Here at the Leaky Cauldron things can get pretty busy, and, for Louisa, this is exactly the case. For this purpose, a few changes have been made and now customers may come to the counter to place their orders, so as to keep the chaos down and keep things less hectic for the busy workers and their customers.

In the center of the room sits the baby of the Leaky Cauldron - baby grand piano that is. It is not unusual to enter the Leaky Cauldron and see costumers playing away at the piano. However, this piano is widely special, even for the Wizarding World. Years ago, Ryoma, former owner Harley's partner, built it by hand and therefore as one plays each key the ivory gives off a little puff of colored smoke that rises up into the air and form shapes that begin to tell a story to the music.

Off to the side of the room, a cozy fireplace and seating area can be found for those looking to relax a bit before heading off to the busy shops of Diagon Alley. At various times throughout the day, Louisa will drop by with a tray of assorted snacks for those sitting by the fireplace to enjoy.

OOC: Please do NOT RP for Louisa. Doing so will cause your post to be edited or deleted depending on the severity. The piano is free for all to use so have fun with that and enjoy yourself. Also, please remember that Louisa does NOT take orders at the tables. You must go the Bar and Service Counter for that.

And a very IMPORTANT warning. Please please PLEASE make sure you have read all SS rules - especially those involving drinking. There will be a zero tolerance policy in regards to this rule.

He needed to be more careful. As for now, he didn’t let his gaze waver from Conley; every movement was taken in: the way the arms were folded, his stance as he leaned on the table... Sachin knew he should stop staring but he couldn’t help it. “You should make yourself a priority, you know. Tell you what. I’ll go with you if you’d prefer company as motivation.’’ He was okay with swimming though his main sport was cricket. “Oh. I didn’t know about that. Mera matalab... I mean, I’m not privvy to that sort of information usually but I guess I’ve been very busy to notice that a replacement hasn’t been picked as yet.’’ He felt sorry for Conley and wished he could help but the only way he could was by keeping their conversation confidential. Sachin wasn’t sure that his boss was supposed to go about talking about the nitty gritty of the job.

The Ambassador smiled a slow smile. “I don’t talk much about myself. It’s the house I grew up in since I was a little boy after I moved from India. Jorge, he works at the Daily Prophet, needed a place to stay and I offered him. He takes care of the place when I’m not around so it’s a win-win situation.’’ Sachin took another swig of his tea before shaking his head. “Not as yet. I think I’ll look into that tomorrow.’’

There was something about Sachin that was making the booth feel a bit….incommodious. Conley wasn’t sure what is was though. Perhaps he should have kept his venting to himself. But it was too late now, and well, Conley decided to use the incident as a test of character for Sachin. As it was he felt his chest tighten a little as he sat back, uncrossing his arms. The offer of a workout buddy was welcome. ”Do you box?” Conley asked. It’d been years since he spared with anyone and it might be fun to pick it up again.

Ah, so the man hadn’t jumped on the ticket wagon. Conley knew that the tickets had gone quickly. He wasn’t even sure if any where available. He, however, as a department head, had been granted two tickets to the Minister’s Box. And he had nobody to go with. ”Well,” he said perhaps a bit shyly. ”If you weren’t planning on going with anyone, I’ve got an extra ticket.”

Just then, he noticed his food was ready. ”Ah, be right back.” He scooted to the edge of the table and stood up. [b]”Would you like another Chai?” he asked before walked off to get his dinner.

And so, the topic of the vacant Ambassador spot was dropped. Sachin let it because he didn’t want Conley to spill any information that he wasn’t supposed to. He let his eyes wander around the pub just for the heck of it... and to make it seem as though he was being normal. It was a challenge not to stare at Conley as the boss sat back. Only when asked the question on boxing did he casually look back. “Nahin. No... I’ve only got into cycling and cricket.’’ Sachin didn’t know why it was so easy for him to talk about himself to Conley; he was usually a private man. Not even Jorge knew details of his life.

In truth, Sachin had been going back and forth with regards to attending the World Cup. He hadn’t been fussy and had been supporting India from the beginning. If they made it to the finals, he’d be one pleased guy. Surprise crossed his face when Conley offered him the extra ticket. The surprise turned into a pleased one, complete with a wide grin that lit up his face. “That would be great! Thank you.’’ Surely Conley would have gotten tickets to the best seats.

“Yes, please. Masala chai if it’s not too much trouble.’’

