Default British and Irish Quidditch League Offices
Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent

This large room full of cubicles belongs to the British and Irish Quidditch League Offices. All of the Quidditch employees, from public relations to regulations and administration, will be found here hard at work, unless they are out on assignment or at a match of one of the thirteen professional teams. It looks much like a standard office work area with one defining feature. The Quidditch-themed posters of teams and star players adorn the walls at every turn. A shiny plaque outside the entrance to the offices informs you of your location.

Finally they were back in the ministry. She hadn't minded the hanger, but many of her things were still stuck in the ministry. Not really looking at anything else on her way to her own level Victoria kept her brown eyes focused. Coming into the office she glanced around. "What on earth?" She was going to be starting her new title and this was what she was coming back to.

Shaking her head she moved towards her own desk, glancing at Mariel's on the way. They hadn't even cleaned them off, but whatever had been here or done the lock out sure made themselves known. All her papers seemed ruined. The rosters, the mascots, the flyers. She was now thankful for all the work she had done while locked out. If she would have waited to come back she would have been further behind.

Her first thought went towards Anthony. She wondered if his team was back in the building and could come work in the office, but she figured she'd get the same response she did before the lockout. Sighing her eyes went to the top of her desk. She picked up the picture of her and Charely with the girls. It had something sticky all over it and the frame was cracked.

She bit her lip and put the picture down before her emotions got the best of her. Trying to focus and figure out what to even do first.

Mariel headed out of her office towards the Quidditch offices. She hadn't checked that area yet, though she had an idea of what its current condition might be like. But that wasn't her primary concern. She wondered if Vic made it back to her own office space yet so it was her first stop. And there she was.

"You're right, it looks awful in here too," she said aloud as she neared the blonde woman. Green eyes swept the area and she was careful not to touch any of the desks. Ugh. The work they had ahead of them. Maybe it would be better to stay at the hangar for a while. At least they had that place functioning so they could get some work done. What were they meant to do here.. all join the maintenance crew? Anyway.

"And I'm sure you'll love what I just got," she said, a sarcastic tone evident in her voice. She was nearing her limit of patience for the day. The conditions were bad enough and this letter certainly did not make her day. Ridiculous, but she'd deal with it. After discussing the next course of action with her Quidditch Division Manager, of course. She held out the letter to Vic so she could read it for herself.

OR ELSE!

While society rots away and further deteriorates, our SCHOOLS are wasting their time, MONEY, and resources funding POINTLESS GAMES. MOST OF ALL: QUIDDITCH. LAST YEAR ALONE, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF GALLEONS WERE WASTED! MORE THAN 200 MAN-HOURS! Students should be learning to READ, WRITE, and WAND WAVE! NOT how to swing bats, search for gold, and fancy themselves birds!

YOU WILL NEVER BE A BIRD!

Victoria had come back from the coffee cart with no coffee and no outside break. This was not going well, but she felt she needed to get back into the office and start well somewhere. Looking around her brown eyes hit the broken frame again and she quickly went towards Marie's old desk. She could start over there. Since Langdon didn't seem to be around yet maybe she could get the desk cleared before the girl came in.

Hearing her friend's voice she didn't even look up as she started to pull out her wand. "Mmmhmm I don't even know where to start." Should she vanish the pieces of papers or start with the sticky. Ugh it was just all a pain now wasn't it. "It think vanishing all this paper is going to have to be first on the list." All this work..

Her brown eyes turned on the department head as she sounded annoyed. "hmm?" Holstering her wand she looked at Mariel with slight curiosity and took the letter. Reading it over Vic just stared at it for a moment. "Is this a joke?" It had to be right? "It hardly even makes sense. Is this a seventh year prank?" Her brown eyes lifted to Mariel once more. No way was this real.

Scanning the letter once more she just laughed a bit, "Wasting money? Oh preposterous. Students typically supply their own brooms and most schools have started even charging for their own uniforms. Schools supply the balls, but those don't have to be hardly ever replaced and the official who is on staff anyway." Whomever wrote this had to have written it as a joke, because they really didn't do their homework. "Some school even charge to watch the matches, if I'm not mistaken Hogwarts had done it while Wade was there." She handed the letter back to her boss. "You aren't really taking that letter seriously are you?" She just couldn't imagine why someone would write such an odd threat or why it was sent to their department when they didn't have anything to do with the school's teams.

Her expression somewhere between unimpressed and irritated, Mariel observed Victoria's own reaction as she read the letter. And her response wasn't all that surprising to her. A prank? Who knew. But she certainly wasn't thrilled to be on the receiving end of such nonsense.

She listened to Vic as she worked through the basic layout of the letter, her expression unchanged, though she nodded vaguely a bit here and there. "The only thing that's being wasted here is my time," she said curtly, her irritation in no way directed towards Vic. Did she know she had to take it seriously? Or at least to a point. She was in no way wasting any more of her time on this piece of garbage than she had to. "It really is ridiculous," she agree, shaking her head as her eyes drifted towards the letter in the other woman's hands before she took it back from her again.

"Nothing in that letter really makes any sense," she said with a sigh, her eyes scanning the contents again. "But rantings of a lunatic rarely do," she mused aloud. "I mean.. you will never be a bird? Give me a break." Ugh, this whole thing was giving her a headache. "You are right though, as far as I know, little of the school's money is actually spent on the game itself. I'm not sure about the uniforms though, I'm pretty sure they are provided." But the cost would be minimal, she thought. Sigh. Was she really rationalizing through this? No, she was not going to waste one more brain cell thinking about demands of a mad man or woman. "Yes, they charged for a game when I went to see my nephew play."

