A spacious room awaits you for Level-wide and division-specific meetings. A long, polished wood table sits in the middle of the room, surrounded by comfortable chairs. The chic decor is enhanced by the several framed posters of Quidditch and Gobstones players alike hung on the walls. If a meeting has been called, this is the place to assemble with plenty of elbow room for everyone.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Janis made her way to the conference room, ready to begin a new year of work. Pouring herself a cup of coffee, Janis smiled at Victoria, West and Jacob and greeted them with a, "Hello, everyone. How was your summer?" She sat down and got her notebook and quill out, ready for any notetaking that would surely be happening.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
It was a beautiful day and Lucas was extra happy to be back at the Ministry doing what he loved. Naturally, he would rather be spending time with the soon-to-be wife and helping her more with getting things for the wedding planned but that was not to be. They both still had to be here at work. As it was, he arrived for the meeting with his book that was used to take notes along with a pen.
"Hi, everyone." Almost immediately he busied himself with fixing a cup of tea. Once done, he took a seat. "Great to be back with you lot,'' he said and flipped his book open to a fresh page. Lucas always kept meticulous notes so that he could reference them when needed. Today would be no different.

First job. The feeling was real. Before opening the door to the conference room, she took deep breaths and exhaled twice to release tension. Okay, Laila, you will be okay. There were many nice people at the Cocktail hour, remember?
She walked in and greeted everyone with a warm smile. 'Good day to you all. I'm Laila,' she said.

Oh yes it looked like people were starting to come in and Victoria smiled and greeted them all. "Yes, yes, everyone will be here. We have plenty of things for all divisions to do. Lots to talk about and get through." It was already April and they were so behind. She couldn't help but laugh at the comment about beating her to work, "You would have to get up pretty early to beat me, though now that all my children are older I don't have to be run around to get them ready." Which honestly made her sad in a way and made her think of her home issues, so back to work focus. She couldn't help but give an odd look about summer, was Janis feeling alright?
"Good day everyone, glad to see all your faces and some new ones too. " Yes, she saw Laila and gave her a nod. "Now I know plenty of departments have been busy even though the ministry was closed, things don't every shut down just because a building has and our department was one of them. I have to thank all of you for the work you did in your areas from home, Quidditch wouldn't have run on its own and Gobstone trading wouldn't have gone smoothly without you." So yes they all needed some thank yous for that.
"Now that we are almost finished with the season of quidditch and Gobstone is going to be starting, there are a few things in the ministry we will be focusing on as well. Since our previous minister left the place a bit off, we as the activity level are going to help the minister bring more wellness to the entire ministry." Yes, let that sink in, you have a very big job ahead of you level seven.
"I have already been in talks with him a little to start us in the right direction, but I will need everyone's help with this. What are some things that you think we could do to get the ministry more active? I should say that a few exercise classes will be scheduled for our fitness room, but that I promise there won't be so many that interferes with anyone who regularly works out there." She truly could just extend the room to make more of an open space for these classes.
"With those classes already getting organized, I want to look at all the ministry food court and daycare included on ways we can make healthier choices."

Time flied undoubtedly since they we’re sitting down for a department meeting already being in the month of April. Jacob sat down in his seat and flipped opened his notepad to a fresh and clean page as Victoria got the meeting started. One of the new ministers goals was to bring wellness to the ministry personnel and they we’re as it seemed elected to provide the wellness, Jacob ate up the last of his banana before he raised his hand to offer up a suggestion. "I am by no means a personal trainer but maybe if we had someone with that experience we could offer a training programme after work hours that the other department employees are welcome to sign up to attend to get in shape."
Before Jacob took a bite of his sandwich since he had missed breakfast that morning he asked "Weren’t the spiked food in the food court the reason for the animal transfigurations some employees suffered from? If that was the case then maybe not just the food and beverage selection needs to be looked over for health reasons but also the management?" He wasn’t going to put one foot down there until he knew the food down there was healthy and most of all 100% safe to eat.

Laila listened attentively. Oh, there was someone she had met before- Jacob! She smiled at him and then suggested : 'Um..we could have like..office plants? Also muggles use..umm..aroma-therapy..if we could have something like an essential oil-diffuser that produces a nice smell, that would be nice'. Oh wait..what if all that was already there? 'Unless we already have all that,' she added, feeling stupid.