A few minutes later, Conley returned carrying a dish with shepherds’ pie and another glass of Marshal chia. Setting both down, he slid back into he booth. ”I hope you don’t mind,” he said settling himself again. ”But I didn’t get the chance to eat lunch. ” He had always felt awkward eating when his company had no food.

He took a bite, chewed, swallowed, then said. ”So cycling?” Conley had never ridden a bike and he knew absolutely nothing about cricket. Except that it was an insect that was used in some potions. He wasn’t going to admit that though. The last time he had admitted not knowing something had been the Chicken McNugget incident with Nickles and well, he hadn’t come off looking very good in the event. ”I tried riding a bike once, it didn’t go well. I believe my father said my brother had done something to the chain.” He didn’t know why he was telling Sachin this story. ”After that, I stuck to broomsticks. “

While Conley had been away, Sachin had forced himself not to stare after him but instead concentrated on finishing his tea. His nerves were gone; his heart rate back to normal. It had always been easy to talk to Conley but he reasoned that the particular factor of him being attracted to the Department Head was why he had gotten nervous. The Ambassador looked around as Conley came back. “Thanks. Mujhe koee aapatti nahin hai. No, I really don’t mind.’’ There was a wave of pity that overcame him. His boss was so busy that he hardly had time for himself.

For a moment, Sachin was unsure of where he should laugh or look sorry that Conley had had such a bad experience with bikes. He settled for another slow smile. “Well, rest assured, Conley, that I am not like your brother. You didn’t even try it back once?’’ He was curious as he worked on the second glass of tea. “I mean, I’d understand if you’d prefer for us to do something else if cycling bothers you.’’ Sachin, out of habit, reached up to rumple his dark hair.

His funny story about the bike didn’t elicit a laugh from Sachin and Conley found himself a bit disappointed and more oddly, a bit confused about why he was disappointed. Perhaps it wasn’t as funny sounding as he thought it had been. ”No, I guess I was worried Nate would do it again.” He took another bite of his food. ”Nate wasn’t the doting big brother. In fact, I always thought he was trying to get rid of me.” Yes, Nate had always liked Lon better, despite the younger siblings issues with muddlebumps. Years of analyzing things had made Conley determine it was his bookish way that turned off Nate. ”Nate was - is,” he corrected himself and then paused to think of the correct way to put it, and also to defend him. He was family after all. ”More of a physical sort than intellectual.”

He wasn’t sure about Sachin’s offer to help him learn to ride a bike. He wasn’t exactly keen to make a fool out of himself trying to balance on a bicycle. ”I’ve used a stationary bike,” They had one in the gym at the ministry. He still preferred swimming, but in a pinch it was better than running. Conley hated to run. ”What’s the farthest you’ve biked?”

Little did Sachin know about the thoughts raging through Conley’s head. In truth, he hadn’t wanted to laugh because he was afraid he might have hurt Conley’s feelings. “I’ve heard that older siblings sometimes think the younger ones are a nuisance. It’s not only you that’s had that issue, I’m certain. Is Nate any better towards you now?” Surely since Nate was older, he was wiser now and valued his brother more? Sachin never had any blood relatives that he was aware of so he couldn’t say for sure how exactly some families worked out things. Families were just too complicated anyway.

“Stationary bikes are no fun,’’ he said as a joke. “Um, let me think.’’ Half of the tea was gulped down as he quickly tried to remember the distance of his last bike route. “About five miles. It was with a group of the Indian Ministry.’’

Having travelled and sat in meeting and meeting and meeting, Mayur wanted assam tea and to sleep. However it wasn’t time yet since it wasn’t even 6pm in London yet. Stifling a yawn, he moved through the booths and seats until he found an empty one. Then sat. Yawned again and scratched his stubble covered chin.

He’d just sit here. Hopefully the hubbub of noise and chatter would keep him awake. At least long enough to eat something before he went to bed. An hour or two was needed… At least. Sigh.

Rolling his head, he pulled out the book he was currently reading. Yet another means of attempting to stay awake until a more reasonable time.

”He has his moments which usually come when he wants me to babysit.” Conley said before taking another bite of his food. It was nice to have company for dinner that wasn’t work company. Although Sachin technically was work company, he certainly didn’t feel like work company. Which was why Conley was being so open about his personal life.

”Five miles?” Conley said unable to hide his fascination. What on earth would one bike anywhere for 5 miles for? ”Was it for….oh what do the muggles call it?” He tapped his fork on his plate as thought. ”A…ah…charity sale?” Conley flushed a bit, feeling slightly foolish. Muggle studies had never been his specialty. He was certain he had the term wrong. In an attempt to hide the flush, Conley finished off his pint and put the cup back down on the table. He wouldn’t have minded another drink, but didn’t really want to leave Sachin. He was enjoying the male’s company.

