SSRPG Feedback and Suggestions

SSRPG Feedback & Suggestions
As the title of this thread alludes to, this is the primary place where you can leave your feedback and suggestions regarding the SSRPG. If an idea comes to fruition (whenever it happens) that you think should be brought to the Wizarding World Admins' attention and consideration, then this thread is for you!

The following are areas that you can comment on:
  • Threads for the OOC forum
  • Layout of the SSRPGs
  • Plot ideas
  • Event ideas
  • Expansion opportunities
  • Anything else!
Please note that you are kindly providing feedback and are suggesting (you are proposing an idea or alternative, not demanding something). There are no guarantees that what you propose will happen (sometimes things take time to develop thoroughly or there may not be a current need) -- but it can be guaranteed with 100% confidence that your voice will be heard and what you posted will be considered.

If you wish to piggyback of off something someone else said, feel free to do so. If you would prefer PMing the Wizarding World Admins rather than posting in this thread, that is more than welcome -- our inboxes have plenty of space for you!

Hello, thank you for this thread!

May I bring back a suggestion (or request, rather) I already made a while back about the layout of the Ministry?

Could we please have descriptions for the "levels" forums? Like there are in the school and DA? So that when you're here, say, under "Upper Levels" it says something like "The Offices of the Minister of Magic, the Department of Law Enforcement and the Department of Magical Accidents & Catastrophes can be found here"? That would be amazing, especially for people who are newly sorted in the Ministry and don't know which levels their department is on (and because I also sometimes forget which departments are where xD).

That would be really helpful imo, thank you.

sweetpinkpixie: as of November 2018 this suggestion was implemented ^_^

I would love to see more site wide plots, honestly! I see that this time around there was bleed over from the school plot into the Ministry and I love that, honestly. It sometimes kind of stinks when a REALLY good plot in the school just kind of ends and there is no wrap up. I know we have done a fair bit of this in the past and I think some here recently, and I guess what I am saying is I just LOVE it and would like to see more of it! :loved:

And I think a fun event for Diagon Alley would be something like an arts festival. Live music in the alley, local artists come and peddle their things, magical acting troupes perform, the possibilities are endless really. And the fun piece to that is that anytime you have a large group in the alley that means pick pockets and nefarious types have an opportunity to get up to no good. FUN FOR ALL!

Also, I would love to see some in character interviews from the Daily Prophet... or like more RP opportunity with them, period. A big scary thing happens at Hogwarts? BOOM THERE IS A JOURNALIST getting information a la Rita Skeeter.

Just some random thoughts, really. :whaa:

Hello!

May I offer a suggestion for professors when they're hosting lessons particularly to not use invisibility mode ? It's helpful to know if a professor is online and replying so you know if you have time to make a post or not in a lesson or even if they're online and going to close it soon, as opposed to taking a chance and posting only to find it blocked as it was closed the same moment you clicked to post.

Just a thought :whaa:

Thank you for taking the time to make the suggestion, however we will not be requiring staff into one mode of visibility or the other. That is entirely there choice. Lessons are very structured. The professors give a timeframe in which you may post before they move the lesson forward. If you’d like to know if you’re taking a chance, you may return to the last post the professor has made to see the time in which they plan to move/end the lesson. You may then decide if there is still time or if you’ve run out of time and take the chance then. Honestly, it’s not that much about chance taking. The times are all posted to give everyone an idea of how long they’ve got to post. As that’s already the case, you can assume the professor will move when they say they will and if RL happens and they don’t, you can take the chance.

Thanks again for the suggestion ^_^

So, I’ve been re-reading the Percy Jackson books recently and I really like the idea of a prophecy and how it relates to the story and the characters in a way that isn’t always obvious until the end of the year. With there being prophecies in the HP universe, I think it would be cool for a plot to be based around one again. I like that they can be about several people at once and that it’s usually worded in a way that creates several options and creates lots of different possibilities.

I know that it would be hard in the sense that it would be difficult for the plot to be just about one person as prophecies usually are (I think?) but I’m sure there are ways around it. One way I think could possibly be used it through the use of NPC accounts. Maybe the prophecy is about an NPC and how other characters interact with said NPC dictates how the story pans out. Certain situations arise during the year (as they usually do in lessons) that give the students the option to go forward or retreat and the interactions with other and the group around the NPC can influence them.

I think that it’s a cool way to introduce both short term and long-term plot points that can unfold over time too. Maybe the prophecy is made years before and it unwinds slowly throughout the years or it unfolds throughout the year. I feel like there are a lot of options with this. Maybe it’s just about the Hogwarts in general and predicts its destruction.

I hope you find it interesting and not a waste of your time reading anyway  and even if it’s not viable, there are some ideas there that you could work with.
