What might be a work of art, or is possibly what nightmares are made of, is the fountain outside the Leaky Cauldron. Large, gaudy and rather obnoxious, it is most definitely a centerpoint of the area. Built of crumbling stone, the fountain is tall and contains three tiers. Starting at the bottom, the fountain has a three-foot high wall. In the center and serving as a support beam is a water serpent that rises from the pool and to the very top. Winged cherubs with wicked looks in their eyes hang off the serpent and dragons peer from around his climbing body. If it feels like the dragons and cherubs are watching you, it’s because they probably are. One cherub has been missing his head for centuries. Cherubs and dragons alike spit water in many directions, sometimes at different intervals, creating a beautiful display when sunlight catches the dancing water.
However, the fountain is not merely a great sight. Perhaps it is haunted, or maybe cursed, for the fountain has a tendency to spit water at people. Those who loiter too long may find their faces wet. Try to sit down on the edge without dropping a coin and you may find yourself doused with water. However – do not try to outsmart the fountain. Dropping muggle money won’t buy you any time. On the contrary, those who drop muggle coins will find themselves pelted with coins.
Oh, and just a warning. Don't try to stick your hand into the water, especially in hopes of grabbing some money from the bottom. Creepy things with tentacles would love to bathe with you.

Unimpressed..
Orion Forest Thornhill was highly unimpressed.
Though to be fair, he wasn’t impressed with much in his life, his shady family who got a bit to nosy with his stuff, his shady extended family who liked to apparently spend most of their time behind bars then in front of them, his house at school, yellow was not only the stupidest color, but it represented the dumbest house alive. He was not sunshine and lolipops, he was cloudy and black licorice.
People most of the time annoyed him as well, they were loud and in your face and always giving their opinions when they weren’t warranted. He didn’t know why every single person he had met seemed to make it their mission in life to change his mind about his house!
Why was he not entitled to his own opinion? He didn’t call down Merlin’s wrath just because someone didn’t like pumpkin pie. I mean.. clearly they were missing out, but he respected it! Could anyone respect his opinion on his own house?

He sighed and ran a hand through his dark rather untidy hair. Despite the sun he was dressed in a black hoodie with the hood up and black jeans. He didn’t care.. this was his comfort zone.. his happy place.. so to speak.
And now.. NOW he has just read they had to go to Beauxbatons! Merlin help them all,, he hoped the French were as rude as they were made out to be.. hopefully they could leave him alone and pretend he wasn’t there..

That it would likely be another year of not being able to play Seeker for Gryffindor. Tormenting a certain Hufflepuff was definitely on her list of making it easy to ignore the inevitable and French language preparations.
She rolled her eyes at his attire and just couldn't resist approaching. Because of course not; she was never one to shy away from these situations. She was of course, more appropriately dressed with short shorts and a tank top.
"Well well well.... You look hot." Just stating facts. Also there was a fountain right there that was super tempting, so he knew.

It wasn't that it was the best place to be. Orion got that wrong. If she wanted to convince him of the best place to be, that was OBVIOUSLY Gryffindor. But what she was trying to do was to get him to accept his sorting. The sorting hat placed him as a Hufflepuff, obviously not for his rosy disposition, but for some reason or other. Loyalty, perhaps?
She snickered, unwilling to let go on the subject. Especially when he made it SO easy. "Convenient then that black is one of your house colors." See. Hufflepuff.

There is definitely a change of temperature in the air now that spring time has approached. He has been doing a ton of spring cleaning not to mention putting away winter clothes in the attic, which is a very heavy load. He manages to clean the house for an entire week, his parents promised him that Nobi, their house elf would come visit but he didn't show up-- it only meant that his father needed Nobi. That's okay.
Jonathan took a stroll outside as soon as his weekend started. They were swamped at work but he is getting used to all of it by now-- it is more fun with Fletcher around. So yeah...
He walked and walked around until he found himself staring at a huge fountain. His one hand clutching the small plastic bag of groceries he began walking once again, circling around the fountain area. It has been awhile since he last step foot in here so seeing it right now felt a tad bit nostalgic. Stopping in the area with shade, Jonathan sits down and listens to the surrounding.

