Default Apparition Test Centre

APPARITION TEST CENTRE
This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to the study and practice of Apparition, the art of magical teleportation. The main classroom is designed with a focus on both instruction and hands-on practice. It features enchanted mirrors and visualization aids to help students and trainees master the nuances of Apparition. The room is spacious, with ample space for several hoops to be scattered about on the floor, and is equipped with cushioning charms to ensure a soft landing during practice sessions.

The space is furnished with magical teaching aids, including step-by-step guides, instructional scrolls, and interactive displays to support learning. A section of the room is also dedicated to relaxation and focus, featuring calming magical artefacts to help students centre their concentration before and after practice.

In addition to the main classroom, there is a side room specifically designated for the written examination. This area is meticulously designed to assess theoretical knowledge and understanding of Apparition. It is equipped with enchanted desks and parchment that automatically adjust for comfort and clarity. The room is enhanced with soundproofing spells to ensure a distraction-free environment in addition to the most stringent Anti-Cheating Spells.

OOC: All Ministries of Magic require that all wizards and witches complete an Apparition course before testing. At the British Ministry, the course is offered over 4 weeks at the following times in the Apparition Classroom:
  • Mondays and Wednesdays @ 9 A.M. - 11 A.M.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M.
Additionally, the course is offered to Hogwarts students over 12 weeks from late-January through mid-April on Saturdays @ 10 A.M. - 11 A.M.

The examinations required for an Apparition licence occur in this area as well when course lessons are not in session. An appointment for testing must be scheduled in advance. Please review the Apparition Guidelines for more information on what your character must do to be issued an Apparition licence at the Ministry.

Nerves were a thing. But Dionysus wasn't going to let them affect him today. He thought he did well on the written portion, some questions had him re-considering, but that was likely one of the many Ravenclaw traits in him. To think is to measure, and beyond measure is every wit's treasure. Something like that.

Anyway, he was freshly showered to help relax and smell nice as usual. His dad gave him helpful calming and meditating tips ahead of the exam date, and his Apapa provided some loving words of affirmation before he was ready to go. Upon arrival with his girlfriend, he presented the appropriate identification and wand. They gave each other great moral support before their expected testing date and time. He made sure to arrive close to 30 minutes before his scheduled 14:00 (2:00 p.m) time on the 1st of July.

After the written portion was completed, Dio waited, fighting the extra nerves before he could get the full results. If he passed, he got the chance to attempt the practical, but if he failed... Well, he can always try again. It wouldn't be the end of the world, he supposed.

She had seen every expression under the sun march through the Apparition Test Centre: white-knuckled fear, cocky overconfidence, and—her least favourite—tears. But the young man she had seen seated during his written examination? He looked composed. A Ravenclaw, probably. They had a look about them.

"Mr. Laramore." She offered the faintest ghost of a smile and held the clipboard aloft as she scanned it. "Satisfactory comprehension... some hiccups with a few questions, but nothing worthy of sending you home without a licence. You've passed the written exam."

She gave a small nod and stepped aside, gesturing for him to follow her into the adjoining room: a spacious room with several hoops and various obstacles scattered about.

"Before we begin the practical, let's review the basics. The Three D's. I trust you know them?" She didn't wait for him to answer; she was already pacing in a slow circle. "Destination. You must fix your mind firmly upon the location you wish to appear in. Deliberation. Precision, clarity, intention—flailing about won't help you. Determination. You either commit or you don't; halfway Apparition is how we end up with misplaced eyebrows and worse."

With that, she clapped her hands once, sharp as a spell crack.

"Now, it is important to take your time. Splinching occurs when you rush, panic, or let your focus fray. Your first objective for the practical exam is to engage in short-range Apparition. When you are ready, step in this hoop beside me and proceed to Apparate inside the furthest hoop over there." She gestured to the right corner of the room, the hoop in question placed behind a shoulder-height brick wall. "Feel free to do some stretching and breathing first. If at any point you feel unwell, dizzy, or unsettled, stop. There is no shame in trying again another day."

Having splinched herself more than enough times to have deterred her from Apparation altogether, Dynah quashed the idea a few months back. With encouragement from the family and girlfriend, she had reclaimed some of her confidence. It was why she had arrived twenty minutes ahead of time, presented her wand and the letter sent to her with the scheduled date and time.