It was amazing that Sachin was learning so much about Conley. They never hung out together out of work and whenever they met, it was usually just to discuss some issue or concern between Britain and India. He was really loving this moment and secretly, he wanted them to have another. Before or after the Quidditch World Cup finals, that is. “Oh? Kitane bachchon? How many children does he have?’’ And as far as he could remember, Conley had none. Right?...

Sachin’s lips twitched at the term used and he wanted to laugh; he really did but Conley was the boss and it would not do the Ambassador to laugh at him. “Charity event,’’ he corrected in a tone of voice which suggested that anyone could get the terminology wrong. “Actually, the whole thing was planned as a recreational activity. It was very fun.’’ Try as Sachin might, he could not ignore the flush though he did not offer any comment. Not that it mattered because Conley’s attention was sadly off of him now. The dark-haired man casually followed the Department Head’s gaze to find himself looking at Mayur Anand. Being an avid fan of the Indian Quidditch Team, he immediately got excited. “Bhaarat ka dibba. One of Team India’s Beater,’’ was what he told Conley, his eyes shining.

Ah, so Conley had used the wrong term. He caught the lip twitch, and even with the polite tone, he knew that he had messed up. At least Sachin was polite enough to not laugh at him. However, Conley had a feeling he wouldn’t have minded being laughed at by Sachin. ”Charity event,” he repeated pulling his eyes away from the quidditch player sitting behind Sachin. ”Right,” he flushed again and took another bite of his food.

Thankfully Sachin changed the subject to quidditch. ”I take it you’re rooting for India?” he asked. He’d be surprised if Sachin wasn’t. ”I think England’s going to win.” He added playfully as Renee Golzio walked into the Leaky. Conley watched her head over to the bar. Subconsciously, Conley sat up a little straighter. He had always admired her and she was much prettier in person than he had realized.

Default Krel Ansell & FearlessLeader19 / anyone else ^_^

Did he see people looking at him? Yes.

Did he actually look back at them? No, or he tried not too. Not yet anyway.

The Indian man was tired, and it was taking all of his energy to read printed words in front of his eyes without them swimming. He was tired. Why couldn't he just sleep again?

Sighing, he rubbed his eyes and then scratched his jaw and then finally looked at his time piece.

Silently, he hoped some of his team mates joined him so that he could stay awake easier. That or it was going to be a long two hours.

SPOILER!!: Conley & Mayur!

Sighing, he rubbed his eyes and then scratched his jaw and then finally looked at his time piece.

Silently, he hoped some of his team mates joined him so that he could stay awake easier. That or it was going to be a long two hours.

Sachin couldn’t help it. At Conley’s reaction, he broke into a grin. “It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone gets something wrong sometime, right?’’ He wanted to do nothing but reassure the other man it was okay. His grin got broader. “Sahee baat! Correct! You might say I’m biased.’’ He arched an eyebrow in amused skepticism and his tone was just as playful. “Is that so? We’ll see about that. England’s going to need all the luck they can get because India’s got some of the best players.’’ England too but... India was better in his opinion. Sachin watched yet again as Conley was distracted. As casually, as he could, he followed the gaze to see an England player. The way Conley was watching her and the way he sat up was hard to ignore and the Ambassador suddenly felt a great pang of jealousy go through him.

Surprised at himself, he looked away from Conley and down at his remaining tea. The cup was seized and the contents drunk. “Maybe you should go say hi,’’ was his remark as he forced a smile. “Thanks for the chai. I won’t keep you back so I’ll see you at the Ministry.’’ Sachin stood as he ruffled his hair so that it looked messier and turned towards Anand.

An autograph was what he needed!

“Namaste. Kya mujhe aapaka otograaph mil sakata hai?” Anand would have no trouble understanding that that meant ‘May I have your autograph?’’

Raju was well rested because he had only recently had a power nap. Half an hour was all he needed to feel like himself. For the most part. The Captain descended the stairs from his room to the seating area. It sure was noisy down there but a face stood out. “Mayur.’’ Raju dropped his well-toned body opposite of his Beater. “Kya aapako pata chala hai ki yahaan kya achchha hai?” Raju scrutinized Mayur’s face. “You look terrible.’’

To Mayur’s fan Raju asked with a pleasant smile “Aapako mera otograaph bhee chaahie?”

Translations:

To Mayur: Have you found out what's good here?

To Sachin: You want my autograph too?