Phillip hadn't even gotten a chance to decorate his new desk before the whole department was called in for a meeting. His cute, little knick-knacks would just have to dance around and mingle in the cardboard box a little longer!
As people filed in and took seats, the older gentleman kept quiet and twiddled his thumbs after rubbing the material of his robe sleeve. Call it his desire to always be dressed to the nines or his old habits but Phillip still wore robes in most occasions whereas many younger witches and wizards were favoring Muggle digs. These magenta robes were both stylish AND business appropriate.
Hmpf.
They all listened to Ms. Culloden explain the situation and new task of the department; she was a pretty little thing wasn't she? So a health initiative. The Ministry sounded like it was a cesspool by the way she was talking. Mental note to keep handshakes or sneaky make-outs behind closed doors at a minimum. He giggled to himself.
The man (Jacob) nearby expressed his doubt of the food court and Phillip offered a seconded notion with a sassy "Here, here!" And another young thing (Laila) mentioned...aroma therapy. "I like her idea too!" Nothing wrong with making this place smell good, especially if it's a dirty unhealthy one.
Raising his small arm, Phillip added his own suggestion to the fire. "I used to dance semi-professionally and taught many lessons in Salsa for years before coming to the Ministry. I'd be willing to dust off the ole polished blacks for a little dancing action." How much fun would it be to get all of these people dancing, and not to mention he'd get to do what he loved.
Oh and he could play matchmaker! hehe
On a more serious, business note. "We could also explore tying our classes and whatnot into some form of overall wellness initiative. I don't know who'd be in charge of testing and whatnot--maybe St. Mungo's, but what if we had each ministry employee take a health survey or activity-level survey to help us organize our class offerings?"

Wow, someone liked her idea. Laila grinned at the man as she keenly listened to him. 'Yes, we could have like..monthly check-ups maybe?,' she added.

As per usual, Javier was sitting quietly, listening rather than contributing. Seeing as how the last time they had a meeting, he'd somehow ended up getting himself volunteered for physical activity, he figured it was safer for him to just keep his mouth shut as long as possible. Although he had to admit - this idea of healthy living was actually a bit intriguing. When they mentioned the spiked food, he perked up.
"As someone who was affected by that spiked food," he began. Yes, he was going to remind everyone how inconvenienced he had been by the whole thing. Being turned in to a seal was, by far, the worst thing he'd ever had happen to him. Not even being dramatic. "I agree that management needs to be stepped up there. I mean, regardless of whether or not the food spiked was healthy or not, it was still spiked. I know I'd feel a lot better if someone was doing more checks of the food, both in the cafeteria AND in the daycare," he explained.
Which brought him to his next point. WOW. Why did he suddenly have a LOT to say? "On that note, the children need more healthy snacks at the daycare. Parents have enough to worry about, they shouldn't have to worry about whether or not their kids are eating right when they're under the care of the Ministry," he pointed out.

