Missed the testing at Hogwarts? Were you just a SMIDGE under the age requirement to get your license when Level Six was holding in-school lessons? Never fear! You can simply take a condensed lesson here at the Ministry and before you know it, you'll have your license and be apparating around London in no time!

OOC: Anyone who arrives for Apparition testing MUST be checked in at the Waiting Area before posting in this thread! Please see the Apparition Testing Guidelines for more information on what your character must do in order to be issued an Apparition license at the Ministry.

Lynley waved her wand, moving the desks to the sides of the room so there was clear space for them to practice. This...was going to be a challenge, and to be honest, Lynley was a little nervous about this. She'd never...worked with someone of this caliber with apparition. It would be entirely more difficult for the girl to learn to do this...

In the meantime, she would have to make portkey access easier for her...or at least, keep her applications on file so that IF the girl needed a portkey, things would be smooth and quick for her.

There was a fresh piece of chalk waiting for use, and Lynley crossed her arms over her chest as she waited for Miss Alexandra Eris to show up. Her stomach was bubbling with anxiety.

Vickers entered the classroom and had to prep it for a small class lecture. He positioned the seats and a table so that it felt more like a mentor / mentee session than a full blown class. If Natalia was still feeling nervous, a gigantic classroom can be a distraction on its own.

Now lets just hope she doesnt get lost from turning that corner....

She had finished the parchment and now she was headed down the corridor. Thinking about the directions she was told. Moving along she kept her eyes straight though she glanced around just a bit to see what else was around. The ministry was an interesting place. She wondered if she could explore it a bit more after her first lesson.

She had friends in all of them.

What did she know, well she had been reading up on it and things. "I know it takes focus and mental stability so that you do not end up splintched. It's like a suction feeling that sends you to a place you are picturing and focusing on." Was that a good way to put it? She hoped it was at least. "I like how quick it is. The side effects still make my stomach turn a little." Honesty was a good thing and she didn't want to lie about how she felt.

She would make them all proud that was not pressure at all and the brunette took a deep breath. "Thank you, I'll do my best." Really she was still trying to figure out what joke her head of house was playing getting her picked for this spot. She was going to work hard though and make everyone proud. She'd do her best at least. She wasn't going to let anyone else down. She had done that enough in the last few terms.

She listened to him explain apparition and nodded a few times. Should she be taking notes? She felt like she should be, but she just sat there nodding. If she needed to write something down later she would try to remember. Right now he was explaining things and saying she had gotten most of it correct. This was a good thing and made her glad she did some reading.

When asked the question she took a few minutes, "Destination is the place you are wanting to travel. You need to be visualizing and thinking about it. Determination is your focus and concentration to get to your destination." Now she had to really think about the last one. Pause "I'm not saying its impossible to do that, but one has to be an extremely skilled Witch or Wizard to pull that off successfully per trip. She listened to everything he had said. Appiration to longer distances was dangerous and harder. She knew this, but she couldn't help but wonder if Zay was more powerful then she thought. He did it so easily to New York. She wouldn't be trying it though. "You don't have to worry about that. I have no desire to try to go to far. I have too much going on around here." The band, her internship, the music shop, her boyfriend was here. No need at all to try to appirating to another country.

No thank you!

She looked at the notes and then back up at him, "Oh is it alright to come back in the morning? I need to get to work after lunch." She didn't realize it was going to be an all day thing. She hoped that was alright. "No I have no further questions." With her goodbyes she headed out of the ministry.

Same time same place Natalia walked into the ministry and to level six. It was exam time. She always was nervous about exams. They were so stressful. "Good morning." greeting the receptionist and Vickers as she walked into the room taking the exam from him. Sitting down she tightened her grip on her quill and began writing. What was appiration, well that wasn't too hard. Why do people splinch? She sure hoped she didn't that's for sure. After what seemed like hours, but were only minutes she finished the exam and got up.