First Sachin was smiling, almost laughing, then he was teasing, joking, and then suddenly Sachin seemed upset and was leaving. Conley wasn’t sure what exactly had happened. Had he said or done something to upset the man? ”Ah…” he sat there with his mouth open for a moment as the man slipped out of the booth and walked over to the India quidditch player. He couldn’t even get a goodbye out he was that flustered.

Conley looked over to towards Renee, then back at Sachin, and then back down at his plate. He tilted his pint towards him, then away, wishing it were full. With a sigh, he set about finishing his meal. Perhaps he should just stick to eating by himself from now on. He went to take another bite of food and found that he didn't have an appetite anymore. Conley pushed the plate away, pulled out a few coins and tossed them down on the table, and then stood up. He looked from Sachin to Mayur to Renee and back to Sachin before he walked out of the pub.

Stopping just short of her booth, “Do you mind if I join you?” He left his hand on the back of the booth opposite of her.
From her bag, Renata pulled out a pencil and another book. Her own, this time and not her fathers. But she did copy a name and address down into her book from his before stowing both away. And apparently just in time, as she was no longer alone at her booth. With a look upwards and a soft smile, Renata nodded. "Please do." Another man to get on side. London was, as everyone had told her, the easiest place to coerce.

Alejandro smiled. Watching her put a notebook somewhere beside on the table. He watched her a second taking in her expression. She was a beauty that was for certain but he wasn't here for a long time so might as well live it up. "Thanks." He folded himself down into the seat across from her.

It was finally time for the big announcement. Lucy slipped through the tables and made her way to the wall next to the fireplace to hang the sign. She had already sent the owl to the winner and its arrival was imminent.

Quote:
WINNER
Quidditch World Cup at the Leaky Cauldron
Delyth Louise Dominique
Congratulations from Lucy and the Leaky staff

*Please see Lucy for room assignment and VIP pass*

After attaching the announcement to the wall, she took a few steps back and smiled. She remembered chatting with the young lady and was excited to be awarding such a kind person with the raffle prize.

As he sat down, Renata gave him a once over and tilted her head as she smiled. "And who is it that I'm sharing company with today?" Loosely translated as 'who is it what I'm going to corrupt today?' But nevertheless, Renata smiled all whilst she thought about the things she should get to know about him. Personal questions for those important security questions at any crossroads she met when fleecing him of everything he owned.

It had been an interesting week. After going into the Ministry in hopes of finding a new job, or at least being pointed in the right direction one, Lena had certainly been pointed to one. So... it hadn't really been that strange. It was what she had wanted, actually, but it was Japan. Most of Lena's traveling had been within humanitarian projects, which were usually short term. This was quite different. A job in Japan was very different.

Though, nothing was set in stone yet. Heck, there hadn't even been an offer. It was simply a meeting. Lena kept trying to remind herself of that. Most of her work was volunteer with non-profits, so it was important for her to find outside work to support herself. Usually, she didn't have an issue, but usually, since her volunteer work took importance most of the time, her actual jobs were contracted or temporary.

Needless to say, Lena had many thoughts running through her mind when she entered the Leaky Cauldron that afternoon. She had an idea of what the Minister's son looked like, but she didn't see him at first. She didn't necessarily want to sit before he got there, so Lena lingered near the front of the seating area, waiting for his arrival.

Ryu wasn't buying it. Not one bit.

His father having a suggestion as to someone he could potentially hire as part of his staff at Himitsumahou? No. Not buying it. Charles had the uncanny tendency of smelling fishy whenever making suggestions for him to meet people and right now this whole situation smelled like whole bloody Tsukiji Market. Still, as always, he was willing to give his father the benefit of the double. The old man was...desperate in some ways but did genuinely have him and his siblings' best interest at heart. Also, well, when the Minister for Magic tells you to be somewhere...you were somewhat obligated to follow through.

Dressed in anything but business attire - leather jacket, white T-shirt, jeans, and thick boots - Ryu made his way to the agreed location and honestly had no idea who exactly he was looking for. He had a name, but he wasn't about to go shouting through the Leaky Cauldron for her.

Chocolate eyes surveying the scene, they soon fell upon a very attractive looking woman....to which his faith in giving his old man the benefit of the doubt all but shattered.

"....bloody hell," he muttered under his breath as he made his approach to the table and cleared his throat. "...pardon me, but, are you Lena Yurkovich?"

...and yes. He did entirely butcher that last name's pronunciation.

