Addison smiled pleasantly watching those that weren't walking about mingling at least enjoying some of the different foods. It was certainly something. Better then not showing up at all.
Sipping her coffee as she listened to the two men discuss moving and traveling had her thinking about her own small travels. It had been nice at the time but now raising a son she had to admit finally being in one place was nice as well. Allowing Koen to continue growing up in one place would be good for him, allow him to form stronger bonds with those his age.
It appeared to be settled then. Addison wasn't sure whom Mordred was, probably the man with the dragon eggs but hopefully he wouldn't mind a few more people. Dragons were very popular for children and adults alike.
Thomas' question had the blonde setting her coffee cup down beside her on one of the long tables. "For our department specifically there isn't to much happening right now. This summer however the ministry will be hosting the Youth Quidditch event this summer. The Mysteries department may not be directly responsible for anything at the event but everyone is welcome to attend." It was something she would most certainly get more information on if anyone wanted it.

Oliver made a beeline for the refreshment table. Might as well get something to eat which not only provided him with some sustenance but also allowed him to hang back and watch while he was under the guise of being occupied. And then he could scope out who to talk to. 'Please help yourself...' yes, he definitely would.
As he took advantage of the vegetables and dip, he took a look around the room. Most people were talking to one person who he heard introduce herself. Ah, yes, their new department head. He'd have to go over and say hello to Addison himself once the crowd died down, but for now he'd wait until he saw the opportunity. No need to overwhelm the poor woman.
His eyes scanned the room a bit, landing on one that he recognized from the Ever-Locked Room (Hazel). He thought for a moment about saying hello, giving her a half-smile, before noticing another man beating him to the punch. Again, maybe he'd wait for a pause in conversation. Somehow he just didn't finding striking up conversation in a room of people that he didn't know or barely knew as easy as his sister.
Still hanging out near the food table, Oliver glanced up at the younger woman (Sam) as she selected a few things for herself. She also seemed to take to the side of the room and he sort of wondered if she was also a newer employee. "Hello," he nodded to her. "I'm Oliver... I don't believe we've met," he added before taking a bite of a carrot stick loaded up with dip.
As Sam finished chewing a delicious bite of a chocolate donut, she heard a voice that sounded oddly as though it was speaking to her... Eyes darting in its direction, she found herself looking at a polite seeming man who apparently was watching her eat a chocolate donut. It was slightly relieving to see the man eat a carrot stick, since a handshake was not going to happen. Sam looked at her finger that had just gained a bit of icing on top and smiled sheepishly at him. She let her tongue greet her teeth to make sure there was no residue before introducing herself,"I'm Sam."Why did I choose the messiest food here? Darn you donuts!"You would be correct, I'm new here," Sam said. She had a tendency to assume everyone else knew what they were doing and/or had been with the Ministry longer than she. It was usually a safe bet.
Sam took the last bite of her donut and wiped her fingers off on a napkin. San continued, "Sorry, couldn't help myself... Haven't eaten yet today and I have a soft spot for... well, food. I have to admit, I did the same thing at Orientation." Sam smiled at Oliver, "So may I ask what you do here?" This was one of those questions, where Sam wasn't sure if she actually was allowed to ask about others, even if she was an Unspeakable too. She had played it safe and not told anyone, but it was easy when she didn't know anyone.

Socialising may not always be the first front on Val's mind while at work. But there were exceptions, considering the new head making her debut. His presence couldn't remain optional in that case. Still though, old habits required a minimum of three consecutive weeks to break from a theory. As evidenced by the wall-flowering throughout this whole time. One could assume he was enjoying the delectables, which was partially true.
On the other half, Val was definitely taking his job literal as an Unspeakable. Not out of shyness, but the actions of mingling naturally came easier for many than himself. Until he was no longer the remaining soul on the wall as he looked toward in his new boss' direction. "..Addison Anders, correct? I'm Val Tarantino, also recently hired." Oh one more thing. "Nice idea having us all here." He wondered who else had similar feelings.

