 The work areas are the main hub of the department. Staff can always be found somewhere around here and each desk has their own in tray, out tray and miscellaneous tray so they can keep their paperwork neat and tidy. Quills, parchment and ink can be found in the top drawer of the cabinet to the left of desk. The other drawers can be used as the staff find appropriate. All divisions have their own space, though the area is open for all staff to approach each other as needed and work well as a team.

He had been working for three months or so and still needed to get used by this work environment. Despite of that, it's been great and Jordan quiet enjoyed his new job apparently. At least he wouldn't need to deal with teenagers anymore, one thing that made him couldn't stand being a professor at Hogwarts.
The new magical beings enforcement officer--Goodness, his position was quite mouthful to be pronounced, arrived a little bit earlier than usual. He headed to his cubicle with his coffee tumbler on one hand and a paper bag of breakfast sandwich that he got from the cafe across the street. Jordan needed to catch up on some documents that he couldn't finish yesterday, that's the reason why he was early and hopefully this would be done soon and he could head back home on-time. Although... he rarely worked after hours unless it was urgent.

Rose had now been working in the Creatures department for a whole year and it felt still fresh, new and challenging. Juggling two jobs within the department was not as easy breezy as she had initially thought it would be. But she was a Kitridge and Kitridges never shied away just because things got though. Brushing away her for the day down and loose long black hair out of her face she headed into the work area to file some paper work.
She had spent the early morning from 4am in Margaret Bloom's backyard removing an unwanted infestation of rabbits and rodents that the very angry senior witch had intended to kill off with magic right in the heart of a muggle village because they were eating up her vegetables. Luckily Rose had gotten there in time and had managed to stop the witch from doing something that would have landed her in an MLE cell.
Spotting Jordan as she walked into the heart of the work area, and her stomach couldn't help but growl loudly at the sight of coffee and whatever he had in that breakfast bag. "Hi, Jordan!" Rose greeted with a half smile/half yawn.

Sipping his coffee, Jordan grabbed the document on his desk and read it. Hmmm... He's still halfway through it, but hopefully the new DMC employee could finish and handed it to Morgenstern before lunch break.
But first... Let him enjoy the sandwich. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you know?
While the 34 year-old man was enjoying his quick breakfast, someone came in and she looked like she's being up all night doing whatever sje was doing. It wasn't particularly his business and not that he cared though. "Looks like someone didn't get enough beauty sleep last night." He sniggered at his co-worker. "Hey, Rose. What's up?" Jordan asked.

Slowly making her way into the heart of the DMC work area Rose wondered if it was against the ethics to just conjure forth breakfast for herself from the atriums buffet rather than going down there to buy it in person? She was too tired to even consider going down there. So succumbing to her stomach growl's Rose used her wand to conjure forth yoghurt, a cheese sandwich and some coffee onto her work desk.
Slipping into her desk chair she two the first few sips of coffee before the 32 year old woman turned her gaze towards Jordan not sitting that far away from her. Rose produced a weak smile in his direction as she responded. "Good morning Jordan or is it good day now? I've been on my feet since 3 am. A batty old witch was threatening to exterminate a population of creatures in a high muggles populated area with magic from her garden bushes so it came on my plate to talk her out of it." Sheesh, it hadn't been easy that was for sure. "So now I have to file the paper work. Have you got anything interesting to do on your end?"

From Level 5's Testing Room, Albert's Abraxan patronus found its way to their work station where most of the DMC employees would be at this time of the day. The day was rather quiet and relaxed for the Level 4 occupants, which was good, considering that the Patronus bore some...not so good news. After encircling everyone to get their attention, the Abraxan landed gracefully near where Jordan and Rose were and the winged horse's mouth opened to reveal its message:
"Ladies and gentlemen of Level 4, may I have your attention please," Albert's voice echoed inside the room, demanding each and every one's focus to it, "Immigration's Smuggling Case has finally yielded tangible results in the form of Romanian Longhorn Dragon Eggs, which is now in my possession for further testing. However, during their operation, what seemed to be Basilisk Eggs were thrown in the mix of tested evidence. One of the eggs have hatched, and is now roaming the halls of the Ministry. As of the moment, we do not have the final set protocols for emergencies like this, but since we are the DMC, it is expected of us to contain the situation without alarming the whole Ministry," Albert's Patronus paused for the words to sink in.
"As most of you should know, juvenile or newly hatched Basilisks are relatively harmless at this stage, but still proceed with its entrapment with caution. Its gaze could induce discomfort, and its bite could leave you numb so be careful when you come across it. It would leave weak poison in its wake as it slithers around so that should give you a clue about its whereabouts. Newborn Basilisks feed on earthworms, guppies, or cooked fish so it would be wise to check areas that offer these components: Our DERP neighbour, and perhaps the Cafeteria." the Abraxan paused again as it straightened its mane, just like how Albert would stand on his full 6'4" height. "I'm afraid that we have no choice, but clean up after Immigration's mess. Gear up and get ready to hunt for a blasted rogue newborn Basilisk. Lastly, we have steel boxes back in the Dragonology Laboratory. You have my permission to use it to contain the newborn Basilisk when you find it. Leave it in the Laboratory for proper Execution and Disposal. Thank you, and good luck." with a final thundering stomp, the Patronus poofed in a puff of glittery white smoke and vanished.
Becca did mention two years ago that the Ministry saw their Department as a joke. It had been a hard pill to swallow, considering that this time, DMC isn't at fault. One could only sigh and do a head desk, but with a rogue baby basilisk on the loose, they really have no time for such dramatics.
Time to step up to the plate, Level 4!