"All finished"

That Head Girl Natalia was a smart girl, Vickers knew that from the theoreticals sessions a couple days back, so having her written results in his hand showing that she sailed through the test with flying colors really shouldnt come as a surprise to him. But then the they have come to the trickiest part of the Apparition License process and that is actually disapparating and apparating where one intended to be.

The smaller space he had set up he has now magically expanded, large enough to reveal the practicals area -- an obstacle course designed to develop the skill set that Witches and Wizards need to have to overcome the most basic Apparation challenges found in the real world.

It didnt look too daunting did it? Well he'll find out soon when Natalia comes in today...

Lynley felt him tighten his hold and she...decided against putting him down for now. But the little booger was heavy, and she couldn't carry him around like this all the time. "Wyatt, can you walk for Mummy?" she asked in his ear before giving him a kiss on his cheek.

But they were at the classroom, where the incoming seventh year would be doing her practical portion of the apparition exam. She saw Vickers and gave him a nod since waving was out of the question right now. "Good day, Vickers," she said sternly. "Wyatt, this is my..." did kids know what employees were? "Vickers works for Mummy. He's very nice," she said gently and attempted to put him down. "Vickers, this is Wyatt," and she shot the apparition head a rare smile. "He's accompanying me today while I check in on everything..."

Where was the student they were testing? Was she late yet? Lynley checked her watch and furrowed her eyebrows. And was Gabby here? She thought she heard babies...and the thought of BABIES in her work environment was enough to make her skin crawl.

So today was the day for practicing. She was super nervous. Natalia had gotten up early and had a light breakfast. She was too afraid of puking from the apparition to actually eat something. As she checked in at the Ministry security and made her way to level six Nat thought about turning and heading back out. She was just starting to jinx herself with all of this, but she kept walking and told the receptionist who she was.

Walking to the room she opened the door and went in. That's when she noticed two people were there and not just the same man that had been around. Was there going to be an audience for this? Her eyes set on Mr. Vanderbilt she gave a small smile.

"Hello"

She was quiet for nervous reasons.

He could walk, of course he could but that didn't make him any more willing than he'd been when she first picked him up...not yet...not til he was sure. Naturally, he wouldn't be having any of this putting down business and wrapped his legs firmly around her. They wouldn't be touching the ground til there was consensus. "I wanna stay with Mummy." He mumbled, burying his face in her neck and REFUSING to be dislodged.

If he could stay, he'd stand. If he couldn't then the jaws of life would be needed to get him off her and even then it would be a bit of a challenge.

The thing was, it hadn't quite dawned on the little boy that the fact he was currently here meant he was no longer in danger of being left. In his mind, it could still happen at any point and suffice to say in a place as big as this, he wasn't ready.

Wyatt didn't look over at the man introduced as Vickers, nor did he pay much mind to the girl who walked in shortly after. All his attention was focused on staying RIGHT HERE whatever the cost.

He had just finished setting up the charms around the classroom to allow for Apparating exercises when he felt someone come in. He turned expecting to see the Head Girl but realized it was one far more familiar "Lynley hello--" and one not so familiar "-- hey there Wyatt." he greeted the boy gently with a warm smile. And his boss was checking up on things? Oh good see the obstacle course? Yes the Nerd in Ravenerd was out in full force "Right, yes we have an applicant coming in for her practicals--"

And there she is "Natalia welcome back. Oh this is my boss, Lynley Purcell, with our special little visitor today Wyatt." he said gesturing to the Department Head with her clingy bundle of joy

He handed Natalia a small parchment "Your test results, passed with flying colors. Congratulations on acing the theoretical portion..." he smiled at the younger girl. "But today, we have the Apparition practicals, and you will do it at our set up here...." he started, gesturing at the obstacle course-like behind them. "This three stage course is designed to help you develop basic Apparating skills mimicking a real world environment. Lets start with the first stage...."