The theory part of the examination was okay; Dy was certain she had done alright as opposed to receiving top marks. It was the practical that made her nervous. More nervous than anything in her life, even being on stage. For that reason, Dy closed her eyes briefly and filled her head with nothing but thoughts of her music, and the possibilities of what her next costumes for her show performances would be. She refused to be swalloed by the jitters!

Krittika had been disappointed that hers and Dio’s exams hadn’t been scheduled for the same day but it didn’t matter. Not when he was here with her to offer support, as she had done for him yesterday. She was quite confident in her ability to pass both aspects of the examination but Dio’s support certainly added to it. Kritti gracefully handed over her identification in the form of the letter along with her wand. She was feeling quite calm during that time.

The feeling continued even during the time she spent waiting for those results. She knew how important a calm mind was; Aunty Sarika constantly reminded her. But Kritti did wish the results would quickly be delivered to her as she was quite anticipating the practical.

Dionysus' smile returned towards the Examiner when he saw her approaching. With words of luck exchanged between him and his girlfriend, he stood up ready to greet her. The hairs on the back of his neck prickled slightly, like being at the Healer's clinic. But he was fine, otherwise. Especially after hearing he passed the written exam. Yes! He didn't jump for joy as much as he wanted, instead, his smile grew a little more before his composure returned. Even too much excitement can trigger disastrous results.

Dio followed her into the next room; his dark eyes scanned the area and calculated the distance in an effort to memorize it. He then nodded when she asked about the 3 D's, his mouth barely opened before she already answered. Nodding again at her advice before she clapped her hands. The sound rebounded off the wall in an echo. Then came the instructions. Okay, now it was game time. "Yes, ma'am. Thank you."

This was it. As soon as he stepped into the hoop, it would begin. He inhaled through his nose before exhaling. Shaking his arms to get rid of any knicks and kinks, along with a stretch. This was the kind of thing he was familiar with, having been on the Gobstones team in school and shaping to be off the bench Professionally. With Gobstones, you needed to accurate calculate the distance visually, and then execute the perfect move. Big difference, he was transporting his entire body and not just a little stone.

Destination, Deliberation, and Determination. His words echoed in his mind right before he stepped into the hoop. His eyes immediately fixated on the furthest hoop, found in the right corner of the room behind the brick wall that matched shoulder-height. The 3 D's echoed in Dio's mind before he closed his eyes. He spun on the stop in the hoop just as he was taught in preparation before a crack noise could be heard. He visualized the location he needed to be in, and it was clear behind his eyelids. Almost as soon as his body appeared to have vanished, his body returned inside the exact hoop he was directed to aim for.

Dionysus opened his eyes, seeing he was in a different part of the room, but exactly where he wanted to be. Then his next thought was to check if he missed anything. He felt fine. No article of clothing, body part, or even eyebrow felt like they were missing, so he waited on the Examiner's confirmation.

She refused to be swalloed by the jitters!
Soon enough the clipped rhythm of Beitris Urquhart's boots against the floor sounded. Her presence was one of sharp edges, tidy corners, and exacting standards. Clipboard tucked beneath one arm, she called out with clinical precision: "Ms. Atreyu-Rehman."

Her gaze found the young woman almost immediately—nervous, but standing. That was something. Beitris regarded her for half a beat longer before continuing with her results.

"You've passed the written exam. Near top marks, so you will most certainly be moving forward. A touch scattered with a couple of the short answer questions—" a small tap of her finger on the clipboard "—but your comprehension otherwise was sound." She looked up then, her tone merely... measured. "This way, if you please."

Once they were within the softly glowing examination room—hoops spaced methodically, various obstacles in place, wards humming quietly in certain spots—Beitris didn't waste time.

"Before you is the first phase of the practical: short-range Apparition. Your objective is to Apparate from this hoop—" she gestured to a ring just beside them, "—to the furthest one in the back left corner." The hoop in question was completely surrounded by tall narrow posts, making it clear that some finesse would be needed to avoid catastrophe.

"Remember your training. Destination. Know where you're going. Deliberation. Think clearly, act cleanly. Determination. Don't hesitate once you begin. Wavering mid-transit tends to... complicate the outcome." Her pale eyes held Dynah's a moment longer. "If you feel faint, dizzy, or uncertain—say so. You can complete the practical another day if needed. But if you are ready, step into the hoop and begin when you are focused."

