Another greenhouse has magically been brought about for a number of reasons: to showcase some of the experimental work brought about by the botanists and oceanologists and to provide an area for the general public to meander around. This room casts many resemblances to the greenhouses but there are some striking differences too. First and foremost, the arrangement of plants is neater and the plants are less likely to swat at you if you get too close. Though, if you’re a fan of the more dangerous type, those plants are showcased right towards the back of the room. Previous Dept. Head Bryce Howell put up glass cages so while they may still reach towards you, there’s no way they can touch or harm you. Another larger glass area showcases some of the water plants that the oceanologists have been working with.
An earth smell lingers in the air and is the first thing to reach your noses when you enter the room. Various pathways lead off from the door and you may choose to wander along any of these if you wish. The room reminds you highly of a museum of plants, where there are wooden barriers that stop you from getting too close to some of the wonders of the botanical world. Some plants are touchable and even sprawl onto the edge of the paved walking area but others are sectioned well off. To add to this, little plaques can be found near each type of plant which gives you some explanation on the plant as well as the name of the botanist/oceanologist who worked with that plant.
Need to sit down? Sections of green sofas and chairs alike are dotted here and there, as well as a mixture of high and low tables. Bins can be found near each seating area and every guest is expected to clean up after themselves. This is a casual room and you won’t find employees working here but if you wish to, the Department Head won’t prohibit it.

Emmalee stood in the middle of the path, hands on her hips. Yes, everything seemed to be in order.
She still couldn't believe she'd volunteered the space to Harmony. She supposed it was a gesture of goodwill or cooperation or some such. But as she stood and looked at the areas where countless animals would be walking around her carefully cultivated greenhouse space, Emmalee would be lying if she wasn't feeling anxious.
Just so long as people picked up after their pets and nothing ate the plants then.. well.. it would be ok, right?

EMBER BRIGHTEN, REPORTING FOR DUTY! She smiiiiiled as she saw Emmalee.
SHE WAVED VERY ECSTATICALLY at her, Paolo quietly perched on her shoulder. The parrot was taking in his surroundings. Ember couldn't sense too much stress off of him, though, so she wasn't worried. The bird tilted his head at Emmalee as they approached, though.
Ember stroked his back to make sure he was CALM, PAOLO. CALM. "Hi there!" She said with EXCITEMENT. "Oh--Emmalee--this is PAOLO. Paolo, this is Emmalee." She grinned. Paolo eyed Emmalee...with his beaaaady little eyes, squawking lowly at her in greeting. Ember wanted to SHOVE him for being so RUDE. "No--Paolo--be NICE. NICE. You're to show people how NICE you are, dear."
Sigh.

Merlin's flitterbloom trimmings, Ember Brighten. Emmalee had seen the notice that Ember was taking charge of the commentary for the show but somehow, she'd hoped that there'd at least be other people around before she had to deal with the woman again.
Turning, her eyes fixated on the parrot. Blinking slowly, Emmalee looked from the bird to Ember and then back. "Nice to meet you, Paolo," she said, given the bird a bit of a side-eye. That thing better stay perched. The last thing she needed was a bird loose in the greenhouse. She didn't even want to think what would happen if she had to accio a bird.
"Are you all set for your role? Do you need a quick orientation to the space?" Because, as Emmalee tilted her wrist to look at her watch, she realized that Iwin would be in the atrium any minute with Snowflake. And who knew what he'd do if she kept him waiting... probably try to wander his way down here and sass someone from MLE.

Ember saw the way the redhead looked at her bird. "He's VERY nice and charming and likes pets." She said quickly, before Emmalee could get the wrong idea about Paolo. "Aren't you?" she asked, and Paolo just stared at Emmalee a bit.
He did not like her.
Ember wasn't too surprised by this. Paolo hardly liked anyone that wasn't....Ember. But BUT he wasn't try to peck her eyes out yet, so this was a VERY good sign. "He likes you." She lied. She didn't need Emmalee Quinn trying to lock up her bird or anything.
She stroked his back gently and listened to him coo veeeeeery softly-"Oh, yeah--please and thank you--" she said with a friendly smile. She was excited, but she was trying her best to reign in her excitement so that she could properly commentate and stuff. No need to SCARE PEOPLE here, eh? "Where's your CAT, Emmalee?" she asked curiously. She knew Emmalee had that beaaaautiful orange cat...
Ember could tell Paolo didn't like the sound of CAT at all...

