| Lower Floors From the entrance hall down to the depths of the dungeons, there is much to explore in the lower floors of this historic castle. Don't mind the rats you may stumble upon the further down you go, their minding their business like anyone else. |

| | Fruit Bowl Out of all of the paintings hanging on the walls of the basement corridor, the one depicting a silver fruit bowl is an easy favourite for some of those here at Hogwarts. While many may think that there is nothing special about this particular painting, those who are well-informed about its purpose know what lies beyond. Past this painting is where all of the food you stuff in your mouth three or more times a day is made.
If you're in the need of second breakfast, elevenses, or a mid-afternoon snack, then this is the place to be. If you are someone who knows this particular castle secret, you know those bananas and grapes aren't there just to make your mouth water and your stomach rumble. Simply reach out your hand and tickle the delicious-looking pear in the corner. After it has a squirming fit and laughs, it will transform into a green door-knob and grant you access to the grand Hogwarts kitchen where anything you desire can be whipped up in no time at all.

| For Whitterz <3 YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Emma was determined to convince her new young friend on the benefits of trying out for quidditch. Although she wasn't sure how much convincing it would take (hopefully not much), Emma knew from growing up with two brothers that the way to win anyone over was with food. So without a doubt in her mind about it, the sixth year headed off to the kitchens to win the fourth year transfer over. And in the process she would also educate the girl how to access the kitchens so it was really a double win.
She looked behind her to see if the young hufflepuff was coming along yet, deciding she would wait a little longer before tickling the fruit.

| Jess <3 ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Aurora had to admit that she was a little curious about why Emma wanted to meet up with her. Not that she wasn't happy to meet up with her new friend. It was more that she had the feeling that there was a specific reason why Emma wanted to meet up with her.
Intrigued, she made her way over to where the fruit bowl was. She gave Emma a smile. "Hey!" Yep, Emma was determined. Something was definitely up. |

Intrigued, she made her way over to where the fruit bowl was. She gave Emma a smile. "Hey!" Yep, Emma was determined. Something was definitely up. It didn't take her new friend long to catch up to her and find the meeting place. For one it wasn't far from their common room which made it ideal. It was also usually relatively quiet in the kitchens - other than the house elves which Emma had learned over the last five years that if you were nice to them, they often found a way to sneak you extra food or comfort foods when you weren't feeling good. She never really understood how people could be cruel to the elves, but unfortunately throughout her fifteen years of life, she'd learn sometimes the world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
Enough of that though, as she tried to bring the sunshine wherever she went, it was all she could do. "Hey. I figured this would be a good opportunity to show you how to access the kitchens. It's kind of cutesy actually, you just find this pear portrait and tickle it." She launch into her full pro and con list she'd been working on regarding quidditch once they were in the kitchen with some warm cocoa in front of them. Mostly pros of course. If she'd put this much effort into her lessons and homework as she did quidditch, she'd have gotten all Outstanding marks.

This was information that she was VERY interested in. She did enjoy her food, and it would come in handy whenever she wanted snacks.
Tickling a pear WAS rather cutesy, Emma was right about that. ”Oh cool! That will come in handy for study sessions.” Because she could reward herself with food. ”Are there any other secrets you can show me some time?” She was curious. But she also had a feeling that this wasn’t the only reason why Emma wanted to meet with her. |

But she also had a feeling that this wasn’t the only reason why Emma wanted to meet with her. Would Aurora really be a Hufflepuff if she didn't enjoy her food? Emma was convinced that was a trait necessary for any Hufflepuff - outside the usual loyalty and kindness and fairness - a hearty appetite. Or was that part of just growing pains of being an adolescent? Maybe both. "Mmm, nothing like a study session with some comfort snacks made by our resident elves. Of course ya gotta get to know them first," she grinned. Which she supposed was another motive to meeting here. "And of course comfort food after losing a quidditch match was necessary too. Really just all the comfort foods." While she'd caught a few snitches in her limited days as quidditch player, she'd narrowly missed some as well, including sustaining some injuries as well, so all the foods were necessary after quidditch matches. Celebratory foods and comfort. "How ya adjusting to things here compared to things at ..." her eyebrows creased together in contemplation, before recalling, "Beauxbatons."

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Nod. Aurora couldn't agree more. She was looking forward to meeting the house elves and becoming friends with them. "I might end up practically living here." Obviously she was exaggerating, but still she felt like this would become one of the places that she frequented. She nodded again at the mention of quidditch. "I know exactly what you mean by that. I was on the Beauxbatons team last term and we definitely had our share of wins and loses." Of course she took all the loses in stride, but comfort food was still nice during those times.
At Emma's question she smiled. "It's taking some adjusting, but it's not been too bad at all." Aurora was just going with the flow. "And it helps that I already knew some people before coming here. And I'm also making a bunch of friends." Everyone was so friendly here. She was happy even if she missed her sisters. |