Beitris, in her usual pressed robes, made her presence known. Clipboard in hand, spectacles perched low on her nose, and expression as unreadable as ever. She scanned the room until her eyes settled on the young woman.

"Ms. Joshi," she began, a flick of her wand causing the parchment attached to the clipboard to rearrange itself with a neat rustle. A brow rose—not in surprise, but in acknowledgment. "Excellent marks on the written exam. High scores across all categories—clear grasp of the process of Apparation as well as its ethical implications. You're cleared to proceed with the practical."

It was at this point she opened the door to the classroom next door. "Come with me." Beitris walked at a steady pace, stopping once they reached the first hoop.

"I've no doubt you know what comes next. This is the short-range portion of the practical. You are to Apparate from this hoop—" she tapped the rim with the toe of her boot, "—to the one directly across the room. Back-centre, just beyond the two pillars." Soon enough, a cloud of smoke appeared, hindering visibility.

"Recall the Three D's: Destination. Deliberation. Determination. No hesitations, no second-guessing, and absolutely no showmanship. Apparition is not a stage for flair. If you feel even the slightest dizziness, magical resistance, or disorientation, do not attempt. Say so, and we will stop. We are not interested in rushed licences. We are interested in safe witches and wizards."

She finally took a few steps back, her voice softening by half a degree. "You may take a moment to prepare. Begin when you are ready." Clipboard in hand, she gave the floor—metaphorically and quite literally—to Krittika.

No article of clothing, body part, or even eyebrow felt like they were missing, so he waited on the Examiner's confirmation.
The moment Dionysus vanished, Beitris lowered her clipboard and tilted her head, the practiced eyes of a veteran Apparition Examiner sweeping the space he'd just left. The air had cracked with promise—clean, not jagged—and within seconds, there he was. Neatly inside the target hoop. No residual magical static in the space he'd departed from. Good.

She didn't applaud. Beitris Urquhart was not the applauding type when it came to testing. But her quill scratched lightly across the parchment clipped to the board in her hand, noting the clean transit and solid landing. Glancing at him, it looked like he was still in possession of his eyebrows, both ears, and, from what she could tell, all ten toes. Marvellous.

She placed the quill on the clipboard with a soft thud.

"Next: long-range Apparition." Her tone did not waver, though the words held weight. She paced slowly, steps echoing across the floor as she continued. "Your objective will be to Apparate to the Butterbeer cart in Diagon Alley. I want you to appear right beside it, avoiding potential patrons in the process." With it being summer, she knew it would be bustling this time of day.

She paused in front of him, her gaze calm and cool. "I'll go first to ensure a safe arrival. You may make your leave about fifteen seconds after I depart."

Then came the sound of a faint pop, and Beitris vanished on the spot.

OOC: Feel free to make a post here with your character departing via Apparition, otherwise please proceed to the Butterbeer cart.

As much as Nadia was filled with excitement and nerves for her apparition test on the inside, she was doing her very best to control her outward appearance. None of her usual absent bouncing as she surely didn’t want to give the examiner ANY reason to think she wasn’t ready for the responsibility for a license. Of course once the practical exam began her focus would be too busy on not splincing herself or outright failing for the seventeen year old to care about anything else.

The written exam had gone alright, the studying for that almost as thorough at the actual practicing. The arriving early and presenting her letter and wand had been the easy part. Now she waited for the results of the written exam with baited breath, running over the three d’s in her head in the meantime. She needed this before she had to report to training.

One thing Dionysus would appreciate was the Examiner's tone didn't change beyond neutral. Because chances are any congratulatory could have thrown him off his game. With the prickly nerves returning when she appeared, relieve began to set in slightly. Only slightly, because the test wasn't done yet. Now was where it counted the most.

Long-range.. Okay, Dionysus listened and blinked at the location he would be heading to. Okay.. I can do this. The Butterbeer cart. Soon as the examiner departed, he began the same ritual, shake off any tense muscles and stretch, and deep breaths.

Dio visualized the location, he could feel the area through his fingers. Destination, Deliberation, and Determination. Echoed in his mind as he focused on the task. When he was ready, he spun on the spot and-

CRACK

He was no longer in the building.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

The approaching footsteps made Dynah’s heart rate accelerate and her palms went cold. She just knew her results were about to be announced to her. And how right she was. The breath she hadn’t realised she had been holding whooshed out of her mouth in a relieved sigh. A small smile was managed as she nodded her understanding at Urquhart’s explanation about what Dy had fallen short on. She didn’t explain herself out loud but completely attributed the lack of neat answers to the question as her nervousness. “Thank you.” For the results, for letting her know where she fell short, all of it.

