Library No matter your subject of interest, there's likely a section of this vast, dome shaped room to suit your needs. The shelves climb high to the very ceilings, packed and organized in such a way that if you know what you're looking for, you'll have no trouble locating it on your own. If, even after careful checking, you can't find what you're looking for, stop by the front desk where either librarian will be happy to assist you. |
~~for a certain Ravenclaw NOT elf~~and anyone else! Bernadette had wizard homework ALREADY. Even if the professors hadn't explicitly assigned everything, she still would have explored the library because DUH it was a LIBRARY. And books were ENCHANTED here and Bernadette LIKED BOOKS and parchment and quills and candles and and and "Mmmmmmm," she inhaled as she walked into the library. Just get a whiff of this place! She skipped in to find a good Oh, haha. Now she was understanding why their first lesson was about herbs. Ya know, HERBology. HA. HERBOLOGY. |
When it came to checking out all the best places in Beauxbaton, the library was high up there on her list. Not only was she sure it would come in handy for studying purposes as well as for homework BUUUUUUUUT also just for reading. If she could get her hands on some books she hadn't read about Herbology, Charms, or Transfiguration yet she would surely be in her glory. WHOOOOOOOOA!!! Rylee's eyes grew wide in silent awe as she turned in a small circle taking in shelves packed with TONS of books. There was no doubt in her mind that she would be spending a LOT of time in here! Just look at all these books! Where was she even supposed to start?! Sorry to anyone else in the library right now, her mind was focused solely on all the books around here and therefore... she noticed no one at the moment. |

First things first. An older girl and housemate. And one who happened to have played for their house team, which made all the more sense for Carsyn to strike up a conversation with her cause she was DESPERATE to make Gryffindor Seeker, if there even was going to be Quidditch this year. And if not, then she had three more years to achieve that goal. "Think we could use that charmed ladder as a lookout point?" Just curious. Also, please don't be startled. |

Rylee yelped softly in surprise while also spinning around to see who had spoken to her. Both actions caused her to look somewhat like a broken spinning top that more wobbled to and fro rather than actually spin. A fellow lioness like herself. A light smile tugged at her lips upon seeing a familiar face and then there was a quiet laugh. No one that meant her any harm was here, least not right this very moment. "I'm sure we could. Is there something specific you're wanting to look for?" Like how she was hopeful in finding a few new Herbology or Charms books. |
It had been some time since the announcement of this Valentine's Ball and while he had been fairly certain on the day that Missa had been expecting him to ask her good and proper....he hadn't. That was too expected and he did not like doing things on other people's agendas and timing. So he had waited and mulled things over a bit, mostly tried to get over his disinterest in formal events entirely, AND eventually settled on a method of asking. Something he had found somewhere or another or that had been suggested to him. Didn't matter. He was the one doing the asking. So today was like any other OWL study session Spreading his study materials out - they would be going over Goblin Rebellions and some of the finer details of the Second Wizarding War today - he also set out a simple white box in front of her seat and proceeded to wait for her. |
Quote:
Changed into something comfortable for the afternoon ahead, the brunette made her way over to their usual spot - and smiled seeing him already there. Unaware of the box, she dropped her back by the chair and settled down besides him. "Did you start without me?" she asked, a bit playfully, while pulling out her own books, "because I thought we were in this together, Eiji" |
spoiler alert, puzzle pieces inside the box :3 She was in a good mood, so that was nice to see. It was a bit hit or miss with both of them depending on the day and the hour. Being at Beauxbatons wasn't torturous really, but it wasn't comfortable either. C'est la vie. And that would be the only French he would acknowledge for now. He probably should have studied a bit of French over the summer because he was doomed in the library right now trying to use their resources. "Just getting set up," says easily as he leans back in his chair and hooks his arm over the back of it. Clearing his throat a bit, the fifth year tried to maintain a cool exterior. "Found something that I thought would be a good warm up tool for our brains before we really get into studying." He gave his head a nod towards the white box RIGHT in front of her. "Go ahead and open it." |
Missa was definitely in a good mood, which was a bit rare these days - but she was working on it. Curious as to what he was referring to, she turned her head in the direction of the small box - and her eyes went a bit wide with excitement. Did he buy her something? No, wait - did she forget an important date? Before her head could spiral further, and she would start dreading buying him a present too - he spoke some more. OH. A brain thing. Of course. Why did she expect something else? Picking up the white box, she glanced at Eiji once before turning her curious gaze back at the thing. "Where'd you find it?" she asked, carefully opening the box -- only to reveal .... puzzle pieces? Spreading them on the table, she tilted her head with interest, "....what do you think this is all about?" |