She sighed and shook her head. "Because of this phrase right here, Quit Quidditch or Die, I have to," she said jabbing her finger at the words. "I honestly don't see what kind of problem anyone could have with Quidditch.." And the reasons listed in the letter were just lame. ".. but even though its most likely an ill-conceived and juvenile prank, because there's a death threat, I have to at least entertain that to a degree." But she wasn't putting much stock in it. She'd do what she had to and that was it. She didn't see a whole lot of sense in pushing it beyond that. Not based on this letter alone. But if something were to happen, she'd at least want people prepared.

"Here's what I propose we do - we can forward this along to Hogwarts since it seems that is who this person is targeting." Why they sent it to her, she did not know, though it did say all sporting. "They can handle things from their end. I know we don't have jurisdiction over their games, but they should probably know about this. Maybe let MLE know too if they're not too busy provoking men to arrest them to investigate." Did she sound bitter? Maybe.. but she could still do her job in spite of that. And her job was not to hunt down terrorists. They could handle that. "And.. just because it does mention all sporting, we could at least let the team managers know about this, though I'm not sure there is real cause for alarm." It seemed more about the school from the way it was worded, but she thought they could at least be aware.. maybe heighten security for a time at the games. "What are your thoughts?" As division manager, she was eager to hear her opinion on course of action as well. She already knew she thought it was preposterous and she quite agreed.

Victoria looked around the office and sarcastically chuckled, “They must have known we would have so much extra time on our hands.” Her brown eyes certainly rolled. This was just beyond ridiculous. Having a child at the school she still wasn’t all that concerned. It really did seem like some sort of prank or a crazy person that had the best timing to be stupid.

The money part was what really threw Vic. Why would anyone say it was a waste of money? Especially at Hogwarts. There was many things wasted there, but money on quidditch was certainly not one of them. Mariel had a point though it was a threat even if it seemed like a joke. She just couldn’t understand why someone would be so ridiculous. Did people really have that much time on their hands? Wow wouldn’t that be nice to sit around all day thinking up pointless, annoying, ridiculous threats. She thought about her typical day and how much she had to get done. Yeah the person really had to have no life.

Her eyes focused on Mariel as she spoke on what to do and then she thought a few moments about it. Moving slightly from Mariel’s old desk to her own she pulled her wand and cleaned off the surface. Grabbing the broken picture and throwing into the draw. It needed to vanish anyway. Flopping her bag down she opened it pulling out some parchment. The list of the team’s information that she thankfully always kept with her work bag. “My thoughts is this bloody idiot better hope to never come across me if ever it’s found out who pulled this waste of time.” She had no humor in her voice with this. “but I think you are right. This letter needs to go to the school. They are not part of us when it comes to their teams nor their matches. So quitting quidditch is not up to us. Clearly the moron didn’t do his/her homework on that one. You could either owl it with an explanation or one of us could take it to the school and speak with that headmistress, but I’d probably recommend you going.” She was still not a fan after last term events. Though she might be able to stop and have a visit with Cosgrach if she went.

Anyway she focused again, “As for MLE, I’d talk with the headmistress first and let her decide. It’s her school and the letter is more for her than us. If you want I guess you could show it to Emily and let her decide. She’d be able to determine more if it was something to look further into or not.” Glancing down at the parchment she thought more, “I’ll send notices to the team managers just letting them know what we received, possibly up some security for their practices until this blows over. If the teams wish we could even up some security for some matches just to be on the safe side, but I think I’ll leave that up to them, unless you think otherwise.” Did that sound like a plan? Victoria was still shaking her head a bit, “and I sent him back to this school.” Was she screwed up in her head or what.

Langen walked into the office, her chestnut hair curly as usual and her tan skin matching her pale blue dress in what she hoped was a nice contrast. Because it was hard to tell. Blue was the twenty year old's favorite colour of course. There was also half a doughnut hanging out of her mouth that the worker was trying desperately to hold and not bite, and all of her files were stored in a cardboard box, including some quidditch magazines and books the woman had picked out. Yes, it was the box she had found in the airplane hangar. Hey, packing materials were packing materials. Whatever you could use. All of er makeup was in her sisters purse. And that (after a short plea to said sister and a promise to make her sisters bed for a month that the girl was now regretting) she had that purse here. Could never be too prepared, you know?

Sitting down at her desk and smoothing out the blue skirt of her knee-length dress so there would be no sitting on it, the tall woman started unboxing and organizing things like a person in an office should do, finally taking a bite of her chocolate doughnut and watching as it fell, dough side down onto her lap.

"Ah, man!" Trying not to be too loud because of the two workers having a conversation around her, the woman picked up the pastry and wiped any crumbs off of her lap, sorting through everything and eating at the same time. Thank goodness for the power of multi-tasking. Where would the brown eyed woman be without it? Probably failed out of Hogwarts, that's where. Wait, was it possible to fail out of Hogwarts? Further information was required.

Anyway, on a more sane note, the new worker was making piles of everything, from files to magazines to books, all spread across her desk for easy pickup. Organization wasn't something that came naturally to her, and so her mom had to teach her at twelve how to organize papers. And this was the method she used. Now Langen only had to pick up some post-it notes in order to label everything. That could be done after work tonight. Because right now, the young girl had to see what she was going to be asked to do. Pulling out aday planner, the woman set it in front of her and waited.