These were all very good and Victoria continued to have her self-writing quill make notes, checking them to make sure it was getting everything. She listened to every single one of her employees as they shared. Though she stopped a few times to process what they said, had some of them not fully seen the article that came out on what all happened?
"Wonderful ideas everyone, I think we have a real set of plans here. Though, Jacob, the food court wasn't as much management as the minister had spiked the food. The management didn't really have anything to do with it, so now that he is in custody and the new minister is here I don't think we will have any trouble with that, but maybe if I could have you and West could head to the Minister Office in the next few days to speak with January and Charles and make sure the food is safe as well as healthy options are happening." She made a note that she assigned them to the task and hoped they'd except.
Having the new members of the team speak right away was refreshing too. "Laila I loved that idea with plants, could you and Janis could meet with the environmental department head and see if we could get some more plants around the ministry, maybe she could get you paired up with someone in the department to help with this task." As for the aromatherapy stuff, she would have to look into that more. Maybe she'd ask Cinnamon and Bart what it was before she made a fool out of herself.
She couldn't help but be excited that Phillip had joined the team. Everyone was so much younger than here for the most part, so it was refreshing to have an older employee in her department. "Yes, I am happy to have you join the recreational team and think your dancing could come in handy. We can put the notice up and offer the lessons. Maybe you could speak with the Minister Office or even the minister himself about the health screenings. I'm don't think we need once a month, but a once a year health screening would be great." If she admitted she hadn't been to see the healer for a yearly in a long time.
She had felt horrible that Javi had been one to turn into an animal and was glad it was over, but she knew the effects had to still be there. "Yes and that is a reason we were closed for so long, we as department heads and the minister made sure the entire ministry was safe, food included before we let anyone back inside." She could understand though if he never ate in the food court again. "These are great ideas Javi, maybe you and Lucas could go to the daycare and meet with the workers about ordering healthy snacks and possibly having an activity to promote fitness each day."
Looking over her notes, she was excited to see how many things they had accomplished and how many more healthy options were added. "I'm going to get the sign up for the Zumba ready, we do have a Zumba instructor coming to lead that, so possibly if more training classes come in we will have instructors for that as well." So many possibilities for years to come. "Is there anything else you could think of?"
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Janis smiled at Victoria and Laila. "I'll be only too happy to go and see the head of the Department of Environment with Laila. I think the idea of plants sounds great but I think we need a mix of Muggle and Wizarding plants. I don't want a repeat of what happened last time. How about bringing some scented roses and charming them so that they don't need too much attention if any? That way we can focus on our work."
He sat, sipping his coffee and staring at his blank sheet of parchment. Healthy food, kids, and Zumba weren't really his area of expertise. Plus, there were several new members to their team that seemed excited to help out. When his name was mentioned, he looked up to Victoria. "I can do that. It would be nice to not have to go out for lunch every day." West quickly jotted down a note to get with Jacob and take a trip to see January and Charles. The unhealthy food wasn't a big deal to him, but safety was.
"Wait, plants?" He immediately looked to Janis and Lucas. "Are we forgetting what happened the last time plants were brought to the office? Janis, are you sure about this?" He shook his head. It felt like they were playing with fire and he wasn't in the mood to be attacked again.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Janice looked at West. "No, I haven't forgotten about that incident hence my suggestion about using Muggle plants and/or charms." She then addressed Laila's question. "Well, I had been trying to forget that particular incident. Last year, someone left a plant in the Quidditch and Gobstones divisions work area. I made the mistake of watering it because it looked like it needed maintenance. The lousy plant began to attack Lucas, West and me. I think other departments in the Ministry had to deal with such a plant."
She then looked at West in the hope that he would continue the story or change the subject.

Laila nodded as she spoke about the incident. She was worried and concerned for them. Wow, she didn't know it was that bad. Sensing that Janis didn't want to talk about it further, she said 'I guess Muggle plants will do then'
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
She shook her head as the ladies spoke, "That isn't the entire story and we will let you discuss this with the Environmental Department Head on which plants." She did give Janis a look, not a mean one, but one of at least state all the facts. She knew it was a bad thing that happened, but there were reasons behind it, like the food court.
"For the past few years, things have been happening. Things that shouldn't be happening. While the ministry was closed it has come to light that many of these were started by the minister at the time. The plants were included in this. He wanted to cause chaos and that is exactly what he did. With the plants, he was the standing department head and so with Olly now in place I assure you there won't be those types of problems again. "
She trusted all the department heads that were now in place and she was sure there would be no awful issues this term like last.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Janis looked at Victoria as she spoke with a look of slight shock and embarrassment on her face. "I guess my personal experience with the plant affected me more than I thought. I guess that due to last year being my first year at the Ministry, I was more trusting and naive. Hopefully, I am more cautious this time."
As Laila spoke, Janis nodded. "As soon as you give the go-ahead, I think Laila and I go should have a meeting with Olly."
Jacob looked up from his notetaking as his boss adressed him and West. She wanted them to meet with the minister and miss Bones about healthy and safe food and drink options. After a quick sideways glance to West he nodded in response to Victoria. "Sure, we can get that sorted out sometime this week with the Minister." Jacob though silently did not agree with Victorias views. The food court management was to blame as much as the ex-minister for not detecting the spiked food in time and taking appropriate action before people got sick.
Thinking hard for more ideas Jacob asked "Is there an employee gym somewhere in the building? If not that could be a great way to promote fitness and health by giving the employees free access to it and offering classes like yoga, zumba, spinning or just a regular exersize class with a trainer."
Milo had been fairly quiet up until this point in the meeting. It wasn't as if he had nothing to say or contribute, it was more that he was listening and thinking as he jotted down a few notes. He felt that it was an important part of his role as Gobstones Division Manager to take efficient notes during meetings in order to see where his division could be of most use.
And there were a lot of great ideas that where being tossed around. He did glance up at Jacob when he asked about a Ministry gym and gave him a somewhat confused look. "There's one just down the corridor on our floor. Surely that could be utilized for any of the fitness activities or classes that could be implemented." He looked to Victoria for confirmation on that. Though he liked that it wasn't all that crowded, and it likely would be more so with these plans, it only seemed logical that they put it to use in this way.
"Certainly we could tie in fitness or activity promotion with some of the professional games that we oversee. Maybe discounted tickets for meeting a fitness goal or some other incentive." There were already a ton of great ideas floating around for activities, why not offer other incentives. People always liked stuff like that.