Without another word, she followed the instructor to the examination room where she took in the set up of the room. Naturally, the young woman was still nervous as thoughts of splinching crossed her mind for the umpteenth time. However, as the instructions were given, her gaze shifting from Urquhart to the hoops indicated, a burst of determination came over her. She had done more nerve wracking things than Apparition. Dynah was not going to let her intrusive thoughts get the best of her.

“I feel great,’’ she said firmly, eyeing the second hoop wedged between narrow posts. “I appreciate the reminders,’’ came the genuine remark. The meaning of those three Ds would not slip away from her. Dy stepped into the first hoop and took a deep breath. She inhaled through her nostrils and exhaled through her mouth.

Right.

She was ready.

She thought extremely clearly about her destination; it helped that she could see it from where she stood. Deliberation and Determination, in her opinion, went hand in hand - thinking and acting without hesitation. With the grace she possessed thanks to her training as a dancer, she turned on the spot, her destination still etched firmly in her mind. With a loud CRACK! {ugh, some day she was going to do this silently} she vanished from one hoop. She appeared in the second - the one surrounded by those tall posts - a short time later. She had done it! The realisation dawned upon her and did a little spin in celebration, those posts surrounding her like a prisoner cell.

Another aspect of the exam had been completed, and not a body part left behind!

But Dy was careful to not let overconfidence best her. There was still a long way to go.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Krittika continued to be quite calm while she awaited her results. She wisely reminded herself that it made absolutely no sense to work herself up into a frenzy which could quite possibly disrupt her chances of acing the examination. She patiently waited for the examiner to reveal her results, and while she did so, she only filled her head with happy thoughts. Those thoughts were soon interrupted with Urquhart bringing her thrilling news. A warm and broad dimpled smile broke out. Top marks! That was just what she had set her eyes on. “Thank you, Ms Urquhart. I’m quite ready to move on.” So Kritti followed her the short distance to a classroom.

Hoops. This was no surprise but the Ravenclaw welcomed the familiarity of the classroom’s setting. After all, how often had she practiced using hoops like these? “No doubt at all,’’ she confirmed with a nod. “Hoop at the back-center, beyond the two pillars.” Kritti just had a second or two of visibility of the said hoop when she lost vision of it due to the smoke.

Of course.

The examination was not complete without adding hindrances.

Luckily, that brief observation of the hoop and the pillars was all that was needed. She held onto that image as though her life depended on it. Destination. Deliberation. Determination. When Urquhart finished her reminders, Kritti gave her a smile of appreciation. “Presently, I feel wonderful.” It also felt good to know that the Ministry took issuing Apparition licenses quite seriously.

The young lady stepped into the first hoop, mentally repeating the three Ds. On the last repeat, she reminded herself of what each of the words meant. Only then did she make the second hoop the complete focus of her mind - quite temporarily replacing a certain Laramore who usually occupied it. With the destination aspect covered, she turned on the spot without hesitation but with all the determination. There was a soft POP! as she vanished from the first spot, appearing in the back-center hoop and amidst all the smoke.

There had been no splinching, thus continuing Krittika’s streak of successful Apparition.

The written exam had gone alright, the studying for that almost as thorough at the actual practicing. The arriving early and presenting her letter and wand had been the easy part. Now she waited for the results of the written exam with baited breath, running over the three d’s in her head in the meantime. She needed this before she had to report to training.
The rhythmic click-click of Beitris Urquhart's heeled boots echoed into the waiting chamber long before her voice followed. "Ms. Atreyu-Rehman," she intoned, her voice smooth, having just uttered the same words her the girl's sister not that long ago. With Nadia in sight, Beitris extended her clipboard with a flick, the parchment unfurling to present her results with a faint rustle.

"Passing marks on the written portion. A few slip-ups on some of the questions, but nothing too concerning," she said with the faintest incline of her head—a gesture that, from Beitris, may as well have been a standing ovation. "You may now follow me."

