Caleb reached the outside of the office. He blinked. Okay...he went up to the door and knocked three times and then waited for a response. Nobody answered his airplane so he wondered if he went straight to the source if that would be okay.

Ryder looked up from his desk as he heard the knock at the door. Perfect, exactly three knocks just as he had requested. Ugh, so many knocks or too little. It had to be precise. He was sure it was the young man that had sent him the owl prior. "Come in." he called out as he rose from his seat to greet him.

Caleb mentally nodded. It was at the end of the year and according to the prophet, Hogwart's "new staff" was taken care of. At least he knew his little sister was safe. Hopefully, at least. So he could focous on his problem at hand. He opened the door and walked inside. A quick glance around out of curiosity. The office was very organized. Caleb blushed. He felt bad now, for sending that owl. He looked at the man in fron of him.
"Good afternoon Mr. Um..." He frowned. He did not know his name. Either that or he was blind as he did not see any plaque anywhere.
"I do apologize for the owl," he said. "I just...I trust owls more then papper airplanes," he said.

He stepped forward when the boy entered and nodded offering him his hand in greeting "It's McCullough." he was brief and to the point but not as far as being rude. He just was a man of action and sometimes it made him seem unkind. "Won't you have a seat?" he offered nodding to a seat near his desk. "Everyone has their own preference." he said with a shrug as he moved behind his desk.

"Owls are most likely to arrive precisely where you need them." he added taking a seat. "Caleb is it? What brings you here today?"

Caleb smiled a bit. "Thank you sir," he said and sat down where he had offered.
Caleb nodded.
"I was requesting if there were any positions available in law enforcement," he said.
Was that correct? He didn't know.
He kept his hands on his legs, careful to not shift anything out of place. ,

He folded his hands on his desk and nodded at the thank you, he sat listening as Caleb spoke and nodded as well. "There are a lot of entry positions, depending on what area of interest you have. There are positions in each division from secretary and aide to junior investigator."

He was grateful that the boy was not touching anything. He probably should not be calling him a boy in his head either, but he looked so young. "What area did you have in mind?"

Caleb nodded as he listened to the man talk.
"Yes, well, that's the problem I'm coming across," Caleb said. "I wouldn't exactly be sure."
He knew that wasn't the best answer but it was the only one he had.

Ahhhh, now that explained it. A lot actually. He had been exactly where this b...man was at right then, many years ago. He had not had anyone either that could really talk to him about his options either. Well, Ryder could do at least what he could right? It had not been as bad as he had thought back then, why would it be any different now?

"Well, how were your OWLs and NEWTs?" he asked before reaching down into the drawer beside him and flipping through some files.

Caleb looked back at the man after having his head down. For sure that would be considered a dumb answer right? No? Awesome. Okay.
"Most of them I got O's in except muggle studies where I got an A in," he said.
He was never good with muggle studies all that wrll but he got by.

He offered the kid ugh, man... one of his rare smiles when he looked back up at him. "That is a great start. Those will most definitely help, even if you took a hit in Muggle Studies. Do you have an area such as charms or transfiguration or even potions that you took a bigger interest in?"

Oooooh. Okay. That makes more sense now! Caleb smiled a bit and nodded. "Yes sir. I'm interested in magical creatures mainly," he said. Yeah. He loves magical creatures meanwhile his sister loves divination, which is weird.

Magical creatures? Why was he in MLE if that was the case. Only area that he really had there was animagus registry... "Yet, you're in law enforcement? Is there a particular reason you chose MLE for your interest?" he asked curiously. He had not expected the words magical creatures to come from Caleb's mouth. "The only particular area we have to do with any sort of magical creature in the slightest would be our animagus registry division."

Caleb nodded. Okay. Whoops.
"I'm interested because my sister sent home letters about her being abused at Hogwarts..." He trailed off.
"It was more or less, a spur of the moment desision. If I could help prevent something like that in the future..." He blushed trailing off. This was a mistake.

He nodded again when Caleb spoke "I understand where you are coming from completely. We all feel so helpless when we are not right there to fight or even protect those we love." Love being a strong word. "It is not a bad decision, every department here in the ministry need people like you who are determined to be there to help and do what you can."

It could have helped prevent some of the things he had heard about in the past at Hogwarts, such as the acromantula attacks years back.

Caleb nodded, sighing a bit in relief as his face cooled down.
"So..." He didn't exactly know how to ask with out being obvious. He started figiting his thumbs. "Could there be anywhere for me to go? I mean as far as a possible posision?" He asked.

He could tell that Caleb was losing his nervousness a little. Ryder really was not a difficult person to work with, though he was hard on his staff. “Unless you really have an urge to want to work with animagi in MLE I would suggest speaking possibly with the department head of Magical Creatures. I think Mr. Kennedy would be a great help with finding a good position for where you would work best in.”

Caleb nodded.
He was starting to get less nervous now. At his mention of Mr. Kenedy, Caleb nodded again.
"Thank you sir. I think I'll do that, yes," he said.
Caleb wondered if he should be the first to get up or let Ryder get up first so he hessitated a bit.

He smiled gently at the young man, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" he asked as he rose to his feet. At least the man had started his route with finding the position he had desired. He was on his way and hopefully would find the perfect fit.
