49. Wingardium Leviosa – Levitate, Rise, Fly Until Your Hearts Content

Walking around the courtyard bare-footed, Luna tapped the end of her wand against her temple. Although the sun was shining it was very chilly and her toes had grown so cold she could almost not feel them. Tilting her head repeatedly, pale yellow blond hair cascading over her shoulders as she walked, Luna’s protuberant eyes focused on the other human in the courtyard: Draco Malfoy.

“That book is filled with microscopic brain eating maggots,” spoke Luna stopping before Draco, toes wiggling. “You shouldn’t hold it so close to your nose.”

Malfoy scowled. Lately, wherever he went there she was with those massive eyes staring him down as if he was some interesting non-existent creature in the paper her father wrote. Draco did not think her dream-like voice was endearing nor did he find her accessories positively adorable. Not adorable at all.

“Go back to your skipping Loony,” he snarled. “You’re distracting me. I’ll take away house points if you don’t get your inhuman round eyes away from me.”

Luna continued to skip. Occasionally, Draco would look up from his book to count Lovegood’s steps and wonder if he could just levitate her away.

Still…he hummed in tune with her steps.

23. Levicorpus – You Raise Me Up

He had been levitating for her amusement for a while now and not that it took a lot of concentration but honestly, any minute now someone was going to find him raising Luna Lovegood up and down in the air while she chuckled in amusement. If that were to happen, his entire reputation of being a cold and cruel—not to mention smart-mouthed—Slytherin would be over before he could say Levicorpus.

“Loony,” he snarled flicking his wrist up and she flew upwards, causing her to yelp then laugh. The wind had swept her robes and uniform and Draco averted his gray eyes elsewhere, just in case. “My arm is about to fall off.”

Luna stopped laughing as Malfoy slowly let her drift back unto the mildew covered grass. Tilting her head, her wide eyes stared at him inquisitorially.

“Why do you want your arms?” Luna questioned reaching out to grab the toad and hold it close to her nose between her hands.

“Oh, I dunno,” mumbled Malfoy. “To catch the snitch for instance? Among other things.”

The Ravenclaw shook her head in confusion and let the toad go once more.

“I quite like it when it’s free."

Draco sighed.
