| Middle Floors The central floors of the castle contain several classrooms, the headmaster's office, and numerous nooks and crannies to explore. Be careful around the portraits, they are not known to be the best at keeping gossip to a minimum. |

| | Portraits The walls in the first-floor corridor are covered in tapestries and, hung over them, are portraits of numerous witches and wizards. Whether you are trying to get to class or are just browsing around, the portraits here will try to start up a conversation with you. If you manage to get on their good side, they'll be willing to reveal secret passageways, share the latest school gossip, and more.
If you have time to spare, definitely go on a brief tangent from whatever it is you are doing. Google Stump is your man to go to if you're looking for answers about the mysteries of the castle; Beaumont Marjoribanks can tell you everything there is to know about gillyweed; and Elizabeth Burke ... well, it would be best to just avoid her for reasons that will be obvious should you strike up a discussion with her about magical blood status. There are other portraits here as well, each with their own unique personalities, and figures from other portraits happen to invade their frames from time to time. OOC: Please do not role-play for the Portraits.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Xerxes Cadwallader Hufflepuff First Year Minister's Office | As Xerxes made his way up the Marble Staircase, he came upon the first floor. As he crested the top stair, he saw a bunch of Portraits hanging along the wall. He walked up to the first one on his left and asked, "Excuse me. I'm terrible sorry to interrupt, but do you think you could help me find the Charms Classroom? It's my first day and I'm terribly lost. Any assistance you could give to me would be greatly appreciated."
He smiled brightly and waited for the Portrait to respond..... |

He smiled brightly and waited for the Portrait to respond..... Oh...? Oh! This student was...talking to.......him...?
The shy Google Stump had ducked below his frame; but now he peered over it as the young boy spoke. "Th-The...Charms classroom?" he repeated in his quiet voice, rising a little more so his head and shoulders were fully visible within his portrait frame. "Oh- Oh, why, yes, I- I can help." He knew so many things about the castle, he did! And the location of the Charms classroom was one of them! It was not a mystery, of course, that was true, but still he knew it. "If you t-take the stairs up to the third floor, there you will find the classroom." |

"If you t-take the stairs up to the third floor, there you will find the classroom." Xerxes saw a frightened looking older man enter the portrait and peek out from the behind their frame. The speaker was clearly nervous, even to the point of stuttering their words a little. But at last they managed to get out the information Xerxes was seeking.
“The third floor, you say. Interesting. I shall proceed up to that floor. I truly appreciate your assistance kind sir.” , Xerxes replied to the Portrait. “If I should ever need your help again, I’ll know where to find you. And if there is any way for me to repay your kindness in turn, please do not hesitate call upon me.” Xerxes turned and walked toward the Moving Staircase, heading up to the third floor, where he would hopefully be able to finally find the Charm’s Classroom. |
