Benadi...

Two best friends, first real close during school and now inseparable as they start the rest of their lives together.

Locations
Benadi Apartment: Two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Edinburgh. Their first very own home close to school.

Cassiopeia's Cafe: A friendly cafe owned by Benny's mother

Rehman House: The childhood home of Adi, home of Saieed and Indira Rehman

Wizarding University: Edinburgh Campus of the school, where Benny and Adi take classes towards their degrees.

Scene 1 : Cassiopeia's Cafe

Ben's mom's cafe was chosen as the location for the ritual meeting of the families. Aka the first full Atreyu-Rehman get-together. The one where the boys tell their loved ones the truth about their relationship and see just how they react.

Could this day get any more perfect? Exploring, having lunch and then working again with the hubby could always be counted as perfection. See? Him and Benny still made a perfect team even after all these years. Actually, they only seemed to have gotten better at it. He nodded, distracted watching Benny eat. When Benny had mentioned 'babies', his mind had drifted to them having real kids.

But before he discussed this with Benny, he wanted to talk to Hades. He wasn't exactly sure why but he just wanted to. Maybe it was because she already had Nova and he wanted some advice.

"I think I'm getting too full,'' Adi said at last, having stuffed himself. "If I eat more, I might burst.'' Plus, he would want to sleep which was a big no-no since there was work to be done.

When Adi finished the chicken piece in his grasp, Benny set it aside and let him fend for himself. Easier that way given chicken could really be a two-handed edible. Not to mention any of the other food he had decided to pack within his picnic parcel for their lunch. The dragon continued to eat, avoiding his husband’s gaze once he noticed Adi’s attention on him as he ate. Surely, he didn’t need to feel self-conscious. “Well we certainly can’t have that.” Nope…no exploding husband for him, thank you very much.

He liked his hippogriffs in one lovable piece.

New Scene

Umph!

Benny collapsed down in a comfy chair in the den, pulling his bare feet up underneath himself as he settled in. As much as he loved what he did, and who he did it with, the days could still get long. It involved quite a bit of manual labor with or without the occasional use of magic mixed in. For now, he was considering some nice relaxing time with a book or something. Maybe just a short little nap before supper, the magizoologist leaning his head back against the cushion, his blue eyes closing and enveloping him in darkness.

Yes, that was an appealing thought.

Talking with Hady had made Adi even more sure that he needed to talk to Benny. Back home from Diagon Alley after hanging out the little sister and Nova, he sought out the hubby. He was no where to be found outside with the dragons which meant he was at the house so that's where Adi headed.

"Babe?'' he called, taking a quick peek into the kitchen. No Benny. But there he was! Relaxing... no. By the looks of it he was sleeping. Adi paused for a moment, admiring and thinking how extra cute his man looked. Alright. So, now was not the time to discuss what he wanted. He'd let Benny nap...

While he admired him some more.

He hadn’t quite drifted off before he thought he heard someone say something from another room. Benny perked up but kept his eyes closed as his thoughts were confirmed by the sound of footsteps coming towards him. Footsteps that stopped before him but didn’t leave to let him rest in privacy, a fact that made him register that it was likely Adi after returning home rather than one of the workers they had helping at the sanctuary with them. The dragon could almost feel the strength of his husband’s gaze on him, playfully rolling his eyes behind the still closed eyes.

“You would think you watch me sleep enough in your lifetime…” Benny absently and quietly mused, alerting him to his wakefulness in the current moment. He did tend to stay awake far more each evening when they went to bed.

Hang on!

Benny's eyes were moving under those eyelids. Was he dreaming? Or... Adi laughed. Yeah, Benny surely was awake. "Are you kidding? You look extra adorable while you're asleep." Watching the bestie-hubby sleep was one of his favourite things ever.

Adi moved over to where Benny had been sleeping then leaned in to give him a kiss on the lips. "Had a good nap?'' And since he had checked that everything was okay with the dragons and griffs before coming to the house, Adi knew that they didn't need to head out back to complete any work.