So far this summer had been more meh than Chloe would like to admit, of course, it wasn't anything bad, but she had to admit it was so boring for some reason. Her mother had decided all on her own that Chloe Marie McCarthy was old enough to get a job and since she didn't apply to be an inter she would be working for the dance studio.
HOW AWFUL WAS THAT!!
Now every morning before quidditch practice she was teaching two and three-year-olds WHO WOULDN'T EVEN LISTEN TO HER! It was chaos that's what it was, it wasn't really dancing. Just them crying, snotting, and running around. Was she really that bad when she was their age? Yes, she was, with Xar's help, but that was beside the point, she was the owner's daughter so she was allowed. She also felt bad telling her mom no and after their last fight she was trying to be better at it.
Today though she took some time to go hopefully meet up with some friends, the only problem was she hadn't actually made any plans before coming to the alley so now she was standing at the fountain not sure where anyone was or if they wanted to hangout with her.

This summer was proving to be nothing at all, if not hectic. The thing about it was, it was the absolute most perfect kind of hectic. The kind that had you moving from one thing to another, one place to another, so busy that the moment you laid down you were sound asleep. And Rylee was LOVING every single minute of it.
Having turned seventeen back in May meant she could use magic freely outside of school. With this privilege came lots of responsibility for sure but it also meant she didn't have to rely on others so much. It meant being able to travel more on her own, get more tedious tasks done more quickly and be able to enjoy what little downtime she actually had given herself before her final term at Hogwarts started up again.
With her two weeks at home very quickly coming to an end before she returned to traveling, Rylee decided there was no better time than today to get to Diagon Alley and shop. Which was how she ended up near the fountain with a few bags in her hands that needed to be placed into the bag on her shoulder, her kneazle Cosmos at her side. It was only as she drew closer to the fountain that she spotted someone she knew. "Chloe! Hi!" She waved at friend while walking towards her.

Isla realized that she was doing more of just hanging out and less of actual school shopping, but hanging out was way more fun. She'd actually met some of the kids she'd go to school with, and that was so much better than buying school robes and books. She'd get around to everything on her list...eventually. It wasn't like school started tomorrow or anything like that. Her mom and little sister had stopped to talk to somebody in the streets, so the firstie wandered over by a fountain that looked really cool and interesting.
She looked up and admired the dragons and cherubs, and she thought the whole thing was the coolest part of Diagon Alley. Even if there was a cherub with a missing head. One of the reasons why she thought the fountain was so cool is because just at that moment, it shot water straight out of it and hit some poor old man right in the face. Had Isla not been taught manners, she'd have laughed so hard that she might have fallen out, but she had been taught manners. She bit her lip to keep herself from laughing as she took a seat near two older girls.
She wished she had already made a group of friends to hang out with. It'd make going to a new school so much easier. Just then a whole stream of water shot her way, causing Isla to let out a small shriek and jump up from seat. She nearly ran right into both girls. "Sorry!" she said, feeling terrible about almost hitting him. "The fountain...it...kind of attacked."

Here her name she came out of her thoughts and turned, 'Rylee, hey, how are you?" giving a smile and wave as her friend came over she turned her full attention on her. "Having a good summer I hope?" That was probably a lame question, of course she was, it was summer!
Before they could talk more another girl was speaking to them, no, almost running into them and Chloe blinking before looking back at the fountain. What had she missed by tuning everything out? Glancing back at the younger girl she sort of giggled. "I'm sorry, yes, it does that. Is this your first time in the alley?" Looking around she didn't have a towel and she wasn't allowed to do magic outside of school, so helping her dry off was going to be almost impossible. [b] "You learn after a while to watch your back with this thing." Pointing to the fountain she had known it couldn't be trusted.

The smile on her face widened as Chloe returned the warm greeting. "I am. It's been amazing chaotic and loads of fun." Yes, that was one way to put it so far. As much as she enjoyed talking about all the things she had been up to, all her traveling, she didn't want to seem snobby or like she was bragging. Therefore she wouldn't just go about rattling off her list of activities. "How has the summer been treating you?" Hopefully well.
Unfortunately Rylee had her back to the younger girl since she had been speaking with Chloe and hadn't seen what happened. Though it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out as the girl was not only wet but quickly explained that the fountain had 'attacked' her. Obviously a first timer to Diagon Alley. "That's alright. The fountain does that sometimes, it's very fussy about whom it allows to sit there." She herself had learned that when she was very very small. "I'm Rylee, I can help you dry off quickly if you like?" Unless the girl didn't mind being wet.

Isla hesitated and looked at the fountain behind her. Right now, it looked nice and calm, like the kind of place you'd come to for peace and quiet or to just sit and read. She knew better now, though. She laughed. "Yeah, I noticed. It was all fun and games when that man got hit with the water," she said, referring to the old man she'd silently laughed at just minutes before. "And i guess it was kind of funny when it hit me, too." She was just glad this didn't happen in the dead of winter.
Her eyebrows wrinkled in confusion when the second girl explained that the fountain was kind of fussy about who sat here. "So the...fountain doesn't want me here?" she asked. That was the weirdest thing she'd ever heard a fountain do in her whole entire life. Although, maybe it was punishing her for laughing at that old man. "You can help me dry off?" she asked, guessing the girl was talking about casting a spell. "Well, okay then. Thanks!"
While she waited, she turned back to the first girl. "No, I've been to Diagon Alley many times, but it's really only been to go with my mom or dad to buy a few things and then go," she said. Being a pureblood family, they found themselves here a lot.