Default Vic.. and a little of Langen at the end
Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent

Victoria was right about that. Whoever this was certainly picked an optimal time to send them this.. though was any time decent for such nonsense? Certainly not in her opinion, but this just seemed worse than normal and it would have to take priority because of how it was worded. Once she was finished detailing her thoughts on their next course of action, she allowed green eyes to settle on Vic as she listened to what she had to say on the matter. She pretty much knew how she was going to handle things but she was interested in what her division manager had to say, especially as she would need to deal with the professional teams more directly.

Her thoughts slightly distracted as she thought more on this, she nodded a bit as Vic offered her thoughts. She would hope that Hogwarts wouldn’t want to just cancel Quidditch completely, but she supposed she could understand if they would. Threats against young lives should be taken seriously no matter how it was written. ”What a sick individual,” she murmured aloud. But what she still didn’t understand that if it was targeting Hogwarts or just the Headmistress specifically, then why was it owled to her? That was somewhat bothersome to the brunette. ”Alright. I’m going to pass this along to the Headmistress.” She knew she had to, but was glad that Vic was on the same page about it. ”She can decide next on how to proceed regarding Quidditch or anything else at her school.” Mariel certainly didn’t feel it was up to her to decide what went on there, but it certainly was her duty to warn her against whatever direct threat there was out there. She did feel like it was her civic duty to at least inform the MLE, not that she put all that much faith in them just because of previous experience.

”Yes, I think all security needs to be increased on both practices and games for at least a little while.” She hated that she had to entertain the thoughts of a terrorist but she hated even more the thought of what could happen if she didn’t take this at all seriously and something serious did take place. ”I honestly don’t think this is anything, at least as far as the League is concerned, but I think we should at least be aware and proceed with caution. Yes, please send out notices.” Alright, that, for the most part, was settled. Mariel frowned a bit as her friend mentioned sending Bart back there. It was not her place to judge, but she would never send a child to that nightmare of a school. Of course she wasn’t in Vic’s shoes so she didn’t know what weighed in that decision. Perhaps she felt she had little choice. ”He’ll be alright,” she said as confidently as she could muster. ”Maybe keep in touch with your teacher friend to be sure.” She tried not to smirk at that thought, but it might put her a little more at ease to know there was an adult looking out for him. Not that Mariel put much stock in the teaching staff there.

She was about to voice her leave and her thoughts on maybe mentioning things to Gobstones just for the fact that the letter mentioned all sporting – not that she really thought they were in danger, just for a precaution – when another voice made her turn. Was that Langen? Good.. she made it. Mariel gave her a small smile, though watched her a bit curiously for a moment. ”We are probably going to need to clean up a bit before we get things reorganized and put away.” She did know that the Ministry wasn’t normally in this condition? Of course she hadn’t been in here before being new, but she would hope that she didn’t think they kept it in such a deplorable state. It probably wasn’t necessary to concern their newest employee with the letter at this point. They all really had enough on their plate at this point and her position didn’t demand it. And then they needed to figure out why the magic was malfunctioning in the building once she dealt with other things.

She was really over this situation before it really even began. How could anyone threaten such a thing and really not know their facts before hand. It just all seemed so pointless, but she wasn’t the boss so she’d let Mariel fully decide on the actions to take. “Will you just owl the Headmistress or pay her a visit?” She was curious, but more for other reasons than the quidditch things. “I really hope she doesn’t cancel, I’ve heard a few things about those players. It would be a shame if scouts didn’t get to fully see them play.” Her son spoke highly about many and she had seen first hand some of their potential.

“I’ll get those owls out soon. I was thinking about holding a meeting with the managers anyway about a few thing with the schedules, plus I need to get with some of the new managers.” Did her voice sound over sarcastic on that last bit, because she was annoyed to no end about that part. She just chuckled, “It wasn’t like he was going to play anyway. With the healers saying he shouldn’t again, but still.. “ She trailed off not sure if she had made the right choices. More and more seemed to be wrong with that place. She bit her lip a bit as talk of Cosgrach came. “Yeah I’m glad he is there looking after Bart. It does make things better.” Though she wasn’t sure where her and Cosgrach stood at this point, but she could at least know he was there with her son.

Her eyes moved noticing someone enter the room and with that person she just kind of stared. What in Godric’s Hollow was she doing. Brown eyes moved to Mariel for a moment and then back to Langen. “Yes I would be very careful where you sit. There is something sticky all over the place. I really wouldn’t be surprised if you have ruined your outfit.” Was she not noticing the wreck that was this office? The shredded paper and sticky stuff all over the place? “I was about to start cleaning up if you’d care to help me.” Her eyes went back to Mariel, they were done with their discussion it seemed so now back to work.

Langen looked up from her sorting to see her boss next to her. Smiling a cheerful smile and hoping that she didn't have any doughnut on her face ~she didn't, thank goodness~. That would've been awkward. Putting the rest of the small piece in her mouth, the brunette girl nodded along to what her boss said. Not that she didn't understand. They didn't let idiots in the ministry, otherwise her sister would be the head. But the brown, almond eyed girl was deciding to form her words carefully around here, think thoroughly about what she was going to say, before she said it. Not because the girl in the pale blue dress was suspicious or afraid, she just didn't want to sound like an idiot like she did with Victoria. That was not a smart conversation. And like she had just said, they don't allow idiots in the ministry.