"It's okay Janis, it was a traumatic experience for everyone that dealt with those things. Plus the ones that had to deal with the animal transformation." She was just very glad it was over and they could put it behind them. She wanted to forget it ever happened, but knew she couldn't so the best thing was to make a positive from a negative and that was exactly what they were working on.
Her eyes showed the confusion with Jacob's question, but thankfully Milo answered for her. "Yes that is exactly where different things will take place, though I think some things like Yoga might be fun in an outside location or even possibly just in a random place." She was thinking of a few places but needed to speak with other department heads.
"Milo I love that idea." She made sure it was getting into her notes, "I think they could really motivate some." It shouldn't be that hard to hold back a few tickets either.
"Alright, I'm not going to keep you much longer, because I think we are at a good place with this and you need time to meet with the different people and we will come back together with what we have found, but I did want to mention that we won the bid for the World Cup to be held right here in London next year 2098!"
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Lucas was quiet while all the chattering was going on. Really, on some days he preferred to listen and today happened to be one of those days. Notes were being made and he occasionally gave nods of approval at ideas being tossed about. At one in particular, though, he looked up sharply. His eyes met West’s with a knowing look before it shifted to Janis. The three of them had had a rather nasty experience with a particular plant months ago. He was not keen on a repeat of the episode but this time, things were different. “I’m open for Janis’s suggestion but since Nickels is gone, I don’t think we have to worry.’’
Victoria’s announcement about the World Cup pushed every single thought out of the Quidditch Division Head’s mind. YES! They had managed to secure the deal and he was so excited about it. “Hosting the World Cup is going to require a lot of work and hours. Once we’re prepared to put those in, we’ll be able pull the World Cup off in style.’’

Javi listened to the back and forth quietly, nodding here and there at some of the suggestions. Thankfully he hadn't been attacked by the plant - nope, just turned in to a marine creature. What on EARTH had been the motivation for the Minister to do all that again? Had they ever gotten that sorted out? Not that it really mattered to him, because regardless of his motive, he had still DONE it.
"What's Zumba?" he asked when a break finally presented itself. Whatever it was, it didn't exactly sound like his cup of tea. Working out in general didn't really interest him. He'd been blessed with good metabolism apparently and could eat an entire party sub and still not gain an ounce of weight. He was lucky like that.
OH WHOA, THEY GOT THE QUIDDITCH CUP BID?! Javi's mouth fell open in surprise. He wasn't huge on sports - he'd always liked to watch rather than participate, and even then it could be incredibly boring at times - but this was HUGE! The last time they'd had a World Cup had been...he couldn't even remember! "That's brilliant!" he exclaimed, showing a rare bit of emotion as he grinned in delight. And they got to PLAN it? YAAAAAAAS.

OH WOW, THIS WAS BIG NEWS!!! ASDFGHJKL!!!
This was what was going on in Laila's head! She was so excited! 'Wow, that's great news!,' she said merrily. This looked like it was going to be great fun! Here, in London. Wow!
