| Outdoor Garden Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Just outside the main doors of the Conservatory is a gated outdoor garden, the main path takes you all the way through to the exit or back around to the main doors. Each level has mundane and magical plants and herbs. Detailed descriptions of plants are pinned on pedestals by the plants. Take your time, stroll around, and look at the plants. There are so many to see and learn about.

Tempest Chandler Law Enforcement | For Kita/Hirschy Tempest walked into the garden, trying to pretend those activists outside weren't butchering a Billy Joel song to excuse their ignorance. The muggles might have mucked up the planet but it was their planet too. If it wasn't taken care of everyone would suffer.
Or at least this was her opinion. But she was an Auror, not a politician and really not even from this country. She hoped MACUSA would be following suit. The Auror in her was a bit concerned with the crowd outside. Maybe she should have stayed closer to the front in case anything happened.. But she supposed she wasn't the only Auror here. Constant vigilance nontheless.. The phrase made her think of a man.. Not just any man, one she was particularly fond of.
Would he be here tonight? She knew one of the speakers was a Hogwarts professor.. so maybe another wouldn't be unlikely?
Whether he showed or not she was determined to have a good night, educational and all that.

Maybe he should have wore something more formal. But hey on some days you could not even force him to wear anything more than a t shirt. He really really needed a vacation.
Maybe something tropical during the summer.
Huh thats a cool plant.

Huh thats a cool plant. Livvy was just...kind of here. She didn't care at all about plants, but she DID care about the environment. There were annoying activists here, though, and she was all for being passionate about your cause - as long as things didn't go too far.
Plus, she was NEW to this Ministry thing. She didn't want to get involved in something potentially dangerous before she had even had a chance to establish herself here.
She wandered off to the garden area, because even though she didn't really care about plants, they WERE pretty to look at. There were a few other people here, and she wandered over to a guy standing nearby with a REALLY cool man bun. She smiled politely at him. "Hello...enjoying yourself?" she asked, making polite conversation. She felt a bit self conscious about her French accent, but she was getting more comfortable with it every day.
Plus, she like REALLY needed to start making friends around here, so she really didn't have time to be picky...

Scarlett Wolf breezed through the main doors and out to the garden as she drummed a pamphlet against her leg. Noiselessly she made her way towards the man and woman in the distance, coming to a stop close by. "This quiet is much more inviting than the racket going on in there." Piercing blue eyes shifted from the man to the woman. "Can't say I expected to see that many activists in attendance. Either of you ever seen anything like this before? They must be extremely upset about something."

Whether he showed or not she was determined to have a good night, educational and all that. Luckily for her, the man was making an appearance.
While he did kind of care about the environment to some degree, Hirsch was mostly here to support Paul, who was going to be guest speaking today. He wouldn't ever admit it but he had the man's back and would provide some cheering, if it was necessary. In saying that, he really hoped the Herbology professor had decided to discard his usual attire for something smarter. Ponchos just won't go down well with a crowd.
Hearing that there were some Ministry people here today, Hirsch wandered around the place, steering as far away from the activists as possible. It was a weird and oddly liberating feeling to not have to be in charge of anyone here and, looking at the activists, he was glad that he didn't have to deal with that. Give him teenagers any da-
THERE she was!
A dimpled smile crossed the Professor's face as he walked over towards her. His hands were, once again, dug into his pockets and there was an air of confidence in the way he walked. Not egotistical confidence, just confidence. "Nice jacket, Miss Chandler. Or, should I say, Auror Chandler." Weird to think that some of his students were going to be graduating to work with her.

Now where was that husband and nine year old boy of hers? In the meantime, exploring the gardens and staying far away from those extreme activists was of utmost priority right now. After months of contemplating on getting a different and more stable job, Katrina had finally decided to apply for one at the Ministry of Magic. She had her daughter's best interest in mind, wanting to be closer to her and giving her one hundred and one percent as a mother. Sure, she'd miss her previous occupation, but she knew it was best for both Cassie and herself to be here. On top of that, the summit was very interesting and, basing on the brochure she received when she entered the venue, she was to meet her former Astronomy professor too. It also included various potions-related topics, which further sparked her interest to attend a few of them.
The former head girl found herself drawn to the beautiful garden outside. Having taken Herbology as a minor in Wizarding University, Kat couldn't help but mentally classify some of the plants. There were lots of mundane ones, and those magical ones she liked to deal with when she was still studying. But what caught her eye the most was a familiar face. The blonde took a moment to register who it was, before a smile slowly crept on her face and made her way to the woman. "Good day, Professor," she said, with emphasis on the title that the woman used to hold.
To be honest, it was a relief to see someone she knew from here. It had been a long time since she saw her former Arithmancy professor.

