There will be times when the workload may be overwhelming and employees might be required to stay over and complete certain tasks. Never fear, though! An area has been set up off the Atrium for those employees to nap and get their required sleep (because the Ministry cares about their employees)!

Ideally shaped, each individual "sleep pod" resembles an upright egg, filled with cushions, pillows, and blankets; the perfect picture of comfort in a setting away from home!

He wanted some peace and quiet. Mordred had revised and corrected his reports for more than three times now, and the dragonologist was becoming stressed out with it. Reports are usually easy for him, but the extra pressure of knowing that he can’t commit mistakes with it has got the best of him. Aside from sprucing up his workplace with plants from the recent plant fair by the DERP, he decided he’d go and do something that will make him forget work for a while.

After letting their secretary know that he’ll be taking a break on Level 8, Mordred equipped himself with his very old sketchbook from during his Hogwarts days, and muggle pencil. The trip there didn’t take long, but the dragonologist had a longer time deciding which pod he’ll occupy. As a man working with dragons, he can’t help but see it as giant dragon eggs...with nice, soft cushions and blankets inside. Finally choosing one that resembled a Common Welsh Green’s egg, Mordred literally crashed on the seat, and was tempted to sleep rather than draw...things.

Grunting, he let himself lie down comfortably and closed his eyes. Power naps are good yes? Yes.

Victoria walked into the relaxation pods, she could use some destressing. It had been a very busy week and somethings she had heard were not making her very happy. She wanted to speak with Mariel about them, but finding the time was always a problem. Inviting her to the pods as well she was hoping her boss and friend could get away for a few minutes.

Taking a seat in one of the pods she tried to relax, but everything going on at home started filling her head and soon her eyes were starting to fill with tears. She let a few shed, but not letting it get too out of hand she wiped them away. She was there to relax not be getting more upset.

Relaxation pods at a workplace was probably one of the most ridiculous things Mariel had ever heard. Who had time to relax at work? The work day was meant to be productive and one could relax once they were done and went home for the day, but that was her opinion. She had heard there were some rubbish studies about how a break or rest during the day improved one's productivity, but wasn't that what a lunch break was for?

She didn't really get the concept but when Victoria asked her to meet her there, she readily agreed. Catching up with her friend or even talking about work would be fine during a small break. It wasn't like they were going to take a nap which is what sort of came to mind when she thought about those things. Did people seriously do that there?

Taking her folder full of paperwork with her, Mariel headed up to the Atrium. It took her a little while to find the place, but when she did, she paused to look around. Huh. These things were.. interesting. Curious, she looked around for a bit until she found Victoria. Maybe it was a trick of the light, but her friend looked rather upset. "Are you alright?" she asked, rather concerned. She wasn't working too hard, was she?

She really didn't mean to get so upset, this was suppose to be relaxing and a chance to catch up with a friend, but yet here she was sitting with tears as Mariel walked into the room. Wiping her face quickly she looked up and tried to smile like everything was fine. There was just too much to do around the office to let personal get in the way even if it was a very close personal going on.

"Oh yes I'm fine, just a bit off today I guess. How are you doing?" She could make the girl thing excuse couldn't she? No one would really know. "Have you ever been in these before?" Once was all she had ever tired them. She liked the, but just never let her self have the time to relax during the day.

"So we have a busy few months coming up. Think we are going to be ready?" She was still irritated by a few things that she had heard, but she'd get to that. Right now it was small talk and getting her emotions in check again.

Mariel raised an eyebrow to Victoria's words as she looked her over carefully. No, she knew her far too long and much too well to be so easily dismissed lie that. Something was clearly upsetting her. "I'm fine. A little busy lately, but fine. I'm not convinced you are though." Mariel tentatively took a seat in one of the pods. Such a strange thing. "Why don't you talk to me about what's going on?"