Emmalee Quinn did not like the way that parrot was looking at her. Not one bit. The redhead had visions of little birdies claws tangled in her hair before the day was out. "Charming. Certainly." She wasn't buying it.
But as for the orientation... "This space is usually recreational for Ministry employees, but we've redone this section here," she gestured to the walking path surround by chairs, "to be the runway. And over there is a bit of a staging and chill-out area just for participants." Slipping her hands in her pockets, Emmalee considered the displays of various plants that surrounded them. "We charmed the flower beds and displays and what not so the pets shouldn't be able to get into anything but just.. keep an eye out just in case."
Emmalee checked her watch once more... Merlin. Looking up at Ember's question, she shook her head. "Charley doesn't play well with others, so I've opted to leave him at home." She did hold up a finger, though, lest Ember chime in with what a shame it was to not bring a pet to work on Bring Your Pet to Work day. "My boyfriend is dropping off his kitten in a few, though. Her temperament is much more... appropriate." Snowflake was.. practically hers too, no? It counted. Or, at least, Emmalee said it did and that would have to be enough for everyone else.

The greenhouse hangout was where the whole runway thing was being held, right? Ronnie hoped so as she entered the place, Oliver in her arms. As she walked, the gray cat perked up and his head turned this way and that, observing the plants all around. Reaching a paw out, he batted at a nearby plant and Ronnie laughed, patting his head. "No no, Oliver. I already told you on the way over that we weren't going to be touching anything!" She whispered to him. "Now you behave." She gave him a kiss on his head.
Seeing Emmalee, she smiled and gave her a wave. "Hello!" She greeted cheerfully before looking around. She really liked the set-up, especially the little runway. This whole idea was so cute! | |

Ember nodded, looking around at the area with wide eyes. "It looks really nice, Emmalee...I'll have to check it out when it's not a runway, too, because I bet it's a peaceful place to get paperwork done..." and Ember's job, while helpful and fun to her, required a good bit of report paperwork to be done. She kind of hated it but it was a necessary evil, wasn't it?
The brunette nodded at Emmalee. "Go ahead!" she beamed. "I can't wait to the little cutie!" she said brightly.
And SOMEONE WAS HERE. Ember approached the Enviro worker, and BEAMED. "HI HI!" she waved eagerly. "Are you here for the runway show? Who is this little guy?" she asked, holding out her hand for the kitty to sniff. Paolo, still perched on her shoulder, stiffened at the strange cat and chirped quietly near Ember's ear. "Paolo, don't be silly. This cat is perfectly fine."
SILLY PARROT.
"This is Paolo...my parrot....he's very well trained. He won't leave me shoulder." Unless attacked. Then he'd fly away, but she trusted all the owners would have a handle on their cats.....right?

"It is quite lovely in here. I don't think most people know that it's available for everyone." In some ways, Emmalee liked that. It meant it was near empty when she did decide to take a stroll. But on the other hand, the whole point was for it to be a showoff space for her Department and who knew what would happen to the extra greenhouse if it wasn't actually utilized. It could become offices or worse... a creature space.
The redhead nodded at Ronnie in greeting as she came in with her cat. "I'm just stepping out, but I'll be back." She turned to Ember, then. "You sure you've got everything under control here until I get back?" At least Ronnie was around, too, in case Ember got any crazy ideas about decorating or something. Emmalee had.. heard things.
"I'll only be a few minutes," she said, before turning and making her way from the greenhouse hangout. Time to go get Snowflake!

Seeing someone (Ember) approach her, Ronnie smiled at the friendly face. "Hello," She greeted, wondering if they had met before. She wasn't quite sure...but if they had, she had forgotten her name. Ronnie wasn't too good with names.
Giving a nod at her question, she smiled, petting Oliver. "Yes, we're here for the runway. And this is Oliver. You can pet him if you'd like." She said, beaming. Oliver loved attention from other people, he had especially liked it at Hogwarts. Ronnie watched as Oliver gave her hand a sniff before licking it and rubbing his head against it. She chuckled. "I think he likes you!" She said, her eyes moving to look at the parrot on her shoulder. Paolo. D'awww. "That's a cute name," Ronnie commented. And it was a beautiful bird, too. She'd never quite met anyone who had a parrot.
Turning back to Emmalee, she gave a nod. "Alright, see you in a bit then!" She called as Emmalee left. | |