"Now begins the practical, starting with short-range Apparition," she continued as she led the way to the next room, which had several hoops scattered on the floor. "But before any attempt to Disapparate, we return to the principles that underpin successful Apparition: Destination. Determination. Deliberation." The three words fell like chiseled stone into the space between them. "You must be absolutely certain of your target location. Your will to reach it must be unwavering. And your mental focus must cut through any distraction. Wavering minds make for incomplete bodies."

Beitris let the silence settle, allowing the weight of the warning to sink in before continuing.

"Please step into the hoop beside me," she instructed, indicating the hoop with a slight movement of her clipboard. You are to Apparate from this hoop to"—her eyes scanned the room—"the third hoop from the right." A series of tall, transparent panes rose in a semicircular arc around the hoop. Though invisible at first glance, catching the light just enough would when viewed from an angle betray their presence.

She paused, taking a moment to flip a piece of parchment over so her clipboard as ready. "You must Apparate within it, not merely near it. You may begin when you are ready. But please let me know if you feel dizzy, disorientated, or any other feeling that may prevent you from a successful Apparition. You can always come back another day."

Beitris did not smile—but her gaze sharpened with something not far from approval as Dynah reappeared in the target hoop, whole and well, with no signs of splinching. The young woman's little celebratory spin was met with a quirked brow, not disapprovingly, but as if cataloguing her personality. The woman quickly busied herself with making notes with a flourish.

Clean execution despite loud departure. No distortion, no lag. Managed the posts without incident. Re-entry posture was sound.

She stepped closer now, voice even but slightly lowered—not as a whisper, but with the subtle gravity of someone who expected to be listened to. A flick of her wand cleared the surrounding posts as if they had never been there. She gestured briskly for Dynah to step out of the hoop.

"We'll proceed to the long-range Apparition segment. Your task is to arrive outside of Florean Fortescue's, without Apparating on anyone who may be enjoying their ice cream outdoors."

The clipboard lowered slightly as Beitris continued. "I will Apparate first so I can observe your arrival. After I have made my leave, you may follow suit after fifteen seconds, or when you are ready." She knew that some may need additional time to fully picture their destination, take a moment for breathing exercises, and so on.

Without another word, the woman vanished. No flash. No spin. All that was left behind was the sound of a faint pop.

OOC: Feel free to make a post here with your character departing via Apparition, otherwise please proceed to the seating area outside of Florean Fortescue's.

Beitris watched with all the cool detachment of a seasoned observer, her quill poised above the clipboard as Krittika stepped into the first hoop. The soft POP! was telling. Not just in sound, but in quality. Beitris' ears had grown well-attuned to the subtle notes of Apparition: the hurried, sloppy crack of anxiety; the wobbly, warped pop of an almost-splinch; and then the crisp, clean one—like the one just sounded—that sang of practiced poise and a perfectly visualised destination.

Through the smoke, her eyes narrowed slightly. There was movement, a graceful arrival, and when the smoke cleared just enough—there she stood. Intact. Precisely positioned. Poised.

Beitris didn't smile, but there was a small, almost imperceptible shift in her expression—approval cloaked in formality. She walked forward, boots clicking against the floor until she stood beside the second hoop.

"Now," she continued, her voice clipped but not cold, "we proceed to long-range Apparition. "You are to Apparate to the fountain in Diagon Alley. I want you to appear facing the cherub with a missing head, all while avoiding anyone who may be nearby."

A brief pause occurred before she spoke again. "You may make your leave about fifteen seconds after I depart. Take a breath. Collect yourself. And when you are ready... proceed."

Clipboard at her side, the woman then vanished with a quiet pop.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Anyone who knew Dynah knew that she spontaneously burst into little spins and dance moves whenever it struck her fancy. Usually they were more exuberant but given the nature of today’s surroundings, she opted to tone it down a bit. The main reason was that she didn’t want to give the examiner a reason to reprimand her.

Ready to move onto the next stage of the exam, Dy recomposed herself as the posts vanished. She stepped, with continued gracefulness, out of the hoop. Her heart performed a somersault worthy of an award for choreography when it was mentioned that Long-Range Apparition was up next. Dy gulped but acknowledged Beitris with a resolved nod. The instructions were mentally repeated; of course she did not suddenly want to appear out of nowhere on anyone. She’d hate to have her date with an ice cream unceremoniously interrupted.