"I'll be happy to help with the cleaning and organizing. Make this place look nice and cheerful for everyone." Not that it didn't look cheerful enough, but she was kind of doing some butt-kissing here. No good reason, the twenty year old actually liked to help. Especially with matters of cleaning or organizing. She had to with her sister being sick half the time during Hogwarts ~she miraculously got better a lot when she wanted to do something~ and her mother being..... not in the picture. That part wasn't important. Or- as important. Anyway, Langen wanted to seem like a model employee. Super-employee. She had plans of being here for a long time, and the worker didn't want anything to change that.

And then there was something in the way that she was talking to Victoria that wasn't right. Something was happening. It seemed important if they didn't tell the curly haired girl and only spoke about it in weird tones. There was a piece of paper in her bosses hand. But it didn't seem like the new girl's place and therefore it wasn't mentioned. If she didn't need to know for her job, she probably really didn't need to know. It was probably above her understanding, or skill or something. Whatever, she wasn't going to be all nosy. What was that ancient saying? Curiosity killed the cat?

Going back to her organizing of her desk, Langen brushed any crumbs off of her surface and continued putting things in their correct place. It wasn't really going to do anything, but too many things were disorganized and they needed to be fixed. Things needed to be planned. Planning was good.

Mariel thought over Victoria's questions and concerns for a moment. She hadn't really thought about how she would inform the Headmistress about the letter, just that she needed to. But she didn't see the difference in actually making a physical appearance. "I suppose I'll just owl it with a letter of explanation regarding the little we know about it. Then I suppose any decision she makes will be up to her." And if she would want to get MLE involved which she suspected she would.

The brunette frowned as the subject of scouts came up. "I hope it doesn't come to that. But I suppose she'd would be within her rights to do so." She knew they had no real jurisdiction over the school's games and considering their track record, she would like to see them err on the side of caution for a change. Though cancel? Was that too drastic? While she knew that many of the school players wouldn't have a professional career, she still had concern for those that potentially would if the sport was to be cancelled. "Well.. if it comes to that, we will have to take it upon ourselves to make sure those kids have the opportunity to be scouted." They would have to do something, she felt it their duty.

She nodded as Victoria confirmed her plans, meeting with the managers, informing them of the situation. "Good.. good." Then she raised an eyebrow as she caught the tone at the end. Mariel had a feeling she knew what that was about. She saw that name come through in her paperwork. "You know you have the upper hand here," she started with a smirk. Of course she knew Vic wasn't the vindictive type, but honestly, in her position, she could make that woman's life miserable if she wanted. Then she gave her a small but genuine smile as she talked about Bart. She liked the kid and really did hope he would fare well at school. "I'm sure he can keep you updated." How convenient that would be anyway. Though she did hope nothing else would go wrong.

Green eyes turned to Langen again as she expressed her desire to help out. Well, not only was that good, but it was necessary. They couldn't work in this mess and it seemed like all the charms in the area had worn off. She wasn't sure if they could simply reinstate them or what exactly would happen. But they needed to do that before she was putting her things away. "And.. if you don't mind, this was my desk before we went on holiday. I hadn't had a chance to clear out my personal effects." And as she didn't know she would be promoted in that time, she hadn't taken the time to take care of that before their break. Reaching over, Mariel grabbed the few framed pictures from the desk and opened a drawer, pulling out a few of her personal belongings, laying them in her folded arm. "I'll come back for the rest later. For now, Scourgify. Unfortunately it looks like the rest of Level Seven needs the same." Annoying, especially as they had to do it in the hangar before they could start work and now here again, but it seemed a necessity.

She glanced to Vic again as she took a step towards the door. "If you need to delegate some of those owls to Langen, I'm sure she'd be willing." No need to make more work for herself. "Not that it really affects your job," she started, looking back to the youngest of the three, "But just so you're aware, there may be an issue with Quidditch at Hogwarts." Not that she expected to go much further than that, but if it came up she should expect her own employees to be aware. "We may foresee some extra work as a precaution.." Or if they did need to deal with the scouts.. "But for now, it shouldn't be too concerning at this end." At least she hoped not.

She figured Mariel would do as much. It was just so ridiculous in her head still. “I wouldn’t put it past the woman. It would probably give her more publicity.” She couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She didn’t trust the headmistress at all and her lack of acknowledging Victoria at that quidditch match put a poor taste in her mouth. Yes her thoughts were going on the same line as Mariel’s. “Yes we are going to have to do some sort of tryouts, or practices, or something for scouts to get to see them.” She was not ready for all of that mess. How sad for those seventh years if the woman would cancel. “Let’s just hope the woman doesn’t do something that drastic.” She didn’t see why they would have to cancel if security could be at the matches. “Maybe suggest that matches be closed to anyone but students. That could help prevent whomever this is, unless it was a student or staff member.” Could it be though?

She glanced at Mariel, “Do I?” a sarcastic chuckle left her. “I mean she is the manager so I have to deal with all her complaints, see her for schedules, mascots, player cards. Do I really have the upper hand?” She shook her head, “I just feel sorry for that team. She is one control freak.” From what Bart had said the woman was not one to be around. “You’re right he can.” It was a god thing that she had communication. “Could help us both in away.” Not only keeping them updated for safety of Bart, but with what’s going on with Quidditch as well.

