Default Potage's Cauldron Shop

As you enter Diagon Alley from the Leaky Cauldron, the first thing you might see is the assortment of cauldrons! Stacked out the front, and decoratively dangling from the small balcony. The large window will let you peek in to find rows and rows of Cauldrons, organised precisely by style, and size. Along with the stacked cauldrons out the front is a welcoming sign that reads "Potage's Cauldron Shop - All Sizes - Brass, Cooper, Silver, Pewter, Self Stirring, and Collapsible."

Walking into the shop you will find rows and rows of cauldrons, anything you could need or want is there. Organized by size and style. The more expensive cauldrons will be found on the top shelves and the bigger cauldrons are always found in the back. Don't try to climb up the shelves to reach a silver cauldron though! The shopkeeper is there to help retrieve anything hard-to-reach. During summer months, as Diagon Alley prepares for all new and returning Hogwarts students, the shopkeeper makes it easy by having a school display right up front with the appropriate Hogwarts-approved cauldrons.

The shopkeeper also has a knack with cauldron repairs, should you have a crack, a hole, or any other damage. Still can't find what you are looking for? No problem, the shopkeeper is always ready to help out. Just head to the counter! If you don't see the anyone, just ding the small bell and it will ring to let them know someone is in need of assistance.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

He didn’t want to but he had to get a new and proper cauldron. His previous one was causing too much trouble and he was certain that the numerous potions that had been brewed in it had made it beyond even magical repair. So after a short discussion with his father, he had agreed to give him a little bit of extra money from their savings to buy a new cauldron.

Having promised his father he would buy the cheapest one, Dorian walked to the pewter cauldrons and checked them out. But it didn’t feel right… Pewter cauldrons were mostly used by first years and was very slow. He was going to start his fifth year and had to be able to keep up with the speed of the others. ”Sorry dad” he whispered as he turned around to see if he could find a brass cauldron. He would buy the cheapest out of those.

Mary Muldoon was quite excited to get on with normal school shopping, now that she had money and a wand. She walked around, examining cauldrons before picking up a size 2 pewter one. She walked up to the counter and bought the cauldron with little trouble. It has been very unlike her social situation at the bin.

Analiese Allanach-Senchuri strode into Potage's and signed in relief as she saw that the cauldron were relatively light. She should've thought better, after all, this was magic. She looked for a pewter cauldron that was size 2. That took quite a short time. Or was it just that she wasn't speaking to anyone that made it seem shorter? Anyway, Analiese made her way to the counter and purchased the cauldron. Hmm. She could put her other shopping in the cauldron. That would save a lot of space.

New school meant new cauldron. Mainly because his old one was on its last leg - quite literally, the legs of the cauldron had broken off in transit from Egypt and now he needed another one. Turns out when you try and save money by using your parent's old cauldrons, you didn't exactly get much use out of them before they literally crumbled apart. He hadn't thought to ask them if they used THEIR parents cauldrons in school, but seeing as how the metal had literally broken he assumed they had been in the family for quite some time.

Ah well, it was all part of his ~fresh start~ thing right?

He was slooooowly getting the hang of this Diagon Alley place as well. Very slowly but surely. He had gotten his wand after putting it off for a VERY long time, and now he was starting to remember where the shops were. It was much easier to shop when Tari wasn't around either. Babysitting was not his forte.

Approaching the cauldron store, he peered in to the window, squinting to see if the cauldron he had set his eye on was currently on display or not.

Evan was ecstatic to be back alone in Diagon Alley, she'd been here just a few weeks ago with her mother and her mother's traitor of a girlfriend and that had been something like torture even before she'd seen Kieran's judgey-as-heck face. So, yeah- back to the ecstatic bit, Evan was all smiles as she walked into a shop she'd never had need of before- A shop of nothing but cauldrons?? the idea was so stupid to the Ravenclaw that she had to explore.

Would there be just one of each kind in here? One iron, one copper, one gold, one pewter, all along the wall or would the cauldrons be so big in number they'd be falling off the shelves? The mind reeled.

With her dark hands tucked into the pockets of her blue jean shorts the American witch stepped past the doorway and into the shop- so eager was Evan, she didn't bother watching out for a familiar figure directly before her- and that was how Evan Eastwood nearly ran over Jabari Rahal.

Unfortunately, Jay had JUST picked up a rather sturdy looking copper cauldron when someone walked in to him. Obviously, he hadn't been expecting that, so he dropped the cauldron with a LOUD BANG on the floor as he steadied himself. He blinked, certain that he was probably going deaf now thanks to that loud clanging - and they were probably going to attract every person in the alley to their spot to see what had happened.

Swearing to himself under his breath as the ringing started to subside in his head, he turned to the girl who had run in to him and raised an eyebrow. "You ok?"