“See you soon then.” The performer offered the woman a smile. And when that faint pop resonated, she couldn’t help but feel slight envy. Why couldn’t she Apparate as softly? It was an unreasonable question, one that Dy knew she shouldn’t be asking herself when she was already pushing herself so much to avoid Splinching ever again. She didn’t need added pressure on herself.

Now she prepared herself: a deep breath followed by her drawing up a picture in her head of Florean’s, the place where she and her Dad Adi had gone on many daddy-daughter ice cream dates, where she and Tamara hung out on dates and sometimes ate off each other’s cones. Tactfully, Dy pictured up someplace that was not usually crowded - so not too close to the patio tables. She pictured one of the outdoor spots between the tables and the actual shop, some place that she thought would not be as bustling.

The girl turned on the spot while maintaining her grace.

CRACK!!!

Goodbye for now, examination room!

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Kritti didn’t talk about it to anyone but Dio since she hadn’t wanted to seem as though she were boasting but Appariting with that soft POP had been an occurrence since the first time she had Disapparated. Needless to say there had been a lot of clinging to Dio’s arm and her jumping in sheer delight. Kritti was therefore not surprised when the trend continued.

She watched as the examiner approached. Sometimes it was difficult to discern the woman’s expressions but Kritti thought she detected a hint of validation beneath that somewhat stoic stature. Ah, Long-Range Apparition! Perhaps this was the sort she was in anticipation of the most. “I know that Fountain well,’’ she said in reply. It was a meeting place for many a meetup during the summer. When she was younger, the Ravenclaw was easily spooked by that particular cherub. Now? She found it somewhat funny that it was headless while the rest of its counterparts easily spat water into the fountain.

Kritti waved to the examiner as she departed then pulled up a picture of that fountain. She pictured it quite clearly before zoning in on the Headless Cherub. She imagined herself facing it. Despite knowing how busy it would be due to it being summer, Kritti was brimming with confidence as she turned on the spot.

POP!

Nadia let out a breath that she had even registered she had been holding when the instructor revealed how she had done on the written exam. Not perfect, but it certainly seemed like it was more than acceptable for her to move on, which was all that really mattered she supposed. Though it did make her mildly curious how her sister had done. Not that they were competing at all of course. Safety first. With a simple nod of acknowledgement, the freshly graduated former Gryffindor obediently followed the woman, listening as they went not wanting to miss a thing.

Destination. Determination. Deliberation.

Three words that had held so much weight recently and were, as stated, the cornerstone of this exam. At least there were starting off small without having to visualize something that wasn’t right there in the same room as they were. Third hoop from the right. Nadia did as she was told, stepping into the hoop indicated by the examiner and standing beside her on either side of the ring. In and not near…got it. Taking a moment to gather herself, she took a deep breath, her eyes narrowing just a smidge as she focused her full attention on the spot in question.

It’s just like getting a quaffle through the goal, Nadia, she remarked to herself. It was best to aim directly through not allow oneself to rely on the possibility of a rebound getting said quaffle in in case you weren’t as direct as you had wanted. Another brief moment and she initiated her movement with a turn on the spot, vanishing with a crack. Appearing again within the hoop hale and whole, the quidditch player taking note of the mirrored panes partly surrounding her from her new perspective.

That was close.

Default Dionysus Laramore: Side-Along Apparition Return
• HuffleStud • Knight of The Zodiac • Manly Beard-Grower • Cicatrice de Harry •

Destination. Determination. Deliberation.

That was the key to everything with Apparition. Giving each word equal attention, too much of one thing, tipped things over. But Dionysus had grown enough confidence throughout the exam, with careful attention to detail so he didn't risk making mistakes. His attention wasn't just on himself heading back into the hoop of the testing center, but also on the examiner returning just as she had left with him into the same hoop. All was calm in the Testing Center. There wasn't a disturbance in sight...until-

CRACK

The sound of a fortune cookie came with Dionysus and Ms. Uruquart, who he kept a good grip on. They appeared like magic into the first hoop he successfully apparated in at the beginning of the practical exam. No wobbling from him.

Dionysus didn't feel any different than before. His body parts, clothing, and everything were still intact as he stood with good posture. His eyes glanced to see how Ms. Urquhart was. From the clean smell of her, he was confident to report she wasn't lost along the way.

Now came the moment of truth, how well or badly did he do? If he did something wrong, he was prepared to try again and be successful. If he passed... he just hoped the good news didn't take long to deliver as he attempted to look neutral.

