The Anti-gravity Chamber is located inside of the Space room, the room in which upon entering you are greeted by the sight of total blackness and small spatterings of light and multicoloured clouds which resemble nebula. If you are not familiar with the Space room you may find it easy to become disoriented, but those who know their way around the Department of Mysteries shouldn't be too concerned. Simply bear right and continue walking. Reach your hand out and watch it be surrounded by light as well as become light. That is lose it's heaviness.

You've reached the Anti-gravity Chamber which is used for studying and testing the physical effects of certain magics in a weightless environment. It's also really fun to eat and drink in here and we highly recommend giving it a try.

Loud buzzy sort of noises were being made by Jasper Mitterbill as he vacuumed the space around him from a flotation point midway between the room. If you could imagine a middleaged merman of sorts doing menial house maintenance tasks, that was Jasper Mitterbill as he cleaned up the Anti-gravity room via suction.

He didn't mind any of the previous Department Head's meetings, felt they were informative and usually pleasant, but he thought that he'd seen some signs of disapproval in some of his fellow co-workers just before or right at the moment when said meetings had begun. He wasn't going for disapproval, but he did want to make sure that the Unspeakables were on course and kept informed of the goings on around the Ministry and this was one sure way to do it. He didn't have to have it in the Anti-gravity room, but in a moment of whimsy he couldn't build an argument strong enough to convince himself to not. Besides, he was looking at it from a interdivisional view point. The lot of what they did there was research and research often does better when backed up by other research and information. It was his way of getting the other Unspeakables to feel more comfortable entering the Space Chamber.

But the area, being what it was, required absolute cleanliness. If they'd be eating in here no bits of dust and debris should be present as they wouldn't taste too nice with the iced coffee or sandwiches.

Edward came into work that day and noted the 'invitation' to join Jasper in the anti-gravity room. Was it a room he'd be all floaty like? He wasn't sure how he felt about that, but grabbed his notebook and quill and headed that direction. When he entered the room, which was fun to find since he'd never been IN the anti-gravity room he felt a sense of weightlessness. He looked around for something to hold on to and saw Jasper vacuuming.

Jasper's head turned at the entrance of Edward and greeted him with a floaty hair smile. "Mr. Lennox. Good to see you." He greeted warmly his new liaison as his tie got sucked into the vacuuming contraption and Jasper had to switch it off. He cleared his throat, straightened his tie then offered the following advice. "It's a lot like swimming, but if need be we can adjust the amount of weightlessness."

Jasper then wheeled the vacuum over to what looked like a blank wall with a small handle. In this moment of unperturbed Englishness, Jasper pulled the tiny handle and slid open a compartment to stow away the vacuum for the moment.

Edward noted the boss' smile and waved at him. This caused him to start rotating in the air. He listened to the other man's instructions and began to attempt a nice breast stroke. This propelled him some, but as there was less friction than with water, it merely inched him toward a wall. He felt like if he made it to the wall, he could kick off as a means of propulsion.

After what seemed like an eternity, Edward pressed his hands against the wall and pushed off. When he was moving in another direction, he manipulated his body with a twist and a half tuck and faced Jasper. This seems like a nice place to work. I imagine at the end of the day, it's a bit more difficult to get your bearings once gravity lays hold of you again. Is there some sort of decompression chamber for the employees here to utilize before trying to regain the use of their legs?

Upon arriving to work this morning, Jade had noticed the notice on the board and cleared off her schedule for the lunch hour. She had originally planned to head out to grab a bite with her cousin, but seeing that there was to be a department meet; she needed to attend. Plus the thought of getting to go to the Anti gravity chamber was intriguing to her. It was after all one of many chambers she had yet to visit during her time in the department.

The moment she enter the chamber, she experienced a sense of weightlessness that she could only compare to something she once felt whilst her time in the Death Chamber. It wasn't a completely bad feeling, but she wasn't completely comfortable it and attempted to push it to the side as she made her way more into the room and toward the gentlemen present.

"There you go, Mr. Lennox." He said watching brightly as his friend and co-worker took to the anti-gravity chamber quite well. He meanwhile reached into another wall compartment and removed a box of tea sandwiches."There is one, yes. I'll have Miss Lewis show you to it once the meeting is through." She knew the space chamber best of all their current employees, he reckoned, despite her absence. "Care for a sandwich?" He said opening the box and letting them all float out. Little triangle and square cut fresh-looking things held together with a thick thread hoop of food-safe plastic. The green threads ones were vegetarian.

"Miss Monroe. Welcome." It was good to have a lady present and if weren't in such low gravity he'd've stood. "Would you care for a sandwich or perhaps a tube of tea or iced coffee?" He said catching one of the floating sandwich cuts with the ring of plastic pierced through it's middle to hold it together.

"You weren't here last year, Miss Monroe, but under the supervision of Mr. Ashby Summers, we were meant to host a program meant for young hopefuls to gain work experience in the field as Jr. Unspeakables. After speaking with the Minister, I feel like that might be served better in about a years time. In the meantime, though, I've called you here to discuss interdisciplinary opportunities for us to further our research." Jasper conjured a clear writing board and affixed it with a sticking spell to the roof of the Anti-gravity chamber and wrote the following for the late-comers.

