Default Filing Cabinet

The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes

Accidents and Catastrophes is responsible for repairing and reversing accidental magical damage within the magical and muggle world. Members of this department leap into action when magic spells go awry, particularly when magical effects are spotted by muggles. The department works with other departments to “clean up” the scene of any such event, modifying memories and reversing bewitchments. As necessary, the department creates alternate stories to feed to the muggle press to keep the existence of the magical community a secret. Above all, the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes is tasked with upholding the International Stature of Wizarding Secrecy. In addition to first point-of-contact response to magical incidents, employees of this department deal with experimental magic provisioning, spell testing and registry, event and structure concealment, and memory restoration and manufacture.

Originally the Office of Misinformation was a singular entity under the jurisdiction of the Department of Magical Creatures, but in 2046 it was moved to the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes to better facilitate close working relationships with the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee and the Obliviator Headquarters. He has dark brown hair, and his clothes are well chosen to try and deter from the fact that they're mostly second hand.
Distinguishing Features: A nose that looks like it's been broken more than once.

Personality: A loner who comes across as perpetually angry, Dalton is actually extremely soft hearted - even if he would have you believe otherwise. He doesn't have many friends, but cares deeply for those close to him. He's thorough and decisive when it comes to his work, if not his personal life where he still struggles with his introversion and lack of faith in people. Having had very little money all of his life, and what little he had being spent on housing and food, he is particularly frugal with what he earns, and insists on buying most of things second hand, as though money makes him uncomfortable.
History: Dalton is an orphan who has never known his family: growing up in care, his family was his best friend with whom he shared a room until he received his Hogwarts letter. Although magic explained a lot of his odd 'quirks', Dalton still rejected the idea of it for a long time, attending Hogwarts begrudgingly. He was sorted into Slytherin house, where he became enamoured with potions due to the practical hands-on aspect of the subject, and the fact that seemed to have a natural talent for it. Deciding to pursue it at university was something of a no brainer.
Former Occupation(s):

Samples from the assessment sites should be brought back to the lab for testing, though some tests may be undertaken in the field if it is safe to do so. Marital Status: Married
Wife: Layla Marie Ackerly
Child: Ariadne Lysandra Ackerly
Physical Description: Bambi has fair features, luscious blond hair and striking green eyes. She values her appearance greatly and has regular glamour charms that she applies every morning before work. You'll never catch her in a midriff revealing outfit, but if you come across her at the gym you'll see very pronounced abs, rock hard thigh muscles and toned arms. "The body of a model who didn't give in to the stick figure demands of the industry!" she'll tell you if you were to ask. Oh, did you want tips on healthy living? Feng shui? A handy collection of detailed glamour charms for the cheap price of a coffee date? She'll offer them all!
Distinguishing Features: Freckles! Freckles everywhere! And a kind smile on her face, unless someone's bothered her, then... not so kind smile. Don't bother the Bambs if she's not her sunshine self.

Personality: Drabbles
Bambi's personality, formerly a volatile and unreliable thing, has grown much more steady in the past few years. Bambi makes a decision to smile every morning, to take her time making breakfast when she can, to put effort into her marriage and to pour love and affection into her daughter's life whenever and wherever possible. She's pink and sunshine and flowers and full moons, she's fire and earth, she's determined not to fail. She's late a lot, she's overly organised, she's pushy and opinionated and occasionally brass. She's selfish, she's full of herself, she's protective of her family. The biggest change Bambi has made in her life is realising that this is who she is, and that she's not going to change, and that she loves herself and her family and that's all that matters. Be a good person, stay healthy, be kind and understanding and stand your ground. That is Bambi, and that's what she's trying to teach her daughter. Choose to smile. Choose to laugh. Choose to be successful. Try, try your hardest, and you shall make it in the end.

Hobbies: Bambi's hobbies include the fashion industry as a whole, which she still loves despite giving up her job as a model and presenter following the birth of her daughter. She also enjoys vigorous exercise, spending time with her daughter, date nights with her wife, trashy romance novels and baking (secret ingredient? nutmeg!).

