| Lower Floors From the entrance hall down to the depths of the dungeons, there is much to explore in the lower floors of this historic castle. Don't mind the rats you may stumble upon the further down you go, their minding their business like anyone else. |

| | Stone Wall The further you venture into the dungeons, the closer you get to reaching the entrance to where the Slytherins reside. For many years, however, not a single soul who wasn't a member of the green and silver house has gained entrance into their sanctuary. This primarily is in part due to the maze of corridors that are designed to confuse and disjoint you. This is not the most ideal place to get lost, so tread with caution.
Regardless of the endless corridors that make up this part of the dungeons, any member of Salazar Slytherin's house would be able to navigate the area with ease. Getting to the common room is just as easy as well, even with all of the stone walls looking identical. Once you've reached the thirteenth wall, simply whisper the correct password (don't forget that it changes every fortnight!) to make a brief passage appear and reveal your green-tinged home. If you forget, you can count on being stranded in the damp and humid corridor until someone lets you in.

| For Kath/Calliope not throwing away my shot | Slytherpuff | roll for initiative | woof you ❤ Elena was definitely not trying to sneak in to the Slytherin common room. She just merely wanted to know where her brother's common room was. In case she needed to sneak in at some point in the future. She thought it couldn't be that hard to get to. She knew it was in the dungeons, but that was really the extent of her knowledge. She had sort of thought that it would be easy to find. That all she would need to do was follow the corridor until she came upon an obvious common room entrance. Or perhaps that she could follow another Slytherin until they led her right to the entrance of their common room. Except none of it was going well for her. As soon as she had tried to follow someone down a corridor she had lost sight of them among the twists and turns and... it almost seemed like the walls around her were shifting and changing like a maze to confuse her. After just a few moments she was hopelessly lost, equally as unsure as to how to get closer to the Slytherin common room entrance or back where she started. Elena sighed and slid her back down the wall, sitting herself down on the floor to take a rest until she was ready to resume her journey once more. |

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Calliope rounded the corner, still dripping from the rain, her boots leaving a trail of muddy prints across the stone floor. Her uniform was in absolute ruin - soaked through, splattered with dirt, and clinging to her skin in a way that was equal parts uncomfortable and impressive. Probably would have been a good idea to Impervius more than just her goggles but then she wouldn't have all this wear and tear to brag about. It had been one of those brutal training days where the pitch was more swamp than field, but honestly? She couldn’t be bothered. She’d take a good, filthy practice over a dry, boring one any day. No, she would not be taking questions regarding her stance on the enchanted snowstorm at this time.
All she wanted now was a long shower, clean clothes (preferably fluffy and fuzzy ones if the house elves had managed to complete her laundry by now), and about an hour in the music room to get her percussion piece sorted before having a late lunch. Simple. Efficient. Foolproof.
And then she nearly tripped over the small Gryffindor sitting on the floor.
Calliope came to a slow stop, rainwater still dripping from her sleeves as she took in the scene. The girl - Elena something or other, if her memory held its merit - was definitely not where she was supposed to be. And judging by the absolutely tragic look on her face, she knew it. Calliope arched a brow, arms crossing (which only smeared more mud onto her already-messy jersey), and leaned a shoulder against the wall, watching Elena. "Bold choice. I personally prefer beds, but hey, you do you."

Calliope arched a brow, arms crossing (which only smeared more mud onto her already-messy jersey), and leaned a shoulder against the wall, watching Elena. "Bold choice. I personally prefer beds, but hey, you do you." Elena knew somebody was approaching because she could hear the sound of footsteps. At first, she hadn't been certain where they were coming from. But as they got closer, she was able to figure out that they were headed toward her. She was hopeful that it would be somebody who knew their way around, and could help her find her way out of here. Somebody like a prefect or something would be her best bet. But probably any Slytherin would probably be able to help her.
As it turned out the footsteps belonged to somebody she knew. Not well, but she was familiar with Calliope from their pre-Hogwarts days. She did know that she was a Slytherin, so it wasn't entirely surprising to see her there. What was surprising was her appearance. Elena blinked as she took in the state of her robes. "What happened to you?" She blurted out before she could think it through. That was perhaps not the nicest way to phrase her question. But she was curious. "I'm not sleeping," she said in response to Calliope. She also preferred beds for sleeping. But just sitting? That could happen anywhere really. A chair, a couch. And yes, often a floor. She didn't think it was all that strange really. |

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Calliope tilted her chin up, looking thoroughly pleased with herself despite the state of absolute ruin she was in. Actually, because of it and the bluntness of her yearmate simply a door with which she could easily strut through. "What happened to me?" she repeated, grinning like she’d been personally knighted for her suffering - take note, Sir Cadogan. "Just the usual. Murdered by the weather, reborn in the mud, put through absolute hell at practice, and came out the other side a champion." She gestured down at her soaked, dirt-streaked uniform like it was a Victoria or George Cross. "This? This is the mark of a true athlete. Blood, sweat, tears... and ooookaaaaaaay, mostly rainwater... but the point stands. I earned every single drop of this filth." She smirked, flipping a strand of wet hair over her shoulder with a dramatic FWPI. "I mean... if you’re not walking off the pitch looking like you were in a fight with the elements, did you even train?"
Rhetorical question, obviously. Calliope already knew the answer and really did not need validation in her correctness.
Side stepping the puddle that had formed at her feet, the snakette finally turned her full attention back to Elena, eyebrow quirking. "So....what then? Got bored of the Gryffindor tower already? Was it the décor? Wait, no—I’ve got it. The stairs! They actually let you leave the common room for once, and you took your chance before they changed their mind."
Calliope didn't actually think Gryffindor Tower was that bad. Sure, it was loud, a little gaudy, and full of people who thought "reckless" and "brave" were synonyms - absolutely no black kettles or cauldrons over here - but it wasn't some tragic wasteland of boredom. She had plenty of respect for their energy, even if she'd rather never admit to it. But seeing Elena just sitting there in the middle of the dungeon floor like some lost kneazle? That was weird. It was like spotting a goldfish on dry land - wrong, out of place, concerning. So, obviously, the only reasonable response was to poke at her a little. Because sitting there all sad and pathetic, looking like she’d been forsaken by the universe itself, was weird.

| not throwing away my shot | Slytherpuff | roll for initiative | woof you ❤ Elena was trying her very best to follow what Calliope was talking about. Murdered by weather? Reborn in mud? Her confusion likely showed on her face for a few moments, until the meaning of the other girl's words dawned on her. "You're on the quidditch team?" She asked. Athlete, practice, pitch. She was connecting the dots. And now that she thought about it, it did make sense. Elena hadn't paid much attention to other teams quidditch teams, there wasn't much reason to. But she had stopped by tryouts, and now that she thought about it she did remember seeing Calliope there. Elena hadn't done much playing herself, but she did have a passing interest in the sport. "That's cool. Do you like it? I mean, seems like you do." Elena did not bother answering her question. It seemed to her like it was possible to have a good practice without being covered in mud. Like, what if you practiced in good weather? But she didn't think Calliope would necessarily appreciate if she said that, so she kept it to herself. "No." Elena frowned. She didn't appreciate the other girl making fun of Gryffindor tower. She hadn't been there all that long yet and didn't have the sort of unwavering loyalty that might be formed over the years, but she still didn't think there was a reason to be rude. "I was just exploring. And wanted to see what it was like in the dungeons, since my brother is a Slytherin and all." She decided not to mention that she was looking for the entrance to the common room, not sure if Calliope would be a collaborator or an antagonist. "But it's very confusing down here and I got lost. So I decided to take a break." |