Edward quite enjoyed the feeling of weightlessness, though he wasn't sure he would particularly enjoy working here everyday. It must take a special type of wizard to do this kind of work. How would you even note anything? You'd always be tracking after your quills and parchment and ink even. Edward envisioned little floating ink blobs all over..and OH..the mess trying to clean them all up after work. He just shook his head (which caused his whole body to shift). He turned and smiled at the offer of lovely tea sandwiches. I think I would rather like one. I think I'll go with the cucumber and butter, if you don't mind. It was then that he noticed another person that Jasper had addressed.

Hello there. I'm Edward Lennox. I work in the ever-locked room. I don't believe we've had the pleasure to meet. He would have extended his hand, but he wasn't sure he could get it to reach at the moment, so he just waved.

He noticed Jasper also adding the board and the note. That was good, it would give them more time to work through idiosyncracies of working in each division of this area. It didn't exactly lend itself to interns, did it?

"Mr. Mitterbill. Thank you," Jade smiled as she make her way further into the chamber. "A tube of tea would be lovely," she replied as her body began to become accustom to the weightless sensation. She pondered if it was able to totally simulation this outside in a safe capacity. There was much planning to be done for her.

"Nice to officially meet you Mister Lennox," she replied with a wave of her own. In her time in the department, she had randomly seen Edward in passing coming and going to their respective chambers; but it was nice to be formally introduced. "I'm Jade Monroe. I'm currently back in the Thought Chamber."

"I did hear mention of a program like that before my brief leave," Jade replied. She had been a bit upset that she wasn't going to be part of it since she had believed that it was to begin during her leave. Perhaps the fates were looking down upon her and she would get to be part of the program after all in a years time. Pulling a notebook from her jacket, she began to jot everything down.

Jasper caught one of the green tagged sandwiches and flung it toward Edward. Slow yet fast it spun like a carnival ride through the air and headed toward the Love Specialist. Jasper watched for a minute, half expecting Mr. Lennox to take a bite out of the flying sandwich midair. He at least didn't want anything embarrassing like for it to fall apart before reaching it's destination or miss it's mark completely. He'd never been a terribly good aim even before the nerve damage.

He took another bite of his own sandwich, realizing after the first bite that he was actually very peckish, as Mr. Lennox introduced himself to Miss Monroe. Was it Miss or Mrs.? Had he forgotten or had he not asked? "Miss Monroe takes care of the encephalons there for us." He said reaching for a tube of tea and lightly swatting it over toward Jade. "Amongst other very important things." Smile. "Speaking of which, how are things in the thought room?" This might have been a very good segue into the topic he hoped to address.

Edward smiled at Jade. It was nice to meet other people who worked in the same department. Even among the unspeakables, it seemed there was some reticence to socialize. Perhaps it was the secretive nature of their work, or the natural inclination of introverts to be involved in this type of work. He nodded to her and said A pleasure. Perhaps we'll learn more about our department in meetings such as this.

He saw Jasper toss a sandwich in his direction. Edward hoped that he would be able to handle it. As it got closer, he reached out his hand and watched as the portion not covered in butter began to separate from the remainder of the sandwich. He reached out quickly and pushed the sandwich back together and smiled at the idea of eating in a near weightless environment. He brought the sandwich to his mouth and took a small bite from it. It was tasty and refreshing. Very nice, I must say, Jasper.

"They're not bad, are they? I made them myself." He never reached great culinary heights, but years of being alone and when he wasn't alone, having to entertain the multitude of vegetarian friends that came with seer circles lent a hand to being able to produce a decent veggiwich.

"I admit that at first I considered the challenges of hosting the meeting in such low gravity, but accounting for the challenge I thought it worked nicely for my reason for having called you here. There are, for example, multiple ways of going about a single problem. Understanding the effects of time, say might be achieved through inventions like the time-turner, but also through studying Astrophysics. And, not to get too dark, but death and love might also have an overlapping region where protective magic backed by sincere and intense love may combat magic meant to kill." As it did in the case of the Potter boy more than 100 years ago. He stopped here, however to check that everyone was following along. "Everyone still with me?" He asked as he wrote added the note There are many areas of overlap to our research to the board.

Vanessa hurried to the Anti-Gravity Chamber. She walked in on Mr. Mitterbill saying... "I agree Mr. Mitterbill, however, love is an essence. Its very existence is spontaneous, translucent, as well as parasitic in a way. Love tends to transform, while Death is forever" said Vanessa as she floated toward the rest of the group. She turns and smiles and politely introduces herself. "I'm Vanessa Mortaine, Death Specialist."

Abby entered the room.

She was dressed in an all black attire, which mad her grey hair pop up like a Christmas light but all her tattoos and most colorful features were hidden under the long sleeves of her turtle neck black shirt, and you could only see a necklace with a bright stone hanging from her neck.