Jordan nibbled his sandwich and listened to his co-worker story about what made her looked so sleepless. "Oh, bugger." That was the first word coming out from his mouth as he listened to her. "That witch sounds like she's lunatic or just didn't have a life at all." Heh. Well, who on earth was up at 3 AM and give a threat about wanting to exterminate a population of creatures? Clearly that none normal people would do that. Merlin, there were just too many mental witch and wizards around right now.
Had he got anything interesting to do on his end? Nah. "Just a couple of paperwork from the investigation I'd done days ago. And after that probably Morgenstern would need my help for any other thing but.. We'll see." Jordan kinda hoped that his boss would ask him to do more work outside the office like doing more investigation or something like that. But then he saw an abraxan patronus approaching their work area. What a beauty, he thought before he realized that it was from Morgenstern. An immigration smuggling case and... Did he just mention about a juvenile basilisk just roamed around the hall? Merlin's beard. "Looks like we have an emergent task to do." So what would he do first, looking for food for the basilisk?

Rose got started on her sandwich and yoghurt in between rehashing her sleepless morning to Jordan when he said Oh, bugger, who even said that? Nobody in her family used that phrase except for maybe her brother's wife Cassie. Shaking her head as she took a sip from her hot latte Rose said after some thought a hint of a smile in her tone. "Nah not a lunatic, she was just a witch that loved her garden like someone else loves their pets and when that get's threatened she attacked to defend rather than think reasonably about even at 3 AM......" She realized now that she actually admired the batty witch even if she had pulled Rose out of bed at that ghastly hour.
"It sounds like you've got a good relationship with Morgenstern." Leaning forward slightly after taking another latte sip Rose confided. "I personally think he is scary. I keep out of his way." It was something with his piercing eyes when he looked at her that made her feel uncomfortable. She was going to ask about what kind of paper when an abraxan patronus galloped into the work area and started speaking in Morgenstern's voice that spoke in his usual tone that always seemed to demand attention. As it spoke Rose made mental oh wow's as things were revealed. Smuggled dragon eggs and basilisk eggs and one of the eggs had hatched and now a baby snake was on the loose. When the abarxan patronus disappeared Rose turned to Jordan and nodded. "Yes, looks like we have to gear up and leave. Shall we search for the snake together? I can fetch the steel boxes from the dragonology lab if you can fetch the food?"

He had moved back to Great Britain since three years ago, hence explained the American accent but sometimes Jordan picked some British slangs out of nowhere. Probably it kinda sound funny to say bugger in non-English accent, huh? Not that he care actually. "Ah, I see." If Big Boss was being attacked at 3 AM, he would go insane too maybe. But it's kind of impossible since his clingy dog always wanted his cuddles at night and would never leave the bed until the sun's out.
He had a good relationship with Morgenstern? Well... Jordan respected that man and he's such a good boss. "I think we're just bonding because we both were former professors." And he wasn't kind of person who got intimidated easily so... Perhaps other people thought thay Morgenstern was kind of scary and intimidating sometimes. Finishing his coffee and sandwich, the 34 year-old stood up from his seating. "Yeah, I'll get the breakfast for the baby." Or maybe brunch? Huh, who cared at all? Dealing with newly-hatched basilisk would be dangerous but Morgenstern was right, they had to be prepared with this situation. Quickly Jordan left his work area for food hunting... For the basilisk obviously.

It was nothing honestly but Rose couldn't help but think it sounded funny when people tossed around British slang words in non-British accents. It just made her smile. Jordan had all though she doubted strongly that he knew that also gotten his english americanized like her grandmother hated. Rose didn't mind but moving to the Us wasn't something she was keen on doing anytime soon. She had her roots in England and her whole family.........Mind back on the case she queried curiously "Wouldn't you want to protect your home and pets too from an unwanted infestation of hazardous creatures?"
Eyes widening slightly in surprise Rose asked "Really you and Morgenstern have both taught students? I can picture you teach CoMC as a professor, but not Morgenstern." Even if the man demanded respect and Jordan liked him she couldn't see him do that for some reason. Finishing up her breakfast quickly Rose left her cubicle shortly after Jordan to get the steel cages from dragonology that Morgenstern had requested.
