Default Which Hogwarts' subject would you want to teach?

There are so many neat subjects taught at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Maybe your affinity for plants would lead you to accept a role as the herbology professor. Or maybe you have a liking towards numbers and would take on the magnificently difficult subject of arithmancy!

If you were hired as a professor at Hogwarts, which class would YOU be teaching and why?

Is it too basic to say Charms? Just learning how to do magic spells sounds pretty cool to me. Or maybe I'd just come in as a guest lecturer and do a seminar on painting magical portraits.

^ I could 100000% see you doing a seminar on magical portraits!!

Also, I'm pretty sure if i could teach at Hogwarts, ironically it would be Arithmancy. Like it's been my favorite subject for FOREVER and it always hurts my heart how little it's discussed in the books.

Although if we're doing seminars, something with pathology or magical maladies might be cool

I'm with ya, MJ! I agree, you'd be great at a seminar involving painting magical portraits.

Ironically, the classes I would be the worst at teaching are the two I've "taught" here on SS in the School RPG. I'm horrible at raising plants, so Herbology is just 100% out. And as much as I love animals, I hate seeing them injured, and I have no pets right now, and I'm allergic to cat dander even though I love them so much, so there goes Care of Magical Creatures.

BUT. I would love to teach Transfiguration and/or DADA. Transfiguration seems so fun and like the perfect application of my imagination. I also like DADA for this reason; you really have to be able to think on your feet and imagine all kinds of scenarios in which your paranoia and constant vigilance will pay off, so that's another natural fit for me. I love teaching off the cuff, with loose plans anyway. And the spells in Transfig and DADA are some of my favorites!

One class I'd like to THINK I'd be good at teaching would be Potions, since it's similar to cooking, but also, I dunno. When I cook, I often make substitutions and ignore the recipe, so that's probably not great for the precision and instruction following Potions requires. I also would quickly turn into Snape if I saw kids wasting ingredients or blowing up cauldrons.

...oh, and if I were a real witch, I'd like to think I'd be a boss of cleaning spells and cooking spells by now, so maybe I could do a seminar on those. "How to Make Magic in the Kitchen" or something. Yes, I'm part house elf.

Astronomy. I've always loved this topic despite its many, many complicated topics. I enjoy reading as much as I can to understand the topics as best as I can though. Recently I received a certificate via Coursera from the University of Arizona having successfully completed a very detailed Time & Space course. Needless to say I learnt a lot from there and would be more confident teaching the subject.
It doesn't matter what we do, all silhouettes with no regrets.

Is there a Hogwarts class for Wizarding Literature? As an English major I would teach that. If not, I'd probably teach Transfiguration because I love McGonnagle.

Unfortunately, that is never discussed.
But I would probably teach either that or History of Magic.

I'm about to say the same thing, potion purely because of Professor Snape.