She was fidgeting with a loose string on her dress, when a tall man entered the pub. From her peripherals, though, it didn't seem to be the Headmaster of the school in Japan. Her mind went elsewhere quickly, only to be taken back to that man... when he spoke to her and said her name.

Mispronounced terribly, but that was her name.

Lena's intrigued green eyes lifted to the man who she was now ninety-eight percent certain was Ryunosuke (if she was remembering all the syllables right). The two percent of her uncertainty couldn't help but let her eyes drop to the leather jacket, t-shirt and jeans that the man was wearing... But it had to be him. "Yurkovich, yes," she said, correcting the man politely, adding a quick smile, all the which happened in less than one whole second. "Mr... Hollingberry?" she asked, not wanting to butcher his own name.

She had remembered, of course, every lesson ever taught by advisers and career search counselors throughout her many years to always be professional because you never knew who was watching, but... Merlin, he was in a leather jacket. Not only did it fit him quite well, but she wasn't really getting professional vibes from him, which led her to wonder if the Minister's zealousness was more optimism than realism. "Why don't we take a seat?" she said quickly before heading towards a free table by the window. It was probably better to get this over with as quickly as possible (queue self doubt and doubt in general).

With a small smile he folded his hands on the table leaning in a bit. He liked the slight tempting-ness to her eyes. She looked ready to draw him in. But his papa always told him be careful around a pretty woman. "Alex." Alejandro smiled. With strangers he didn't know he always gave his North American name rather than the name his mother had given him at birth. Alejandro was a name that stood out and sometimes you needed to blend in rather than stick out.

Leaning back and smiling at her as he tracked her posture he thought over whether or not he should order something to drink at least since he had been sitting at a table, and obviously hadn't won the drawing. Bringing his gaze back to the woman, "and who am I sharing some lovely company with?"

Ah, well that solved the mystery of pronunciation then. Though he was likely to butcher it again, especially after being submerged once again in Japanese pronunciation. "Ryu will do," he chuckled as he took her invitation to sit and slid into the seat opposite her. "Mr. Hollingberry is my old man and I am no Minister for Magic." Certainly never had his sights set on that, though he had never thought himself much of the sort to become a headmaster either and now here he was.

Her green eyes were striking, perhaps even more so since he had grown accustomed to looking into various shades of brown over the past 12 months. Captivating even, though the reminder that his father had arranged for this meeting pulling himself free from these and other thoughts.

"Speaking of him...he told me that you are possibly seeking a position as an English instructor at my magical school," he continued, leaning back in his seat and setting one heel on his knee. "Why? Why English instruction and why this particular establishment?"

Oh, thank goodness. The man had a nickname. Ryu. She could handle that. She gave the headmaster a sheepish smile as she adjusted her dress beneath her. "Ryu, then. It is nice to meet you." Now that they were seated, she let herself take a brief moment to take in the details of his face. He was quite handsome, now that she was paying attention. But that wasn't the point of their meeting.

When a waiter came by to drop off water, Lena took her glass and sipped on the cool drink. Then she smiled a bit at Ryu's questions and rested her hands in her lap. "I've traveled to a dozen countries to teach English since I was eighteen. After I left Hogwarts, I went to Romania for a while. There's a program where students and graduates can teach English and..." she paused, her eyes sparkling as she reminisced, "I just fell in love with it." Helping people, teaching people... It was just her thing. "Then I traveled to some South American countries, some African countries... Always partnered it with a Humanitarian project." She had been doing both since the beginning. Teaching English and pursuing humanitarian efforts. Her two passions.

"More often than not it's been volunteer work, but I have taken on temporary working positions as an English teacher." Then she smiled at him again. "But I've never had the pleasure of teaching in Japan." It sounded exciting. She had been to Thailand once, but that was as close as she had gotten. She knew Japan was much different and truthfully... she hoped that this would work out because it was a place she longed to visit. Lena didn't vacation much, though. Every trip of hers served a purpose.

Alex? Seemed short for something. Tilting her head, Renata swept her hair behind her ear. "You don't... look like an Alex." What did an Alex look like? Who knew. What did a Renata look like? This girl. How did someone make it their mission to get as much information out of a person as they could? Oh, just watch and don't learn, because this was her game and she was good at it. Good enough that if 'Alex' hadn't been paying full attention to her, he'd have noticed that she had swiped his wallet and her bag was currently duplicating everything in it so that she could get more information about him when she inspected the contents from home later.

"Oh, just... just Margot." Something like that. Margot, an unsure individual. Margot, always needing a man and his attention. Margot, never good on her own. Just, Margot.