Moira was lost. She must have been to Diagon Alley a dozen times before with her older cousins, but going here now that she was ELEVEN and headed off to Hogwarts Beauxbatons, the blond was at a loss. She knew one of the first things she should purchase should be her wand, which she also knew meant to go to Ollivander's. But where WAS Ollivander's?? Why wasn't there a directory that listed the exact layout of all the stores? Even though she was tall for her age, there were still way too many people in here and she'd lost track of her father.

Must. Not. Cry.

Pushing her way in through the closest shop, she had a seat down by the window. At least it wasn't too crowded in here. Chance to catch her breath. Or something. Maybe look for a familiar face. Maybe a helping hand to point her where in Merlin's forsaken name was the Wand Shop?

Ilya, on the other hand, knew this place inside out. His grandma and ma brought him here when they had to stock up their shop, and he remembered Diagon Alley as much as Hexagonalley (where he lived) so, yeah. He knew it all. He was an expert. Which was why his mother left him trusted him to shop for potions on his own while she guarded the door outside.

Ilya RAN into the shop, coming to a halt just before he rammed someone in the back. "Whoaaa!!" He laughed, rosy cheeks and an ice cream cone dripping in his hand. He licked the bit of ice cream melting down his hand as he strolled around the store.

Someone was sitting at the window. Why would someone take a seat in a cauldron shop? He approached the girl curiously. "Hi. Why are you sitting here?" Did she need help carrying the cauldrons?? He was strong. He could carry it for her!

She heard the door open, and Moira turned to look from her seated position. Moving slightly off to the side as he halted just before colliding into her. "You shouldn't run into shops." She told the boy, who looked about her age, very diplomatically. Weird, she could almost hear her mother's tone in that. Nevermind that she shouldn't have been sitting right at the front of the store, but it wasn't like she was in the doorway.

"I ... don't..." Mimi started to say quietly, but then, no, she didn't want to admit her faults of being lost to a complete stranger. "I.. What kind of ice cream?" She said, noting the creamy substance dripping from his hand. Change the topic from herself.

In the process of studying for OWLs, Trinetta had somehow managed to...melt her old cauldron. She still wasn't sure how it happened, but her boil curing potion had destroyed the cauldron. Thankfully it had been just a few hours before her exam, and since they provided the equipment she'd been able to still get through her exam just fine - although now, she needed a replacement before term started.

What kind of cauldron would be good for NEWT level classes? She planned on keeping potions, and only dropping a few - History of Magic, Ancient Runes and Arithmancy were all the likely candidates to drop. She browsed the cauldrons as she thought it over, thinking bronze was probably the best one to go with. Hmmmm.

Isla had been to Diagon Alley many times before, but this time was different. This time, she was school shopping--for magical school! She'd looked forward to this for years, and even though she was still a little sad to leave behind muggle school and all the friends she'd made, she was ready for a new adventure.

She wanted to just run and get everything right this very second! She needed a wand, some robes, school books, a cauldron... Oh! Speaking of needing a caulron... "Hey, Mom! There's the cauldron shop!" she said, her excitement showing in her tone of voice. Without even waiting to hear a response, the up-and-coming first year opened the door to the shop and stepped inside.

She had never before seen so many cauldrons in one place. It was kind of exciting in a weird sort of way. She wandered over by a row of them, taking a spot just to the right of some other girl. "Mom?" she asked, spotting her mom and little sister, Ava, wandering down the row to join her. "What kind of cauldron do I need again?"

Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede!

Owl year was approaching! Cole was very relieved that they we're going back to Hogwarts in september. He had been out of sorts at Beuaxbatons and not really himself. Too many distracting thoughts about his dead mother hadn't exactly helped with his grades, it had caused them to drop. His father had had many colourful words to say when his grades envelope had arrived at home, like abysmall and dissapointing to name a few.

Pushing up the door to Potage cauldron's the blond going on fifteen youth entered with a loud sigh. Would a brand new cauldron help him change his grade in potions from troll to a minimum of at least acceptable? After a quick glance down at his fingers that he had seared during term that still had some marks Cole supposed that a handbook on safe potion making wouldn't be such a bad thing either. Going over to browse the cauldron shelves he wondered if bronze was better than pewter?

Nettie wasn't really paying attention to people in the shop, until she heard that annoyingly shrill call of "MOM" coming from a younger shopper. Hearing kids cry out for their parents at the top of their lungs was not Trinetta's favorite thing, but she'd gotten used to it during all these trips to alley. The young girl in question and her mum stopped nearby, looking at the cauldrons and trying to figure out which one she needed.

She was a first year by the looks of it, and even though she'd been rather LOUD, Nettie smiled at her. "The standard pewter one," she told her, pointing to the one all the way at the top of the shelf. "That's the one for first years," she helpfully told her. Even though she didn't have the badge anymore, apparently she was still eager to help. Huh. Imagine that.

