Creatures, hmm? Well, it could be worse. Genevieve had heard horror stories about some of the other locations, so being sent to a relatively clean vet clinic wasn't the worst that could happen to her. She inched around the desks to wait near Kennedy, who was passing out their charmed notebooks for communicating. As he placed a pile to one side for distribution, Genevieve took one from the top and flashed the boy a cheeky grin.

"Thanks, mate. Good thing you're handy with charmswork, hmm?" That wasn't to say he was the only one who could make charmed notebooks, but it helped that Kennedy was completely competent. Someday, they'd graduate and be Aurors together, and she thought she could probably trust him to watch her back. Mostly.

"Permission to be dismissed?" She turned eagerly to Emily and Blaise, showing her notebook to indicate she was ready for her rounds.

Ooooh Kennedy had good charm work. That was excellent. Josh grinned at the YATI a bit as he was kind of excited about how great that was going to be. This charm was going to be fun and helping the security was going to be fun too. If he could somehow found someone guilty for corrupting the security in a place, it was definitely going to be much more fun.

After listening to everyone in silence, Josh focused his attention on the boss lady as she told what to do to everyone. The YATIL waited for his duty enthusiastically as he took a mental note of where the YATIs were going. Oh...he had the A&C and...wait...

Simon had Mysteries? Mysteries??!!! Nooo...the big man couldn't hide his pout as this place was where his fiancé worked. He could go there and snatch one or a few kisses.

Or not.

Eh...no, he would surely do that if he had Simon's duty. He sighed a bit. Maybe he could have fun in A&C too. "Will do, boss."

And lookit that, they could do this co-op thing. He did his bit, she interfered, he didn't throw a hissy fit ... they'd get along fine. Emily nod her head at that last bit, though preferably he would run point on that, she'd only step in if she was needed... she did still have a department to run.



For a moment she thought the woman looked lost. Trouble keeping up Newell? Hadn't she and Tamerlane outlined her options when she'd asked. Nevertheless, it was a good thing she was volunteering for things, though conflict of interest-wise she wondered if pairing simply because she had a personal relationship with the Department Head would be wise... it meant there was room for slacking.

Though...

"What you can do is go poke that husband of yours about our apparition zones... unless you all want to take the train in during the mornings." You know, it was inconvenient.



Was there anything else? Emily spared Blaise a glance, she was certain he could go... but would leave that call in the hands of her new Sec Head. See, she wouldn't show him up on all the calls, just the ones that took time. Time was a valuable commodity.



Kennedy though, was fast impressing her. Was it just her? Or was he finding his feet in the Department? "Excellent," she'd noted as he got started straight away.

Though she had her attention elsewhere, ensuring people were doing things and didn't have any significant questions, Emily was still conscious of Kennedy's progress, and it amused her greatly. He was a good peep, she'd keep him on unless something changed.
"Thank youuu," she trilled, taking a notebook for herself. She wasn't about to hand them out, that was Blaise's job - he'd said so as much, made sense too considering he'd be doing to checking up on people.



And that Walker guy ... good lad for getting on with things. This was why she hired him. Emily was already prepared to label this one a success. So much promise, sooooo much promise.



It came as no surprise to her than Branxton was eager to get going, and she trusted the YATI enough to have her on her way. "Permission granted," she replied with a nod... seeing as she was still technically running point on Auror Head... she needed to fill that role. Really needed to fill that role.



The pouting hadn't gone unnoticed, and much the way she felt about Newell hanging around with her husband during office hours, she had reservations about Carter snooping around the level his missus was on. At least he was compliant... so loyal, so pleasing.

She gave him an approving nod also.






Now... could she go? Or was she still needed?

People were breaking off in multiple directions going to tackle a variety of different jobs, but Anna still wasn't sure of where exactly she was needed and what it was they wanted her to do. Nothing on her end seemed clear to her, which inwardly annoyed her and threatened to put her in a bad mood.

Then it seemed that the boss was going to give her a specific job, which worked better, in her opinion, than just leaving it up to guesswork. "Right," she said. "Will do." Then with a specific job to head out to do, Anna took a final glance around then headed on her way.

OOC: I think I'm just confused out of character. lol I *think* that I'm following, and then when I post, Emily always thinks to herself that she's already gone over that. I think I'm on the right track now, though.