SPOILER!!: Apparition Practicals course

"Stage One here-- Hobbiton and Bree, is the most basic Apparating challenge-- moving from one point to another on a leveled surface with no obstructions." He stepped onto the starting point "I am here, and I want to get to Hobbiton. So remember your 3Ds, keep your wand in hand, and turn--" he disapparated with a slight pop, then apparated on the Hobbiton stone tile a few feet forward. "I am in Hobbiton now, and now I want to get to Bree, so turn--" off he popped dissaparating again, then apparated on the stone tile that said Bree. "Simple enough yes?" To him maybe, but to first timers, that could be a whole challenge in itself.

"You're allowed to practice, and then we'll take your Stage One exam ok? If you have any questions, I'm right here." And Lynley too.

Lynley, while very amused and somewhat smug about her child refusing to let her go, sighed and kissed his cheek. "You will stay riiiiiight next to Mummy. Okay? We're just gonna' watch Miss Natalia," she thought that was her name, right? "Apparate." Of course she didn't expect Wyatt to know what that meant, but whatever. Talking to kids was tiring sometimes. "Can I put you down, now?" she asked with an eyebrow raise. "Teddy and Wyatt will stay riiiiight next to Mummy."

The department head flashed the smile she reserved for visitors to her level at Natalia. "Hello. Good luck," she said simply as she sat down in one of the desks.

She watched Vickers do his thing. She was very lucky to have a man so passionate about apparating in his position because THANK MERLIN. She had too much else to do to give it the time and passion it needed. Vickers did the POOF thing, and Lynley smirked at her son. "Did you see him go poof?" she asked softly in his ear. When would Wyatt start noticing magic, she wondered? Or had she done it around him so much it wasn't anything special? Surely SOME magic still had a cool affect on the kid?

Also, she needed to go see if Gabby had her babies here. Babies were not allowed. Wyatt was allowed because he was NOT a baby and he was HERS. SO.

"Hello" She said quietly to the woman and little boy. Children were still a bit off taking to her. She adored Zev and even Gaia, but most children she just wasn't sure about. They were cute for the most part and seemed to like her when in the music shop, but ugh she just wasn't sure. Music was the only baby she wanted to think about for a very long time.

Her eyes fell on Vickers as he said what she would be doing today and she had to swallow a bit to make sure her nerves stayed far away. Very far away. How would Cal react if she ended up splinched. How on earth would Joe react? Gosh no, she couldn't do that. Taking a deep breath she nodded, "Okay"

Pulling her wand out she focused and looked to where she wanted to go. Hobbiton... Hobbiton she said in her head a few times. Making a small turn she disapperated, but Hobbition was not where she came back. Nope, she was in the corner of the room on the opposite side of where the Hobbition location was.

"Well that was.. .interesting" She had side apparated a million times. With Dot, Zay, Alex, Roman.. even more then that, but doing it herself. Yep good choice not eating breakfast this morning. She was going to try again though. She had to try again. Staying right where she was she took a deep breath with her wand in hand and turned.

Looking around to see if she made it the brunette smiled a little to see she apparated to the Hobbiton spot.

Vickers step aside as he allowed Natalia to take her spot, looking momentarily amused at Lynley and her little boy. He focuse his attention at her again... did she seem nervous? Well he could imagine what its like, once upon a time, he had to take his license too and Natalia was showing far more outward resolve than he did....

......... Whoops?

He shifted forward a few steps when he saw the Head Girl apparate way on the other side of the room. Eagle eyes checked if she had nicked herself on her first time apparating all on her own in this room. She looked to be ok? "That's fine, try again." he called out.

And sure enough, she apparated on the right spot. "Good! How are you feeling now?" Messing up is part of the learning process but so is getting things right and confidence building "You can proceed to Bree when you're ready."

Okay so she needed to get to the next area. One mistake wasn't to bad, right? She looked at Mr. Vanderbilt as he asked if she was alright. "I think so, stomach turned a bit, but I'll be fine." She wouldn't lie, but she didn't want to stop either. She looked at the next spot for a few moments saying it in her head. She could do this, she could do this.

Bree she was going to go to Bree. Yes this would work, she could do it. Anther deep breath and she did a small turn. Diapperating she couldn't only hope to be in the correct place. When she reappeared she was not at Bree but right next to Vickers and possibly on the man's foot.