There was a man whom appeared to be alone for the moment. In all honesty with all the people in the room and the talking going on she hadn't even noticed him arrive. She did however see him standing there now. Just as she was about to excuse herself from the conversation she was having for a brief second to introduce herself she found she didn't have to.
"I am. It's nice to meet you Val, how are you liking it so far?" Addison responded with a light smile, holding her hand out to shake his. It was tough being new at times but it couldn't be to bad when the boss was new as well, right? "Thank you, I thought so too. Usually food is a nice ice breaker for most people." If nothing else at least they all were fed.

"I'm actually new here myself," he told her, figuring she might not know given that she was a new employee also and he likely wouldn't appear young enough that i might be his first job or anything. "I'm a potioneer in the Ever-Locked Room, what about yourself?" He figured there was something of an unspoken rule among Unspeakables that they could discuss job related occurrences among themselves, it was outside the department they had to be concerned about. "What about you?"
He glanced over at the crowd surrounding their new department head again, hearing a man (Thomas) ask about plans for their department, which piqued his interest a bit. Youth Quidditch event? He nodded thoughtfully as Addison relayed that answer back to the man. He wasn't the biggest fan of Quidditch but it might be something fun to take his boys to. He'd have to find out exactly when that was taking place.

"So how are you liking everything thus far? Working here... this party... I met our new Head briefly, and she seems quite nice. Well I guess you could expect that when she throws an office party huh?"

This was only a little gathering. Nothing like last year when she was made Head of the Department and had to introduce herself to everyone on her staff. No, this was nothing like that. It was more laid back. A welcome back for the older workers and a 'hello' of sorts for the new ones. Nothing at all fancy or uncomfortable about this morning.
Addison had set out several different foods from vegetable and fruit platters, to different types of bagels and spreads for them, to salads and a few other things. A little bit of a variety to satisfy everyone hopefully. Just as with the drinks a pot of tea was brewing, coffee was ready, bottles of water were cold in the fridge, soda for those that liked it. In her mind if people were kept fed and full they worked better.
It also meant that they would be listening when she explained to them what all would be happening this year. Now all she needed was for them to begin arriving and hopefully on time.

England. Dimitri still wasn't sure about his decision to move back after all these years, and he certainly wasn't overly impressed with their Ministry either. Already he missed St. Petersburg and wished he had stayed there, mainly to be closer to his son. But the thorn in his side that was his ex-wife wouldn't allow it. So there he was, making his way past security checkpoint after security checkpoint until he managed to find himself on the ninth level.
Of course he expected no one to give him trouble for being down here. He was an Unspeakable after all. Though he was quite surprised to see everything so ... dead. Was no one here yet? Or had they all mysteriously disappeared? After picking a random door at the entrance, the time manipulation specialist wandered from room to room looking for signs of human life.
Finally, after what seemed like hours of searching, he came upon what looked like an employee break room. The door was ajar, and he saw a woman setting up various foods and beverages. He quietly examined her before walking into the room.
"Zdravstvu--" Dimitri began greeting her. He stopped himself though to quickly remind himself that he was no longer in Russia. He doubted anyone here spoke the language. He coughed and then tried again. "Hello. I'm Dimitri Diggle. Are you by any chance Miss Anders, the department head?"

It was weird to be back in the ministry after so long. She had worked here so long ago, she has met Thomas here.. She pushed the nostalgia back as she headed towards level nine. She was an unspeakable again, though this time in English. She was wondering how this place would be different from the French Ministy.
Andrina raised her hand to make sure her black hair was in place, her purple eyes looking around as she tried to find out where to go..
Her black heels clicked on the floors as she moved around the level, trying various doors before hearing some voices down the hall a bit. She walked quicker down the hall and opened a door to see two people in a break room.
"Hello. " The woman said with a warm smile. "I'm Andrina Black. " She extended a hand to the woman first before turning to the man.
Sam bounced into the room. She had spent a lot of time by herself in the Ever-Locked Room and she was kind of really really relieved to have a new adventure in front of her. She walked in the room and noticed her boss, Addison Anders. She walked up with a bit more confidence than at the last shindig they had had in here. Well, it probably helped that she was here a bit earlier than others, so she had less people to compete with.
"Hey there Miss Anders! I love these parties, I like getting to see all of the faces without all of the stress..." she looked around. It was still a bit slow in here, but everyone was probably either on their way or caught up in their work. That happened a lot.
There were a couple of people here, but none she knew (besides Addison). "Hello," she smiled at each of them. "I'm Sam Forrester."

