You KNOW this will happen, eventually. Lately I've thought a good over/under number for it is 25 years. Obviously there's been films remade where the gap is far less than that, but given the grand scope of the series I don't see it being any earlier.

Hell Dan Radcliffe's even said himself in an interview before that he wouldn't at all be surprised if someday it gets remade.

I bet it will be remade. Hollywood is clearly desperate for things that are bound to make money, hence all the current remakes and reboots of things that have been sucessful in the past. I give it 20 years at the most.

I don't even want to think about anyone else being the faces of J.K.'s characters -- Harry, Ron, Hermione, Snape, Malfoy, Bellatrix........ Wow, the casting is just SO amazing now! A remake would take so much of the magic out of the series -- no pun intended.

Unfortunately...it's only a matter of time until they do remake them. I hope it's a long time from now though. I'd guess around 20 years..?

how about an animated harry potter series.. just like shrek.. it would be awesome.. and they wont make the remake before 30 years

I'm not much of an animated movie lover..don't really like them. But I will agree with you that in about 30 years they will remake the series. It will not be as good as the series now..but if they can once again find the right characters I bet it will still be pretty good.

I think it's gonna be a while. A remake of HP isn't going to do so well as long as people still see the current films as THE films, imo. So for the people who would appreciate a new cast and new film etc, that's when we'll see a remake. A loooong time. Whoever makes it will have the advantage of having the entire book series right in front of them too!

I agree that an animated version would be kinda cool, though.

It should be remade as animated movies, doing the opposite of LOTR, and give it 30 years.

To be honest, I don't really want it to be re-made, but it would be interesting if it was. Actually I would like to have a remake, just to compare things to each other.

remaking Harry Potter would not be the very best idea the modern world/ future could ever think of... It's not the same without the real ones... But it would be interesting on how they would do it this time.

If the remakes had good actors and were as good as the films are just now, they would be awesome and if they weren't I would still watch them :L

They can't remake Harry Potter! It would just seem wrong. They might do it in 20-25 years if the series is still popular (which it will be) and the old ones will look really cheesy, but i will still love them.

First off, I hope it never ever ever get's remade, the series that is. Because I strongly believe that the first time movies have been made, that they're usually always better than the re-makes because they're just so classic.

I would also like to state, that it would be very difficult to remake the entire series again, with how much thought and detail and hard work that has been put into the series to make it just the first time. Yes, I can see how they could use the original series to work off, but it wouldn't just be the same.

Personally, if they did, and they eventually will I think, remake the Harry Potter series, I hope it'd be like 50 plus years from now...but realistically, I think maybe it'd be 30 years or so.

I'm getting all upset now, just thinking people would try and make the series even better. It's fantastic just the way it is.

There is NO WAY that they are going to remake this! I mean, don't get me wrong, I would still be there ready to see it at the first possible minute, but there is simply no way! I will be so sad to see the series finish in a week (omg a week) however there is no way that they can capture the same atmosphere that these movies have. I would definitely be a bit skeptical, and secretly i think i would want them to, but in my opinion it would just ruin the magic. I could see maybe an entirely new story being developed, in which case I would be very excited for it, but idk about the whole remake thing.

I've said for a while now that Harry Potter would make an awesome animated series. I envision something like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where it could be episodic CGI animation. I'd gladly watch it, if it stuck very faithfully to the books. We'll never get a live action film version that is 100% faithful to the books, but a CGI series could be. Imagine if Rowling wrote the scripts, and even filled in some new parts. For example, I always wanted to know what others were up to during the Deathly Hallows. Wouldn't it be cool to see things that were only mentioned briefly, like how Kingsly fought off a bunch of Death Eaters after saying Voldemort's name? Again, an animated series could show that stuff! Bring it on!

Has Star Wars been remade yet? Has Lord of the Rings? Those legendary movies, like Harry Potter, probably won't be remade, but if they do it'll be when the moviemakers are out of ideas for new movies. My guess if ever, 30 years, around that.

Maybe it would be remade, but that would clearly take a long time .. Maybe a Harry Potter anime would also be nice ..

these movies are fantastic... my kids will see the movies and read the books.
the original is almost always better than the newer versions.
and these movies are definitely better than anything... they shouldn't be remade within the next 50 years.

I do believe that they will TRY to have a remake. They are hacks when it comes to movies, and they will do anything for money. But will Rowling let them? Do not forget that they don't own Harry Potter. Lucas didn't let anyone remake Star Wars, and that has been alive for more than thirty years. The new Star Wars movies are not remakes.
Lord of the Rings WAS remade. The LOTR that we all love is a remake of the cartoon LOTR.
Admitadly this series has made many blunders, so much that it could be considered a failure in creative tersm. If there were not Harry Potter books, and it was just the movies, there would be a lot of complaints. The movies are ridiculously convoluted and are too confusing to anyone who has not read the books. The first two were awesome, but the third and fourth one made several characters act out of character. Then the fifth one was okay, and so was the sixth. The seventh was horrible. It just kept bringing in new characters that movie goers knew NOTHING about. Like, why in the name of Ravenclaw is Harry ordering Kreacher around??? In the movies, they skip the fact that Harry owns him. And who is this Rufus?? It was never mentioned before that he was the Minister. Who is Mundungous????? Sirius's brother was a Death Eater and he left?? Where was that mentioned?
All these questions are answered in the books, but the movies just threw them in without proper explanation. And they expect movie people to just "go with it" as Harry says in HBP.
