- The Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office
- The Improper Use of Magic Office
- Magical Law Enforcement Squad
- Auror HQ
- Ministry Security
- Wizengamot
Each of these areas offers many opportunities for advancement, though specialist knowledge and training is required in some roles. Law Enforcement is an exciting and rewarding career, so read on to discover what might be the right job and field of interest for you. ATTENTION ALL EMPLOYEES: MINISTRY LOCKOUT INFORMATION
Attention all Department of Magical Law Enforcement employees. Sometime during the course of winter vacation the Ministry of Magic became completely inaccessible through standard and Ministry approved entry points. Therefore, the Minister for Magic has opted for each department to move to a secure location within abandoned areas of the Muggle world. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement has been temporarily relocated to the abandoned node of the Northern Line of the London Underground, running from Cranley Gardens Station through to Alexandra Palace Station.* For the first day Ministry personnel will be required to use Muggle transportation and get off the underground at Highgate Station and take the westward facing service door from platform south to reach this site initially until apparition zones have been established.
Stairs down to the Main HQ (Reception) The old above ground Cranley Gardens Station entrance is not the most inviting you will see. It's boarded up and fenced off facade leaves little to be desired and that isn't enough to deter the general public then the ancient Under Construction, Caution and Keep Out signs ought to do the trick. Muggle repelling charms are of course used in the area, and barring that, security is plentiful.
All other routes along the abandoned section of the Northern Line into MLE Headquarters have been sealed, so prepare to give your legs a thorough workout should you want to make the trip to the underground. Beyond the main entrance and through triple doors, white fluorescent lights guide the path down old concrete stairs deep into the underground. It's easy to see the space hasn't been used by the general public in its long history and the polished concrete, while old, still has a new sheen to it.
At the bottom of the staircase, a long way down, the makeshift MLE reception desk greets you, and beyond that further down the line you'll find the communal work area and the heart of the DMLE. All the regular processes are still in place, so be sure to check in with Muriel, our ever-patient receptionist, for assistance and ensure you acquire a visitors permit before taking a trip down the Northern Line.
This space is usually guarded, or at the least, observed with keen eyes. Communal Work Floor The track bed between Cranley Gardens and Muswell Hill, though incomplete, has been modified to accommodate a main floor suitable for a working space. As a result of this you will find that each division of the MLE has set up shop in sections at intervals along this space. An assortment of second hand desks and chairs have been provided and small partitions help differentiate one division from another. Despite the length of the track, it's still rather cosy, so here's to hoping you enjoy a collaborative environment.
Parts of the space may be used for division meetings, simply pull up and chair and form a tight circle, alternatively the main floor also serves as a conference room. All Department wide meetings will happen here. Training Arena The old service rooms of the Muswell Hill underground have been consolidated and converted into a training arena to be used as prescribed by your Head of Department. To access the training arena you need to have the password, which changes regularly. To gain access the Training arena, you need to utter the password of the day, whoever you'll be trapped here if you happen to get the password wrong, or attempt to enter without clearance. Inner Corridors The inner corridors of Muswell Hill station is the only way to access the makeshift MLE training arena which are made up of converted service rooms. A little further down you'll find the incomplete lift shaft that has been converted into a work space for forensics and is also where evidences will be stored. Forensics and Evidence Hub A narrow footbridge leading away from the main network is what will take you to the new location of the MLE forensics lab, the only thing is, with the exception of some test tubes, a burner and some other contraptions there's not much to work with. Hopefully you don't have anything of real significance to process. Evidences and general supplies are also stored here in the incomplete service elevator shaft of the Muswell Hill station.
It's dark and damp down here, but at least it's quiet. Office of Department Head Emily Browne The sealed off exit from the main platform of Alexandra Palace station doesn't boast the prestigious décor of the Department Head's Ministry office. The hideous cream and maroon tiles the line the walls are grimy and chipped in places – and that's if they haven't been plastered over in parts. There are a few spindly wooden folding chairs and a dull second hand desk at one end of the room, a small filing cabinet sits in the corner and trunk for general storage sits by the door. Unless you know the password of the hour and/or are apt in the art of defensive charms and counter-curses then access to this area of the platform is limited, that is unless you're willing to part with one of your limbs.
Department Head Emily Browne is more inclined to spend her time on the communal work floor, so unless you have an appointment, you'll be hard pressed to find her here. Though this space may be used for private meetings and small conferences in general. Holding Area and Interrogation If you're looking for the holding and interrogation cells, then you've found it. At the end of the line, at Alexandra Palace station, in a barred off section you find plain concrete benches and a sterile white light. This is where any and all suspects and criminals are held for interrogation and processing. This area is always guarded and is protected with a multitude of charms and enchantments. There is only one way out, and that's past the Department Heads office and through the communal work floor. *location is based off of the abandoned and incomplete section of the Northern Line of the London Underground network. |