She saw Mr. Mitterbill in the front of the room, distributing sandwiches and hovering around, holding the meeting for the new and old employees.

She knew she was a little late, so without disturbing, she managed to slide to the back of the room with a little impulsion, ending her movement with a somersault like an experienced anti-gravity-girl.

She had to admit, this was one of her favorite parts of her job and she used to spend a lot of time here working of just floating around. She remained quiet, attentively listening to Mr. Mitterbill

Quite good! Edward responded. The fact that they are also vegetable makes it for a lighter meal. He smiled at his own pun.

Edward listened as Jasper explained his purpose in bringing them into here. It actually was a brilliant idea. He hadn't considered that it would be possible to see from different perspectives in the different departments in this manner. He heard Vanessa introduce herself and waved to her from his spot. As he did, he continued to marvel at how easy it was to move in the absence of gravity. When she spoke about love, he thought about it and then asked a question of her in response. Vanessa. If love is, as you say, an essence, do you feel it has substance? The essence of something is that which when distilled to it's core is what remains. That was at least the way he would study love if he felt it an essence. As it was, Edward viewed it more as a force that was difficult to quantify. This would be similar to measuring the force of bouyancy in the air.

Vanessa smiles at Edward just before she begins to slowly rotate upside down.
"Well Mr.Lennox, if i must say, love is cosmic. It is neither this or that. In fact, it is the most significant element in the entire world. Unlike death, love is silent. Its has the ability to attach unnoticed for months, even years. When Death stalks you, you get warnings from the Universe; love is the silent killer. Don't judge me in haste as I say this Mr.Lennox. I am not a heartless woman. I believe love's sole purpose is to inspire "grouping" or togetherness, rather you want it or not. It is your duty to love, and your destiny to die. Love touches everyone and everything. Love is the core essence of the Earth, our natural mother."

Abby listened intently to the discussion that was happening upon her arrival. She nodded in agreement with some of the points made, but she did believe love was a scientific thing that could most certainly be studied under a magnifying spell. She cleared her throat to be heard before speaking and spoke in a voice no louder than a whisper. Being in the Anti-Gravity Chamber always made her act solemn.

"Mr.Lennox, that's a very interesting question. Did you know that there is a substance that circulates our veins at a certain time - when we're in love that is - that scientists have named as love ? If it comes from the heart or not - like the muggles are so keen to believe - is unknown so far, and how exactly it forms too, some would call it magic" she chuckled "But I know for a fact that love is a key ingredient in some spells and enchantments, like Mr. Mitterbill said - and you can most certainly distill and decompose those. So doesn't that prove that love is actually something more than a feeling, that it has indeed substance?" she smiled calmly as she spoke, slowly floating in a 360º angle that did not seem to bother her. Right now all her silver hair was fanned around her face.

"And Miss Vanessa..?" she did not catch her colleague's last name " Your arguments are indeed valid as well. Love is a lot of things and a force much too powerful for us mundane wizards to understand. Love is so complex ... much too complex for anyone in a life time to try an categorize it. All I can say is that I've seen love influence, control, give life and take it. Which leads me to believe love is one mystery greater than these one we see here in this chamber because it's limits are unknown for us." she gestured to the starts around them.

She thought about her recent discoveries, she was certain that love paid it's part in the spell that she had been studying. Maybe those things were the embodiment of a love stronger than time and space..curious... she scratched her chin getting completely absent from her surroundings, thinking about that particular option.

Jasper smiled at the Mortologist jumping right into it. Right you are, lady! Hit the ground running! Even before introducing herself to boot. Vanessa Mortaine. Back from retainer if memory served him well.

Parasitic. Jasper had a romantic streak that this description of love turned and made slippery and delicate. Parasites were things like fleas and viruses and the recent outbreak of Chizpurfles the Ministry had managed to survive (though Merlin knew how!). Nonetheless, he found himself not so willing to protest. Perhaps, it was not such an inaccurate description at all. Love did need a host to survive, even if not the originating host.

It was an interesting question Mr. Lennox posed to the ceiling-bound Miss Mortaine. And a logical one at that. If something could be detected as an essence, then perhaps it was once a physical substance. It was a good way of testing Miss Mortaine's idea, though Jasper had the feeling that Miss Mortaine had merely faced, head on, the struggles of finding the right words to describe something that for years had always been so indescribable.

Jasper listened as Miss Mortaine expanded upon the idea.


He liked the part where she was like: It is your duty to love, and your destiny to die.

And then what Miss Lewis added had Jasper practically spellbound. The solid, scientific voice of the group. He might have expected it to be indeed colder than it was as science was prone to that sort of thing in Jasper's mind. But it wasn't. At all. It was, instead, well ratio'd measures of informative and warm that he found her information-share to be inviting.

How interesting about the substance circulating through the human body. But Jasper wondered if it were merely some sort of hormonal release such as endorphins or something like that. Perhaps merely wasn't an altogether accurate term. It got him thinking and reconsidering his definitions of love.

"Alright, does anyone have anything else they'd like to add?" Yes? No? Maybe?
