Conference and Meeting Rooms

Down this hallway, there are two meeting rooms: a conference room and a meeting room. The conference room is more of a lecture hall arrangement, perfect for presentations, for touching base with the entire department (as the seating magically increases to suit the number of room occupants), and for press conferences. There is a lectern near the front where a speaker may stand. The meeting room by contrast has the predictable large table surrounded by seats similar to what you will find on other levels.

Both of these rooms feature magical projectors and screens, as well as discreet doors which lead to the preparation room. Entrance to the preparation room is magically barred as this room leads to the minister's office and to the senior undersecretary's office, though special speakers will have access on a case-by-case basis.

If you would like to reserve one of these rooms for an event or a meeting, please contact the reception desk.

for le interns and le boss

Fletcher was the first one here, naturally, as it was his job to set up this thing. He was carrying a tray of delicate teacups and saucers, napkins, fancy tea bags, honey, sugar cubes, and shiny baby tongs for the cubes, as well as all the other fixings for tea. Floating behind him was a full teapot of very hot water. Also behind him was a floating giant platter of a variety of bagels, both savory and sweet, and then a smaller platter of bagel toppings, including cream cheese, marmalade, butter, and all the other toppings that make bagels extra delicious. There was also a stack of memo papers for some reason.

The junior undersecretary set down the tea platter, and then directed his floating items to a gentle stop on the table so he could begin to set all these things up on the conference room table, arranging them artfully toward one end where the interns might sit, including setting up the teapots and teacups the best way he knew how, which was no way in particular except that the teacups were sitting on the saucers and the tea was somewhat in the middle of it all. The stack of papers he left in a stack and set them to the left of where he was going to sit, somewhere in the middle of the table.

Annnnnnnnnnd now he could sit down and wait, and also help himself to the first bagel because why not? This was his great contribution to today.

Missa was not late. In fact, she had been really really early. A thing she had insisted on doing because she had been very paranoid about everything going wrong.

So, instead she had hovered outside the ministry for quite a bit and even had some awful cart coffee before making her way inside. She had hoped to get a bit lost to waste away some more time but she had been to the ministry enough times to know where was what.

Awkward hellos and a tour later though, she found herself pushing a door open to the main conference room - a place they had been told to meet next. And maybe, MAYBE they will finally even meet the minister of magic next.

This was all VERY exciting, despite her nervousness - and it all showed on her face as she met the gaze of the ONLY other person in the room.

"Oh hello" she greeted the man, immediately moving toward him to offer her hand to shake. A FIRM SHAKE. "Missa Renaldi" She introduced herself.

Cole had been right on time. It had looked like for some very stressing and sweat rising minutes that he'd be late. Luckily his aunt had swooped by and saved him from making a fool out of himself in front of Ms Bones and everyone else. After the initial grand tour of the building alongside Missa from school, Cole was glad to be in the right place. His sense of direction wasn't usually bad, but his giant nervousness for this summer internship was definitely impacting it. He was very relieved when he after many wrong turns finally found the right door in the Minister's offices for where they we're supposed to meant next.

Taking a long breath, smoothing down his blond locks, and making sure his clothes looked in order Cole pushed down the door handle to the conference room. Heading inside he saw that Missa was already there, getting acquainted with an unfamiliar man. Approaching them Cole addressed the elder man first with a nervous smile and an outstretched hand. "Hello, Sir! I'm Cole Vance." To his fellow intern he said "Hi again, Missa!"

level one darlings

Fletcher had finished half his bagel when the first intern arrived. He hastily set down the other half and stood up, dropping a few crumbs from his suit as he stood. Eh, no big deal. Everyone knew everything bagels had their faults.

He cleared his throat a little as he shook the hand of the first intern. "Miss Renaldi, a pleasure to meet you. I'm Junior Undersecretary Fletcher." Just Fletcher. No first name, no no. And look, there was the second intern. Brilliant timing, Cole. "Mr. Vance, glad you could make it." He shook the boy's hand firmly as well.

Andddddddddd then sat back down. "Please, have a seat, both of you. Help yourselves to some tea and bagels while we wait for Senior Undersecretary Bones." That's right, he was going to use everyone's titles today. Totally fancy. And also, they could make conversation, right? Properly dry workplace stuff. "So, what years are you two at Hogwarts?"

He remembered his own internship fondly...

January had been collecting a few things for the interns, but she knew that Fletcher would be just fine at getting the meeting room ready. Besides, she kind of wanted to see how he would do with teenagers. The thought was amusing to her.

But she wouldn't make them wait too long. January entered the conference room, pleased to see Fletcher and the two interns getting along just fine. She smiled at them. "Hello, again. I see you met Fletcher." She was SO VERY tempted to slip in his first name there, purely because she knew he hated it. But she decided to be nice.

"Ooh, bagels." How very kind of Fletcher to do those.

January took a seat by Fletcher and reached for a plain bagel and some cream cheese, spreading it around while the interns and Fletcher finished introducing themselves. January pushed the stack of memos to the center of the table. "Everyone take a few of these. We're going to get these sent out." Then she waved her hand to the interns and took a bite of her bagel.

Mr Vance....

It took a while before Cole understood that Fletcher meant him. It was his father that got called Mr titles not him, but he supposed he needed to get used to it. Cole quickly sat down and helped himself to a bagel. He liked tea usually, but he didn't feel like any right now. He and Missa we're intering around these people that goverened the whole ministry and magical things in Britain. It was pretty cool, but a bit daunting too, because he didn't want to make mistakes. Munching on his bagel Cole glanced sideways at Missa to see if she was going to respond to Fletcher's question. When she didn't he said confidentley turning his blue eyes to the man. "I'm starting my fifth year as a Gryffindor in september."

It was then that Mrs Bones entered and joined them at the table. Still munching on his bagel Cole took time to swallow before he eyed the stacks of memos interestedly. Grabbing a few of them he asked curiously. "Who shall we send these memos too and how Mrs Bones?" Did the ministry have their own army of owls or we're they supposed to go by foot?

Charles had been working on some more paperwork in his office, urgent notices regarding the aftermath of Hogwarts and Beauxbatons' joint academic term and the letter from his grandson that may as well have been a howler considering the strong opinions jumping off the parchment. Though not in entire disagreement, all he could do was petition the Board of Education on the matter of the Beauxbatons headmistress to bring her under scrutiny. It was easy enough to get the necessary signatures and the press had been absolutely ripping the situation to shreds.

Something else he needed to get better under control.

But right now it was all about the interns. January had informed him that they had a rather on brand task and the Minister was very interested in seeing if any one of these youngsters could do what none of the Maintenance people had seemed to be able to manage - charm and send out reliable interdepartmental memos. It truly was a curious phenomenon inconveniencing the Ministry for the past few months. Though inconvenience was a bit of an understatement when important and time sensitive materials got lost, it was why he had resorted to hand delivering things and expected the urgency to be reciprocated.

Coffee in hand, Charles thought he would spare the interns more offerings of his homemade individually wrapped yogurt covered raisins and stepped into the conference room with a BROAD smile plastered across his face.

"Gooooood day," he greeted, nodding towards January and Fletcher who were in charge of all these happenings. "Cole...Alana," he greeted them both with affectionate, but firm, hands on their shoulders. "Be interested to see what you make of these."

He would just continue to stand, looooooooooom, and sip on his coffee.
