13 Quidditch Dedicated to Kirstie, who, too, used 13  The match is over and I look at him, surrounded by his fans. He has fans. I almost can’t believe it; I’m so used to him being mine and Harry’s. Mine. Possession not shared with them. But even still I swell with pride to see him so happy. Gryffindor Quidditch Keeper. I may not care for the game, but it’s his life. I have to fight to even get near him, through the excited Gryffindors. “You did brilliant, Ron,” I tell him when I finally reach him. I kiss his cheek. He still flushes and mumbles an abashed “Thanks, Hermione.”

75 Yodel I’m dedicating this one to Julzaboo; she said 70 something so I picked this for her Hurrah –snickers- “Yodel-lay-ee-hoooooooo!” Hermione jumps at the noise, like an animal crying out. She puts her book down and looks around wildly, until her eyes fall on the top of the staircase. Suddenly, a large figure barrels down the stairs, pillow in hands. She shrieks, jumps back, but the pillow hits her head nonetheless. “Hey!” she cries, pushing back against it. Ron’s laughter greets her, jovial and happy. Then he whacks her again with the pillow. “Pillow fight!” he says, swinging. “You’re insane!” Ron just grins and yodels again. “Yodel-lay-ee-hooo!” Then he tackles her to the couch, wrapping her in his arms.

Brown eyes watch him carefully, entranced by his red hair, the way the light bounces off, rather than his wand. She knows he’s not the best at Charms. Or with a wand, really. The thought’s made with endearment. She fights the urge to smooth down the wrinkles of concentration creasing his forehead.
She’s forgotten what they’re supposed to be doing. Her cheeks flush lightly; she’s become too caught up with fantasies.
“Did you see that?” he asks excitedly, eyes bright.
She didn’t, but even still, she beams and nods admirably. “Brilliant!”
A thrill courses her as his grin stretches, proud. | |

She’s yelling again. I stare back defiantly; the best I can with tears in her eyes. She musn’t cry… she can’t. I hate it when she cries. My chest feels pained, it always does when she’s hurt.
It’s my fault.
She’s “vexed”.
I don’t want to see her cry. I can’t. It’s a painful situation to watch. Believe me, I’ve seen it. This time, instead of infuriating her further, I turn and walk out of the Common Room. The look on her face is too upsetting to see. I hate hurting her. I hear a sniffle as the portrait closes. | |

I sometimes have trouble remembering what it was like when I didn’t have to be afraid. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to not to fear. I fear fear. It’s my own personal boggart.
The other night, I had a dream. I was separated from Ron and Harry as we were in a forest. And I kept calling, calling them. As I made my way through a thick of wood, I found them. They lay there, dead, so obviously. I couldn’t fight back my sob as I dropped to their sides.
The boggart shifted then, and only Ron’s dead body remained. | |

He doesn’t like the silence that she’s greeting him with. It feels so out of place, her stoic look of calm and blissful ignorance. That is very unlike her. Reaching over, he pokes her in the shoulder, but she doesn’t move, doesn’t even acknowledge him. He gently tugs her hair but she continues to ignore him. Frustrated, he steals her favorite book from her lap.
“Hermiiiiiooooonnnneeeee,” he whines, poking her yet again.
Defeated, he flops down beside her, his arms folded over his chest, staring forward.
A moment later, laughing, she launches herself into his lap and kisses him gently. | |

“Ron, I don’t get why I’m blindfolded,” Hermione complains impatiently for the fifth time since he kidnapped her from the Common Room. Ron says nothing and continues leading her up the staircase.
“Can’t you just tell me what you’re up to? You know I don’t like not knowing.” Surprises don’t bode well with her; she hates to not know.
“You oughta lighten up,” Ron says as he pulls free the blind fold. Laid out before her, Hermione spies a telescope out the window of the tower with a small picnic set up for them. “Surprise,” he whispers in her ear. | |

With a smile, I sit and let the light breeze stir my hair. The window is open and my legs dangle over the sill, eyes on the twinkling stars above me. It’s quiet, as to be expected. The giggling girls are finally asleep and I have peace and quiet all to myself.
In the distance, I see a small object in the sky, nearing the school. I watch and notice it’s quiet fluffy.
An owl.
As it swoops into the dormitory, I glance to it’s leg and notice the note. Unfolding it, I smile.
“Sweet dreams, Hermione.