Once out of sight of the group, Simon's movements got even slower. He was definitely going to feel this for awhile, and after he was trying not to use excessive force against the man. Protocol...they needed to follow protocal and not roughhouse him. Yeah...that had gotten him two nice smacks to the head, the only plus was that he had disarmed Jorge after he was bound and before they had portkeyed back to the department. His pain could have been so much worse if he had been free to cast something upon him.

When he finally made it to his desk, the auror collapsed down into his desk chair with a sigh, the paperwork smacking against the wooden surface as he let it drop down onto it. Simon removed said wand from his robe pocket as it nearly poked him, letting it roll along the top of his desk as well. It would be processed later when he was done with everything else that he needed to do on his end.

stuff that he wasn't fully remembering at the moment. Darn headache.
With another sigh, SImon flopped open the packet to the front page so it lay before him. Grabbing for a quill from its holder beside him, it took him a couple of attempts as his vision in the right eye was shaky. Finally grasping it, he went to work on the paperwork, the auror resting his head in his opposite hand.

Lately, Josh had not met anyone more annoying and irksome than Jorge De La Garza. At least the auror felt proud of himself that he had managed to take the annoying journalist's statements without breaking his face or any other part on his body. While he hoped the newspaper bird would be spending enough time in that dark cell to get some lesson, another side in him did not want the man anywhere near his working place.

Hands in pockets, Josh walked in the working area looking for Simon and once he spotted the fellow auror, he approached to his desk with a sigh. Was he alright? He seemed a little bit affected...somehow. Eh...it didn't look like to him that the newspaper pest would be able to hit hard enough to cause any harm but he could never be sure without getting the hit from the man himself.

"Hey..." he greeted Simon, leaning against the side of his desk. "How is the paperwork going?"

A sigh and footsteps. The sounds heard within the silences between the pauses in Simon's scribbles. The auror didn't look up though, not sure he was in the mood to see anyone at the moment. It was only when the familiar voice was added to the mix that the former Gryffindor acknowledged his best friend's presence at his desk with a sigh.

"Its going..." he answered, chancing to allow his gaze to raise up to see his friend. Or friends if his vision was to be believed since there was almost two Joshs. "It would be better if my head didn't feel it did when Blunt got a lucky shot with one of his bludger hits." That was certainly what it reminded Simon of and he had to admit, the reporter shared some qualities with the Ravenclaw. And his pain relief spell had only worked partway as he couldn't focus completely. he had managed to conjure some ice and cloth which he held to the back of his head with his free hand.

"Do I even want to know what was said after I left?" he cautiously asked as he set down his quill and leaned back in his chair with another sigh. His eyes half-closed to ease the discomfort.

Vic led the young one deeper into the tunnels, and he thought it was going to be a quiet trip to the workplace but obviously not. "You can call me Bones." He glanced at her with a formal smile, she obviously needed to know who was going to take her statement. That was natural, some witnesses were uncomfortable opening up to an anonymous lawyer. "This way. Mind the rats." He said taking a slight turn, then answered her second question. "Don't worry, miss, I work with the Wizengamot. I'll make sure your statement is delivered wholly and efficiently."

There was no one there but he pushed his table and then two chairs a little further. Bloody makeshift office, this was no way of working. Boneees. Mhmm, Tori sure liked his bones. Did he know he had such elegant bone structure? Handsome bone structure, really. A perfect face. Great hair. Rawrrrrrrrr. Tori returned his smile with one that was... seemingly innocent, and followed after him.

Rats?!! "EEK! Where?!" she grabbed his arm and scooted much, much closer to him. Mmmmmmmmmmm, he smelled good too. Yeah. Rats. Tori wasn't actually afraid of rats, but any excuse to touch this Hot Bones' arm was a good one. And she could feel the muscles under it, too. BE STILL HER GINGER HEART.

He worked with the Wizengamot. "Ohhhhhhh." Tori remarked with a knowledgeable nod. "I knew you were into Law." See, good job her, not... keeping up with the lawyer thing. Now she had to come up with a really good statement that wouldn't seem TOO biased against the MLE, and yet WOULD tell the story as she'd seen it. Poor Jorge. He probably didn't have ANY hot guys guarding him. She'd really lucked out here. He was even pulling out chairs for her.

The ginger princess took a seat with just a bit of a flounce. Hmm, would she like anything? "Hmm, you shouldn't leave me with so many options," Tori winked at him playfully and got out her own quill and parchment. This was her special recording pen, by the way.

Would it be weird if she asked for a pat-down? Hehehe. Yeah. That would probably cross some sort of 'must keep a stiff upper lip' MLE line.

