Default What do you think about Wizards Unite?

Updated: 23rd June, 2019

Following a successful beta release, Wizards Unite has begun rolling out for iOS and Android users to enjoy. It isn't available for everyone just yet, but the rollout is set to continue into the next few weeks and months.

So my question is.. what are you thinking about it so far? Were you part of the beta and have you noticed any differences since the release on Friday? Are you enjoying it? Have you picked up any tips and tricks with the game?

I've just set my Mum up on the game and I think she's almost as excited as I was!

We have a thread over here for you to share your friend codes with other members to get friends on the app.

Let's chat!

Alright so Wizards Unite has been released for android users in NZ and Australia (which, I know, weird, but hey I'm not complaining). I've been playing it for a few weeks now and my first impressions are:

1) Its WAY better than Pokemon Go
2) I LOVE how there is an actual story!
3) It integrates lore with the other phone games (Hogwarts Mystery and Fantastic Beasts Cases)

Its really creatively done and there's already a lot to do and variety of things going on even though the events portion hasn't launched yet.

Some things that are still lacking/missing:

1) No events yet
2) No character customization appearance-wise (but you do get to get a wand, pick a house, and unlock a profession!)
3) Not a lot of people playing in my area so far so I am yet to test out the interaction features

Has anyone else started playing yet?

Maybe cause I wasnt used to it but im forever running out of spell energy i found a challenge by accident (I didn't realize fortress and inns were different things) but hadn't completed one successfully yet cause i was low on spell energy...

Also amused at the similarities between this and Pokémon Go , in terms of pokestops = greenhouses.

Umm what else? Oh after like nearly a day of trying I finally got the portkey to work... and those are super cool and fun

So it's finally rolled out in my part of the world, and I've come bearing first impressions!
1. LOVE the UI, love love love!!! It's designed better than pokemon go imo, and it feels like the wizworld, honestly it's great.
2. Do not love the battery draining, yikes, wow, I barely played for half an hour and it dropped like a hot potato
3. Yay a storyline!*bounces* This wins the comparison to pokemon go as well
4. It's kinda glitchy, and restarts with low Internet, but that's to be expected at launch so I'm not too fussed about it
5. I don't quite get the point of the fortresses just yet, but that's probably bc I glitched out of my first one.
All in all you guys I'm EXCITED. I hope Nintendo put as much work into it as they have Pokemon Go and I can't wait to see how it progresses! I haven't done most of the cool things yet like the portkeys and fortress challenges (I did get a potion brewing though) but I'm excited to play and honestly that's what I was most worried about, that it wouldn't be exciting. BUT IT IS.

stern but sweet

Okay, I got the app the day they announced that it had been released. Today I actually took it out to a local park for a spin, and can I just say W O W??? I had Pokemon GO for a short while way back when, but wasn't terribly interested in it. I think it really had to do with the lack of an actual storyline to play along, whereas Wizards Unite has this underlying story to it. Not to mention I love feeling like I'm part of the wizarding world universe casting spells and playing part in solving a mystery!

My app has had to restart a few times since I started playing, but I haven't run into any other glitches that have made it difficult to play or enjoy it. I figure in the beginning there may be some kinks to work out, but so far? I'm loving it immensely. I can't wait to see how the story plays out!

i have been playing it the day it was released until today and I have mixed feelings about it. I honestly love the game but the downside of WU is that the game is too slow....? Like when I have caught something, it takes minutes for the game to load. is anyone having the same problem as I have? of course i will compare it to pokemon go because they have the same developer with pokemon go, capturing was fast even if you are in a moving vehicle but it's not the case with wizards unite. Maybe it is a lot different to others, this is my experience with the game so far. Overall tho, I like it.

I like the game, but I'm not keen on popping into random business' parking lots in order to go to inns and fortresses. I mean, maybe we just have a LOT of churches around here, but it seems like ONLY churches are inns. So I worry about looking like a creeper as I sit in my car for the 5 minutes it takes to go to a fortress.

I do like that most parks have a fortress though! Um... other thoughts... there needs to be a faster way to accumulate coins, since that's the only way to expand your potions/ingredients vault! And I wish growing ingredients in the greenhouse was easier. I have planted things twice, and other people have come along and picked them before I was able to. So that's kind of confusing. And what is the point of Dark Detectors? Do they actually do anything???

Also, I hate that sometimes I'll waste a potion on a confoundable, only to have it disappear!
I'm sorry if I hurt you, I'm sorry if it got that bad | I'm sorry I can't help you, somebody should've had your back

Dark Detectors work like lures do in Pokemon GO though I tend to find that unless there are three in place nothing much really happens and there isn't an increase of Foundables or anything.

I really like the daily quest of just walking a little, it's helping encourage me to get out of the house and just take a small walk which always ends up being a longer one. Over here in Japan, shrines tend to be inns (usually a trio and then sometimes a fortress attached) and those are open spaces with public benches and lots of tree coverage ... so it's been nice going for these walks or bike rides to find new shrines and explore my local area more found some neat parks for my boys to play in too thanks to this inn and fortress tracking

I personally am anxious to find out what they have planned for having friends since that feature is just...there right now. Will there be duels? I imagine we will be able to send 'owls' to friends and give items and such