Her brown eyes back to Langen as Mariel spoke to the young lady. It seemed she fully ignored Vic and her comment about her dress. Well her problem really. “Oh sure if she isn’t too busy, but I think I can handle them if she is.” The owls would have to take priority over the cleaning at the moment. So maybe Langen should go ahead and start cleaning. She glanced at Mariel to see if she needed anymore from her before pulling out some parchment from her bag to start on the letters.

Mariel nodded distractedly at Victoria's words. She didn't have any real ill will towards the Headmistress - she might have even thought she had been a decent Herbology teacher if Mariel had remotely cared about plants. But she was not impressed with the way that school was run.. not that she ever had been. "We'll think of something," she confirmed with a nod. New talent and recruits were important for their collective jobs here, though safety seemed that it was going to be a big issue now. "Setting something up will need to be priority if she does though." That was their responsibility and she did understand the Headmistress' responsibility as well. "Perhaps.." she mused aloud. "Or adding security as well.." She wouldn't want anyone to take a chance with young lives but that might be a viable solution.

"True," Mariel started with a smirk as Victoria went on about her ex's wife. It did work both ways to an extent. She would have to deal with the complaints and probably some attitude based on what she had heard about the woman, but yes, Mariel did believe that Vic had the advantage here. "You have the power to make her life a living hell though," she added with an amused chuckle. "It's up to you when and where you schedule that team's games. They could be last on your priority list for anything and everything. She's not earning any favors from you by being nasty. Make her work for it a little." She wasn't so sure Vic would, given her personality, but she really should see the power she had. "Besides, you could delegate her team's business to one of the other people in the Quidditch office." If she really didn't want to deal with her she could and they had a better-sized team for getting their work done now. It made things a little easier. Whether or not the woman was controlling over the Catapults wasn't too much of a concern for her. She was new, so she'd see if her tactics turned into wins. That would be what people were looking for.

"I suppose that's true," she nodded, think of how her Potions friend could keep the updated on things. No matter what she thought of the school, the brunette did realize how important it was to know people in different places to count on them for information. Especially now. "I have a cousin that will just be starting work there too. I'll try to have her keeping us in the know as well." But she didn't know how useful she'd really be as flighty as she was. Shrugging that thought off, she gave Vic another nod in regards to the owls. "Your call," she said, offering a small smile. She had put her in charge of Quidditch, so it was up to her what and to whom to delegate work. She glanced at Langen who didn't seem to have any questions just now, then back to Victoria, green eyes falling on her parchment. Good, straight to work and that is exactly what Mariel needed to do. "Looks like we have our work cut out for us. Again." In more ways than one this time. And on that note, she headed for her office. "You know where I'll be if you need anything." Trying to make some sense of this mess.

“I’ll start work on thinking of some ideas, maybe even bring the team together and see what we can come up with for you.” She looked around the office. Though the first priority would be to find a place that’s clean enough to work. So cleaning was on top of the list. “Once we know what she’s going to do it will make our process more knowledgeable.” Maybe they wouldn’t have to do anything that would be the best option, though Victoria felt it wasn’t going to be that simple.

Victoria couldn’t help but laugh, Mariel was right, though could she actually do it? Thoughts of Becky certainly made her blood boil and it would be fun. “Yes I don’t think I’ve gotten to their team for the game schedule yet. Plus I’m almost positive I saw an owl come about some rule breaking.” She grinned a bit, “Oh no I wouldn’t do that to anyone in this office. I wouldn’t be surprised if she hasn’t fired the coach, scout, and the owner really.” She was not someone to deal with and Victoria would never put anyone in that situation. “I bet the warriors threw a party after she left. Maybe I should owl their owner and tell him he owes me big.” She was just joking of course, well about the owling not the party.

“Oh really? What position is she teaching?” Maybe she’d have to see if Bart spoke of her at all. “At least we have some eyes to see what’s going on and keep a watch on Bart.” She felt safer knowing that, though she was concerned for Cosgrach being there as well. She eyed Langen when Mariel said her call, the girl didn’t even seem to be paying a bit of attention so she just shrugged and decided if they were getting one today she’d just do them. “Well get through it” Giving her friend an encouraging smile before pulling out herself write quill. She was really going to have to do some multitasking it seemed. “Don’t worry about us, but yell if you need any help.”

Turning back to the office Vic picked up one of the bottles and began spraying all around the office. The first thing that had to happen was debugging the place. There was not going to be any cleaning done without this.

Langen walked into the office, a thermos of coffee burning her hand. Wasn't that what thermos's were supposed to prevent? Stupid inneficient muggle equipment. Smiling at Victoria and placing a few files on her desk, the tall girl sat down, quickly eating a scone she had bought from a food place before apparating here. It was good, though a little dry. That's what the coffee was here for.

Also, the quidditch thing coming up sounded huge. Hugely awesome! She felt like a child at Hogwarts again, thinking about all of the players she liked or thought hadnsome. Of course, that wasn't the only reason the brunette was excited. It was a chance to prove herself to the boss! Langen hadn't been doing quite well since she started, and this would be a way to prove that she could do the job. If not the her boss, then at least to herself.

Finishing the scone, the twenty year old took another swig of coffee and pushed the container off to the side, gathering some papers and reorganizing them as she pleased. Looking over everything with her chestnut eyes and smiling at the neatness, the woman finally turned to her co-worker, ready for a quick conversation. Apparently there was still a lot to do before the quidditch thing happened, and that meant that the other woman was probably busy.

