Default Flourish and Blotts

About halfway down the north side of the Alley stands Flourish and Blotts, the shop noticeable by its wide picture windows displaying all sorts of gold-embossed spellbooks, any new releases warranting advertisement and the occasional sleeping cat, as the shopkeeper’s two cats occasionally decide to make the window display their chosen napping place when they aren’t underfoot. Upon entry, all that seems to be visible are bookshelves, stacked to the ceiling and absolutely filled with books of all shapes and sizes. While it may look like chaos, there is a sort of order to the shelves and various stacks of books scattered throughout the main floor in addition to those shelved. A table sits close to the door which regularly holds sets of Hogwarts’ required textbooks every summer for the ease of students who may not want to hunt them down on their own, and a staircase, even more shelves filling the space underneath, leads up to a second floor that contains shelves of the various works of fiction from the Wizarding world and beyond.

Near the center of the shop stands the counter, where the shopkeeper can usually be found and which is also the location for the occasional book-signing or other book-related event. Surrounding the counter are displays of newspapers, magazines, diaries, journals and other small items that might interest the literary-minded customer. In addition, a large, leather-bound book rests on a small stand to the left of the counter: an index of all the books sold in the shop for the use of the customers who are in a hurry or simply don’t want to search through all the shelves on their own.

Toward the back of the shop, a door leading to a storage area and the small office used for paperwork and any other business the shopkeeper needs to take care of in private, a cat-door installed as well as the cats’ food and water while they’re in shop are there. Tucked away in various corners of the shop, half hidden by shelves and very cozy, are small reading nooks containing squashy chairs and small tables for a lamp, and a larger reading area including a fireplace can be found near one of the front windows. Enjoy!

Don't mind her. She was totally just sitting there on the floor, hopefully not in anyone's way as she flipped through one of the books she had been holding. Dahlia happened to look up as she closed the book, a girl about her age who seemed a bit confused catching her eye. "Do you need some help?" She knew where most sections were in this shop by now and if she didn't they could probably find it together.

Things had gone back to the usual what seemed like all too quickly. Granted, Elizabeth had been long aware that Diagon Alley never really closed. History proved that, and the bookshop had opened the day after the battle as if it was a normal day. Even if she was still feeling the vestiges of having fought in the battle, having been involved in the planning even. It was hard to get away from it all, but the petite blonde knew the kids would need the familiarity over the summer break. Aside from when she’d been off helping to advertise the party at Florean’s, she had been among the stacks as usual. Cleaning, organizing and doing just about everything the bookshop needed. Stepping over the cats whenever necessary, she had tried to act normal.

She had been keeping an eye on the siblings (Lisa, Maya, and Evan) for some time now, in case it appeared she was needed, but there were others in the shop as well. Ashley and another small girl (Noa), who had also gotten a smile from her as she'd passed them. Questions were always welcome.

Some older kids (Gemma and Jackson) looked to be nearing a point of being ready to pay, so she had been winding her way back to the counter when she’d come across Dahlia on the floor with a stack of books already, speaking to another young girl (Ollie) who appeared to beknew to the shop. Herbology books. She held back on interrupting for the moment, just curious if the Ravenclaw would know the answer.

Dahlia giggled softly when she noticed the girl looking around before spotting her. For a brief second she had almost said 'I'm down here' but she was glad that hadn't been necessary. It was also nice that she hadn't been asked why she was sat on the floor when there were perfectly good tables that would have done the trick.

Had the girl said? She had. A warm smile tugged at Lia's lips. "I can help with that. Are you looking for Herbology textbooks or just for your own enjoyment?" Not that it really matter either way because she knew where both were located. As she spoke, she had already begun to place her chosen books into a basket that was sat beside her on the floor. All other books were returned to their rightful place onto the selves behind her, any that didn't go there would be returned as she moved about the shop.

