Work Areas
|
First post! Feel free to grab! Another seemingly boring day in the office. Aurora was getting very tired, very fast, as days seemed to drag on while she was just sitting in the office areas. She was on her third cup of coffee today already, and it had basically just started. The woman wanted some field work, or something where she wouldn't be cooped up indoors all the time. But alas, that probably wasn't going to happen anytime soon. There have been no major cases that needed attending to recently, and she's been doing her trainings almost constantly. Even that was getting kind of tiring. However, she did need to improve her wandless magic skills, as that would come in handy when she would actually go on the field. You never know when you won't have your wand ready to cast that protego to block a stupefy. Right now, from the looks of it though, Aurora would just be sipping away at her coffee, admiring the ever-changing view from the windows. |

Lex was on her way to the Chief Inspector's desk when she spotted someone...by all means on a coffee break. Nothing wrong with that. In such a high stress job, little breaks were encouraged. Overworked employees seldom produced adequate performance and that would only cause the department as a whole to begin to suffer. "How's the investigation coming?" She asked, slowing just enough so she could hear whatever answer came. The IUOM team was currently occupied, she suspected even now some were out with Hit Wizard or Auror experts. Any update there would be useful. |
You know who Paperwork was a necessary evil sometimes. Well only a half-necessary evil when it was an overwhelming headache. Simon much preferred actually handling things hands on then the reporting of the handling after the fact. But given it helped when people started to question if things were being done right or at all, or they needed a reference to go back to for, it did have some purpose in the long run. Thankfully it was more often than not the former purpose. For now it was the reason he was seated at his desk mid-morning rather than elsewhere in the various levels of the ministry at the current moment. His quill scritch scratching across one parchment or another as he worked, his focused gaze looking over what had been passed off to him in between. |

After she finished her usual morning training, the YATI then approached the working area to find the head of security. Ah, there he was. "Good morning, Mr. Bennett." She greeted the man as she approached his desk. "Is there anything I can do for today?" Since she didn't really have anything to do for now. |

“Good morning, Miss Burton” he said, returning the young woman’s greeting. Did he have something for her today? He leaned back in his chair slightly as he thought, it taking a few brief moments before he had an idea. “Actually yes,” the security head answered, straightening up to his feet. “I think we should look into some exterior perimeter spells,” he added as he closed a folder around his work and secured it in his desk. He could use a break and his charge learning something new or improving on her knowledge was good too. |

This was better than serving coffee at the coffee shop, right? Let's hope so. Ava had to drop of her part-time because of this extra assignment. And no, she's not complaining about that. |