The thing with living in a broom closet was that you could find all sorts of things in the nooks and crannies of the place. Although everything seemed to be in pristine condition since Beauxbatons was clearly out to impress everyone. Even the dust felt like it sparkled like diamonds - whenever one could find any dust that is. "You can find a lot of things living in a broom closet," he shrugged nonchalantly. Not a lie, thankfully. He could simply withhold information and details to for his purposes. Reaching out and taking a handful of puzzle pieces, he carefully started laying them down with the darker side facing upwards. Mostly blacks and purples, but there were some peaches and browns woven in there as well. "Starting with the edge pieces is a good starting point," casually suggests as he starts sorting those from the other pieces and pushes them in front of her. "Guess you're going to have to put it all together to figure that out." Again, casual as he turned over a piece to match the rest in their dark shades. The reverse side had some sort of pattern on it as well. Considerably lighter and with the occasional green swish to it. |
"You know when I used to do this a lot when I was a kid," Missa found herself telling him, as she picked up the pieces to go along the edge he had managed to put together, "those thousand pieces ones - I loved them" So this was definitely fun. A good kind of brain warm up too, especially if they were going to be boring themselves to oblivion with goblin rebellion soon. Following the green swish, she picked out more pieces that went with the color - and carefully put them together, "....what if this is like a clue to something HIDDEN in the castle?" she asked, feeling kind of excited at the idea, "...like a puzzle within a puzzle. How cool would THAT be?" |
Smiles a little at that, his ego stroked a bit that he had selected something that had some sort of connection to her without really knowing. Just...ignore the fact that a lot of people did puzzles when they were little. himself included and things got a hostile sometimes over who got to insert the last puzzle piece. He would let her do that today. He was barely even really helping put this together anyway, just sorting pieces a bit. "This one doesn't look like it has a thousand pieces, so you should make easy work of it," he mused. There were barely even 50 pieces to it. Pieces that he had intended for her to put together with the image side first - the side with the black and purples and peach colors. So he needed to play this off coolly since she was following the green swish side. Though it wouldn't be the worst thing if she did it this side. "....looks like a double sided puddle," he mused while fitting together two black corner pieces. "Dark side looks like its a picture...the lighter side not so much." Though there was a sort of pale star pattern to it. Totally casual. Totally. His lips did curl into a bit of a smirk because...she wasn't that far off with that train of thought. "Entirely possible," he nodded while pushed a few more edge pieces away from the others. |
that would be ~us~ Quote:
Ilya's hair was regular blond today, which was boring but he was sure it'll make something funny sometime soon. He walked into the hall with his shoulder bag weighing down with four or five books. He had questions about transfiguration and he was going to give this a try and find out if he was, like, a super wizard. Maybe he just needed a trigger to unleash his true powers, y'know?? He's been thinking about this at length. Bernie's hiding spot was not so sneaky because he found her. "Gernie!" That name suited her better. She was the perfect partner for this, to be honest, she was gullible and would help him with anything ~magical~. Ilya hurried over to her, struggling to keep his shoulder bag on his shoulder because wow did those book weigh like half his size. "I need your help. I'm embarking on a special project." He gave her the dramatic, IT IS A SECRET, wild look. |
Quote:
Following his lead, she started piecing together the ones which were of the same colour, the Ravenclaw brain thankfully not overworking already. Nodding, she watched as the darker side came together, before further musing, "...I wonder if it'll just be a picture or text too" |
Quote:
Soon enough there were only a few pieces left and a very clear image had been pieced together. Watches her to see just when she would pull herself from her focus to see just what it was she had been putting together, his hand covering his mouth as he leaned his elbow on the table to hide his amused smirk. "You may have to flip that over for a message." Casual, as always. But also thank Merlin for his hand because the smirk he wore now was almost too insufferable for even himself to deal with. |
Quote:
She quickly shot him a glance of utter surprise before turning back to the puzzle, her pace quickening as she pieced it all together. O M G. E I J I R A S T I N G The squeak of DELIGHT that escaped her lips was beyond embarrassing, and clearly didn't suit the proper etiquette of being in a library but she didn't care. She was just .... SO OVER THE MOON. It was THEM. Their PICTURE. And they looked really good, didn't they? Blushing, and grinning stupidly, she looked at him, VERY AWARE that he was smirking behind that hand of his - because his eyes were doing that thing they did whenever he smirked, "soooo you came across this randomly, huh?" she asked, looking back at the very lovely picture - before remembering what he had said about the message on the other side. Now with REALLY REALLY REALLY HIGH EXPECTATIONS, she carefully tried turning it. |
