Evidence & Pensieve Rooms EVIDENCE & PENSIEVE ROOMS |
Moooving us here Quote:
Entering the room on the right, she turned to look at him. "Our logs have fallen behind again. Horrendously behind. I'd hoped for volunteers to get things back on track," she was talking YEARS of pile up, "and I'm glad you so graciously decided to free your schedule enough for the job." She moved over to the first set of shelves. "These need re-alphabetizing. When you're done, collect all the expired warrants, make notes, redo them, hand them over to the hit wizards or the aurors depending on case. Make as many stops over to forensics as needed, make sure the logs line up, find out if anything's been omitted." She gestured with a finger for him to follow then began moving down the aisle. "Some of these cases will expire soon. Find them, bring them to someone's attention. The dust you find while you work, clean it. You're off field duty until this is all done. Tell your friends. They're like to join you if I catch any of them pulling off what you tried." Though perhaps the boy would like company. Who else could she spare? More to the point, who else needed a wake up call? "We clear?" |
Following his boss, Ronan could help but notice that she seemed preoccupied. Deciding that whatever was on her mind wasn't really any of his business (and hoping that decision didn't come back to bite him like napping was about to) and that he was in enough trouble already, he kept silent. Nope, not even groaning when he was assigned to basically clean & organize the evidence room. Which.....just how long had it been like this? Following her down the aisle, he felt thankful that one of his allergies wasn't dust. There was a lot of the stuff around. Wait, what?! Off field duty?! Until this was done?! But this would take forever! "Yes, boss." Message received. Naps not allowed. |
Intern TL, MLE welcome to join ^^ Let it never be said that Alexa Cambridge So she took the long way, ensuring they covered other places first. "And here," Lex stated as she moved into this place, "is the evidence room. Across from here is the pensieve. No you're not allowed to view things willy nilly, in fact I'd like you to keep your focus on this room for today. There's an auror who's meant to be working in here, you'll be helping out. Light stuff to get you acquainted into the law enforcement gig." Light...menial....same thing. It was a job someone had to do and Alexa wasn't entirely willing to waste her employees when there was other sources of help readily available. "How good are you with paying attention to detail?" |
Such encouraging words Eloise was hearing as she stayed quiet in the Cambridge's office, its almost as if the woman didnt want any interns at all. The evidence was certainly pointing to that in Eloise's mind. The red-head was waiting for someone else to come in the office like another student her age so it wasn't just her abut nope only her. Not fun at all and like half the woman's wish. Tho she followed the woman out and really the only two places Eloise wanted to know where they were was bathrooms and food. Two most important. Other than that everything was just fine Wonder if there was anything cool she could touch or wander off to. Shame it was just a standard tour and they got to the room or wherever the destination was...which was obviously the evidence room since Cambridge just said it. Funny how that works. "So what kind of stuff you usually keep in here besides the pensieve?" Eloise asked looking around...she didn't really care much about the pensieve since she did know how to work one anyway. Oh right she asked a question. "Good, but paying attention to what specifically??" All the questions |
Said Auror was tucked in the back, trying to remove a particularly stubborn moth from the premises. No matter how many times he tried to swat the thing (using a bug swatter of course, he wasn't an animal), the bug moved at the last minute. Frustrating, to say the least. 'Light'. Ha ha. Had the person Alexa brought in with her really asked that question? "Rather obvious by the name, isn't it?" Ronan piped up, moving from behind the shelves the moth had decided to make its latest perch upon. After all, it was called the evidence room for a reason. Also, wasn't it a department rule that people who weren't in the department weren't allowed in here? And this person wasn't a part of the department, couldn't be. She didn't even look old enough to be out of Hog-wait a minute. "You're the intern, right?" Great, so as well as playing maintenance, he was playing babysitter. Lovely. |
"We don't keep the pensieve in here, that's across the corridor back there." Lex corrected with a raise of her brow. She'd just gotten done explaining as much to the girl and yet that was the question she chose to ask. "I suppose that answers my second question just fine." Not very good at details or paying attention for that matter. And there he was. Little wonder Carter hadn't gotten the memo she'd sent to his desk. He was already over here getting a jump start on his work. She supposed diligence like that should be rewarded but perhaps...when she no longer needed a babysitter. "Carter, Fairfield. Fairfield, Carter." Introductions. There. "I thought you could use some help over here, though I'm no longer sure how much help she'll be. She's already gotten the tour of the place. Consider her your shadow for the week." She'd work something out for the following week depending on the needs of the department, or lack thereof, but for now, this was a good enough place to stick the kid. "Consider it a mini promotion of sorts, your pay will reflect as much for the duration." Afterall, he would technically be taking on a supervisory role, albeit a glorified one. "You listen to everything Carter says. He'll show you the ropes. The things that need doing. Don't touch anything he hasn't given you permission to touch. MLE is big on command and ranking. On working as a team and knowing how and when to follow orders. We're a disciplined bunch." Most times. "Any questions?" From either of them. |