Out the corner of her eye she did notice the shopkeeper and she waiting to be told off for sitting on the floor with all the books. Thankfully she hadn't been. She wasn't hurting anything AND she was putting everything back exactly where it had been taken from, the ones she wouldn't be getting that is. She gave the women a warm friendly smile, with how often she came it in... it was strange she didn't already know her by name.

If Jackson had mentioned those thoughts to his mother just a few months ago then her cat’s would have followed him everywhere and she would have scryed the waters of the future.

Jackson saw how Gemma hastily wiped her eyes even if she did her best to hide it and that made him instictively big brother worry. "Are you okay Gem? Sorry if I said something about Cooper that upsetted you…" He had no idea that his sister had cried because she had thought about their dead mother.

Shrugging Jackson said "I don’t know if I’m old enough to get a tattoo. I guess the age limit is 18 like everything else is…" He wasn’t planning on actually getting a tattoo today, he just wanted to look.

"Have you got all the books you want, so we can pay and go to Sugarplums?" At least she was okay with going to the candy place. Jackson knew they’d meet friends from school there that would look at them with pity but they had to face that eventually anyway. It was best to get used to it right now.
"I'm fine, it wasn't Cooper." She hurried to get her emotions under control and she didn't want to talk about mum she didn't want to be upset in public. Noticing the Shopkeep watching them she turned to pick up another book, "This one looks interesting." She didn't really know what she was holding, but she wanted to change the subject.

"I think it is 17 since that is of age, but maybe it is younger, I don't know. I've never really thought about tattoos. You should probably figure out what you want though before you go, it will be there forever and stuff." That was a huge commitment and Gemma knew she liked to change things all the time, so a tattoo was probably not something she could handle.

"Yeah, I'm ready, lets get going." She headed to the counter with her books.

She struggled with them for a moment trying to get a better grip. "Um just personal books."Ollie was hoping there was someplace at the school she could grow her own little garden like the one at home. Maybe that's what she'd do after Hogwarts, she'd do magical gardening. She had already peeped through her textbook and had seen some of the very cool plants she'd encounter!

She peered back down at the basket of books the girl had. "What are you reading?" The girl looked around her age, maybe a year or two older. Ollie assumed this wasn't her first year here seeing how well she knew her way around. Or maybe, unlike Ollie, this wasn't her first time in Diagon Alley and her parents had brought her here before.

She tilted her head as she listened to her sister’s rationale. It was true not all monsters were immortal. She raised her eyebrows, wondering if Maya was just trying to brush it to the side. To Lisa’s dismay, this distraction tactic was working.... and working ALL. TOO. WELL. “Let’s find one.

Lisa paused at Maya’s question. She paused again, contemplating her response. She sighed, feeling surprisingly guilty about this idea. “Well the whole mind control thing... what if he really likes his new girlfriend?” she asked her older sister with big wide eyes. What if they made something go horribly wrong... Also what if Kimmie liked someone else. “What if Kimmie likes someone else???” Their whole plan would be ruined.

The idea of being Empress of Hogwarts was very appealing to this four foot two tiny girl. “I love it. All the peasants will bow to me.... I mean....” she glanced at her older sister and smirked. “Us.” Their moment of dreaming of ruling the school was ruined shortly as she heard a voice that she thought they had managed to avoid up until this point.

Ru oh Scooby Doo. They found you.

Lisa turned around with the biggest grin on her face AS IF Evan was meant to meet them here all along. “Hi Evan! What took you so long?” she asked, curiously and casually of her brother. Heh. “Where’s No?

And what made her feel a little extra giddy was how she had seemingly tricked her sister and convinced her to look for a book instead of continuing to poke holes in her feeble lie. She hummed a song she didn't quite know the words to but was fairly certain she had heard it over the radio or from Noah's room as she took her sister's hand and walked along the aisles.