Yeah...there really was no point in covering his mouth at this point. He knew that she knew what he was doing beneath them, but there was also a bit of self preservation going on inside his head. Just because she knew didn't mean that everyone else knew that he was looking particularly "I did," nods, still very casual. "The blank puzzle itself I found laying around in storage covered in a bit of dust." Not a lie if you were simply withholding details. He glanced up at her, giving her a bit of a cautionary look that say 'please do not make me regret doing this', but really he was just happy that she looked so happy. That was the whole point of this anyway, even if it was at the expense of himself a little. He was still in disbelief that he had actually gone through with this whole idea, though regret was soon seeping into his stomach as she began carefully turning the puzzle over to reveal the other side. If she absolutely hated it...he would say it was all grandpa's fault because he had just wanted to be simple and straightforward without the embarrassing play on words. |
Quote:
She gave his bag a poke, as though inviting him to plop it on the table, and studied his face (and hair) suspiciously. Hmmmmmmmmmm. It was blonde today... was it always blonde? Hmm. And the face, he had a C R A Z Y look on his face, and he was talking about a ~SPECIAL~ project, which obviously intrigued her! "Okay," the brunette agreed easily, shrugging her shoulders and beaming at him. "What is it? What can I DO?" |
Quote:
And everything she was feeling only escalated when the other side of the puzzle became visible. "Eiji Rasting" she said, staring at the words, before grinning stupidly some more "you complete and utter sap" He really didn't need to ask though, did he realise that? Because of course she'd go WITH HIM. Lunging at him next, she quickly kissed his cheek, and said the word VERY clearly, "YES"And then kissed him on the other cheek, "yes, yes, yes" |
Quote:
He took a seat across from her, his HEAVY bag plopped on the table between them. "You need to help me look for stuff in books." Serious nod. He was taking the books out of his bag as he explained further before she ditched him and went to stare at another magical entity. "Ya know how my hair changes? And sometimes my eyes?" One of the books he got out had a symbol on the cover that kept changing forms. "Well, I think that if we look deeper into those books, we can find ways I can change more things about me." GET IT? He's a superhero. "And maybe you." He lied. Just to entice her into doing this in case she decided this was not exciting enough to her. |
Quote:
Even though seeing the way her face lit up made his heart race just a bit more and his cheeks and ears betray him with rosy hues. Even if the smirk faded into a genuine smile where he showed a bit of teeth when she started saying yes over and over again - he really liked the sound of that word. Even though his arms went easily around her after she lunged at him - he really liked that she did that too. Even though she missed twice, his lips were just a little more to the left. Even though he wasn't bothered in the least that her lunge had caused the chair he sat in to topple over, both of them falling with an unceremonious thud to the library floor. Nope. Even with all that... "Good," chuckles and leaves a kiss on her forehead. ......okay. Maybe he was just a little bit of a sap. |
Quote:
Laughing as they fell, the fifteen year old pulled away enough to look at him, eyes gleaming with excitement, "how am I suppose to study now?" SERIOUSLY. Shuffling to get up, she offered him her hand, "how did you even think of this? it's just so .... romantic, and here I thought I would have to blackmail you into going!" |
Do not, we repeat, do not make him regret doing this, Missa Renaldi. His arms rested casually around her waist, not apologetic in the least for the noise the chair crashing to the ground elicited nor for to it may have disturbed. "Well...probably won't be too productive here on the floor," replies cheekily. And now he found himself torn. On the one hand, he wanted absolutely zero ownership of any of this - save for the handiwork of applying the images to the puzzle because that had taken a bit of effort. But the wording and the concept himself had come from grandpa and he was tempted to make absolutely sure that credit was given where credit was due. But on the other hand...she really liked it and that smile was one of the brightest he had ever seen from her. So, forget grandpa, he wanted full credit for bringing that to her. ....so he was just going to ignore the whole want of hers for him to explain himself. "Blackmail? Really? I'm curious how you planned on doing that." |
Quote:
Grinning, she nodded - not at all bothered if they were bothering other people too. But she did help him sit up, and then looked around, "maybe we can skip just this one study session?" And go out, and spend some time together, and all that jazz. "I was just thinking it, I hadn't planned how yet - but" she stopped mid sentence, and looked over at the puzzle again, "I am going to go ahead and do something nice for you now" She simply had to. |
Quote:
"We could, but it means the next one has to be twice as long," smirks a bit, entirely serious in his words. Thinking and, perhaps, overthinking it - it really only made him more curious as to what thoughts had crossed that exquisite mind of hers. "Oh?" replies with a click of his tongue, a certain gleam in his eye. "Then we better pack it up quick and before Professor Sissay shushes us." |