Rylee laughed softly. "It's always funny when someone else gets sprayed by the fountain as long as no one gets hurt." A harmless spray of water wasn't really a big deal when it was the summer time. "At least you weren't eating or reading a book." Now that would have been disappointing.
"Mm, it's not that it doesn't want you here," she began trying to choose the correct words to explain. "The fountain will let you sit here when you toss a coin into it. The better the coins the longer it may allow you stay without getting wet." Some people found that to be a fair trade while others... not so much. When she was younger she remembered tossing coins into the fountain and making wishes. Sometimes they came true, other times they didn't.
Rylee smiled. "Sure. It will only take a second to do." With a gentle flick of her wrist, her wand was released from the holster on her arm and slid into her hand. Flexing her fingers around the cool wood she aimed her wand at the younger girl. With just a whispered word a charm was cast to dry her off slowly. "How's that?"

"RYLEE!!" her hand went to her mouth not meaning to scream the other girl's name. "Are you seventeen?" Maybe the girl had a birthday she wasn't aware of. Chloe looked back and forth from Rylee to the girl in shock but also impressed that she did that. It wasn't that big of a deal, but it was not at school and she couldn't wait until she could just do that.
Her eyes focused on the girl and she realized how rude she was being. "No, no the fountain likes people sitting here, it just likes to play and have fun just like we do. It is all fun and games, nothing bad or anything."
Seeing that she was dry again Chloe moved over so she could sit where it was safe. "Well welcome to the Alley, there are so many great things here."

Although, she wasn't really sure what she could do about if that ever happened. It wasn't like the fountain had ears or knew when somebody gave it the evil eye. Or...did it know? She suddenly wasn't sure if she liked this fountain or not.
So she needed to toss a coin into the fountain? Hmm... Maybe this fountain did know more than she thought it knew. "How does it know all this stuff? Like when you're standing by it or when you feed it a coin?" she asked. Just as the words escaped her mouth, there was a wand pointed at her. She'd never had a wand pointed at her before. She actually squeezed her eyes shut and braced herself, but there turned out to be no reason to worry. "Thanks," she said with a smile.
...but the wandwork actually caused the other girl to yell out in surprise, which startled Isla and made her start wondering what on earth had happened. Was she missing her hair? An ear, maybe? What had that spell cast on her actually done? The conversation moved on, though, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Good.
So the fountain liked people sitting here, huh? "Well, in that case...," she said, her voice trailing off. Isla fished into her pocket, pulled out a coin, and tossed it in. Just in case this thing actually worked, she made a wish that her first year at her new school would be a great one. Then she sat down. "So what do you like to do in Diagon Alley?" she asked.

A bit of laughter slipped past her lips at the younger girls reasoning. "Exactly like that." The loss of ice cream would have been a terrible thing to have happened. Of all the times she had gotten close to the fountain.. and there had been many, she could only remember it soaking her clothes. Once when it had been rather cold and she was with Stefan. She had looked like a wet rat. Not a pretty sight at all but afterwards they had both gotten a good laugh about it.
How did the fountain know things? Good question. "It's magical." The best and only answer Rylee could give the younger girl. If she had really felt like giving the girl a long winded answer she could have but really did anyone have the time for that?
Her wandwork was perfect and she knew it was so hearing Chloe suddenly shout her name startled her. Rylee whirled around in confusion blinking at her friend a few times until Chloe spoke again and it all clicked in her head what had happened. She had been afraid of underage magic. Only Rylee wasn't underage anymore.
A slow grin tugged at her lips. "Yes? Since early May," she laughed lightly. "I'm good. Don't worry." No trouble was happening here.
The ginger fished around in her bag for a moment pulling out a coin and tossing it into the fountain along with the girls. That should be good for now. "Shop?" She laughed. "I usually head to the book store or the pet shop. Get ice cream... maybe get a toy or something for my nephews. Pick up plant stuff too and I always stop by the Quidditch shop."