Maya stopped in her tracks when she heard her younger sister sigh and looked at her big eyes. The ones that often convinced their brothers to do her bidding. "Well... what if we just use mind control just so he tells us the truth about how much he likes his new girlfriend?" she asked. Though they wouldn't need to use mind control for that. Maya had read in one of Noah's textbooks about a potion that could do that very thing. Her heart sunk at the mention of Kimmie liking someone else. "But... what if Noah tells us he actually misses Kimmie and Kimmie tells us the same thing? Then we could make them get back together... and they'll be happy and we'll be happy too." There. That solved it.

She giggled at Lisa as she mentioned peasants bowing down to her. "Of course they'll bow do-"

Oh no.

They didn't need to turn around to know who that voice belonged to. Like Lisa, Maya turned around, smiling innocently as though they hadn't just run away from their brothers. "Evan!" she exclaimed, feigning shock. "We thought you guys were right behind us," she said as she peered around Evan, just to be sure Noah wasn't following.

He was still looking through the books, already edging away from the sisters as he browsed titles, having reached the Astronomy section now and pulling some books off the shelves so he could add them to his collection. Astronomy was a great interest to have, because his youngest sister usually seemed interested too. So not only was he expanding HIS mind by buying books, but also Lisa's. And probably Maya's as well because none of them were strangers to browsing the other's book case in their room.

So really, spending more of his money on books was like a public service.

Hearing his sisters ask where he'd been did cause him to pause on his scavenge, turning to look at them and blinking. Were they supposed to be meeting here? And then the question of 'Where's No' woke him up and reminded him why he was here in the first place. "You two gave us the slip! Why even??? Noah and I had to split up to go looking for you! He's probably checking the other side of Diagon Alley!"

Now sisters were getting ANNOYED LOOKS. Though he did pause in his glaring to smile at the Shopkeeper when he noticed her glancing over at them as well. Book keepers and librarians could have Evan smiles.

Sisters currently got glares.

She hadn’t thought to ask that question of Noah’s new girlfriend. “Ooooor we could just make her buy us sweets and drive us around and braid our hair.” She proclaimed all of this with a wide smile as she clapped her hands excitedly. “But first we ask him about his new girlfriend and then we ask her to do stuff for us.” After all, Noah having a girlfriend had to be beneficial to them, right? Once again Maya had another good point. What if Noah did miss Kimmie and she missed him? Lisa had a feeling that it was all rather complicated. Feelings. Blah. She didn’t like. She giggled to herself as she thought of Ash’s comment from the other day about ‘special friends’. However, once again, too late to ask her. Evan was hereeeee and she needed to act all surprised and innocent

The very things she was not.

Lisa noted the annoyed look and met it with her best impression of her mother’s disappointed face. Even though she was eleven, she knew the sucker punch trick of pouting slightly and looking a little upset. She had seen this facial expression only a handful (the number associated with handful was certainly up to interpretation here and in Lisa’s mind the number erred on the side of thousands) of times. “Did you forget? We were playing hide and seek. We talked about this when we were camping....” sighed Lisa, glancing away from the mean glare. Gosh Evan could be so so cold with that glare.

Lisa hadn’t noticed the shopkeeper until she saw Evan look in a certain direction. She followed his gaze and found the lady watching them. Oops. She quickly glanced down at the bright pink Gumball coloured gum boots before glancing back up at Evan. She opened her mouth and paused when she saw their eldest brother behind them. “Noaaaaah. Hi.” Cue puppy dog eyes.

Noah had run to the other side of the Alley looking for two young Korean girls and unfortunately hadn’t been able to find them. So he started making his way back to the other side of the Alley to see if Evan had found them. Merlin...... He had to stop to catch his breath.... He was feeling dizzy. Ever since the war, he hadn’t slept well and had less energy. Things took a lot longer to accomplish. And he was much thinner.... Once his breath was caught, he remembered his task and his shoulders slumped.

Maaaaan. Oh maaan. His parents were going to be so upset.... He had lost his siblings .... AGAIN. Both he and Evan had done that this time.

