Outdoor Patio In the corner in the back of level four, looking from the inside it looks like you can walk right out into the outside. The outdoor patio isn’t really outdoors. It’s only a charmed room to give you the look and feel of being outside. You wouldn’t know the difference. Fair warning however the weather outside reflects the weather at the patio, in winter the time a firepit and warming charms are used, so it can be used year around. This area can be used by all Ministry employees. A great spot for lunch or for a meeting. If you are wanting to use the space as a meeting place. Ministry business has priority, please let Department head Noah O’donnell know so he can put up a notice to let others know is being used for business purposes. |
*parks this guy here* Open for anybody! :) Adhemar was beginning to really like this department. A zen garden and an outdoor patio? Nice! And to think all his life he thought the Ministry would be a boring place to work... Wow, it was warmer than he thought it would be out here! Thank Merlin for warming charms, right? Ad's blue eyes darted around the patio, searching for someone to talk to, but it looked like he was the only one out here. Oh well, no matter! He pulled up a chair next to the firepit and took a stack of files out of his bag. He was glad this place was here because he was not the type to stay cooped up inside behind a desk all day! He pored over the files he'd brought with him. Hmm... it seemed there was a problem with ramoras mysteriously dying. Sounded like a possible future expedition! |

Things were looking up though. Today he was in the mood to bring his work outside. It was a good, that he had added the warming charms to the outdoor patio. It was chilly outside when he came into work this morning. It would be nice and cozy out there by now. He gathered some of his files tucked them under his arm and headed out to the patio. Too his surprise he seen Adhemar already out there working as well. "Looks like we had the same idea on where would be the best area to get our work done today." He said with a smile as he pulled his chair up to the opposite table for the fire pit, and sat his files down. |
o p e n Howwwwww refreshing. A good old cup of coffee and time to put her feet up. This was a twenty minute break she was taking, whilst she waited on some paperwork to get signed off. Whoever thought having this patio was a good idea was a genius, definitely. Maybe they needed to be taken on a date or something. Maddy needed to sack off his wife already so Eliora could let him take her out. It was the least he could do for being a stick in the mud alllllllllll of the time at work. Ahhhhhhhh caffeine. |

It was no forest, but the little tucked away patio was the little sliver of nature (fabricated or not) was enough to satisfy his craving of the outdoors. At least until the end of the work day. With his boxed lunch of sorts clutched in the same furoshiki he had used since he was 11, he stepped into the area and somewhat recognized the woman present. Enough so to recall she worked in Accidents & Catastrophes at least. "Oh. Not alone today then," he greeted with a small nod of the head. |

The Dodderidge effect. "I don't have any more coffee to share." Actually, she had three nearby but they were NOT to share. Eliora did not share coffee. |
Lisa <3 and anyone else if you wanna crash! Life starts at 30, they say. But still, Kat felt no different. Except for the fact that she was old, seriously, the former Slytherin was rather happy with life as it is now. Cassidy had turned five, the big FIVE, years old a couple of days ago. The little redhead was still as hyper as ever--Kat would never admit she got tired of chasing her kid around. On top of that, Kristopher had started walking around while holding onto their furniture, and knocking a couple of them down in the process. It was crazy, but nothing she can't handle without pulling a few strands of her hair off her head. And Cle? Still the love of her life. But for now, since it was break time, Kat would rather not spend it inside the office. Instead, she was out here in the patio, although it wasn't exactly outside... could it? They were in the middle levels of the Ministry, after all, but props for the people who charmed the place. It looked perfectly real, and perhaps it was a nice place to unwind as well. |