There was a voice that answered her question, but the voice didn't belong to her mom or little sister. The incoming first year looked up to see a very unfamiliar face. She didn't know the older girl, but apparently she was a Hogwarts student. "That's it!" she said. "Thanks! I'm Isla, by the way. Do you go to Hogwarts?" The girl had known the answer to her question, but that didn't mean she was a Hogwarts student. For all Isla knew, she could be giving her the cauldron the firsties at Beauxbatons needed.

About that time, Isla's mom and little sister joined them. "It's the standard pewter cauldron," she reminded her mom. That stranger right there had told her. Isla watched as her mom smiled at Nettie as a way of saying thank you. "How'd you know I was a first year?" she asked the older girl. I mean, it was probably obvious, but her curiosity had gotten the best of her. Was she really that tiny and young-looking? Maybe she should wear a little lip gloss or something next time...

"Hi Isla, I'm Nettie," Trinetta introduced herself to the enthusiastic girl with a smile and then nodded in response to her question. "Yeah, I'm a pre--I mean, a sixth year," she said, realizing that introducing herself as a prefect wasn't a THING anymore. Oops. "I'm also in Ravenclaw which is basically the BEST house," she added with a chuckle. She was joking, obviously...

Hmm, how did she tell her how obvious it had been that she was a first year without making her seem...self conscious? "Well, once you get your first cauldron you usually keep it until you get to NEWT level...or you melt it, like me," she told her with a grin. "So if you're shopping for one now...that must mean you're new. Therefore, a first year," she told her. Wow. That was actually a very Ravenclaw explanation for her. Nettie wasn't usually stereotypically Ravenclaw but when she was, she shocked even herself!

Nettie. She'd have to remember that...because now she knew one and only one person at her school, and that was Nettie. "Nice to meet you. You're the one and only Hogwarts student I know," she said with a laugh. "Too bad we're not in the same year." They weren't even close to being in the same year either. Something told her sixth years didn't spend too much of their time hanging out with firsties.

...and she was a pre sixth year? What had she said? "What's a pre sixth year?" she asked. She smiled when Nettie mentioned how proud she was of her house. "I know all about the four houses. I think I'm going to be a Gryffindor." It made perfect sense. She was a friendly person, but she wouldn't say she was so friendly that she'd be a Hufflepuff. Then there were the Ravenclaws, like Nettie. Isla didn't think she was a good fit there either. She wasn't cunning enough to be a Slytherin. So a Gryffindor it would be!

Then she listened as Nettie gave a very detailed, well-thought out answer to her question. "That was a very Ravenclaw thing to say," she said. "You're right, though. How'd you melt your cauldron? Sounds kind of fun to watch if you ask me."

Nettie laughed a little. "Well I'm honored," she told her with a grin. The first years were always so eager and excited. She wasn't one to talk, though - she had DEFINITELY been exactly the same when she had been a first year. That seemed like so long ago...because it was, honestly. She was a NEWT level student now. Yikes.

"A pre sixth year?" she asked in confusion, her dark eyebrows wrinkling. OH. She remembered her little slip up and shook her head. "No, no, I...I used to be a prefect. I'm still used to introducing myself like that, and I accidentally let it slip," she explained.

Ew, a Gryffindor? But WHY? Instead she smiled though. "The hat takes your choice in to account, you know! I didn't know anything about the houses, so I just let it put me wherever. I ALMOST went Slytherin, but it thought I liked learning more," she explained. And as for her cauldron...

"Um, I don't really know to be honest," she admitted with a laugh. "I was trying to study for my OWLs, and I was practicing a potion I've made dozens of time, and...I did something wrong, so it melted," she explained, chuckling.

Isla smiled, although she was sure Nettie was just humoring her. She doubted the older girl was really honored, but who knew? She might be! Isla nodded. Yes, a pre sixth year. That had been what Nettie had said, right? She looked a little confused, though, and a few seconds later, so did Isla. "You used to be a prefect? Why'd you get fired?" she asked. "Did it have something to do with melting that cauldron?"

After that, they were moving on to talking about the Hogwarts houses again. "It does? So I can ask it for a certain house, and it'll listen to me?" she asked. That was super weird in a totally cool kind of way! Isla could certainly say she'd never talked to a hat before. "I better make sure of Gryffindor then." She didn't want to ask for something she'd live to regret.

She just nodded when Nettie explained what she'd done to melt the cauldron. Isla wasn't even sure of her ability to pour water into a cauldron, so who was she to talk? She looked over at her mom, who'd been chatting away with her little sister about something. "I guess this is the one then," she said, referring to the cauldron they'd been looking at. "How do we haul it out of here?"