Fortunately, the first place he checked was F&B. He had a sneaking suspicion that they would be here....

Rounding one of the bookcases, he walked up behind Evan with his arms folded. “Well, well, well..... What do we have here?” he asked, making direct eye contact with Lisa’s puppy dog eyes. “Fancy finding you two here in cahoots.

"Okay, I can show you were some really good ones are. Do you like Herbology?" It sounded that way if she was looking for some books to do reading on her own.

Lia's gaze drifted to the books in her basket before returning to the girl. "Right now I'm mostly reading up on focusing and controlling my magic. I like to read about a lot of things though." Which was why she had many different types of books in the basket and not only what she had mentioned. "I'm Dahlia by the way. Most everyone calls me Lia though." She smiled lightly before gesturing that the girl follows her towards the Herbology section.

She nodded and set her books down in the basket. "I do a lot of.. what do they call it... muggle gardening. I'd love to start studying herbology though." She imagined all the magical plants she'd be able to grow and learn about. She imagined that her mother loved gardening and thats where she got it from. Lord knows her father couldn't keep a plant alive to save his life. She had the green thumb between the two of them. "I'm Olive." She wants to ask the girl about what year she was but decided not to. The girl looked busy before Ollie came along, she'd let her return to her plans when she was finished.

Oh, my, gosh! Another plant lover! If they weren't in a book shop she probably would've squealed in pure delight. "So do I. I have a small garden at home as well as some plants in my room. I was growing a few at school too." She would be more than willing to help her learn more about Herbology. "It's nice to meet you, Olive."

Stops walking when the reach the Herbology section. "Everything related to Herbology is right here." Lia ran her finger over several of the books until she came to one she was looking it for, removing it from the shelf and holding it out to Olive. "This is one of my favorites. It lists a whole bunch of different plants and how to take care of them."

Ollie looked at the overwhelming amount of books in the section. How can you write so much about plants? She took the book that was offered to her. Thick. This might be a good travel book. "Thanks. Any others you recommend?"This was obviously a girl who knew about plants and books. "My dad only lets me garden outside, but if I could my room would be full!" She would! She'd leave her fruits and veggies outside and have beautiful greenery all around her room. It would bring some life in there.

Dahlia smiled. "You're welcome." Anything to help a fellow plant lover. Olive was asking her for more book recommendations?! Squee! Yes! Of course she could do that. "Sure, I can do that." While her smile may have grown a bit larger, Lia tried hard not to seem to overly excited.

"Let's see..." Stepping a bit closer to one of the shelves the twelve year old went right back to running her finger across each book as she silent read the title. "Well what do you like to grow in your garden at home? What would you like to grow if you were allowed to?" Both answers would help what books Lia might select for her new friend. "There's greenhouses at Hogwarts with lots of different plants.. just make sure you speak with the professor before planting anything of your own inside the student areas first." She didn't think there was a rule about asking permission to use the student garden but she thought it polite to do so first.

SPOILER!!: Ash
This was actually not a book of poetry. It was a book about flesh-eating trees, and her mind had just blanked. But, she was not presently going to admit that to someone who already thought she was crazy. So, Ash picked an actual poetry book of the shelf too. "Oooh I think I'll also get this one on flesh-eating trees." Now the girl would not be able to notice unless she was paying super close attention. Problem solved. Ash could relax. "Musings are like deep thoughts or whatever, and poetry is like deep thoughts, but with rhyming and intentional literary devices. At least that's what my muggle school told me." Hogwarts had not told her anything on the subject, actually. Too bad. Missed opportunity. "Maybe you should pick a novel. Or like, a CoMC textbook. I dunno." Different types of books, but both were pretty popular. So reasonable guess. "Nice to meet you Noa." Introductions are kinda pointless these days, Ash thought. People should just tell me their name and get on with it, since we both already know what my name is. Still, pretending she didn't know why they knew who she was was fun. She could just pretend to be a regular person. It was better that way.[/QUOTE]

The fact that Ash had originally picked up a book on flesh-eating trees and not poetry, and had then picked up a poetry book to cover herself, went completely unnoticed by Noa. She was too preoccupied with a) unwanted memories of last term, and b) now, the idea of flesh-eating trees. “Flesh-eating trees?” Noa asked, honestly quite curious but also a little wary. They sounded... scary. Much scarier than Seth the venus flytrap at her friend Dahlia’s house, that’s for sure.