Addy had some time on her hands. Possibly only a few minutes but it was still enough time to get herself something to drink. Pulling open the fridge she took out a bottle of water, twisting the cap off and taking a sip.
The quiet sound of the break room door being pushed open further caught the women's attention. Turning she noticed the man enter and gave him a gentle smile opening her mouth to greet him but stopping before anything was said.
Zdrav- what now?
Addison blinked in confusion which quickly faded away as the man went on to finish speaking in English. "I am but please, Addison is just fine. It's nice to meet you Dimitri," she gave a warm smile. "I hope you don't mind but what language was that you were speaking?" Yes she was curious. And if she didn't ask chances were it would drive her insane so best to find out now.
Not moments later did someone else enter. Another new employee (Andrina). This made two out of the three for this year. Not a bad start. "Hello, Addison Anders but call me Addison," she greeted holding her hand out to the women. She really liked to keep things formal with everyone. First names were simple and more friendly in her mind. There was no real need to go all formal on anyone.
Ah, a face she knew! Addy smiled as Sam practically bounced into the room. "I'm glad that's how you feel, that's exactly what I was hoping for!" A stress free gathering for everyone to get themselves back into the swing of things.
"I think I'll give everyone else a few more minutes to arrive before we talk about something that the department plans to work on this year. Before we do that though go ahead and get yourselves something to eat or drink. The others shouldn't be much longer." Or so she hoped. Everyone had gotten the memo, hadn't they?

Once he had gotten a few things squared away in the Ever-Locked Room, Oliver headed down the corridor to the breakroom. He had heard that there was an informal get-together being held today and he could use a break from the tedium anyway. He always felt that his mind was sharper if he took regular breaks, and he needed to be on his A game working here.
Walking in, he noticed a few people already congregated there. Two he recognized, and he figured the other might be new this year. Of course, he could be wrong about that last part as he somewhat kept to himself at work and knew that he probably didn't know everyone who worked here.
"Hi, Sam.. Hi, Addison," he greeted those two with a smile, then he gave a nod to the others he did not recognize before introducing himself. "Hello.. I'm Oliver Glendower." And with that, he headed straight for the food for a little snack. Who couldn't use something to eat? Though he did leave himself open for a little conversation while he was here as well.

The new year tended to be filled with good outlooks and promises. Maybe not to everyone, but considering how last year faired off, Val could vouch for a similar belief. He returned again to the Ministry, heading toward the usual level.
Val did have some research to look forward to at work. But he supposed a moment of time to mingle wouldn't hurt. He was with like-minded people in this level. Recognising Oliver and their head Addy first before others. "Hello." The french wizard greeted to all before joining the food area.

Andrina smiled at Addison as her boss introduced herself and she nodded as she shook her hand. "Please call me Andrina or Andi." She said with a warm smile, her purple eyes sparkling for a moment before she turned to the other people who had entered the room.
She got herself some snacks before smiling at them all and giving them a wave.. She hadn't just gone up and introduced herself to anyone in awhile.. And she wished Thomas were here.. it was easy enough to speak with her husband by herself.. but he had decided to take a break.. Look after their baby..
Andrina felt a little guilty leaving their son so soon after he was born, she had so much guilt already piling up, due to her sister's death and her inability to take Azura in.. She had wanted too, but with the new baby.. they had decided it would be best if they didn't now.. She was furious at her brother for putting her up for adoption though..
She sighed inwardly as she tried to focus on work.. 'Hello Oliver, I'm Andrina Black." She said with a warm smile as she moved to shake the man's hand.