On her lunch break, Olly had decided against going back upstairs to the food court, seeing as she'd brought her own homemade sandwich. Adulting, that's what that was called, wasn't it? She felt like a pretty good adult lately, too. Upon walking into the patio, Olly noticed a fellow employee from her department, Kat. She gave the woman a polite smile and...walked over to her. Since she'd just decided she was being a good adult and that usually included conversing with other people. Even those she wasn't friends with. "Hello". That was a good start, wasn't it? |
Quote:
However, she didn't mind company as well. Kat turned to face her fellow employee, and recognised that it was Olly. She remembered they went to Hogwarts together... years ago. A really long time ago, but the former Slytherin would rather not remind herself of how far away she was from her youth. "Hi," she greeted, offering a smile. It was strange to think that she had known Olly by name since those Hogwarts days, but never really got to talk to her until they both started working in the ministry. "I hope your day is going well so far," Kat said. At least they were half way through. |
Quote:
"How's your day been so far?" |
Quote:
She nodded to Olly's response. The ministry life was one she had to take time to adjust to at first, but now it all seemed like clockwork. "Uneventful so far," Kat shared, rubbing on the tip of her nose. "Got a pile of files on places we have to check out. Ranger stuff." Really, it was the bright side of her job here at the Ministry. They had more field work as environmental rangers, and a load of paperwork on top too. |
Quote:
That sounded like most days in their department lately. Olly made another mental note to ask Noah if she could have more people in her Division. She really could use some new voices. As for what Kat had just said, that did get Olly's attention somewhat. Ranger stuff. "What exactly do you do there?" When they went out to "check out" places. Of course she knew what their job description was but she sometimes did wonder what it entailed in real life. |
Quote:
"Oh, let's say... we're aurors against rogue plants and occasionally creatures," Kat said, a small smile creeping on her face. It was an easier way to put it, and how she would describe her job to her children without having to fully explain everything. "We also sometimes have to pay visits to sanctuaries and make sure everything's safe, no wandering muggles within the perimeter." Because the last thing the blond wanted to deal with was a muggle eaten whole by a magical plant. They've had their rough days, for sure. Speaking of their jobs... "How's your division going?" she asked. Laboratory work seemed rather interesting, too. |
Quote:
That was funny. And she wasn't usually one to find things amusing. But plant humor was apparently right down her alley. She took a bite of her sandwich and chewed slowly, listening to Kat. Interesting. "So do you work together with other departments then? Like, A&C?" Somehow she'd been so focused on her Botany and now her new division that Olly had never questioned what the other people in her department were in charge of. Speaking of, indeed. "Well. Albeit a bit slow. I'm in contact with a few universities who are working on different kinds of soil. And we have to try it out and record the effects on the plants." It probably sounded boring but honestly, she loved it. |
Quote:
Weird. Was she losing her voice or something? "Sorry," she said, clearing her throat. Anyhow, Kat continued to listen to Olly. She didn't find it boring at all, but she'd still prefer her current job. Anything that got her moving and was hands-on was Kat's type of work. "Do you work on cross-breeding plants too?" Perhaps there would be some that would benefit her in potions-making, soon enough. So many plants had potential. Who knew? |
Quote:
THAT would be a reason she could get behind. Olly did notice the small change in pitch in Kat's voice but didn't make much of it. Voices did that sometimes, didn't they? And it appeared to have been just that once. So naturally she just shook her head when the other woman apologized. No need. Really. "We do. But it's not a priority at the moment." They might have to have a division meeting soon about that actually. |
Morgan was booooored in his office, and even more so, bored with January at the moment. She was so invested in work. How tiring a life! Morgan needed a little sunshine, so he headed for the patio. He had explored all of the Ministry when he'd first been elected, so he knew this brilliant and magical place existed. He was not alone, however, and he smiled at the two as he arrived. "Why hello you two..." Whose names he did not remember because they were only Level Four's. Everyone knew Level Four was one of the least needed levels of all. Why couldn't he just disband it? Hm. It was an idea. Plants and creatures and...other unimportant things. "How goes you both? I'm fine, before you ask," He shot them both a finger gun and winked. |
Quote:
Olly was too engrossed in her conversation with Kat as well as with finishing her sandwich that she had completely missed someone else walking out onto the patio. She identified the voice as a man's but didn't know who it belonged to until she turned around to face him. Oh. "Minister." What...was he doing out here? She'd never seen him around here. Ever. And what was it with the finger guns? "Good. Thank you, Sir." Did he need anything? Was he here for...the plants? |
Text Cut: Olly and Mr. Minister! Kat figured it was pretty much like that with the other woman's division. They seemed pretty hands-on among themselves, as compared to her work as a ranger. Speaking of crossbreeding not being their priority, it got Kat thinking. "What are you and your team working on now?" If only Olly didn't mind the question, but the blond would understand if it were confidential. She was sure it would be beneficial stuff, and maybe it would even turn out to be interesting as well. Work was work, after all. However, the unexpected visit from the Minister was not unwelcome. The former Slytherin turned around and offered a smile to the man. "Good day, sir," Kat greeted. She had seen the minister before, but it was only now that she got to hold a real conversation with him. Oh, and... finger guns? What was it with that gesture? "Fine as well, sir. Thank you." But... "What brings you here, sir?" Because it was a mindset that Kat had, that there was always a reason behind everything. She also had to clear her throat again, felt dry. Ugh. |
sorry this took so long! What brought him here?! "My WHIMSY brought me here! Because why NOT?" he said as did a two-stepped little jig to his left. "It is beautiful in here! Out here! Whatever!" he sighed a little in a content way. "I always wonder what the purpose of Level Four is. Perhaps both of you could help me..." Creatures? Environment? Plants? PFFFFFTTTT! "Ah! Let me think of your names! My goal is to know everyone's names in the entire ministry! You are..." He looked at Kat. "Patricia! And you..." Olly. "Nataliaaaaaa!" |
It wasn't confidential at all, no. And honestly, Olly quite appreciated the other woman's interest in her field. "Sustainability mostly. Such as recycling. And producing sustainable and if possible biodegradable products." She would have gone into more detail but it was right then that they were interrupted by the Minister. Who......appeared to have similar questions? Or did he honestly not know which departments were on this floor? Olly had learned never to assume things so decided to answer in the most basic of terms. "Level Four is Magical Creatures and Environmental Protection and Regulation, Sir." Maybe he had so much on his plate that he couldn't keep up with all the departments and their whereabouts. Maybe. As for their names. "Olly, Sir. Olly Clarke." Not Natalia. |
Kat smiled a tiny bit as Olly went on, given she took sustainable potioneering during her university years as her specialisation. Her extra classes in Herbology had helped her too, so what Olly shared had caught her interest. Definitely. Though, really, was the minister seriously asking them what level four did? And the both departments' purpose? Sure he was new, but Kat had already assumed that at least he'd know by now. Best not to assume things, indeed. And what in Merlin's beard did he mean by whimsy? He was strange, Kat thought, and she'd thought he was quite okay during the orientation. "Making sure both magical and mundane plants and creatures are taken good care of, sir, and kept safe from muggle interaction," the blond shared too, adding to Olly's response. Kat figured that was general enough for the minister to get the gist. On the other hand, she also had no idea where he got that name. "I'm Katrina, sir, or Kat for short." Who the heck was Patricia? |