Hmm. In response to Ash’s answer about musings vs. poetry, more questions came to mind. So, naturally, she asked them. “Do you write poetry? Or do you just read it?” Because writing poetry sounded hard, with all the literary devices and everything. Noa didn’t keep a journal either, so even just writing deep thoughts sounded tricky, nevermind turning them into poetry. At her other girl’s suggestions, she shrugged, looking a little sheepish. “I don’t really read novels,” she admitted. Was that strange? She wasn’t a big reader, generally, though she wanted to change that, which was one of the reasons she was in here in the first place. She just struggled sometimes with reading, which made her not want to do it. “I think a Care of Magical Creatures one would be nice, though,” she considered. She had always enjoyed that subject but it was one that was definitely growing on her. Noa smiled when Ash returned the greeting before gazing over the books. It was a little awkward with them both knowing that she knew who Ash was, but she was determined not to let that make the whole interaction awkward. Ash seemed like a nice enough person and Noa was enjoying talking to her.

Ollie was very excited to hear this information. There was a student greenhouse!! She started imagining her little section. "I have some strawberries and tomatoes in the garden." She thought for a moment about what she'd have in her room. "I would defiantly have a snake plant in my room. A monster too! A pretty fern, some succulents, a peperomia, a .. " Ollie stopped herself. It was easy for her to get overly excited about the plants she wanted to care for, but she didn't want to overwhelm the girl.

Well there was more like a section in one of the greenhouses for the students but it counted. "Strawberries and tomatoes.." Lia hummed softly, nodding her head for good measure as if that would help in committing it to memory. "Mm-hmm, I think I have a good idea of what you like." It sounded like a really nice variety. A bit like herself really.

"There's so many different types of plants and flowers. Even when you find a certain type you prefer there can be loads of varieties for that one type. There's always something new and exciting to learn." That was why she enjoyed Herbology and Creatures. It was why she loved to read. Speaking of reading.. her fingers stopped on a particular book and she gently removed it from the shelf. "This is another really good one. It focuses more on magical plants but it's incredibly informative and the detail work in the photos is helpful too."

Ollie nodded and took the book in her hands. "I know! Its hard to pick a favorite." Of course she had a favorite, the Clematis. It was her favorite shade of purple. She never had one because they were quite hard to find, but if she did she would treat it like an ACTUAL child. "Thanks for the help. Its easy to get lost in here" She laughed. It was hard. She just barely managed to find the other books she needed and had spent waaayyyy too long in this shop already.

"Mm, I guess it can be." For her that favorite had always been there. The Dahlia. And no she it wasn't her favorite because it was the flower she was named after. Or perhaps it was. Truthfully she couldn't be sure anymore. For as long as she could remember that's the one she liked best.

Lia smiled. "You're welcome. I didn't mind at all." If anything she had made a friend while getting to talk about a topic she enjoyed. "I should properly head on over to the checkout counter now though.. before my siblings start to think I got lost of something." Dahlia laughed softly.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

The problem Emmerson typically had with school shopping was how it had the ability to pull her out of her summer vacation mode. Who wanted to be hunting for books like 'One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi' when there were beaches to lay on, boys to get compliments from, cute dresses to buy and friends to hang out with? Wasn't it bad enough she had to worry about this stuff for MOST of her year?

Barely two months to catch her breath, remember who she was and build herself back up for the next inevitable fall and she had to spend it walking among bookhelves with overzealous firsties who didn't know better than to touch the Monster Book of Monsters.