Sniff….Sniff….
Adam once again followed his nose down the hallway past the ever-locked door and the supply closet to the breakroom. Something smelt good, but it was probably just someone’s breakfast / lunch being cooked.
Or was it?
The breakroom was overly crowded, especially for this time of day. Didn’t all these people have work to do? He certainly knew that that Amortentia he had been working on yesterday wasn’t going to finish itself. (He had been trying out a new ingredient and had some far-fangled idea that letting it marinate for over 10 hours would make it even more potent.) But Adam was one that was ruled by his nose (and stomach). If there was even the chance of food, Adam would happily let the ingredient marinade longer, so long as it wasn’t too much longer or else, the experiment would be a bust.
“Hallo!” Adam called cheerfully and perhaps a bit too loudly as he walked in. Despite having lived in London for over 2 years now, his German accent was as strong as ever. His English has improved a bit (but not much).
“Ooot! Dut I smelt kaffee?” Even better, he saw around a young lady (Andrina) that there was bagels! Now his only problem was trying to reach said bagels…

Now that the first few employees had arrived it seemed that the others were pouring on in. Addison sent each of them a warm welcoming smile (Oliver, Val and Adam). "Hello gentleman. You most definitely do Adam!," she laughed softly at his excitement. Her fellow coffee drinkers never seemed to let her down.
"I do believe most of us have arrived so I'll be starting in a moment but first please help yourselves to something to eat and a drink. Have a seat and we can talk about a few things, don't worry I'll keep everything brief." She wasn't one to drag things out and make it a long winded meeting when all she really wanted was to welcome everyone and say a few things. Simple really. Now she had said this already but another minute or two wouldn't hurt at all.
Keeping an eye on everyone she gave them enough time to get what it was they wanted and to all be seated (or stand if they rather) before moving to stand where she could be seen. "Alright first I wanted to welcome our new staff to the department. If any of you need anything come knock on my door I'm always around." That went for all of them not just the newcomers. She wouldn't be biting any heads off for coming to her. "I would also like to congratulate you all on a job well done last year, you all did wonderful." Round of applause for them all. Addy paused to take a sip of her water this time holding the bottle in her hands.
"How are things going in everyone's section, anything need to be address right now?" Just a quick check in to see if things were as they should be. Yes she had checked everything early that morning before they had all arrived but it couldn't hurt to double check.

That’s it! Adam officially labeled Addison was the best boss he ever had. Not that he’d tell her that, he wasn’t a suck up or what he?.
Wiggling his way into the room Adam managed to procure himself a cup of coffee (with 3 creams, and half a sugar), snagged himself a bagel (sadly no schmear it was apparently hiding) and settled into a corner to enjoy his unexpected breakfast. A few seconds later, Addison began her welcome speech. As she welcomed the newbies, Adam raised his coffee cup in a silent salute/hello.
“Ooot! Uuut!” Adam called out when Addison asked if there was anything they had needed. If he had had a free hand, he would have waved it in the air, but one was holding his coffee, the other his bagel. He’d been wanting to ask about potion ingredients for a while, he just hadn’t found the time or Addison to do so. Something else always came up that seemed more important or immediate to him. “Potion intgretints! Vee coult used a moored extensive potion intregtints supplied.”

She'd been sitting quietly, blue eyes focused solely on their department head as Blaire's long, delicate fingers picked at the fruit she'd selected to snack on. The time manipulation specialist was appreciative of the food choices and the opportunity to sit quietly for a while. She was, after all, more interested in listening than sharing. At least this early on in the new year.
"Things in the time chamber are going well," She offered simply. At least as far as she was concerned.