It was quite refreshing seeing a girly girl around here. All the girls in this department ranged from extremely intimidating to extremely odd. That rat reaction? That was music to his ears. The "I knew you were into Law" bit was actually funny. They were in Law Enforcement department, weren't they? He definitely wasn't into plants. He still kept his smile, she was obviously trying to get rid of the stress. It was cool, he met weirder and louder witnesses.

... the winking. Huh. Vic's forehead furrowed but he laughed anyway. "A glass of water it is." He summoned one from the table faaaaar to their right.

The redhead then fished out her own assets. He looked at her own quill. "I don't think it's necessary for you to write anything down." What did she think they were doing here? An interview? "I just want you to tell me what happened. Start from the beginning. Just like a story." He felt like he was talking to a ten-years-old, but if that helped her understand, then sure, he could do that.

Wait what? Why was she getting a water now? Tori blinked at it but grinned wolfishly again when he said her notes weren't necessary. Awww, cute.

"Sure thang, Bones, but first... can't we work out a little deal?" She fluttered her falsies! eyelashes up at him. "A question for a question. I'll tell you exactly what happened... and then you can tell me a little about your working conditions! I promise to keep my article fair. A girl's gotta work to eat, you know, and I'm losing valuable reporting time and street cred by cooperating with an officer of the law."

Rawrrrrrrrr Mr. Officer though. She wasn't really losing any time with him. *brows*

Vic watched the kid journalist's face quite curiously. She was one expressive little one, wasn't she? Very lively. That was good, but also a little bad because her statement was going to take longer to decipher aaaaaaand waddaya know, she wasn't just going to give her statement like that. Interesting.

Yeah, yeah, as if he hadn't heard those words before. A journalist was a dangerous one to strike deals with.

He remained silent for a moment, smiling kindly at her. He wanted to glance around and make sure no one was eavesdropping but that would imply he was scared or worried, which wasn't true. So, Vic just leaned forward and closer to her, folding his hands in the space between his knees. "Better deal; You give me your truthful statement unconditionally." That was not negotiable. "Then we talk about giving you a quote in exchange for you to tell me about the person responsible for the Bachelor of the month feature in your newspaper." His smile remained formal but it was obvious that he was amused, very amused. For him, business meant business, personal gains came after that. MHMMMMM.

She wasn't too far behind Vic and the Bunbury girl, but didn't stop to chat. Instead, she bypassed the duo in favour of the other duo present, Carter and Bennett.

"Bennett, may I have a word with you in my office please?" she asked, a brow raised as she peered at the auror. He's looked better. Then again, he'd also looked worse. The paperwork was getting done at least, a step in the right direction, "bring that with you," she added, gesturing to it with a nod before proceeding to her office. If he was a good lad, which he was, then he would follow. There were words to be had out of earshot of journalists.

Simon didn't get a chance to get an answer as a certain woman approached them, the auror straightening up as she spoke his name. His eyes once more fully opened as he did his best to cover up the feeling he felt as he looked out of both.

Bennett, may I have a word with you in my office please?

Emily wanted to speak with him. That didn't sound so good, even with the please at the end of the statement. But then Simon wasn't stupid to think that he wasn't going to get some flack for his actions at the cafe. He wasn't totally without blame in the situation that had gotten out of hand, even if not in the way the journalist had assumed. The auror went to nod out of habit as he lowered the ice down to his desk but opted against it to keep from compounding the ache with the movement.

"Of course..." he said simply, pushing back his chair and standing back up to his feet. He then gave his friend a look before picking up the paper and quill and heading after Emily.

Excellent. Brilliant. Good.

Emily was perhaps using these words to reassure herself, of things, but either way, progress would be made, and they'd have to have this discussion sooner or later. Sooner, was clearly preferable. His nod and compliance in moving was appreciated, and she returned his nod with one of her own. He knew where to go, she'd bring up the rear, peering over her shoulder first to spy Vic and Bunbury one last time before following in the auror's footsteps.

"So you're interested in being our Bachelor of the Month, I see," Tori grinned at him. "I'll see what information on that particular topic comes to mind, Mr. Bones." But first, yes yes, she supposed she could give him her statement.

Tori put her hands up to her hair and took her time messing with it and pulling it up into a ponytail. Her sharp hazel eyes took in the department head asking to see Simon, as well as the new development on Simon's cheek. Innnnnnteresting. She hadn't recalled Jorge doing any damage to the so-called Auror's face earlier in the afternoon...