"Hello, Victoria. Having a good day so far?" Polite conversation was the way to go here. Make your co-workers like you and it would be nicer. That's what her mother said. Which reminded the tall girl. Grabbing a sticky note from her bag, Langen wrote a reminder to pick up her mom's medication tonight. That was going to be rather important.

Mornings! Victoria actually loved some mornings. This was one of them. She had gotten up to happy babbling babies, they didn't fight her to get dressed or eat. The smooth transition to her parents to drop them off and she still had time to stop at the bakery and get some donuts and coffee or herself and her team. They had been working hard with this upcoming event and she wanted to show how appreciative she was for that.

Carrying both in and setting them down on the main table in the office, she made her way over to her own desk before setting her coffee down. Looking around Vic knew she'd be one of the first one there, it wasn't something that happened often, so she'd enjoy the quiet for a moment.

Pulling out some files that were on her desk she flipped through them not sure which to start with first. Maybe letters that she had left on her desk from yesterday. That might not be a bad place to start. Opening the first she groaned, oh yes she forgot about this owl. Victoria's exhusband's wife was always complaining about something. The day she became the managers for the Catapults was they day Victoria knew her happy job would have a thorn in it.

Benji walked into the office, He had been up a bit late and therefore was a bit tired. But he would be fine, it wouldn't be the first time ha had to go into work with a lack of sleep. Excuses were for the weak. He'd had breakfast with Carrie and of course Conan, his messy little puppy. Conan liked to pick his food up out of the bowl and walk a few steps away and then eat it on the floor, leaving little crumbs and things like that on the ground at random, it drove Benji nuts.

He noticed the donuts and would have taken one if he hadn't already had breakfast. He grabbed a coffee instead, he looked up from the main table and saw Victoria at her desk. Making his way over he saw how concentrated she was, but she didn't seem happy about whatever she was reading..hmm. His blue eyes focused and his eyebrow raised, he leaned on her desk a bit with his hands, leaving his coffee there for a moment. "Morning, Boss. Everything all right?" He asked, curious about what she was reading, was it personal or business? Maybe it was both? Now that could be interesting.

She had been so involved in her own thoughts that the blonde didn't hear when someone else had entered the room. So when a voice said boss she jumped. "Oh, good morning Benji. Find my special treat for you guys this morning?" She pointed towards the donuts and coffee if he hadn't, though the coffee in his hands proved otherwise. She still wasn't all the use to the boss word. She had held the position for a year now, but not many people said boss.

Her eyes moved back to the letter and she shrugged, "A manager that doesn't think I have anything to do, but jump at her every need." It probably wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have to deal with the woman on a personal level as well. "She's not happy with some fines that came out of a few problem players last season and this no quidditch at Hogwarts still has her in an uproar. Says she's going to have me fired for my pathetic attempt at managing things. I hope she does come in, Mariel will have a field day with her." Mariel knew the issues and knew the personal side, she didn't think her boss would be seeing Becky's side anytime soon.

Enough about her she set back in her chair, "So Benji, how are things? Are you settling down nicely?" She had given him some training on the regulations, so she hoped it was helping. "How are the contacts for the donations coming? Here anything back from anyone?"

Benji chuckled a little bit, he hadn't been expecting to surprise Vic at all. But he supposed he had, he hoped she wouldn't be offended, overly sensitive people were the worst. Sometimes things were just funny. "Yes, i did.." He held up his coffee. "I'd have grabbed a donut too but my girlfriend made me breakfast this morning.." A little smile reserved just for Carrie-things landed on his normally smug face. She did make the best breakfast ever. "But i'm sure i'll grab one later if there are any left." Benji had a terrible sweet tooth, it was killing him to be full and pass up on free sweets.

And the smile was gone at the sound of this person. "She sounds like she needs a good whacking with a bat.." He hoped that wouldn't be offensive? But at the same time he didn't really care that much. "Oh? Well next time she has a fine i can take it to her and give her a good talking to." He was actually looking forward to doing so, telling people they were wrong and putting them in their place, what a way to make a living!

Benji nodded "Things are pretty good..I'm all settled in, Just got a puppy actually. He's a little bit of a terror but I'll get him in line." Hmm Conan was a little handful but he was Benji's little handful already. Back to business though "Right, the contacts are going well. I have one major supplier willing to donate Quaffles and and Bats. I spoke with an old friend at one of the stores in Ireland and he's willing to do a small sponsorship for the event if we're willing to accept, we could build our budget a little." It was always good making friends in this business, so Benji was glad he had done so. "I also had a smaller retailer who wanted to give away their latest broomstick, but just the one. I was thinking maybe we could do a contest and keeping with the quidditch theme we could release a Snitch and whoever catches it wins the broom? No flying to make things fair for some of the younger ones of course, what do you think?"

Tricksy Hobbitses

Langen walked into the office, feeling rather awake this morning. Which was weird, because nothing had changed in her heavily regimented morning schedule. Yes, a while back, the brunette decided that she was not going to play the part of fool anymore, and changed her schedule so that everything could be done within a day. Including getting solid work done in the ministry and seeing their sick mother. Someone had to be on top of things, and apparently, it wasn't her stupid sister. Which meant that the older sibling had to step up again to the plate.

Anyway, ranting about life aside, her schedule was positively normal today. Wake up early and eat some fruit and toast for breakfast and then go on a run around the neighborhood. The run always calmed her down and allowed her mind to be clear enough to make unrash choices. In fact, it was determined that the day of the conference when she was nervous, the girl hadn't been running and therefore, her mind was clogged with everything that had happened the night before. But ~that~ brand of drama was a can of worms the tall girl was not opening again.