She looked around at the inside of the relaxation pod and shook her head. "No, never... have you?" She wondered where Vic had gotten the idea to meet here. It was an interesting change of scenery. "Yes.. we do.." she agreed, looking back at her. "I'm certain we will, though I feel like we will be working doubly hard to pull it off." She wasn't sure what it was, but it seemed like the atmosphere around the Ministry was somehow changed lately, even if she did retain her confident outwardly appearance.

She knew she couldn't hide anything from Mariel, there was never a time she could fake anything around her boss. They were best friend so it was a thing. She signed and leaned back in her pod. Maybe she should have tried the sleep thing instead of the catching up thing. Not that she didn't want her friend to know, but she didn't want her concerned knowing she was so busy as well.

"Just a bit stressed lately. With everything going on here and.." she took a few deep breaths and looked in away in the distance thinking about what she was going to say. "My father is in St. Mungos, he has been ill and it's not seeming like he's getting any better." She tried to not break down, she had things to do so there was just no time, but her father being ill was very much weighing on her mind.

"I have, but just one other time. They are pretty comfortable and it's a nice place to duck into and read a little on a lunch break or a few minute meltdown." Like she was having today obviously. "It's never too busy and you can have all the privacy in the world once in the pod. It was a pretty good idea if used appropriately." She listened to Mariel talk about the event and nodded. "I had a concerning conversation in the fitness room the other day with someone on level five. She said her job was to get all the equipment and vendors for the event. It through me, because why on earth would Level 5 be getting equipment when we are the Quidditch division? Do they not think I can handle this?" She never felt she had support from the DH when she was running, but so was his wife, but maybe it was more then just his wife running why he didn't want her in the position.

She never felt she had support from the DH when she was running, but so was his wife, but maybe it was more then just his wife running why he didn't want her in the position.

Trying to get a little more comfortable in one of the pods, Mariel turned to look at Victoria. She knew something was bothering her friend, but she hoped that it was nothing work-related because she would feel at least partially responsible. But if it was that, it was also likely an easy fix. And even though that seemed like it was part of her issues, it wasn't all and Mariel frowned a little in concern.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." She had gone through the same issues with her own father years ago, right around the time she started at the Ministry. In fact, it was why she moved back here from New Zealand and got a job at the Ministry. Unfortunately, the healers there were unable to do much for him either. "I hope they are able to do something. And if you need anything at all from me, please let me know. If you need some time off or me to watch the girls, I'd be happy to make that happen."

Hmm, she supposed these relaxation pods weren't too bad. They were rather comfortable, though she couldn't see someone actually taking a nap in one. But she did like the privacy idea and had a few ideas running through her head when she looked back at Victoria. "Equipment? No, that does not make sense at all and clearly someone is misinformed. They are supposed to help with this, not do our jobs. I will talk to Gidyun and straighten things out." Ugh. She was growing annoyed now. Maybe her department should have handled this on their own as they had organized events in the past. With as many of them working on this, if they weren't all on the same page it was going to be a bumbling mess. And she was not about to take the blame for that, because that would be what it came down to.

It was very sweet of Mariel to offer time and to watch the girls, but Victoria was hoping to be able to handle everything on her own. She was always like that and she knew that Mariel had seen her at her lowest point, but she still wanted to try to be able to handle it all. "I'll let you know. As of right now he is stable and doing alright. I'm hoping he'll be strong enough to come home soon. My brother is suppose to be coming in soon, but we'll see how that goes. I don't even remember the last time he has been around to actually help with something." Never the reliable one. "The girls would love to see you even if it was for a play date with all of us. We should really get together with them soon. I feel like I haven't seen Alejandro and Regina is a long time." She adored the kids and she knew her own did as well.

"I felt kind of rude towards the woman, but it really twisted my nerves when she said she was almost finished getting all the equipment for the event. Where on earth would they be getting equipment. No one has gone through me for permission into our storage." She knew it could easily have been another coworker that gave the access, but it was very odd she wouldn't have known about it "I know we are working with a few departments, but we really have to make sure we have everything in line. These little details could cost us fines and chances to ever get the event again." It wasn't a risk Victoria would ever take. She knew her friend knew what she was doing, but she thought bringing it all up couldn't hurt either.

