Incomplete Drabbles The forum is home to all drabble threads that didn't quite reach their 25/50/100 target, but are definitely worth keeping on SnitchSeeker.

Drabble #51- Muggle

Lily ran through the street frantically, almost running over a Muggle on the nearly deserted street. She had been on a stake-out with James in a warehouse that Voldemort was rumored to be hiding out. The Death Eaters had spotted them and they had had to make a run for their lives. James had stopped a few blocks back to give Lily a chance to get to safety.

She peered around a bush and saw James high tailing it down the sidewalk. Lily hoped he would be careful in the dark. Once he reached her, they apparated to Godrics Hollow.

Drabble #52- Patronus

As Lily rounded the corner, she saw James, backed into a corner by three dementors. She screamed as she saw his wand several feet away from him on the ground. She ran over to it and picked it up, but the dementors turned on her. Summoning the happiest memory she could think of, Lily shouted, "Expecto Patronum!" A silver fox erupted from James' wand and charged down the dementors. Lily collapsed in a heap on the ground.

A few moments later, she felt James' strong arms around her. "What memory did you use?" he asked.

"The day I met you."

Drabble #53- House Elf

Lily mind was elsewhere as she half-heartedly dusted the living room. She didn’t even realize that she was dusting her husband's face. James laughed and spat out the dust from his mouth. "What are you trying to do, Lily?" he asked, still laughing. Lily came out of her reverie and smiled at him.

"Sorry," she mumbled. "I was just thinking. Wouldn't it be nice to have a house elf to do this for us?"

James suddenly frowned. “You know that we have to inherit that.” Lily frowned also as she recalled the fate of James’ parents and their entire household.

Drabble #54- Socks

Lily sat in the living room, matching and folding socks. She was surprised that they hadn't been called into work yet this weekend. It had been so busy at the Ministry that most Auror's were working all week.

An owl tapped on the window. She stood and let it in. It was carrying a small note. She removed it from the bird’s leg, after which, it flew out the window.

The note was from James. It read, "Called to work. Emergency. Come as soon as you can." She hurried to put the socks in a neat pile before apparating out.

Drabble #55- Fearful

Lily apparated directly inside the atrium of the Ministry. As she looked around desperately for assistance, several desk workers pointed to a side hallway. She walked straight towards it and hurried down it. As she power walked, various people pointed onward when the saw her. She hurried to a run. There were a few people standing beside a closed door, and they gestured for her to come when she approached. "He's in there," they said quietly. She looked at them, utterly horrified, but they gave her no clues. Opening the door slowly, she braced herself for what might lay ahead.

Drabble #56- Torch

As Lily entered, a crowd of people surrounding a cot stopped talking and turned to watch her. As she craned her neck to see behind them, Alastor Moody stepped forward with a strange look on his face. "James?" she gasped. "Oh no, he's taking a rest in the other room," Moody grunted. "He was burned rather badly." Lily frowned as Moody avoided her with both his eyes. “This death eater," he said, motioning to the masked figure on the cot, "caused quite a ruckus on the second floor and a torch he threw caught James on the arm and torso."

Drabble #57- Portraits

Lily sank into a chair next to the cot. "Alright," she murmured. Her attitude to take things one day at a time helped her stay under control. "Get on with the questioning," she motioned to the Death Eater on the cot. A ministry official stepped forward with a vial of Veritaserum. Lily stood slowly and exited the room. The portraits along the walls watched her with sad eyes as she made her way towards the next room. She touched her abdomen gently. She and James had already faced Voldemort twice since joining the Order. Would the baby survive another attack?

Drabble #58- Careful

Lily opened the door of the next room slowly. She peeked inside and saw Kingsley Shaklebolt sitting next to a bed and the limp figure of her husband lying on the bed, eyes closed. She ran towards him, and hugged him. James opened his eyes abruptly and wiped one of Lily's tears off his cheek. When she released him, he sank slowly back onto the mattress. Kingsley leaned towards Lily and whispered, "Careful, he hasn't quite recovered yet." Lily took a deep breath and leaned back in a chair next to Kingsley. It was going to be a long night.

Drabble #59- Timeturner

Lily and James sat on the couch together in Godrics Hollow. James was mostly recovered from his burns, thanks to a bit of help from the healers at St. Mungos, and Lily was cradling her full abdomen. She rested a hand on James' thigh, saying, "Do you ever wish we could go back in time? Would you still be involved in this, knowing what it's putting us through?" James turned rather sharply, watching Lily carefully. "Of course, my Flower. We're making a difference." Lily leaned back, a surprised look on her face. "That was uncharacteristically deep..." Suddenly, a contraction began.

Drabble #60- Wand

Lily and James apparated just outside St. Mungos. As soon as they arrived, Lily leaned for support on James' shoulder as another contraction took hold of her. "Hold on Lil'," he said quietly in her ear. They entered the crowded hospital and noticed a healer’s assistant was waiting for them in the entryway. After helping Lily onto a stretcher the assistant was levitating, they made their way to the maternity ward of the hospital. As they walked, Lily entwined her hand within James'. He whispered words of calming as they went and held his wand steadily in his other hand.