After the run, Langen always got dressed, made her sister some biscuits and jam and herself some morning coffee and then apparated as close as she could to work, always walking in right on time and saying hello to everyone she passed. However, being used to this schedule might have been what caused the complete comfort in her morning routine. And the fact that Langen had put time and extra effort into her look today, even gathering up the courage to wear heels to work, was a certain payoff of this comfort. Hey, no one was complaining about this new schedule, except for her sister Cersie, but that wasn't something that the tall girl dwelled on. She had more important things to do than to dwell on her nineteen year old sister.

Walking over to her desk, the tall girl saw a bunch of people standing around and talking to Victoria and Marial. Cool, conversations with the new employees meant that everyone could get to know each other well. Which was always a fantastic thing. And the tan girl wanted to know everything about he new co-workers, expecially if they wanted to work together for a while. Being the new kid was tough, and Langen wanted to make sure she wasn't calling anyone by the wrong name or asking the wrong thing of people. Lots of mistakes could be made there, and the twenty year old tried to make the least mistakes possible. When your sister was so much of a mess, someone had to save the family.

Pulling the hem of her blue dress down to her knees, the brown eyed girl walked over and smiled at everyone, wanting to jump into the conversation ASAP. The new adult was jealous of people who just seemed to exude confidence to the point where it felt weird not to talk to them, and that was what the girl wanted to be anyway. So that was what she was going to try and do. She smoothed out the french braid in her hair and listened to what Victoria was saying about the manager and how she was managing the place. Why had the girl chosen to braid her hair on the top and then put it into a bun? With the white heels, she had to be at least six feet and two inches tall. It wasn't like anyone was going to see the intricate hairstyle anyway.

Also, this manager, Becky, seemed interesting. Not that Langen had been here long enough to form opinions about bosses or anything like that, but truly interesting.

Default Langen and Benji all through this so didn't quote
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...

Oh he had breakfast, well that was fine. Glancing she noticed someone else coming into the room. “Good morning Langen, I’ve brought coffee and donuts for all of you this morning. My little appreciation for all your hard word.” Browns eyes back to Benji she smiled a bit, girlfriend, not that she needed to know this, but it was sometimes good to know some personal life matters. “Oh I think there will be plenty left over. I always buy too many. Might take some over to the Division Managers in our other two places.” She enjoyed speaking with Saxon and Adam, so a bit of a treat for them would be nice. Plus she’d need to check on how they were doing with things for the event as well.

Chuckling, she shuffled some papers and slid them over to the two of them. “I’m glad you are both here though. Her biggest issue is with her chasers stooging. Rebecca Maroon is one of the most annoying, but most fantastic managers a team can have. She joined the Catapults last year as their manager after moving from Australia.” Had they noticed the last name, most likely, but she shrugged it off, “She also just happens to be my former husband’s wife of the last four years. As much of a pain as she is, she will be on top of your every move this season with regulations. Make sure all your paper work for all teams is very detailed, but especially with the Catapults.” No need in having anymore headaches than she already had.
Sipping her own coffee she listened to Benji talk about settling in, “Good glad to here. Dogs can be a handful. We had one with my ex, my son loved him, but I don’t mind being without one now.” They were so much work. Though she did miss shadow at times. Looking towards Langen she wondered more about her, she really didn’t know this team member well. It was crazy last year with the hanger and then those bugs. “How about you Langen? Settling back into work nicely? All well at home?” Midas well get to know all her employees better.

Impressed, that’s what she kept being over Benji, he was smart and had contacts. This was a great find on Mariel’s side of things. “Wonderful, keep up the good work.” Pulling out some parchment she jotted a few things down. “We’ll need to run the budget stuff passed Mariel, maybe I’ll have you go meet with her since you seem to have the in here on things.” A snitch catching game, she liked it. “I’ll put it down and we can all talk about it when we discuss the games further. Speaking of that. I really need our team to put our heads together and come up with some games and what to do. King of the quaffle had been mentioned, this snitch one, but we need a few to toss around and really come up with a plan.” They had a little time still, but it needed to be talked about and figured out.

Benji looked to the other woman and then back to Vic. He didn't say anything to her because he was already mid conversation, also he wasn't terribly friendly if he didn't have to be. But maybe that was something he should work on? Eghh we'd have to see about that. He noted the smile on Vic's face, he normally had a much goofier one when speaking about Carrie, she was so cute and innocent and he loved it. "Oh, good i'll have to grab one before you do so. I suppose it's always good to be prepared." Office small talk, right. He could do that.

He listened about this 'Rebecca' character. She sounded like a piece of work, Benji was actually a bit excited for meeting those kinda people and telling them all the things they're doing wrong, mmhmm. They would be the most fun, he hated when people were sad, it was so uncomfortable but when people were wrong and they knew that he was right, it was one of his favorite things. "So, it's slightly personal? I'll be sure to be very thorough and critical with her. Don't worry." He smirked because he was starting to like this job more and more. Then they were back to mentioning Conan he shrugged. "It's just the house training i can do without. But he's a cute little dog and Carrie, my girlfriend loves him." He loved the puppy too, it had big blue eyes how could it not be loved?