It would be nice of she explained things better because right now she was worse than any professor at Hogwarts and that was saying something honestly. Bet she got paid more than them and did an even worse job. Which does sound nice actually. Not even giving her time to abosrb anything. Why even bring it up than. First time through the department and make one small mistake.....and only listening to half of what she said...which is on brand for adults in general. Now someone else was here and Eloise was in a mood just just look deadpan at everyone here. So back to normal mostly. "Yeah" Pretty obvious since she doubted Cambridge liked being with children at all at this point and she still only 16. Greaaaaaat internship this is turning out to be so far. Head of the Department being as brief as possible and now this one with horrible jokes. Whats next. Actually best not know Just greaaat. "Noooope" Not like she would answer it anyway. |
While the employees have their little chit chat, a shuffling sound comes from the opposite end of the evidence room. It resembled the sound of shuffling, papers being moved against each other and finally, someone bumping into something. Just how many of you were in here? Just as quickly as the noise is heard, it disappears and the sound of foot steps fade. Shame you've blocked the exit. How is anyone meant to escape under circumstances like that? Hm? |
Considering the question that had popped out of the girl's mouth, this was probably the best place for her, he had to admit. Also, he liked the sound of a promotion, even one prefaced by the word mini. "Nope, no questions here, boss." It was then he heard an extra sound in the room. One that sounded like shuffling feet. Human feet. Quickly followed by the sound of someone bumping into something. Pretty sure there was someone else in the room, the sounds had been too loud for a mouse or a rat even, Ronan stealthily removed his wand from its holster and cast a silent revealing spell. This hidden person might think it was a shame the exit was blocked, but he considered it lucky. |
"Good." If there were no questions, she could leave them...to...it. Hazel eyes flashed to the corner she'd heard the noise, instinctively now on high alert. It was the life of an auror. Even the most unassuming things could become a threat and the difference between a live and a dead auror was how they decided to handle the situation and how seriously they took it. She'd been about to ask Carter who else he had working in here with him but after seeing him cast, something told her he wasn't expecting anyone else. It sent the hairs at the back of her neck rising and gave her the oh so familiar feeling of adrenaline beginning to bubble within her. An overreaction without cause, maybe, but Lex would rather feel silly in hindsight than regret not putting enough urgency into things. The department head waited a moment but when no one appeared and the steps seemed to vanish altogether, it became clear they would have to coax their intruder out. Forgetting Fairfield for a moment, Lex put a finger to her lip and gave a nod of her head indicating for Carter to follow silently before she too began making slow and calculated steps toward the suspicious shelf. Anyone in MLE would have by now realized the suspicion they were like to arouse and would have moved to reassure that it was only them rather than risk having their heads accidentally blown off. Whoever was behind there was definitely not meant to be. |
The revealing charm turns up nothing for the simple fact it was aimed in the wrong place, missing the intruder my mere inches. A relief for the one trying to be hidden but even he knew it wouldn't last for long. Infiltrating MLE wasn't done on a whim. The moment they had gone quiet, he knew he was on borrowed time and sought to do something about that. An explosion rings out behind the shelf. Loud and reckless. It's the action of a desperate man with everything to lose. Should you go behind that shelf, you'll find a wide gaping hole that leads out into the work areas. Better hurry! |
Eloise was hearing things now and looking around because it seems it was not just her hearing things seeing the old ones in the room where also and look how focused Cambridge was. Now she had many questions like what was merlin name was going on...but she kept quiet because something was not right. She was just going to let the two old ones to their job and she was going to watch. It seemed like a good plan. Until the explosion O___o Uh...well she sucked a breath in from shock and merlin this was more shock and weirdness than anything she could ever hope for outside of Hogwarts or Beauxbatons in the case. Where they going to go see what it is? |
There was no way in Merlin’s beard something like that wouldn’t be checked out. The explosion set Lex off on a different level. Someone had blown a freaking whole through evidence and was now loose on the level—soon to be the whole ministry. Abandoning some caution and stealth as well as now completely forgetting that Fairfield was evening standing there, the department head darted off. There was no pausing at the gaping whole, only boldly hurrying through it to end up back in the work area. On the way through, she cast several of her own revealing charms hoping to get lucky and catch even a glimpse of whoever she might be after. She hoped the rest of the department was on their toes. This was now a full on chase and apprehension. Who knew the intern could get so lucky on the first day? Not so lucky for everyone else. Alexa didn’t want to be burdened with the task of keeping the kid alive while she tried to wrangle whoever the hell had had the gall to infiltrate MLE and destroy it on the way out. This would not be taken lightly. |