It didn't surprise Mariel too much that Victoria didn't immediately accept her offer. She was the type to want to try to do it all on her own and she could certainly relate. But she would do her best to be supportive so she offered a small smile. "Well, let's hope so," she said with a nod. "We'll hope for the best, and maybe your brother will come around. Things like this have a way of making people come together." It was unfortunate that it took something like this, but it would be better late than never. "Oh, they would love a playdate. We'll have to set that up too, whenever you're free." But if it was overwhelming for Vic, then she was just having all the kids at her house. Or maybe she'd just have everyone over anyway.

She listened to Vic vent a little about the woman she had met, then she shook her head a bit before she continued. "Clearly there is some sort of miscommunication. If they do end up getting some equipment, then they are wasting their time. There will not be sports equipment at the tournament that is not carefully selected by the Games and Sports department." If another department took it upon themselves to do the same thing, it would be for nothing because it wouldn't be used. Another department would not know the regulations that they did. "Yes, I know this," she said a bit shortly. She wasn't annoyed with Victoria, but she did know all about fines and regulations as well as keeping others in line. Plus hearing that others were trying to do their job for them when they clearly had no business doing so put her off. "I did say I would speak to Gidyun. I will let him know that they are crossing a line, if that is indeed what is happening." For all she knew though, this woman that Victoria was speaking to had no clue what she was truly doing.

Her best friend was very sweet and she didn't know if she really could do all of this without her. SO much in her life had happened while working here. The twins birth and her issues afterwards would have been a disaster if it wasn't for Mariel and her support and now she was showing it all over again. "I hope he does, dad hasn't seen him in so long and was asking about him. I think he is worried he might not..." She couldn't finish the sentence before she was in tears, the tears she was trying to not have here. "Sorry" Wiping her face she pulled herself back together. "Lets do a play date soon then." She would love to get together with friends. It had been awhile since she had done that.

Miss communication, she figured as much. It had just been a shock and fully frustrating to hear it. "Exactly my people are already on this and we know what we are doing. I have not been working here as long as I have without knowing what I'm doing." She said a little frustrated. She knew Mariel knew and she didn't take any offense to her shortness. It was all just crazy frustrating. She didn't get where people were coming from. That's all she wanted was something to be done about it to make sure they weren't stepping on each other's toes.

Closing her eyes she leaned back in the pod. She truly felt like she needed to take a few minutes. "This off season isn't going to feel to off I'm afraid." She chuckled, because secretly she loved being so busy and having so much going on.

Mariel turned her full attention to Victoria and listened to her as she spoke. She could relate to the situation so well, though she wished that she couldn't. "Oh no, it's alright," she said, shaking her head slightly as Vic got a little emotional. She didn't mind the tears, and she knew that they were necessary sometimes. She could be that shoulder to cry on if need be. "Of course we will," she added with a smile in response to the play date. "Maybe this weekend if you'd like." Or anytime that she was needed to take the kids.

Mariel understood Victoria's frustration as she would have felt the same way in her shoes. As it stood, she was more annoyed than anything. Someone in the other department clearly had their information wrong and was acting on it, which could cause issues for them. She would have to nip that in the bud before it got out of control, which only meant more work for her. "Yes, of course... I trust that you can handle this and do your job correctly. I will get this straightened out today." When they were done here. Which meant that she had to rearrange her afternoon schedule, but she felt this rather important to be addressed quickly.

Chuckling at Victoria's words, she nodded. "Does it ever? Though I suppose this year even more so... It will all be worth it in the end." She was rather looking forward to it and enjoyed staying busy. Not to mention this was the next step in hosting something even bigger.

"I know they are getting older, but I just thought there would be more time. Helena won't even remember him and the twins, they are so young to understand, but so close to him. Bart is taking his illness hard as well. I know he's struggling being so far away." She hated seeing her family suffer, but hopefully father would be alright and they could move past this. Her emotions getting the best of her knowing she was very lucky to even have her parents at this age in her life. "This weekend would be perfect. The weather is suppose to be nice, maybe the park?" Getting out would do them all some good.