“Well there are several different types of spells that go into the perimeter security of the Ministry of Magic,” he said, answering her question, or at least starting to as they headed out of the office. “Those meant to keep the workers inside safe and to keep those on the other side the same way.” With some of the matters the ministry dealt with, like mutants and mind-controlling brains and altered plants, both were greatly needed. “As well as keeping wizards and muggles alike from entering the place against our will.” |
Free post! This newly minted Auror (of a few months) didn't currently have any cases to work on. So, where was Ronan? Sitting at his newly minted (also of a few months) desk, feet propped up on the top, leaning back and napping. Though if asked, he'd say he was merely meditating. He would never admit to sleeping on the job. Or being bored enough to do so. Might end up being assigned some busy work like organizing. Blegh. Not that he minded organization as a concept. Anyway.... ....zzzzzzzzzz...... |
>:) Quote:
There had to be someone. She wasn't going crazy. It wasn't just in her head. Also not in her head? Carter having himself a good 'ole snooze fest. Honestly, did her Aurors not know how to keep busy? This was how free time was spent? No attempts at training or self improvement? No offers to help out with ongoing cases? THIS? Calmly--could you tell how calm? SO CALM--Lex moved over to his chair, silent. BOOOM! The Department Head set off a loud bang just behind him, taking a careful step back and waiting for him to rejoin her among the class of people that tended to stay awake during the work day. She. Was. Not. Amused. |
;p For the record, Ronan was all for self-improvement. For example, this he could look back on as a lesson to never, ever let his boss catch him sleeping on the job again. As it was though, in the moment the loud boom had him practically leaping out of his chair, wand out of its holster and in hand in a flash. "Huh?" Auror senses alert, he scanned the room quickly for whatever had made that noise before laying eyes on Alexa and putting two and two together. "Mmm, just meditating. What do you need?" he asked, picking up his chair which had fallen in his haste to get to his feet and sitting back down. Boss lady did not look amused. At all. |
Boss lady was definitely not amused, nor was she buying the meditation. "I'd hope you're slicker than that out in the field, at least." She said, a scowl in place. Sometimes aurors went under cover. If they lied like Carter...not as many would go home. "I need you to find a productive means of spending your time in the office but you don't seem up to the task of self occupation." And she wasn't going to wait for him to learn. "Aurors don't sit around and "meditate" when there's a whole world out there and if I was someone else, you'd be dead right now. I don't mind reassigning you to another division if that's more your speed." Liked sleeping in the office? She'd give him something that afforded him all the time to sleep--if he dared try it again, that is. "Come on, I'll find you something." Lex began moving through the office once more, expecting him to follow. It wasn't a suggestion, nor was it a request. |
Damn, she hadn't bought it. "Of course." She had simply caught him with his guard down. Which was definitely something he was going to work on, that went without saying. As was the whole 'sleeping on the job' thing. Ronan fought the urge to groan as he stood and followed Alexa solemnly. He felt he knew what was coming. Busy work. He was berating himself already for not finding something himself, even if it meant patroling Diagon. Which was most likely the point. |
In a department like magical law enforcement, one may be able to marvel at the sleek efficiency ingrained in the level's operations. Even the memos that fly in and out of this level have an air of urgency and organisation--except today. Without warning, some memos burst into flames, their ashes sprinkling to the ground in delicate fashion. These are the lucky memos. Oddly enough, some begin to rip themselves apart until they are nothing but heaps of scraps and ripped parchment. Hopefully, no one was planning to read these. Did it seem like there were less interdepartmental memos than usual? That may have been because most weren't making their way to the department at all. Gone. Vanished. Burnt. Who knew at this point. No better time to get back to that good ole fashion face to face interaction. |
Feel free to grab! *tap click click* *tap click click* Finally! Roselynn was behind ecstatic to be able to walk into the Ministry under her new job title! She had gotten accepted as a Junior Investigator for the IUMO. Although, the original plan was to get Senior Investigator, the brunette figured that she would have to start off in the lower position, gain some experience, and then work her way up. Which, that is now the goal in mind. That would be a dream come true for her. But, Roselynn would want to go even beyond Senior Investigator and aim for Chief sometime! However, that was a long term goal that would take a few years. It's something that she'd definitely be looking forward to though. *tap click click* The sound of her cane and feet walking against the floor of the office flew through the air. Not too loud to be considered a distraction, but loud enough to make her presence known. Roselynn made a bee line towards her desk, and started to get settled in. Setting her journal, a quill, and a few pencils all out on the desk; she opened the notebook and started to jot some notes for later down. She was curious as to what her first assignment would be, and when it would happen. |

Ah yes…one of the newer hires. “Good morning,” the security head greeted, deciding not to be so antisocial as some might take him as. His age and years in the department tended to distance him from the younger crowd. |

Even though she loved the sound of it, she did decide to leave her cane standing by her desk. It wasn't magically standing there, but the bottom was fashioned so that way it could stand up on it's own if the user had wanted it to. Roselynn couldn't help but give the man a very quick look up and down. Nothing too unusual, and not in the way that she was checking him out. Just the normal thing most people do when meeting a new person, and getting to see who they were speaking with. Either way, she outstretched a hand toward's him and said "The name's Roselynn. Roselynn Voss." A welcoming smile, and a nod was added as well. "I'm one of the new investigator's here. Who do I have the pleasure of meeting on this fine morning?" She squandered, curious as to who he could be. Was he the Head of the department? Or just another investigator such as herself? No matter who he was though, she finally got to meet someone else in the department though; and was happy about it. For a second, the place had almost seemed as dead as a graveyard. |

Best not to be clueless lest it run him into any sort of trouble. “Nice to meet you, Miss Voss,” he returned, accepting her outstretched hand with one of his own and shook it. “Simon Bennett,” the former auror answered to her inquiry, “Head of Security around these parts.” A job he took quite seriously even if others didn't always think it was. |
LOUD and echoing, the almighty caterwauling rattled work stations and the jaws of any of those who remained behind after the emergency errand to Azkaban. An alarm that Ministry personnel would know signaled trouble and discourse in Diagon Alley and specifically with regard to the infamous wandshop of Ollivanders. .....but was there anyone left to hear the cry for help? |