Emmerson stepped over a boy currently under attack--obviously younger, obviously didn't know the first thing about magic if he was touching books that moved and growled--and made her way further down the shelves.

If she could get this over with, there was every chance she could walk the streets a bit and hope some of her friends were doomed to the same fate on this day.

Where the heck was that transfiguration book???

There wasn’t a real reason why she was here, since her school books for term two had already been purchased. No time to be wasted!! Remy loved the freedom of summer and all the things that there was to do, but shopping in Diagon Alley was something she found just as fun as everything else. The thrill of being a Hogwarts student clearly hadn’t worn off just yet, despite being ALMOST a second year!!!

She was very much looking forward to not being the baby anymore, and couldn’t wait to boss show the new firsties around. However, rather than offering a helping hand, the young boy who was struggling with the Monster Book of Monsters just received staaaares over the top of the book that she was reading.

ANYWAY - the Gryffindor snapped the book shut and went to return it to where she had found it, on a higher shelf. Stepping onto a stool nearby, Remy tippy-toed on top of it to tuck the book back into place. Hopefully the shopkeeper wouldn’t mind her touching the books and then putting them back… there hadn’t been a global pandemic for at least a century, right?

After jumping down to the ground again, Remy noticed a familiar but not so friendly face almost directly in front of her. Emmerson. She spun so quickly on her heel that she forgot the stool was behind her and stubbed her big toe on its leg. “AH!!!” Remy hoisted her foot up and grabbed it as she yelped in pain. Karma, that was.

Was it a little odd getting used to everything being, basically, back to normal around the Alley after the war? Absolutely, and Elizabeth had felt it that much more. Although for the most part the back room was returned to the state it had been in pre-secret meetings, she still felt a bit like she ought to be on her guard still. Even the twins being back from France hadn’t quite eased that feeling in the back of her mind, nor the fact Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were still roaming the shop as if nothing had ever happened. In an odd way, the cats bouncing back was what made things stranger.

However, the petite blonde was keeping an eye over her shop as she’d done since day one of taking the bookshop over, acknowledging in the back of her mind that she ought to go check on the maze if there was ever a slow period. So far, things were busy, like every summer. Kids always needed their books, some more than others, and some apparently needed a reminder that books were often dangerous. The boy taunting the copy of the Monster Book of Monsters had been taken care of rather quickly once she had noticed it, not without the tome having taken a nip or two at the boy’s fingers. Hopefully that would be a good enough lesson, but she was planning to continue keeping an eye on him until he left.

Also, no, she didn’t mind people touching the books and then putting them back. As long as there were no injuries from climbing on the stacks, that is, or from tripping over the stool that had been used. “Is everything okay here?,” she asked, stepping over to where the two girls were gathered.

Had it not been for the sudden yelp behind her, Emmerson might have continued through the book shop uninterrupted. Operations like this were meant to be fairly quick, not for leisure and not the sort of place she wanted to linger. In fact, the Gryffindor might still have continued walking if it weren't for years of conditioning from Hogwarts in paying attention when you heard a loud voice.

Emm swiveled around faster than she could remind herself she didn't care about anyone in this shop and that it didn't really matter if they were dying. If this wasn't a sure sign she needed a longer vacation, she didn't know what would be.

Oh.

That Remy girl.

Not dying, either.

Emmerson took a moment to appraise the girl as she leaned against a nearby shelf. She already held her in slightly higher esteem for no longer being a First Year. It was the hierarchy of things, of course, just the way things worked. There was a new crop to have do your bidding and the old ones were slowly heading into retirement. She herself had officially put down her "younger student" robes. Going into fourth year, she could officially be lumped with the older set and was here for it.