Not egotistical confidence, just confidence. "Nice jacket, Miss Chandler. Or, should I say, Auror Chandler." Weird to think that some of his students were going to be graduating to work with her. Tempest felt the corners of her mouth twist into a smile upon hearing her name and title slide out of his mouth. Rod was something else..
The dimples, the smile and the way he carried himself was clearly enough to make most women weak in the knees and while Tempest wasn't most women she still had a weakness for everything Hirsch.
"Thank you very much, Professor Hirsch." There was a wink sent his way as she stepped closer to him. "I'm very glad to be working again."
Her DMLE badge attached to the inside of her jacket, she made sure to show him. It was something she was very proud of. "So are you concerned about the environment or were you just hoping you'd see me?"
She had no clue if he was close with the other Hogwarts Professors so she wasn't even thinking that maybe he was there for moral support. "Did the crowd outside give you any trouble?" In her mind that song they were chanting when she came in was trouble enough. Billy Joel was a master of music.

To be honest, it was a relief to see someone she knew from here. It had been a long time since she saw her former Arithmancy professor. “Why are we here, Dad?” Septimus asked his father as they walked through the summit. “Why are they protesting? What’s wrong?” The seven-year old was a fountain of questions as he moved besides the elder Nairne trying to follow where his mother had gone. They had gotten separated in the crowds including the loud noisy people out in the atrium. Addison had to fight the urge to shake his head and chuckle at his inquisitive son. “We’re here to learn…” he answered, his hand on the boy’s shoulder as they walked. “…and listen to your aunt speak…well tomorrow.” Today was pretty open on the schedule for them. But also left no definite direction were Fina was. “And they’re unhappy about the way things are and what others say so they’re trying to get their opinions out to everyone here.” Not that it looked like may were anywhere interested in what the protestors had to say.
Ah…look, there was his wife.
Talking to someone who no doubt was a former student of hers. So Addison chose to approach the duo quietly so as not to just interrupt. Septimus not so much. “Mom!”

He had hoped Eryn would be with him this evening, but having young children he understood why she couldn't. He had decided going to the outdoor garden would be a nice place to relax a moment before the next speaker had come on. The first was interesting, but he was waiting for a few of the others.
Walking out he took in the scenery. It was very pretty out here. The ministry did a great job finding the place. The Venu was always the hardest, but this pick was spot on.
He couldn't believe how well it worked with the topic of the conference. What better way to show earth friendly than plants all around you. Deciding he would take a little stroll through the area he started off, but stopped in front of a plant to take a look.

Slade Erikson Mysteries | Anyone! Slytherin by heart Armand had parted ways with his son in order to come to the gardens. He felt it would be a good experience and a way to find some interaction coming to the Summit. He wouldn't be returning to work for another year, just to see how his youngest son was finding Hogwarts and to be available in case the boy needed him. Maybe he was too much of a worrisome parent, but that was how things stood. However, a break and adult interaction was necessary, even if it was only for a weekend. Perhaps in this garden he would find someone else interested in Herbology. For all he knew, one of his prior students could be here. Though who knew if they remember him?

So far she felt like this whole summit was a huge success. At least there were people here. That meant they were interested in the environment, right? It was a pretty big turnout. And aside from those activists she'd encountered (or rather, carefully avoided around when arriving) people were having a good time too. Presumably. Because while SHE definitely was, in this case she also really cared that the other people who'd come to this summit were enjoying it too.
It was important. REALLY important.
Taking a closer look at the Galanthus Nivalis in front of her, Olly briefly stopped her stroll through the garden. Did the separate levels out here have something to do with the plants that were displayed? Were they grouped together somehow? Did they have regular flowers too? |

Taking a closer look at the Galanthus Nivalis in front of her, Olly briefly stopped her stroll through the garden. Did the separate levels out here have something to do with the plants that were displayed? Were they grouped together somehow? Did they have regular flowers too? The garden was full of wonderful plants, many of which he had in his gardens or greenhouses. Of course, as a Herbologist, that was sort of his thing. On rare occasion he gave pause at something he had yet to see in person, but it was very rare. He knew every plant there by heart. Well, except for a select few hybrids, which he assumed had to do with the upcoming talk of muggle/mundane hybrids.
Armand came to stop at a young woman looking at one of the plants. He gave her a charming smile. "Admiring the Galanthus Nivalis, are we? Marvelous things, aren't they? Among the first to bloom in spring and blanket the ground where they are native." It was such a shame it was still winter. "How are you finding the Summit?"

"No, I'm new to the area," Livvy answered the woman who came up and started asking about the activists and all that jazz. She watched as the woman held up a pamphlet and wrinkled her eyebrows. Wait, hadn't see just...talked about how annoying the activists were? Was she trying to push her own agenda? It certainly looked like it to the French newcomer.
Olivia had not expected THIS to happen at this boring summit, that was for sure...

