22. Legilimens – Get a Clue

The drumming of his fingers on the table vibrated in the air and the tension only intensified with each sigh she let out. This entire situation made absolutely no sense and he began to wonder just what was going through this girl’s head. If only he was a legilimens…

“Look,” drawled Lucius, extending his arm over the table. “I won’t lie. I’m deeply flattered,” he continued with self-satisfied grin. “But you’re just not my type!”

The dark haired beauty sat rigid in her seat. Her eyes widened drastically and there was a dangerous drop on the corner of her lips. Before Lucius had time to raise his hands in protest she had begun to bawl. A panic rose in his chest, threatening to suffocate him and he stumbled with his words.

“All I ever wanted was—“ began the brunette before a wail cut her off. Across the table, Lucius winced. “You didn’t even give me a chance!” She finished squeakily.

Meanwhile, Malfoy tried to keep the eye rolling to a minimum. Maybe the one who needed to get a clue and become a legilimens was her. Maybe that way he wouldn’t have to go through this every other week.

11. Expecto Patronum

Lucius Malfoy knew he would never look back on his imprisonment once he was free again. He did not doubt for a second that he would be freed from this dark, disgusting, dementor infested dungeon.

A smirk almost appeared on the weathered face that had been emotionless for a very long time as he thought of how he’d whiled away the hours. Thinking up alliterated descriptions was one thing he particularly excelled at.

Yesterday he’d thought up a brilliant one for the bedraggled sot in the neighbouring cell. Rodolphus is a repugnant reprobate. The very thought of alliterating Harry Potter’s name made him so happy that he could probably pull off a wandless Patronus while sitting in the middle of this island prison.

Potter makes a plebeian pickle of his personage.

His hilarity abruptly turned into despair, and it was as if the alliterated words were tangible for now he felt as if he could actually see them being drawn out of him… Straight into the darkness under the hood that peered (he assumed) through the bars at his pathetic, weary self.

In that moment before he surrendered to the melancholy, his lips futilely formed the soundless words, “Expecto patronum…”

42. Silencio

Lucius padded over to the connecting nursery, his blonde hair was a tousled mess and his old fashioned long sleeping gown was twisted around his body. A wince creased his sleepy features as another cry pierced his consciousness.

“Damn… kid.” He mumbled groggily, hoping Cissa didn’t hear.

He hated these nights… they weren’t worth it, he thought, looking down into the scrunched up, tomato-like face of his eight month old son.

The boy quieted and sniffled up at his father, as if imploring him to pick him up and give him a bottle. Lucius continued to stare down at him, thinking of how it looked like the kid was going to be a sissy when Draco opened his mouth and let forth another wail.

There are a few moments in a man’s life when he can practically see the light bulb shining above his head, and this was one of those rare occurrences for Lucius Malfoy. Grabbing the wand Cissa had left beside the cot, he pointed it at the boy and announced in a self-satisfied voice, “Silencio.”

The wailing stopped, but before he could congratulate himself, his wife came in shrieking “I told you never to do that again, Lucius!”