Wonderful, Benji felt like he was doing very well here. Writing an article was one thing but this was different, he was making things happen and he liked that. It just felt like he was doing more. He was just thinking from a stand point of when he was a kid what would he have wanted out of an event like this? And he went from there. "Excellent, just let me know when to speak with her." He would be more than happy to help the budget increase because that meant bigger and better things. "Right, so more games..We could do something for the littler ones too, something like the goal hoops but smaller and they have to make a goal to win a prize, maybe something small.." He shrugged, just another idea. Quidditch themed games weren't that hard.

Did they know each other? Victoria wasn't sure there were complete introductions which was a fail on her part. They had been in the office for sometime now, she'd hoped her team would all know each other by now. Especially her two regulations. ' "Benji have you met your partner in Regulations yet? Langen?" There introductions done, Vic didn't have time for that sort of thing, they were all adults they could get to know each other on their own time. "Feel free to take as many as you'd like. I know the worker at the cart probably wasn't thrilled to see me bringing things in, but it was a special treat." She needed her team happy to work hard for the event coming up.

Victoria's eyes narrowed and she leaned back into her chair playing with her quill. "Personal?" Victoria Maroon was nothing more than professional and took her job very serious. "I do not put anything personal into this building Mr. Remmington. I am telling you that bit of personal information, because of the same last name. Rebecca Maroon is not one to be messed with. She was of the top manager in Australia and she is on top of everything that goes on with her team." She glanced at both of them, they both needed this information. That team was full of regulation issues last season so they need to keep their alert high. "Good that's what I want to hear." She wanted all reports thorough.

She chuckled about the dog training, "Well when you get him trained, maybe you can work on twin girls." I was about that time for her to start that at home, but at the moment she figured they were fine. Once they turned two it would be priority.

Glancing to Mariel's office she turned back to her workers. "I'll find a moment when's she's free and then I'll set it up for you to speak with her." She felt Mariel would be impressed with his ideas. He was showing great potential and she valued that. "What did you do before here again Benji?" She didn't have his file right at her finger tips and couldn't remember at that moment.

Benji turned to look at the other woman and nodded his head. "Nice to meet you, Langen.." Partner..interesting. He turned back to look at the donuts, later...he'd grab one. It was interesting that the cart worker seemed miffed. He couldn't expect everyone to get snacks from him. "Well, thanks for the treats again."

He raised an eyebrow at her attitude, it wasn't an accusation he was just curious. He wouldn't have assumed there was bad blood there if she wouldn't have made it so. "All right, Boss. Calm down, it was just a question.." He sighed, women could be so touchy sometimes. He's just glad that Carrie wasn't the fiery type. Now back to work related things. "Good..i'll make sure she has nothing to fuss over." He grunned because he had a feeling this job would be fun.

Blue eyes looking over at the DH's office he then turned back to Vic. "Right, sounds good. Just let me know when." He reached into his bag and pulled out the latest issue of 'Bludgers, Bats and Quaffles'. "I was a journalist for this magazine for three years before this. They're based out in California. I don't know what they'll do without me. My replacement is just awful.." He chuckled in an amused way because he'd already gotten calls asking him to come back.

Rebecca Maroon seemed... interesting. Like a random headache was interesting. Making a mental note to triple check all paperwork before handing anything in, Langen continued listening to the conversation, which was quickly delving into this Rebecca character. Her new co-worker, Benji, seemed interesting. Very talkative and with some moxy. Moxy was important, she supposed, but mother told her to never shake the boat, and Langen decided when she handed in the application that she would rather be a rower of said boat than to shake it. So, there was that.

Spacing out slightly to look longingly at the pastry and the coffee (she hadn't had time for breakfast this morning), the brown haired girl jumped back into focus as they started talking about the event again. Ahh yes, this very important event about quidditch. The one that the department needed to work together on. That quidditch event. Catch the snitch sounded interesting. Like something that she and her friends would play. Even though none of them were seekers. Nah, she hung around with the chasers and beaters of Hogwarts. More wild, in her humble opinion. Another idea came to mind, though she held back until it was more formed. If it didn't work it would sound corny, like a primary school game. And that's not what Victoria or Marial wanted. That was obvious.

ALso, greetings. Those were due, weren't they? With everything going on, Benji and the brown eyed girl had never met, and meeting everyone you worked with was important. That was another thing her mother taught her. Quickly patting down the frizz from her french braid into a bun hairstyle, Langen held out her hand.

"I'm Langen Rathers. Nice to meet you, Benji." Hopefully that was right, because that was just served up as a test. A test to see if that was his name or not. Hopefully it was, because if not, then this was going to get awkward.

Woah, so Langen really was under qualified for the job! Journalist for a quidditch magazine? That was actually pretty impressive. The tall girl looked at the cover and smiled a pleasant smile, but at the same time, felt weird inside. Like she needed some big accomplishment too. Something so that she wouldn't be one of the youngest in the department and a hot mess express. Uggh, that expression was her sisters. Curse her stupid language!

"Wow, that's actually pretty awesome!" Might as well tell the truth. After all, lying always made her feel incredibly awkward. Unless the tan girl thought of it as trickery on the field. "That you were a journalist." Awkward Langen was terribly awkward. Yep.

After she had said that, the dark brown haired girl thought of her sister, after all, the older girl had used her younger sibling's lingo. Where was that girl? Hopefully she wasn't doing anything stupid. Though, with that girl, there was no telling. Sighing internally, Langen prepared herself to come home to a messy house tonight.