Whoops..

Jumping back so she wasn't on him any longer, "I'm sorry"

This wasn't going to ruin her chances for a license was it?

Stomach churning..... "Thats normal. We have something for emergencies." Or at least he does. She'd realize how very quick with the wand Vickers can be when conjuring sickness bags.

But Nat looks to be not backing down, which is what he is starting to admire a lot about this applicant. He saw her disapparate again but suddenly his vision was filled with NATALIA.

Too close. Personal space breached. Alert! Alert!

He didnt even notice that part about her apparating on his foot. It took a few seconds to stop himself from freaking out and remembering that he is conducting an exam. T-T-Th-Thats O-Ok...." darn it stammering's back. Calm down calm down. "J-J... C-Continue."

Now is not the time for your mental issues Vickers. Pull it together!

Vickers grasped his arms around himself, trying his best to make it look like he just crossed his arms all casual like, and not teetering at the edge of dropping to his side and crawling into a fetal position. You have an examinee! Your boss is right there! Get a grip!

"Good!" he called out, relieved at the success Natalia has achieved after some false starts, but also to force himself to get back to the swing of things. "So you're starting to get the hang of this right? Everything I taught you, the sensation of Apparating.... after several attempts it starts to feel familiar.... starts to become routine. At least he hoped she did.

"When you're ready, kindly take the starting position and take Stage One of your exam."

It was only with assurance and the last few looks of skepticism that Wyatt finally allowed himself to be put down. His legs felt a bit funny from being carried so far and for so long but he didn't mind. It was a simple matter of shaking his legs in a very choppy motion and the matter was resolved.

The three year old latched on to her hand and kept himself pressed against her own leg. Of course he'd gotten the message that she wouldn't be making him leave but it was still a comfort to FEEL her right next to him--and Teddy liked it too.

He'd missed the first poof due to circumstances outside of his control (his preoccupation with staying with her) but now the little boy was perfectly attentive. "WHOA!" The girl, she did a poof! She was there and now she was over theeeeerrrreeeeee. Wyatt tapped vigorously at Miss Lynley's side before pointing towards her and giving his most surprised face.

DID SHE SEE TOO??? Because it happened AGAIN!!!! Wyatt laughed when the girl collided with the man.It reminded him of the colourful people on tv...'cept they didn't tumble over afterwards. "Is she gonna do it again, Mummy?" And what was an exam?

She smiled hearing the kid and winked at him. Wiggling her fingers towards him. She wasn't much of a kid person, but for some reason she didn't mind being around them. Looking back at Mr. Vanderbilt she nodded, she could do this. Walking to the starting point she looked around.

Hobbiton and then to Bree she could do this. Yes, she could. Now the first thing she needed to think about was Hobbition. She could do this. It was exam time. She could do this. She knew she could do this.

It was time...

She thought hard on her destination. Hobbition.... Hobbition... With a little turn holding her wand she poofed. Reappearing she smiled standing where she was suppose to. Now it was time to hit the other target. She could do this.

Bree... Bree

Another turn...

and...

She smiled looking at them. "I did it."

Ah, the reaction she had wanted from Wyatt. He was AMAZED at the poof. Lynley smirked and nodded. "She will do it again, watch," and she pointed at the seventh year....and hoped the girl wouldn't splinch. How traumatic would that be?

She hadn't thought about it before..but she also had faith that Vickers was a good instructor and wouldn't let that happen.

"Are you okay, Vickers?" she asked, because the man still seemed to be...having a mini freak-out. "Do you need a glass of water?" she was already standing to grab him one, certain that Wyatt would cling to her leg the whole time she tried to WALK anywhere. So with her wand she summoned a glass and poured water into it from her wand and then levitated it to Vickers. "You're doing wonderfully," she assured the young girl.

And Vickers, too. That was meant for him, too.

"We need to go check on Mummy's office in a moment," she said softly to Wyatt.