"That look like it hurt." She observed, not an ounce of concern to be found, not a sprinkle of care. Why should there be? It wasn't her toe and it wasn't Kizzy's. "You should be more careful, get people like him to do the heavy lifting nonsense for you." She said, nodding toward the boy who still struggled to get the book off him there on the ground. "Well....if he lives. But, there are plenty of new bloods roaming the alley, you really shouldn't be trying to give yourself extra work to do." Remy needed to rise to the occasion and take her place before she got knocked back down to the babies.

The pain was so severe that Remy had forgotten who surrounded her for a split second. Holding on to her foot seemed to make a world of difference, and the throbbing slooowly eased into something much more manageable. She carefully let her foot drop to the ground again and gave the shopkeeper dramatic, sad eyes as she checked in on her. No, she wouldn't cry, but she needed attention immediately or she would simply pass away. "I'm okay... I think my toe might be bleeding." But not broken. "Good job I'm a Gryffindor." Remy let out a pathetic 'ha'. It was a red joke... it also could pass as a bravery joke.. because she wasn't crying.

That look like it hurt. Really, Captain Obvious?

Remy slowly turned to give Emmerson a look of distaste. "Duh - of course it hurt." Had she never stubbed a toe before? It felt like being stabbed. She raised an eyebrow at her explanation of getting younger kids to do her bidding for her. OH - that made sense... Emmerson had a vendetta against first years, didn't she?

Well, she wasn't a first year anymore so HA.

"That's so mean... I'd never make someone else do stuff that I can easily do myself." Nor would she treat first years any less than her, because she knew how much it sucked being a first year. "That's just lazy." Did she mention it was mean? Okay, but that boy with the book was pure entertainment by this point. It made her curious as to why the shopkeeper was helping her rather than him. Were her theatrics really that impressive?

"Ah, you're one of those, then."Emmerson continued, ignoring all the girl had said. It was important to fit people into categories, know which were which. It made it a lot easier when it came to how much consideration she would give to any situation.

"Work smart, not hard. Never heard of it?" She supposed not if she was calling it both "mean" and "lazy". When you left others to do your bidding, it opened your day up to getting more things done yourself; more important things. "You're here stubbing your toe over nothing when you could already be halfway through another book, but sure is great to know you did it all alone...I guess." There was no hiding the sarcasm, it was the largest load of nonsense she'd heard this morning.

"Though I suppose when you don't have much going on, it doesn't seem so critical having delegation opportunities." She'd bet a galleon this would be the highlight of the girl's summer and the thought of that was near sad enough for the Gryffindor to feel bad...were she someone Emmerson typically spared a thought for.

It was sad, of course, but more in a cosmic sort of way that more closely aligned with pathetic.

The shopkeeper, she spared only a cursory glance and a nod to indicate she was 'Ok' but whatever standard she was using to determine that.

Now where was she?

Oh yes, Remy Gaeltheos, the bleeding heart with the Hufflepuff work ethic. "Reading anything good at least?"

This older Gryffindor was certainly giving Remy the same vibes she had always given her. It was good to know that her ability to read other people was pretty darn accurate. “What do you mean, ‘one of those’? A decent human… being?” The tail end of the question came out as a bit of a wobble. Despite her distaste of Emmerson, she still thought the girl would put her in her place by pulling her hair or something. She was but a mere first year second year. Plus Emmerson was considered as a popular kid in Remy’s book so she didn’t wanna ruin her rep at school too much.

Her brows scrunched a little as she actually considered what the girl was saying. She couldn’t figure out if she was trying to give her advice or she was trying to set her up to fail. “How could I just make someone to do stuff for me? Wouldn’t they just tell me to go away?” Not that she was considering any of this for a second, obviously….

I’ll have you know, Remy Gaeltheos has had a very eventful summer so far, thank you very much. Being in Diagon Alley beat staying at home, even if you were just casually sitting in a book store on your own. Okay, it did sound a little sad when you put it like that.

Just reading about some advanced transfiguration… for curiosity.” No doubt Emmerson would judge her and make her feel bad about her choice of book.