The redhead returned her gaze to Bones. "Sooo, you got any gum? I find it helps me to talk. I prefer Drooble's, for the record." And so the record of her statement could start now, hehe.

"You see, what I meant is that for me as a reader to consider contacting said bachelor, I want extra reassurance that he's not a whack-o. I need to know how much credibility the team behind this column have." Because his sister was not allowed to go on a date with just anyone. He needed to find out the dirt about this bachelor, his face was passable but again all nutjobs were obsessed about their looks.

Vic followed her eyes to Emily and Bennett leaving this floor. He studied the redhead carefully, was she stalling? Good for her he had all the patience in the world, huh? "Ms. Bunbury?" Focus over here, girl.

They weren't in third grade, and he couldn't see Emily tolerating chewing gums among her employees. No gums. Tori's eyebrow remained up in the air. Oh. Ohhhhhhh. He was... she saw now. He was romantically interested in the bachelors of the month. Well, that was a bit of a let down, such a handsome man favoring the other team. Alas, she could help hook him up with a bachelor anyway! Wasn't she just THE BEST?

The redhead nodded. "The column has a LOT of credibility behind it --- it's published in the Daily Prophet, you know! And our reporter does a LOT of investigative journalism to make sure she's not just writing about weirdos. Plus, the names of potential bachelors are submitted to us via a close friend or family who knows him, so we have a good source on hand."

She forced herself to focus on giving her statement when Mr. Bones addressed her by name. Hmmph, no gum? That was a let down. Tori flipped her hair over one shoulder with a sigh. "All right, all right then. Here's my story." She crossed her legs at the knee and folded her hands on her kneecap.

"It all started when Jorge and I met at that Muggle cafe for a bit of a business lunch. We started talking about stories we were both working on, because maybe we could do a bit of collaboration." A little bit of you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours kind of thing. "Well, Jorge and I were looking around as we discussed our stories and we couldn't help but notice the other people there. Jorge was going to go say hi to his girlfriend, when he realized that Simon, your little Auror, was HITTING on her! Jorge didn't like that, so he told Simon off and Simon fought him off and then used police BRUTALITY and EXCESSIVE FORCE to arrest him. I mean, was it really necessary to slam Jorge into a table? Uh, no. So I stepped in, pretending to represent Jorge somehow, and demanded that all police procedures were followed to a T."

She nodded and patted Mr. Bones' arm consolingly. "Not saying that you don't follow procedures, Mr. Bones, but perhaps some of your colleagues are a bit more... rash. Like this Simon. I personally don't think he has any grounds to stand on, as Jorge wasn't assaulting him because he's an officer of the law. I think this is just a personal feud that Simon is trying to turn into something bigger and badder than it really is." And that's the way Tori sees it!

Vic intensely paid attention to what she had to say about the bachelor column. He wanted to write every word for further investigation information but this wasn't appropriate when he had real work to do. "Well, thank you for your help, miss Bunbury." He appreciated it and the quote would be given to her when she gave her statement.

"You're quite welcome, Mr. Bones," Tori nodded her pretty little head again. She was still disappointed about him being interested in their bachelors of the month, but well. What's a girl to do. At least she always had Paulie to fall back on.

Tori was torn between watching the quill zoom across the paper and watching Bones' face for any reactions. She would have liked to set her own quill to work, but using it as a recording device tucked over her ear would have to do.

"I would expect you to," she confirmed his professional answer. Hmm, how to respond now just as professionally. "Wellllll," Tori stalled drawled, because she didn't want to get her coworker into any more trouble than he currently was, "it was hard for me to see what exactly went down because I was still sitting at the table. It looked like Jorge shouted at Simon though, maybe jabbed him in the chest with his finger. It was hard to see everything until I got up, because of the angle and the other people around." She made sure to sound very unsure in her statement here.

And oop, she'd made him chuckle. SLIP-UP ALERT. "I mean that I pretended to be his supervisor from the DP," Tori laughed along with the chuckle. She was a master of fake laughs, just ask her frenemies. "I stepped in like I had some authority to represent the paper. Really, Jorge's probably above me on the totem pole at work. I just got promoted from being a stringer, mhmm." And that's all there was to it, yepppppppp. Tori tilted her head and gave Bones an absolutely angelic expression.

Vic simply offered her a small smile as she stalled and dodged his question to get into more details. She was good, he was going to give her that and if this case was anything serious, he wouldn't be admiring her wits.
