Magic Carpet Ride Date: Archer Burton and Imogene Nepman

The sun is fierce throughout the day in Istanbul, and once it sets, the residual heat takes a while to dissipate, making the roof top dining room of Café Byzantine an ideal spot to catch a breeze. Gauzy curtains and clean white canopies ensconce the diners without blocking out the warm night air. Flickering lamplight falls on polished brass, blood red cushions, and cool white linens, harkening the diner back to antiquity without effort.

The menu is traditionally Turkish, a wonderful melding of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes prepared by a chef that learned to cook at her mother’s knee. The air is rich with exotic spices, and water and ayran are served chilled right on the table. The menu is extensive, from simple soups and spreads served with sliced pita bread to elaborate shwarma and kebab dishes. Very few leave the café still hungry; in fact, the chef would take it as an insult if diners didn't enjoy several courses.

Low walls surround the rooftop café, and the diners almost feel as if they are dining on a cloud, albeit a warm, cumin-scented one. Propped against one wall is a pile of ragged carpets that almost seem to twitch in the wavering lamplight. Upon closer inspection… the antique rugs are twitching, eagerly awaiting their passengers before soaring off into the night sky. Magic carpets are illegal in the United Kingdom, but they are very common sights in this part of the world. Once dinner is finished, diners are encouraged to work up an appetite for dessert by taking a short ride over the ancient and beautiful parts of this lovely city.

Archer wanted to dress in a suit, to look his best. But it was just too hot. Instead, he opted for suit pants, and a nice long sleeved white shirt, which he wore with the sleeves turned up. It was cool, the nice thin cotton shirt.

He had on a pair of black thongs, as he didn't want his feet to swelter in his good shoes. He decided he would wait to see what his date was wearing on her feet as to whether he would quickly whip his wand out and change them.

As he stood waiting at Café Byzantine, looking around for a woman who might be his blind date, he popped out his pocket watch to check the time.

Hey Jes!

Imogine appeared in a flowy skye blue dress, she thought it would be the perfect thing for a magic carpet date because she'd look like Princess Jasmine! Imogine diddn't wear dresses that often, but she had a few stored away at the back of her closet for special occasions, and disguises.
On her feet she wore gold ballet flats which she borrowed from a friend.

She looked searched around the cafe for a man standing by himself, possible back to the wall, resding the prophet, glancing at his watch. Ah, found him!

"Archer?" Imogine asked, and smiled sweetly.

Archer was looking around, trying not to get anxious. He wasn't usually the anxious type, but he had never done anything like this. But, it was good to back with his family, seeing his brother again. He started thinking about his family, his niece and nephew, and the ones on the way, when he heard his name. It sounded so nice.

He looked up and saw a lovely looking woman. His mouth silently said "Wow" as he looked her up and down. "Imogine, you look lovely" he said, scooping her hand up and kissing it.

"Th-thank you" Imogine replied as she stared into his eyes.
"This must be the fancyist place in Istanbul, Perhaps we should go grab a carpert before they're all taken" Imogine suggested. "One of my friends said when she rode on a magic carpet , the food popped up on her carpet during the ride" she chatted.

Archer looked around to take in the scenery, and the Cafe. It definitely was something incredible, he thought. He looked back at Imogine and smiled with his mouth closed. He was thinking what to say. He was pretty hungry, so hopefully the food would appear on the carpet. How incredible.

He finally decided that her idea was best. The food might take a while to prepare, so instead of just waiting on the chairs in the cafe they could wait on a magic carpet. He nodded, and said "That sounds like a great idea," and held out his arm. Wasn't this the romantic thing to do? He wasn't sure... if she didn't accept his arm then obviously it wasn't the romantic gesture he should have done. He was quite excited for the magic carpet ride, however.

Imogine smiled when Archer told her she had a good idea. And he was being so romantic, holding out his arm for her! So, should she take his arm, or should she not? If she took it, he might think she was too into him but if she diddn't take it, he might think she diddn't like him. She liked him, so she took his arm.

As they walked past the restaraunt, Imogine could smell the food cooking, it made her even hungrier.
So, the carpets were in this pile against the wall. "Lets not take a black one so it doesn't turn out to be a Lethifold" Imogine suggested, she was way too cautious sometimes. She pulled out the lightest looking one. "How bout this one?"

That smell was intoxicating. Archer took a subtle breath in, until he felt dizzy, then let it go. He loved the smell of spices in cooking. Maybe when he got back to his Brother's house he could start using spices again. Travelling the world didn't offer much space to cook in.

He watched as she pulled a nice looking carpet out, and tried to help her. Feeling the beating sun against his skin, he said "Oh good choice. I wouldn't like to sit on a hot black carpet either," he said. Holding his hand out, indicating she could get on, he said "Ladies first," with his bright smile on his face. "You don't get air-sick, do you?"

Imogine giggled as he figited while trying to help her with the mat. "Ya, it would get really sticky and hot" Imogine retorted. Ladies first?? That was very nice of him to think of letting a lady sit down first. She sat down in the front.

"No I don't get air sick, I actually prefer to travel by air because Im alergic to flue powder" she replied with a smile."So how do we start it?" she asked, refurring to the carpet. "do we just sit on it and tell it to go up, like with a broom?"

After Archer saw that she was comfortable, he climbed on and sat down next to her.

"Oh, allergic to Flu powder? That mustn't have been fun discovering that," he said. Not at all! "My brother is allergic to peanuts. That definitely wasn't fun," he said.

He just went to open his mouth when he felt a soft vibration underneath him. "I guess it's starting..." he said, wondering how fast thy went. "Ready?" he asked his date, flashing her a smile.