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The school year had not even begun and Minjae already looked stressed out as he took a seat on the edge of the fountain. Not only did he have to worry about his O.W.L exams this year. But also he had come to the age in which he had to decide whether he would pursue a job in the wizarding world or if he went to work in the family business. Which had been planned out since the moment he was born. He would major in business, become an intern at his father's trading company which had been run for generations long, he would then get a job there learn how to take over once his father retired and then he would become the next CEO. Others would call it nepotism but to him it was family business.
And he was okay with that for a long time because he did not know better. But now that he knew about the wizarding world there was so much more that he wanted to do. Jobs like a curse-breaker or even in the ministry also interested him but how did he tell his family that he wasn't sure if he wanted to continue the family business? Would they disown him? Would it break their hearts? The fifth year ran his hands wildly through his hair which his stylist had spend twenty minutes on to make it look perfect this morning. Now it was sticking out in every direction and he tried to make it look decent again with his hands. He sighed loudly and realized that he needed a distraction so the Hufflepuff looked around, hoping to see a familiar face in the midst of the crowd.

Chloe was wandering around Diagon, happily just people watching and wondering if she could see any of her friends. Despite all of her anxiety before getting home, actually being at home was pretty great. She and Luz were getting along and she was enjoying spending time with her family.
Family.
It was so nice to have one of them again. A nice loving family.
And she had friends and even a few boys she liked.. though she quickly moved her thoughts on from the two Gryffindors who had caught her eye and her heart... that was complicated right now.. and it was hard for her to deal with complicated.
It was such a far cry from last year at this time.
She pushed some of her blonde hair behind her ears and looked over at the fountain. Making sure that she didn’t get any water sprayed at her and giggling softly as other people did.

There was something about being a seventh year that just changed your perspective of coming to Diagon Alley. Maybe it was the fact that she could apparate now and it was way faster or that she could use magic whenever she wanted, but summer was looking good on Chloe McCarthy. She was feeling better than she had all term and it showed with the huge smile on her face as she walked down the alley looking for some friends.
Moving towards the fountain she was hoping to see Nettie or even Candi, but she saw Minjae and smiled. Giving the younger student a smile she walked over. "Hey Minjae, having a good summer?" She hoped everyone was having a summer like she was, everyone deserved to have the best summer with relaxation and fun.

Augstina was trying to figure out what she was going to do with the information she had found, it was obvious her brother wasn't going to jump on a train with her, but she still wanted to. She wanted to meet her dad and if she had to go to Spain alone she would. She was happy when he didn't want to go to Diagon Alley with her because she wanted to stop by the prophet to ask about a former employee and see what information she could get on him.
As she headed down the alley a girl caught her attention, a girl that she recognized. She didn't know the girl, but she knew of her, oh yes, her brother spoke of her many times. A grin crossed her face and she headed towards her. "Chloe, right?"

Chloe was still watching the people at the fountain when a girl started to head towards her, and her green eyes went a bit wide.. for a moment she felt a bout of panic, wondering if it could be one of her old foster care.. “friends”..
But the smile on the other girls face made her calm down just a bit.. and helped her think a bit logically as well. Given the setting it was most likely someone from Hogwarts..
She relaxed a bit and she pushed some of her blonde hair behind her ear.
“Yeah, it’s Chloe.. do.. I know you?” She asked softly as she shifted her weight on her feet.

Minjae had turned around to check his appearance in the water of the fountain but the splashing of the water made it virtually impossible to check out. It wasn't that he wanted to look good or anything but his parents would kick his behind figuratively speaking if he did not look somewhat presentable. But in this world he was no one special and he did not get why his parents even bothered. Hearing a friendly voice behind him, the Hufflepuff turned back around and looked up at Chloe. Her smile made him smile as well and he nodded his head.
"It's....." for a moment he considered throwing every bit of worry her way just to relief his heart. But she seemed to be in a too good of a mood and he would hate himself if he were to lower it down. "alright i guess, we got back from vacation a few days ago and my grandparents are coming to visit in two days" Which was enjoyable for him because he knew they would always shower him with presents. He hoped to get the newest VR system this time. But the staff at home were all visibly nervous. His grandparents were nice and friendly but they didn't give second chances either. Last year the gardener was fired for giving the flowers in the greenhouse too much water. "How are you doing? You look rather happy. Did something good happen?" he asked.

Did she know her? Auggi laughed a bit and shook her head. "I don't think we have been introduced and I'm not really the social one at school so probably not, but you know my twin." Turning to look at the fountain she didn't say much more about that.
"Come here often? " Then she thought maybe the girl had been here all her life and would know people that worked in shops. "Do you know who the editor is at the prophet?" This could be the information she needed, but maybe she could do her brother a favor as well.
"You weren't meeting your boyfriend or anything, I mean I'm not interrupting am I?" Chloe seemed to be alone, so she maybe they could have some girl talk and she'd get a good word in for Juanma.