Emmalee had dropped Snowflake's carrier and bag in her office and pocketed a few kitty treats before heading back into the greenhouse, the not a kitten, not yet a cat puffy grey ball snuggled up in her arms. Snowflake, for her part, was looking around quite curiously, but only squirming just a bit.
Looking around, Emmalee was surprised to see that it was still only Ronnie and Ember. Hm. Well, there was still time before the show was supposed to start, but Em was beginning to wonder if people were going to come. "Well, things look mostly in order," she said, taking a seat in one of the chairs as Snowflake sat in her lap and pawed at her chest. The woman absently stroked the cat's fur as she looked to the two women, and was ready to scoop Snow up should the other cat spook her.
But so far, so good.

Hearing footsteps, Ronnie turned to see Emmalee had returned. The red head smiled, glad everything was in order. "Good," she replied, stroking Oliver. She then took a glance at her watch and frowned, glancing towards the door. "Do you know if anyone else is coming?" She asked, turning her attention back to Emmalee.
Meanwhile, Oliver was still studying the place. All the plants and the two other people in the room were quite interesting to him, especially the new cat that had shown up in the one lady's arms. He craned his neck, trying tow wriggle out of Ronnie's grip to get a closer look. | |

Waving goodbye to Emmalee, Ember turned her focus to this....what was her name? It was on the TIP of Ember's tongue! AH. She did smile as she reached out to pet the kitty..."Hi Oliver...little cutie..." she said sweetly, in a soothing voice. She felt Paolo tense up as they got SO close to the cat, his beak staying firmly shut and NOT PEEPING. NOT A SOUND FROM THE BIRD.
Paolo did look at the woman curiously, though, and he WANTED her to pet him...but that cat. HE WAS NOT FEELING THE CAT AT ALL. "You can pet Paolo--he doesn't bite--" Ember smiled. That was pretty much a lie. Paolo DID bite, but they'd had a talk, and he wasn't going to bite anyone TODAY. Least of all, not any MEN. Did she tell Dmitry to stop by?!?! She thought she had! He HAD to bring one of his little babies--HE HAD TO.
And...Emmalee was BACK! Ember SQUEALED at the sight of the puffy little KITTY! "Oh EM--she is GORGEOUS!" she cried, and she bounced over to the redhead to pet the cat. SHE WAS SO SWEET! She hoped the cat didn't lunge for Paolo, though, who had hopped atop Ember's head to STAY AWAY from all these kitties. He chirped liiiightly and eyed the grey puffball...
"Well..other people should trickle in...maybe I could go make an announcement!" she said EXCITEDLY.

Ronnie said as she looked at Paolo with interest. She reached out and stroked his head and smiled. He was a really sweet parrot, and she now wished she had her own. While she was petting him, Oliver was having the time of his life as he affectionately nuzzled his face into the woman's hand. Although, he suddenly noticed the parrot through her fingers and he rose his head, peering at him curiously. Ronnie glanced at him and smiled. "He won't hurt him, I promise. He's just curious is all. I don't think he's ever seen a parrot." She giggled as Oliver continued to study the parrot before him. "What's your name, by the way? I don't believe we've officially met." She added, turning her attention back to her. She had seen her around the Ministry, but she didn't think they'd ever really met.
When she suggested an announcemnet, Ronnie looked to Emmalee and raised her eyebrows. "That doesn't sound like a bad idea." She commented with a small nod. | |

Snowflake squiiiirmed in Emmalee's arms at the sudden attention, nuzzling against Ember's hand as she was pet. And that bird... well, that was a curious thing and the kitty stretched up against Emmalee's chest and put her paws on her shoulder, trying to get a better look at the thing.
"This is Snowflake," Em said, twisting a bit to keep the cat from completely climbing up on her shoulders. "It's her first trip out of the house." Emmalee had noticeably softened from her earlier brusqueness as she stroked Snowflake's fur.
"Yes, I think an announcement would be in order," she said, nodding a bit. She looked over to Ronnie as Snowflake next took note of Oliver and was not at all sure what to make of the other cat.