"How are you finding the Summit?" Olly was too lost in thought to notice the man approaching her. And she also didn't really care if someone else was nearby. So even if she had been paying attention to her surroundings, her reaction to the man's words wouldn't really have been a whole lot different. Aside from the fact that now she spent about two seconds feeling surprised. That was over quickly, though.
'Are we?' Who was we?
Fortunately, she was in a good mood so she didn't verbally question his word choice but instead nodded. "I don't really see the appeal." She offered a polite half-smile to the man, however. No offense. As for the summit however. "The panels I've seen so far have been really interesting." Pause. "How about you?" |

| And everyone else, of course!
Did someone say headache?
Well, if someone didn't have a headache by now, they were about to, thanks to this group of activists and their air horns, which they were blowing every which direction. Quote:

Walking out he took in the scenery. It was very pretty out here. The ministry did a great job finding the place. The Venu was always the hardest, but this pick was spot on.
He couldn't believe how well it worked with the topic of the conference. What better way to show earth friendly than plants all around you. Deciding he would take a little stroll through the area he started off, but stopped in front of a plant to take a look. Including in this gentleman's ear. Oops? "Sorry, sir!" the person responsible yelled. Just to make sure the gentleman could hear, of course.
That mistake didn't stop the blowing though. "TOOT! TOOT!" The multiple air horns kept sounding, shattering the quiet of the outdoor garden.

Politely shaking his hand when he offered, Olly nodded in reply to his introduction. A Herbologist. How interesting. "I'm Olly Clarke. Nice to meet you, Mr. Erikson. I actually work for the Department of Environmental Protection." She even smiled again. Hey, today was a good day apparently."Do you work at the Ministry too?" She hadn't seen him around but the Ministry had SO many employees, it was nearly impossible to keep track of them all.
What WASN'T in fact hard to keep track of was the current whereabouts of that activist group. Frowning, Olly turned around when she heard them making enough noise to destroy the peace and quiet in the gardens. "I don't understand what their problem is." Also, why did they have to be loud HERE?! |

Just in case there were some at the conference who were avoiding the dinning terrace, the microphone had been charmed to have a type of intercom effect. Which meant that every room (save for the Atrium) was hearing Butch's speech. "Now, I know you all are wondering just what my fellow activists and I have against environmentalism and all that. Well, we don't have a problem with environmentalism. It's just that the environmentalism that the Ministry is trying to sell you here one: isn't true environmentalism. It's not ripping up the real, natural grass that's growing out of the ground and replacing it with fake grass made from tires and who knows what else just avoid using pesticides and herbicides or a little bit of mowing. It's not casting spells on trees just so they grow quicker than what nature intended just so you can have some shade or being vegetarian or vegan just because you heard some whacky rumor that cows help contribute to global warming. It's about caring for the planet you have by reusing and recycling, using stuff made out of recycled materials, conserving water and electricity anyway you can (within reason), finding cleaner ways to get said electricity and finding natural solutions to our bug and weed problems.
Secondly, some of the things suggested here put us at risk of being exposed to the Muggles. Which not only violates the International Statue of Secrecy, but puts us in great danger. Because, as much as the Ministry may want to deny it, Muggles are not our friends. I mean, just look at how they treat those amongst themselves who are different! And just as they have in the past, if they knew about us, they would turn that hate over and use it to persecute us into the ground.
So, these are the reasons we are here to protest today. Not because we don't love our environment, but because we do." And with that, Butch turned off his mic and stepped off the stage while his friends moved in to take down the stage.
These activists stopped their air horns just long enough for Butch's speech to be heard. But the minute it was over, they ALL let out a big, long "TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooOoooOOOOOT!" of their air horns in agreement and celebration loud enough that it was probably heard in the other rooms as well. Go Butch!

She wasn't alone. Alexander Brian felt like he should be working since his department was kinda running this. But well. He was just not doing anything. Plus well how much can a dumb recycle commissioner so here. "I think we are suppose to be enjoying ourselves. Or trying to at least" Whether this woman would let them or not talk about the activists. They would have to see. He was in his own way mostly with muggles though which meant he had no idea what they were even protesting about now. He shook his head. "Sorry, im not familiar with any of the protesters" And he would have liked to not know anything about what they were here for. But well no luck for him. multiple air horn blasts later and someone was talking.
Great
Interesting speech. Not that it matter since those air horns where really really annoying.
Alexander needed a drink.

Olly didn't show how unimpressed she was with the man's joke. Because otherwise she sort of enjoyed his company. So far. He seemed to know what he was doing. AND he was a Herbologist. Which naturally made her question why he hadn't worked in her department before. "Do you plan on returning to Accidents and Catastrophes again?" After his son had settled in.
Rolling her eyes, Olly couldn't help but listen to what the activists had to say. They were being SO loud she would have had to cover her ears not to hear. And she wasn't a child, so naturally she didn't. After the speech was over she sighed softly. "I think they only have a problem with Muggles and their lack of protecting the environment." Which wasn't entirely true. There WERE Muggles who had made it their mission to do exactly that. "I still don't see the point of their protest. Even if the Muggles played a bigger part that doesn't mean we shouldn't be doing anything about it now." So really, what was the endgame here? |