He was always quiet though she thought about the last time she was probably close to him, that would have been when he seemed to fan boy over that Gryffindor sword, but it didn't matter now that guy was in his portrait and it was summer. So she smiled as he spoke about vacation and grandparents, "Ooooh where did you go? I'm not sure I'm going anywhere this summer. Last year I went to Brazil, but with Quidditch and my mum expecting... again we are just going to be around here." Which was fine, she was having a great summer at this point, so staying around Germany and here in London was enough for her.

Ice cream in hand FINALLY, Isla Bellchant headed to the fountain to enjoy her treat and to get some fresh air. The seating area outside the ice cream parlor was way too crowded, and even though the fountain was crowded, too, it was less crowded. So the fountain it was!
She stood and watched the fountain for a second or two. There was water coming out of it from all directions, which would have been awesome if she was looking for a swim. She wasn't, though, so she settled for a little bench right beside the fountain and just out of the reach of all the water. With no one to talk to at the moment, she stuck her spoon into the top scoop, the chocolate frog layer, and pulled out another tasty bite.
Now this was what she'd come to Diagon Alley for. Not to buy school books. Not to buy a new cauldron. Not to do anything school-related (even though her mother insisted). But to eat ice cream! Oh, and to buy a kneazle, too.

Huh.. well this girl seemed to really know her.. so.. she hadn’t blanked out an entire person had she? Hopefully she’d say her name and then Chloe would get an “Aha!” moment.. but until then.. she’d smile and be nice!
“Oh! I know your twin? And who is what? ” Bread crumbs.. she was getting bread crumbs but she would take them!
“Yeah, I have this summer at least, this is one of my favorite places in the Alley. ” She wasn’t fully sure why. Maybe it was because of the fountain or the fact that it seemed to like people to pay attention to it, or because of the laughing and happy crowd that always seemed to be around it.. whatever it was. This place seemed to have good vibes and she liked it.
The next question had her blinking though.. “Ahhh, no I don’t.. this is only my second summer around here. ” She said as she looked over at the girl apologetically.
A soft scoff left her lips through as the girl spoke again. “I don’t have a boyfriend.. it’s just me.. and you aren’t interrupting at all. ” She said with a warm smile over at the girl.

"We went to Zermatt's Peak chalet in Switzerland for three days" He said brightly as he remembered the vacation. At first it was pretty boring. Sure the scenery was breathtaking but after a day you've seen it but the next day they went hiking and the hotel itself had a game room which was the most important thing EVER. "My parents are muggles so we had to take the private jet to get there" he shook his head. "Since i know about the wizarding world , muggle's way of transportation is so slow!" Using the Floo powder or a portkey would have been so much faster. "I can't wait till i'm old enough to learn how to Apparate" he said. "Can you do that? i mean you're a seventh year now right?"
But scratch all the vacations because when Chloe casually added that her mother was expecting his head popped up. "You're getting a baby brother or sister?" he asked, trying his very best not to squeal. Apart from his own younger brother Daniel, Minjae used to dislike babies with a passion but after the Muggle Studies assignment last year he had found out that he was actually quite fond of them and that his dislike was actually fear that he would hurt them somehow because they were so small and fragile. And he had learned all that from just a doll. "That's so exciting! Do you hope for a brother or a sister? I wanted a little sister when my mom was pregnant but i got a little brother instead" he was still a tiiiny bit salty about that.
While the water that splashed Chloe's way made her laugh, it made him jump up for another splash had hit his back. The weather was nice so it would dry up pretty soon but not cool fountain. Not cool. A bit hesitant to sit down again, the Hufflepuff, who had not grown an inch over the summer another thing he was SALTY about proceeded to stand by putting his hands in his dress pants.
"I don't really like playing Quidditch" he said honestly. "Watching is more my thing but i agree that it's sad we haven't had a match for two years now" he remembered the first time he had ever seen a Quidditch match at school and he was blown away about it. Just not enough to try and join Hufflepuff's team. He preferred the Dueling club a lot more.

Miyu honestly just liked the peace and quiet of places like this in Diagon Alley. The fountain where she had saved a muddy boy the other day? SHe LIKED this spot, and so she was back today. On a bench, too, seated next to a girl enjoying ice cream. It looked delicious, so perhaps she would go get some later. For right now, she got comfortable, opened her journal, and began writing away...both in English and Kanji.
And she drew a bit, too. Just doodles to go along with whatever she wrote.
Eventually, though, she glanced over at the other girl, and very softly said, "What kind is that?"