He absently raised his eyebrows at the adorable remark. Seeing as he was aware of how cute Adi thought him already just being awake, he didn’t think he could get anymore adorable asleep. “If you say so,” was all he could answer since it was entirely subject to the hippogriffs feelings on the matter. He himself couldn’t comment.

Benny returned the kiss as Adi’s lips touched his, his eyes slowly opening as the husband pulled away to speak to meet his other half’s dark gaze. “Technically it was just resting my eyes,” he mused as he straightened his head up. “But it was still nice.” Sleeping or just napping was much better as a pair. “Did you have a nice visit?” Benny asked, finally turning the tables from himself.

"I do and it's the truth.'' Adi smirked. He'd struck gold when he fell for his bestie. "You look well rested,'' he added cheerfully, casting an approving look over Benny. "I can make us dinner when you get hungry.'' But first he wanted to bring up that particular topic. "Yep! I did. It's always good to hang out with Hades and Nova even though they come around often.'' Because Hady was one of those that kept the griffs and dragons in good health.

"I can't believe how much Nova has grown! Apparently they grow up fast.'' And apparently was a little nervous about talking about having a family of their own. What if Benny wasn't ready? Adi knew he was and he REALLY wanted to a kid. He reached for Benny's hand. "Do you still want us to have kids?''

Benny just absently shook his head at his husband. He could try and argue with Adi over whether or not it was true and who was the better looking of them but it would go nowhere really. “Sounds good…” he remarked in agreement to dinner but he wasn’t quite feeling it right at the moment. Instead he was more interested in hearing about the visit to Diagon Alley that his other half had enjoyed their mutual good friend and animal caretaker and her daughter.

“I suppose they do…” he remarked with a chuckle. “After all it wasn’t that long since I was that age,” he teased before tilting his head and watching Adi as his husband took his hand. There was something that he was getting from him...some vibe...but he couldn't place it. And then there was the question. “Yes…yes of course.” Hadn’t they had the talks? Of family…of the four kids that Adi always tried to make more. He had agreed then, why would he back down?

With the thought of having dinner soon, Adi pushed the subject aside for now. They'd talk menu in a few minutes because of the more important topic at hand. "Oh, they definitely do. It seemed like it was only yesterday Nova was tiny. Now she's about three times bigger.'' Sure, he had always liked kids but had never realised just how quickly they grew up. That's how fast his and Benny's kids would grow up too?

Okay, so they were still going to have kids

Adi was super happy about that and he squeezed Banny's hand. "Yeah, I know we've talked about it before but are you ready for us to start looking into adoptions? I would understand if you want to wait a bit more.'' Because they had a good thing going, just the two of them.

Tiny and now three times bigger. Benny got that, nodding in acknowledgement. Kids would be kids and he himself would no doubt see her bigger the next time Hady brought the girl along to visit her mother’s work. “And just as cute no doubt,” the dragon remarked with a smile. Babies and kids usually stayed that way...well as long as they were behaving and not causing a ruckus.

Oh good, it was a good vibe, the squeeze of his hand and the happiness from Adi at his own answer was proof of that. But Adi was also approaching a serious topic. Was he truly ready for the next step? “Well…we have gotten settled. And the reserve is going well.” Better than they might have imagined even. Benny was speaking out loud as he ran over his thoughts on the matter. It was a big step but not a sudden one. “I suppose its as good a time as any.”

Adi grinned. "You bet! And she does this thing where it seems like she wants to talk to you but the sounds are difficult to understand. Baby gurgle is what I call it.'' He could go on and on about Nova but maybe he would bore Benny

Yep, they were settled completely and so far, the reserve was in tip-top shape. They had everything under control. It seems he and Benny were thinking the same though he had, of course, wanted to get the hubby's opinion first that the time was right. "Awesome!'' Adi was beyond happy right now. "I'll speak to Lorelai from the Stemp House to see how soon we can set up a visit there.''

Benny couldn’t help but be bemused the way Adi was behaving as he spoke of Nova. So caring and amused and seemingly utterly taken by the little girl. He could only imagine how his husband would be when the child or children were theirs instead of belonging to another. All he could say was that he knew he’d enjoy every moment of it with their family. It was part of why he was so willing to have that which they had talked about. “Can’t wait for that then.”

