Let Us Begin

Pulling the heavy pensieve toward him, Rufus sighed and deposited his whispy, white ribbons of memory into it. It was going to be a long, long day before all of this business was done and the sooner he started on it, the better.

He set up the Quick-Quotes Quill on his desk in the same manner as he always had.

"My name is Rufus Scrimgeour, former Minister of Magic."

The words scribbled themselves out clearly and precisely as he stated. He was ready. Glancing at the memory filled pensieve, he took a deep breath and again sighed.

"Let us begin."

You Knew It From the Words "Lion Man"

First day at Hogwarts. The sorting. He couldn't breathe and he was so nervous. Standing next to the rest of the eleven year-olds they would all be judged. Any eleven year-old would be completely unnerved at the circumstances.

"Scrimgeour, Rufus!" the lady bellowed.

He stepped out of the crowd and sat, waiting. Waiting for the final verdict. Where would he go?

Rufus could smell the mustiness of the old hat as it saw into his heart, further than most would ever get to see. And still he sat there waiting...waiting.

Without warning, he heard it. His new home.