Appearing again within the hoop hale and whole, the quidditch player taking note of the mirrored panes partly surrounding her from her new perspective.

That was close.
Beitris' gaze sharpened the instant Nadia disappeared with that satisfying crack, clipboard tucked neatly against her arm. No sign of hesitation in the Disapparition itself, and more importantly, no telltale mist of splinching in the aftermath. Good. Very good.

Her boots clicked once again as she strode toward the third hoop, her pace unhurried but purposeful. She circled Nadia like a hawk taking stock of its prey—checking, without a word, for any minor signs of instability, imbalance, or latent injury. Finding none, she made a small mark on the parchment with the end of her self-inking quill.

An almost-imperceptible nod was made, the slightest easing of her shoulders—the rarest hint of approval from the formidable Apparition examiner.

"We will now continue to the Long-Range Apparition segment of the practical exam," instructed, the steely authority ever-present in her voice. "From the hoop you are currently standing in, I would like for you to Apparate to the Leaky Cauldron courtyard. Specifically, I would like for you to arrive at the pond that is there." Naturally, the expectation of not Apparating in the pond or on anyone was expected.

Her gaze met Nadia's as she lowered her clipboard. "I will be ahead of you at the arrival point to confirm your landing. Wait approximately fifteen seconds after I depart. Steady yourself. Breathe once. Then commit. After that—" she didn't need to finish the sentence. The implication was clear: precision and timeliness were non-negotiable.

Then, with a quiet pop, Beitris vanished.

The moment they vanished from Godric's Hollow, Beitris felt the familiar pull of Side-Along Apparition: sharp, compressed, almost like passing through the eye of a needle. Dionysus' grip was steady—not too tight, not too loose—and she noted, even mid-departure, that he kept his own balance cleanly without hesitation. The passage through the Apparition fold was smooth, unmarred by the usual wobbles or lurches she sometimes experienced with less disciplined candidates.

Beitris disengaged her arm the moment they arrived, her polished boots landing squarely within the same hoop from which they had departed. Her quill was in hand almost immediately, and a few brisk notations scratched across her clipboard. The kind of notes that, for many students, sparked either hope or dread.

"Mr. Laramore," she said, her voice cool but edged with the faintest trace of finality—the weight of a judgment about to be rendered, "you have demonstrated consistent focus, safe technique, and appropriate judgement across all segments of the practical examination."

A pause lingered, not cruelly, but with professional gravity, allowing the moment its full measure.

"You have passed," she said, the words crisp and clean. A small nod punctuated the announcement.

Beitris withdrew a sealed parchment from the pocket of her robe, the Ministry's official Apparition License Authorisation already prepared, her signature now making it complete. She extended it to him, the edges of the scroll catching the soft enchanted lighting overhead.

"Present this at the front desk to finalise your certification and have your licence issued. Congratulations," she stated evenly. Then, with the faintest raise of one brow, she added, "You may now Apparate legally within the boundaries permitted by your licence. Use that privilege with caution."

Now the moment of truth. Dionysus nodded at hearing her assessment on his practical. It sounded promising. The pause was excruciating, but not overwhelming as he waited and..

He passed. He passed! Dionysus's smile beamed as he accepted the sealed parchment, "Thank you, Ms. Urquhart!" And now he was off to return to the front desk for his certification. He couldn't wait to share the good news with his girlfriend who was patiently waiting. Then they could surprise his parents. What a happy day!

Dionysus Laramore went on his way to present his apparition skills.

"You are to take me to the precise location from which you began today's test—inside the initial hoop you started the practical exam at the Ministry. I expect a clean arrival. POP!

It was quite a pity that Krittika had been unable to master Apparating and Disapparating silently during the course of this examination. That would have pleased her immensely and just might had impressed Ms. Beitris with her dedication. However, she wasn't complaining for both examinee and examiner had made it back in one piece!

The inbound seventh year Hogwartian first took a good look at the examiner, with the hopeful air that she had not been Splinched. Next, she ensured that her own body was intact - which it was. Then finally, she took a look at the surroundings in which they stood.

It was unmistakably the examination room where they had both started out at. As for that hoop? It was indeed the first hoop she had stepped foot in, and they were standing in it.

That familiar smile of hers, that happy and dimpled one, graced her features. This too had been a success! But Kritti needed to hear the results officially from Ms. Beitris, of course.