Addison, just Addison. Right. Dimitri stared at his new boss blankly for a moment, quickly realizing that the assumption he had made about the British Ministry of Magic was true: they weren't as proper here, they were more informal than his previous co-workers and boss. Needless to say, being on a first-name basis with the boss of all people was going to take some getting used to.
He nodded his head anyway and her request and a smile appeared with her warm greeting. The smile grew larger when she asked him what language he started speaking to her in. "Russian," the long-haired man stated. "Picked up a bit of it during my years at Durmstrang, and it became second nature when I lived in St. Petersburg. 'Zdravstvuyte' is the formal way of saying 'hello.'"
Turning his head, his brown eyes then registered the faces of Andrina Black and Sam Forrester. He shook Andrina's hand and gave Sam a courteous nod of his head. "Dimitri. Dimitri Diggle."
Oliver then appeared, though he seemed more concerned with the food than formalities. Following him, two others entered the room: a man who simply greeted them all and another with a strong German accent. All three men received head nods as he himself went to grab himself a cup of coffee and a bagel.
Dimitri returned to his seat just in time. Miss Ander-- Addison had just started speaking, first welcoming the newcomers and then changing matters to the work that was done last year and if anything needed to be addressed. Being new to the department, he simply took a bite of his bagel and sipped his coffee as he had nothing to say on those matters.

Such a wonderfully attentive team she had. No one had any complaints about anything, most were smiling and cheerful. Completely polite and just gosh she adored them all. Even the three new ones who's first day it was showed lots of potential for the year to come. If she could be any prouder of them right now.
She looked back towards Dimitri when he spoke. Russian. Well that was certainly something new to her and not a language she knew at all. "I would give that a try but I'm rather positive I would destroy the language should I even try," she replied with a light laugh. English was her language and anything else was asking to much.
Addison paused to give them each a few moments to go over anything they might have a problem with or might want to add after welcoming them all. The calling out in reply to her question wasn't a problem. They were eating and holding drinks of course, she certainly did not want anyone to go about waving their food around. "I will see what I can do Adam. Is there any specific ingredients you would like me to try to get?" This wasn't at all a large request and the blonde was sure that she would have no trouble getting the items he asked for.
Blaire received a nod from Addison. "If you think of anything just let me know." The more up to date their areas were the better it would be for them all.

Oliver gave a nod to Val and Adam as they walked in soon after him, then set about spreading some cream cheese on his bagel. He quickly rearranged the plate and things in his hands to leave his right hand free as one of the newer employees offered her hand to shake. "Adrina Black, hello," he smiled as he shook her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you.. which part of the department do you work in?" He'd have added his own position, but Addison began their meeting and he turned his attention to her as she spoke.
New staff... he glanced around the room, wondering who all exactly was new. He'd assume that at least some of the faces that he didn't recognize were new, but introductions or names would have been helpful. "All good in the Ever-Locked Room," he said with a nod, though took note that Adam requested more diverse potions ingredients. He was good working with what they had, though he found new things to always be interesting when it came to experimentation.

Addison waited a few more minutes to ensure no one else had anything at all to add. "I will certainly have a look into this and see what I can do." Which more meant that she would be doing everything in her power to get more potions ingredients as well as checking the other departments and making sure things were very much up to date.
"I won't keep you all much longer as I know how much work you all have," she laughed softly. Surely today was about getting back into the swing of things, learning where things were and such. "Dimitri, Andrina if either of you need anything please stop by my office or speak with a co-worker I'm sure none of them would have any trouble assisting either of you. Now enjoy your meal and drink before heading back to your departments. I'll be coming around throughout the day to check up on things." So if they found they needed anything they could inform her then.
Taking a look around at all of them she felt as if the gathering hadn't gone badly at all. Right now things were calm but everyone knew that things could change quickly.

Andrina was rather quiet as she listened to the meeting. She didn't know how her department was doing because well.. This was her first day. She smiled though at Addison as she spoke to her and the other new person..
"Thank you Addison, I'm sure I'll be able to get my bearings soon" The woman said confidently, despite the nerves on the inside. She had worked in the department before, just in another country.. She would have to see how well she would do here.
She turned back to what she was doing before hand.. Meeting her co-workers. She shook Dimitri's hand, "It's nice to meet you, I guess we are the newbies here." She said with a warm smile as she waved at the man (Adam) Who was trying to get some food behind her. She grinned at him and moved so he could squeeze in. "Hello, I'm Andrina." She said before she fully turned back to Oliver.
"It's nice to meet you as well." She said with a soft smile. "I work in the time room.. and you?" She asked curiously.
