As you open your eyes from your portkey journey, you will find that you have somehow been transported to the top of a sketchy-looking skyscraper, albeit one that (thankfully) has a flat roof. Upon first glance, the place not might look like much. Don't be too skeptical, however, as this abandoned rooftop has got it where it counts!

Take some time to walk around the square rooftop and check out the stunning view. You've arrived just in time to get a glance of the city before the sun sets and your date arrives. Feel free to wander through the rooftop garden until you find the beautiful little table set for two. The menu is magical, literally and figuratively, as all you have to do is look down into your plate and order whatever comes to mind. The chefs on the topmost floor of the building (just under you, of course) are top-notch. Don't forget about dessert and dinner wine as well, as they will be highly offended if you don't at least try all five courses available!

When you've stuffed yourself to the brim, retreat to the dark and cozy corners of the garden where other couples sit in lightly swaying hammocks or on cutesy little tree swings. Fairies flit from (nice smelling) citronella candles and the sound of a light harp seems to be coming from a gentle brook flowing throughout the garden. Take your time and enjoy the date, just don't walk too close to the edge of the building!

Lexi Carlton smoothed down her skirt as she stepped toward the portkey. She was nervous. As Gryffindor as she was, she was nervous. She hadn't really shown much interest in a man since she'd lost touch with Sage. As quiet and awkward as that man had been, she'd had feelings for him, and a lot of them. It'd taken her quite a while to realize he wasn't coming around again, and she'd either need to start dating again or become an old maid.

For a while, she'd actually entertained the idea of being an old maid.

...but no. Her sister had pushed her and pushed her until Lexi had finally agreed to this matchmaking service. She grabbed a hold of the portkey before she could change her mind then landed on the rooftop of an abandoned building. An abandoned building?! What sort of matchmaking service chooses this place for a date?! Lexi was just about to find the nearest exit, which would be via apparation, when she decided there had to be much more to this than...well, what she saw.

So she decided to walk around a bit and see if she could find something interesting. Namely, her date.

Cairán couldn't believe his best friend had done this too him. Honestly! Couldn't he just keep his nose out and let him search for a woman on his own terms? You'd think at thirty-three the other Scottish man would have stopped interfering by now... but apparently that wasn't Dash's style. Great. He smirked slightly as he thought about putting Dash's details in for the service. He needed to pay his friend back for the kind thought after all.

Rolling his eyes, and putting Dash for from his thoughts, Cai placed his hand on the portkey (finally) and gritted his teeth against the urge to be sick. God, he hated travelling by portkey. He'd rather disapparate a thousand times in one day - that do it. Sigh. Guess there wasn't anything about it he could do this time though. He wouldn't even complain - afterall, it wasn't like it would be a surprise date if they knew where to apparate to.

Sighing as he felt his feet finally land on something hard, he opened his eyes and looked around. His nose turned up slightly and he raised a single eyebrow. What the--? Scowling deeply, Cairán took a turn around the roof, long even strides leading him quickly to the other side of the shabby looking ground where he noticed that it wasn't quite as dismal as he had first noticed. This, was at least something better than a dirty old rooftop.

Shaking away the thoughts he took off to look around and to see if he could find anyone else here.

Lexi began her walk around the rooftop, thinking how this was much less frightening to her, a witch, than it would be to a Muggle. As a matter of fact, she wasn't frightened at all. She'd flown a million and one times and apparated far more. To her, this was just as simple as being in a restaurant. Only, there were considerably less people. As a matter of fact, she was starting to think she was the only one here.

Her date didn't stand her up, did he?! The nerve!

Just when she was starting to think that might be possible, she turned around and saw him. Her date. Or, she assumed he was her date. He was the only other person up here besides her. What if he was just up here for a nighttime stroll? She'd look silly if she just assumed he was here for her. At least he was a looker, too! Lexi was a nice person and wouldn't have been rude to a less than attractive person, but it helped so much that this man looked good.

"Hello," she said, stepping forward. She'd let him take the next step. That is, figuring out if they were each other's date.

Cairán couldn't help but be impressed with the facade that the rooftop made before you genuinely went to search for the proper location. After all, this was something to do with a matchmaker - there had to be something else up there except for an abandoned roof and garbage... right?

Right.

And just as he was silently looking over the setting and the table that was set for two. As there was nothing else around (tables for other couples) he figured that whoever he came across on his wandering had to be his apparent date from the woman behind this stupid idea. He was seriously going to kill his best friend for this.

Speaking of finding his date, he heard a females voice and he looked up at her. His eyes and mouth tilted into a soft smirk as he let himself look her over. She was gorgeous - which was an instant bonus. "Good evening." He said to her, as he moved away from the decking and their table towards her. "My name is Cairán Black, and I believe... that I am your date for this evening." He bowed slightly from the waist as he gave her a charming smile.

As she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, a million and one thoughts began running through Lexi's mind. This man couldn't actually be her date. Could he? She'd convinced herself that this whole idea of a dating using a matchmaking service was just stupid. She'd also imagined her date to be this older, balding man who'd never had a date in his life. This was certainly no older, balding man, and she couldn't imagine he'd never had a date in his life. He was actually...well, hot.

The thought crossed her mind that he was really just a resident or employee of the building they were standing on and was about to start laughing uncontrollably when he found out what she was up here for. At that thought, her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Then he spoke, actually taking her for surprise when he revealed who he was. "You're my date," she said, still not believing that she actually got to spend the evening with someone who still had all his hair and had probably had the same amount of dates she'd had.

"Well, ...I was, sort of expecting someone else," she said. "I mean, not a different date, no. It's just, this whole matchmaking service normally isn't my thing, and I'd just imagined the worse." She laughed a slightly nervous laugh then stepped forward. "I'm Alexia Carlton, but you can call me Lexi."
