Here you will find the extensive library containing all of the information and research gathered from the work that the Department of Mysteries has uncovered since it's inception. Photos, actual artifacts, a warded bell jar containing a broken timeturner, and countless tomes, grimoires and records fill the space. Including, a certain book of fairytales which made everyone at Hogwarts believe that they were characters from fictional children's stories during 2084.

As an Unspeakable, you may use the archives to further your research or even document the discoveries you've made or update existing files. Visitors to the Department of Mysteries will need to be granted permission either by their Department Head or another higher-up.

If you aren't at all sure where to start, you can pull up to the main desk and tell the archivists what you're looking. She'd probably be happy to help you out. If you're more of a self-starter, however you can check the bureau drawers for any specific information you might need. It will tell you where certain bits of information are kept.

Woe to the person who damages the charges of Miss Elizabeth Greene.

In the midst of his potions research in the Locked Room, Oliver came across some curious results. Results that were rather unexpected given his years of work in potions. And after reviewing his notes several times, he was still unsure of where the anomaly occurred.

The findings with this particular result were gnawing at him. Perhaps he should just file them away for the time being and try another run to observe those results and compare. But he had another idea. Maybe something in the archives could help him make sense of things, especially if someone else had found something unexpected in a similar environment. Then he could compare those to help find some answers.

Stepping inside for the first time, Oliver gave the room a quick cursory glance. Where even to begin? No immediate sign of any archivists so he ventured further inside. Being an Unspeakable himself, surely he was permitted to be inside, but hopefully no one would have any issue with him digging through files. He would clean up any mess he made before he left.

While usually maintaining his presence in the Space Chambers, Val on occasion would make his way over to the Archives. Additional support, keeping updates.. and other times just for a bit of light reading. To the average employee he was another researcher, keeping to himself.

Today however, was looking to be a change in pace. Val's timing on arriving was on point with knowing he would be some seclusion. The sight of another man though, well.. His gaze remained a moment longer on him as he considered the chances on him being another worker or just someone too curious for their own good.

"Looking for somezing?"

Oliver had found himself quite lost in the potions files as they were quite vast and he thumbed through the past decade or so, stopping to read when something caught his interest. And that was quite often. Because he was not lost in the literal sense as if he did not know where to turn next, though there was still something of a mystery for him to figure out. But he was more lost as in so consumed with looking through the archives that he was losing all sense of space and time.

It was only when a voice somewhere behind him took the man out of his reverie and he paused a moment before turning to locate the source of the sound. "I actually am looking for something quite specific," he said, nodding almost imperceptibly in agreement. And he hadn't quite found it yet, nor was he completely sure that this person would be able to point him in a better direction than the path that he was currently taking. "I wasn't aware that anyone was on duty just now." Or if there had been, then he was in another area when he first came in.

An open-ended question answered with an open-ended response. Interesting.. Val considered again. He had not personally been asked for his reasons on being here so there was no need to explain himself, in his mind. "Eez that something worth sharing at the moment?" Or perhaps it was something that needed to be found before being clarified. This was looking to be another man of mystery.

Regardless though, the man in his mid-twenties stepped forward. Not hurriedly, in the event some information needed to be kept classified. "This would the first time I've had to share this area vith." If he caught his drift. "I take it you're not just here for light reading?"

Oliver turned his attention away from the files to regard the man a little more fully. Neither of them were giving the other more than a vague yet adequate answer, which he found to be rather interesting. He could see that kind of interaction between any Unspeakable and another person from another department. Perhaps it became second-nature to be guarded and enigmatic when posed with a question that could breach the sensitive nature of their work. But now Oliver was nearly certain that this man worked in this department. Whether or not he worked in this actual room was still to be determined.

The question was an interesting one though. "That remains to be seen," he answered. He still wasn't completely sure about what he needed to find, hoping that once he came across relevant research that the answer would jump out at him as obvious. Or at least as obvious as it could be until he studied it more carefully. "Do you research potions?" The other man did not appear to be familiar enough to him that he'd work in the same part of this department, but one never knew where another's skills lay. Perhaps he could be of some use.

Oliver squinted as the man stepped closer and left another vague statement open to interpretation. "Do you work in this area then?" Perhaps that was the reason for all the questions, but Oliver couldn't be too sure. He could not unintentionally give anything away. This room was not quite as secure as his own. "I'm not," he answered, confirming the younger man's assumptions. "Doing a little research of my own to... explain some findings." The thought of light reading rather amused him. This was hardly the place for such a thing.

Thomas walked into the archives often, his work always demanded a full research and study. That and over the course of sixteen years within the department he was bound to use this room more often then others.

He stood by the door, waiting to see if the anyone approached him so he could place his order. After a few minutes he quickly slipped in and browsed the archives for a moment before finding what he was looking for and flipping it's pages with intent.

Addison had no real reason to be in the Archives section of her department this morning. However being as she was the Head of the Department she felt as if it was only right to take a walk through each area making sure all was well. Nothing bothered her more then when things were out of place, dirty or when she just didn't know what was there. What if one of her people came to her asking for or about something and she had no idea? That just wouldn't do.

Which is why she was here. Might as well start somewhere. Addy gave a small nod of her head in greeting towards Miss Elizabeth Greene before entering the archives area. Silently the blonde walked up and down the area taking in all the items and files which appeared to be in some type of order. Nothing was touched but she was making a mental note of where things were seen and what was being held in the room.