Satisfied she was all in one piece, Nadia patiently awaited the next move by the apparition examiner. Or rather her next words as the woman could be heard approaching her. The former lion met her gaze as the older woman rather obviously inspected her from any signs she hadn’t been successful. If Nadia hadn’t been paying such attention, she might have missed the very subtle responses she had earned with her results and have to rely solely on words once the silence was broken.

Long-range apparition…next step.

She had been wondering just where she might have to go all summer. A few times finding herself gazing around Diagon Alley as she relaxed with friends and family with a bit more attention. Nadia did let out a small breathe as the location was revealed. A place that she had been many times before as the gateway between the muggle and the magical world. Hopefully her mind’s eye would get her there without any trouble. Particularly with the proximity to the aforementioned pond. The teenager nodded to confirm she understood even as the instructor continued on.

When the woman disappeared, Nadia focused on her visualization as she inwardly counted to 15 as instructed. Then a deep breathe, a final moment to herself, and a turn. Pop! She was gone.

CRACK!

Her grip was still maintained on Beitris as she arrived at that hoop where it all began. This much was confirmed as Dy opened her eyes to check out where her feet were positioned. Upon that confirmation, she heaved a sigh of relief as though a great weight had been lifted from her. In a way, it was since this examination had been seen something she had allowed to rest heavily on her mind.

“Here we are,’’ Dy said politely, offering a smile to the woman with her. Only then did she release Beitris' arm. The examiner could now add Dynah’s name to the list of examinees who had successfully transported her back to the Examination Room.

All that was left now was receiving that result.

Beitris did not immediately speak. Instead, she allowed the silence to stretch for a moment—a tool she often employed to ensure that examinees did not mistake the end of their Apparition for the end of their test. Her gaze swept over Krittika, crisp and analytical, starting with the young woman’s eyes, then tracing downward, pausing at her arms, legs, and finally her hands. Not a hair out of place, not a trace of discomfort or disorientation.

Next, Beitris performed a swift self-assessment. No discomfort, no odd twinges of magical dislocation. She had arrived perfectly intact.

Satisfied, she shifted her attention to their surroundings, the first hoop precisely beneath their feet, the room just as they had left it. Krittika had not only succeeded—she had done so with consistent precision.

A faint, nearly imperceptible smile touched the corners of Beitris' lips. For her, this was the equivalent of a beaming grin.

"Ms. Joshi," she began, her tone formal yet lacking the rigidness it usually carried. "You have completed all portions of the Apparition examination. Your practical performance has demonstrated admirable composure and consistency."

She reshuffled the parchments, etching her signature at the final line at the bottom.

"It is my pleasure to inform you that you have passed. Your Apparition licence will be issued at the front desk. Congratulations, Ms. Joshi. May you always remember that safe, responsible Apparition is a mark of true mastery."

Beitris’s grip remained steady throughout the transition—firm but not restrictive, the weight of experience evident in her unwavering stance even as they reappeared with yet another resounding CRACK!

The hoop shimmered around them, and Beitris smoothly extricated her arm from Dynah's grasp, stepping aside just enough to reclaim her clipboard. A flick of her wand brought the quill hovering above the parchment, already taking notes in sharp, precise script.

Side-Along Apparition: Successful, she wrote, her facial expressions remaining stoic as ever. No signs of disorientation. Maintained a secure grip. Arrived at the intended destination.

The quill stopped, and Beitris' gaze settled on Dynah with the same analytical sharpness she had maintained throughout the exam—though there was, perhaps, a faint hint of something gentler in her eyes.

"You have passed, Ms. Atreyu-Rehman." Her voice was measured, but a single deliberate nod punctuated the declaration. "Your understanding of the three D's is evident, and your spatial awareness is strong."

She shifted the clipboard beneath her arm, folding her hands before her with an air of finality. "However," she continued, "I must stress the importance of refining the sound of your Apparition. Loud departures and arrivals can be both disruptive and, depending on the circumstances, potentially hazardous. Work on maintaining focus during your turn, visualising not just the destination, but the quiet, seamless transition itself. With practice, your journeys will be marked by precision—not volume."

A short, precise nod followed as she filled out an licence authorisation form. "That said, your result is a pass. Congratulations, Ms. Atreyu-Rehman. Your licence will be processed at the front desk. Until it is time for a renewal, continue Apparating responsibly."