She was relieved to know Mariel was going to take care of the issues, not that she couldn't have, but with everything going on right now it was nice to have support and since she wasn't the boss and Mariel was it would be done faster. "Thank you, with everything going on I just want things to go as smoothly as possible, then if I do need to take some time away I won't worry that there is going to be a mess to do with when I get back." No one knew what life was going to bring, so it was always good to be as prepared as possible.

[B] "No, I don't think it does actually. There is always something that needs to be done. Even the slower off seasons there were always deadlines and something going on. Though without Rebecca some of the issues seemed to have quieted down. She highly enjoyed dealing with the Catapults now.

Mariel nodded solemnly. She knew that feeling all too well having been through it herself. In fact, neither of her parents ever got the chance to even meet her children. It made her sad to know that they'd grow up without grandparents at all on her side of the family. And even though they had many family members and a lot of people who loved them, there would always be that part missing. She didn't have anything to say in response to that, she simply listened and nodded her understanding. "Oh the park would be lovely. The kids haven't been there lately. I think that's the perfect choice with the weather getting nicer." It had always been a favorite and she was rather looking forward to it.

Mariel would certainly take care of anyone who seemed to be misinformed on what exactly their job entailed and she would certainly oversee the Quidditch employees if Victoria did need to take some time away. But she felt no need to reiterate that fact. Victoria knew that she would. "Well, that's always the way its been," she smiled lightly, knowing Quidditch always kept the department so busy. "I guess it's why I always loved this department so much." And why she could not understand why the Ministry insisted on being closed during their busiest time.

The park was just perfect, she couldn't wait to take all the girls. "The twins will be so excited to see Regina and Alejandro." Helana would be excited too, but being younger she wouldn't figure it out until they were there. " I can't believe the twins will be seven this year." She thought about something and looked up at her friend. "Do you remember when it is considered late for magic to be shown?" Not that she was worried or anything. The girls would show it, there was no reason with two pureblood parents that they wouldn't.

Yes, Victoria knew it was the way things were most of the time. Communication was always an issue in the ministry. She was grateful her own department wasn't like this. They were so good at saying what was going on. She never had to have an issue. Her team was trained well, because she couldn't deal with less then high standards.

Looking at the time she signed, "I guess we need to get back. I have a meeting in an hour that I need to get the paper work set for." Contracts were always so fun.

Mariel nodded, smiling. "Oh, my kids will be excited too. They love seeing your kids. We really should have playdates more often." She knew why sometimes it was hard to get together though. People were always busy and it was sometimes hard to coordinate schedules, but it was important to make time for once in a while.

"Seven.. wow.. where did the time go?"
Even though it seemed quite a bit away, she knew Regina would be seven before she knew it. She could hardly believe she was four already and Alejandro two. "Oh, I think by eight or nine at the latest.. Have they not shown any signs yet?" she asked lightly, not to concern her. It wasn't like it was too late yet or anything and some just took their time. "I've heard that sometimes the signs are so subtle that they can be overlooked."

Mariel arched her back a bit to stretch it before she got up out of one of the pods. "Yes, I suppose you are right. It was nice to have a little chat though." But neither of them could spend too much time off-topic with the tournament looming over them.

It was settled they would go to the park that was a wonderful thing to know they would be doing. Where did the time go, "I know some days I feel like I just started here and started to getting to know each other, but that was so long ago now." So much had changed and now her twins were seven. "Elisa has started. She was in the room the other day and Alana got so scared because Elisa made a doll fly against the wall, but Alana hasn't. I figured the tempered child would show it before the calm one, but maybe that's why she hasn't." Alana had always been a bit more of a handful then Elisa and she did have that heart issues at the beginning. "Maybe that is it too. With everything going on maybe we just overlook them." Alana was a bit sneaky she could see that as a possibility.

"It was nice to chat and it really helped, thank you." She knew her friend could help her, but she hated to feel like she was being a burden. "We should have a girls night soon." Just them going out for dinner and drinks.