Awesome…

He smiled a smile reserved only for Adi, the bright ones that showed his full happiness. “Alright…” he said with a nod of agreement, squeezing Adi’s hand this time before using their joined hands to guide Adi onto his lap and the chair.

“We’re doing this…”

Adi was all grins. Baby talk with Benny was always fun. Even more so when they were talking about starting their own family. He recognised that smile, that one that he alone got (which was super cool, by the way. The fact that no one else got one like that, he meant).

The guy shifted onto Benny's chair with their hands still joined. "Yep, we are.'' His gazed was fixed fondly on the hubby. "You nervous?'' He would totally understand if he was. Raising a family was no easy feat but he knew that this was something that they could handle. They always made a great team.

Also, the question he had asked made him think about his own feelings. Adi had never been nervous before but now they were actually closer to going through with the adoption.

Benny met Adi’s gaze as Adi locked eyes with him. Nervous? Was he nervous about what he had just agreed to? What they had set rolling years ago? The dragon slowly nodding his head hesitantly. “A little.” Having and raising a child was certainly different than rescuing and helping a creature however magical and trying the latter could be. And while Ethelinda was still young in dragon years, she was able to take care of herself for the most part…not like a human child at the same age.

“Are you?” he asked his other half, curious what Adi was feeling. He seemed so sure of himself concerning children. So for it without a care in the world. Or was his husband really just as nervous as he was about the next stage in their lives?

It was expected. Benny's reply, that was. Adi knew he was being honest and when the question was returned, he nodded. "A bit, like you.'' He tilted his head, eyes still fixed on his other half. "It's what I've always wanted, you know that. But now we're actually going to get it done and I can't help but be nervous.'' Not that was a TON nervous. Just a little.

This was going to be something completely new for both of them.

But he grinned. "We'll figure it out as we go along, right? We've always made the best team.'' Adi supposed this would be the last anyone heard of him being nervous about having kids. From here on out, it was just going to be taking it step by step!

There was some comfort that his husband was just as nervous as he was on the situation. That he truly wasn’t alone in his concern despite knowing he was never alone with Adi by his side. Benny nodded in acceptance as Adi spoke further on his feelings. “Yeah…I suppose it would be silly to not be,” he remarked in all truthfulness. Parenting was a strange, complicated, and often mysterious thing even without the whole adoption process they would be going through. And for them be a completely new type of experience.

“Right…” Benny agreed, smiling back at his other half. “One step at a time.” That was all they could do in the end. They didn’t usually give up once eithers mind was made up. “Surely we can handle this after the dragons and hippogriffs,” he added with a touch of jest. The team of Atreyu and Rehman was used to the rough and firey.

"Mhmm. But I suppose once we go through this, then when we're ready to adopt again, it'll be easier.'' Not to mention that it'll be the same for future kids after they've gotten the parenting experience. Because Benny did know that he'd always wanted a big family. Well, maybe not too big but he certainly wanted more than two kids.

Adi laughed. "That's true. All those ferocious creatures!'' He was joking. They weren't that scary. Him and Benny were already like parents to them so actual kids of theirs... the couple could handle them. He put his head on Benny's shoulder. "Tomorrow can't come quickly enough.''

Benny couldn’t fault his husband’s logic at the moment. Surely it would get better as they got used to things. “True….we’d know what to expect.” Though they would also be considering being the parent of more than one kid at that point, and even more as time wore on. Which had its own set of nerves and concerns. Adi had told him time and again that he wanted a big family, the current in enacted limit by the dragonologist being a total of four.

At least they could joke about it to keep things upbeat. And he would have his very best partner-in-crime by his side for any and all additions to their family. One could only imagine how he would have been in other circumstances that wouldn’t be named. And completely forgotten as Adi leaned against him as they sat together. “You and your impatience…” he mused as he reached a hand now freed up to Adi’s head to run his fingers lightly through his hair. “Soon….my dear Papa.”

"Mhmm! More kids in the future...'' Adi smirked and looked knowingly at Benny. Though his hubby had agreed to four kids, that didn't mean that he wouldn't try to change his mind. There was this nagging feeling that Benny would put his foot down on that one... four kids he meant. The guy laughed now. "Yep! But I'm usually patient so I can afford to be impatient this time.'' And 'papa' had a nice sound to it! That was something else to enjoy as the hand made its way through his hair.