History: Bambi was born at a very convenient 8pm in St. Mungo’s Hospital to Ginger and Stewart Fleming. She was a beautiful baby girl, with large curious eyes and a wisp of blond hair on her head. Quickly after her birth, cleared healthy, Bambi was taken home to Liverpool, where her family lived for around six months before her father finally got his promotion. Stewart Fleming, a longtime employee at the DMIC, became an official diplomatic representative of the British Ministry of Magic overseas; a British Ambassador. His dream.

Of course, this was not the first time Stewart had lived abroad. He’d represented his beloved country and Ministry all over the world, performing a variety of jobs at various embassies and delegations. He’d met Ginger – eleven years his junior – during his stay in Buenos Aires, where she was traveling with friends. They’d fallen in love and had gotten married within the year. Nine months later, exactly seven months after he’d returned to Liverpool to work a temporary job as he awaited for his request to be answered, Bambi was born.

The first memory Bambi possesses the flashing images when they left New Zealand, her father's first post as an ambassador. She remembers standing in the doorway of her kindergarten, looking at multitudes of sad faces who were waving at her with stubby, tiny fingers. She remembers wanting to wave back, but both of her hands were being held. One by a boy with ash hair who had his other thumb in his mouth, and the other by a brunette girl with hazel eyes and a dazzling smile. That girl grew up to be one of Bambi’s best friends, and despite the long distance nature of their friendship they both know they’re friends for life. Her name is Bahia Richardson, and she lives in Toronto.

After New Zealand it was South Korea.

Bambi’s life was made up of moving from place to place. She vividly remembers leaving Seoul, crying herself to sleep for a week, stuck in a temporary apartment in London with no friends as the Flemings' awaited Stewart's predecessor to vacant their new home. After that, she learned to adapt. Make friends, meet people, but always be prepared to leave. France hadn't been too bad, as Beauxbatons had some horrible children whom she'd never wanted to see ever again.

Ilvermorny, her next school, was the place that defined her as a person. It was where she grew up, where she learned heartbreak and sorrow and joy. She met some of her best friends, to this day, at Ilvermorny, and the four years she spent there were some of the most memorable in her life. But even they had to end, and with tearful farewells to her group of wonderful friends, Bambi returned to where it all started: Britain, Liverpool, and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was sorted Ravenclaw, became friends with the likes of Ruby Banner, Benny Blane, Eden McGee and many more. But, more importantly, she met the future love of her life, Layla Ackerly.

Her time at Hogwarts was strange, full of odd experiences and interesting encounters with her peers. Moving directly after sitting the ever difficult JARVEYs at Ilvermorny, she dived headfirst into her NEWTs, and struggled to balance school with having fun, meeting people and engjoying her one year at this infamous establishment.

Meanwhile, her family life took a turn for the worse. Stewart lost his job over a clerical error that had been gravely misunderstood, and the money dried up very quickly after that. Ruby Banner, a friend from Hogwarts, introduced her to some modeling agencies and Bambi's career began initially as a way to keep herself afloat without her parents' help.

When her modeling career took off, everything in Bambi's life changed. Parties, runways, trips around the world, luxury, fame, she had it all. Or at least, it appeared that way. Her relationship with Layla was on the rocks, she barely finished her degree, and her mental state quickly deteriorated. Soon enough, she realised a change was needed before she'd lose herself entirely.

First thing she did was distance herself from everyone who was detrimental to her mental health, everyone who made her feel like she'd never be good enough, that the only place she'd do well in was with them. Secondly, she went and begging Layla to take her back. Third, and probably most importantly for her at the time, she put her running shoes back on. It was a long, steep climb, but her life did slowly change for the better, even more so when her father got reinstated as an ambassador, and her home life starting getting better.

Bambi married Layla in a small, beautifully exquisite ceremony, and it was the happiest day of her life. Her fear of never having children - as Layla did not want any for a while - dissipated a while into their marriage, when they mutually agreed, for the first time, that they will bring a child into this world together. And so, on January 7th in 2094, on a particularly cold early morning, Ariadne Lysanda Ackerly was born.

Nothing else matters but Ariadne and Layla. Bambi left her modeling career in the dust, because she she did not want Ariadne to grow up into that world. She left because she wanted a quiet life with her wife. And, when Ariadne was old enough to start going to daycare, Bambi applied for her first "real person" job at the Ministry of Magic.

Determination, motivation, staying healthy and success, these are the qualities she now lives by.