New Scene

Gosh!

It had been a tiring day so far. Adi LOVED what he did, there were some days that required extra attention and energy. Today was one of those days. That was why at present he was flopped on his back in the grass. He was shirtless and had his eyes closed. "Just a few more minutes,'' he thought to himself. "And I'll go see if Benny needs help with his dragons.''

But...

He was getting drowsy.

The nerves were starting to give way to a building excitement at the proposed start of their family. Well growing of their family in all truth since they already had their children of sorts. “Yep…four little gremlins to add to the brood.” Human children to mix and grow up with the four-legged and winged ones that came before and after. He and Adi were greatly outnumbered already as the adults unless you counted any number of the helpers they enlisted at any point in time.

“That’s it, Orin…” Benny assured the Welsh Green dragon he was working with at the moment. He and an assistant were trying to fix a enclosure wall that was threatening to fail due to Mother Nature’s interference , the hardest part was keeping the dragons nearby calm from the disturbance. Earlier they had moved the dragon’s more volatile neighbor to a back-up space to avoid a mishap, but the Welsh Green didn’t seem to mind their presence much so he had let him be.

Had he dozed off for real?

Adi sat up rather suddenly. He rubbed his eyes as he became aware of Benny's voice and the dragons' roars and grunt. No doubt the hubby was still busy with the assistants trying to get the enclosures perfect again. He got to his feet to head to said enclosure. "I'm here to help!'' the shirtless guy said. Ehem... nope, he hadn't potentially fallen asleep just now. Nope.

"Is Orion behaving?'' Or was the dragon getting agitated? And yes, he did know the dragons by name having spent so much time around them as much as he did with the hippogriffs.

The familiar voice caught his attention, chancing a brief glance in Adi’s direction only to be stopped short by the sight of a shirtless husband. Would you look at that. One handsome hippogriff. Right…help. Another set of hands wouldn’t be turned away for sure. “Great…” Benny offered with a nod and a small smile sent his way. A snort dragging his attention away to the dragon under his care.

“Yes and no,” he remarked, answering the question as best he could figure while doing his best to ease his charge. “Seems okay but a tad nervous.” Like Orin knew something was off and not just a normal run of the mill day. Not that the welsh green was bad when he needed to be checked out medically.

Adi smirked. It wasn't difficult to notice Benny being a little startled. Of course he was. Adi was quite the sight shirtless

All that working out never went to waste. Smirk turned to a grin at the reply. He loved helping the hubby out with the dragons and one reason was because the two of them always worked well to get things done. No offense to the help that worked for them.

His attention swung up to the dragon. "Benny's trying to get you back to being comfortable, Orion,'' he said in his best talking-to-dragon- voice. "You'll be alright.'' Then Adi looked back to Benny. "Anything in particular you need me to do, babe?"

Benny brushed off his reaction, hoping any of the redness he felt momentarily was missed. Besides, they had more important things to be concerned with. Like the fact that they couldn't keep Orion and his currently absent neighbor out indefinitely as they worked on fixing the matter.

“Um…maybe you should help with the enclosure,” he suggested, figuring to handle Orion himself. Just as the dragon decided to move again, his tail swinging and causing the assistant to jump out of the way. “Orion…focus on me. You know me,” Benny tried to assure the creature. Adi was great with the creatures but the human dragon trusted himself more to keep his charge’s attention. Sometimes he almost wished he could change into Orion’s companion to ease anything that was bothering him.

Not a chance of the redness being missed. Adi quickly picked up on it and grinned. Even if it had been for a brief moment, it had been spotted. But they had other something more important to get done. Flirting around with each other could happen later.

"Sure,'' Adi replied getting his wand out, quite ready to help the assistant as well as Benny. Though he glanced up at the dragon. Why wasn't Orion behaving? "Has he been like this all day?'' he questioned with a frown but at the same time beginning to work on the enclosure. It was rare that any of the dragons be this restless.

He was concerned.
