Hiiiii, everybody!  I'm Rhi, and this will be my first attempt at the Ss25. Working on my SS100 drabbles for my current former Hogwarts RPG character, Gaston Marchand, has inspired me to examine the other side of the rocky repationship he has with his father, so this will be a sort of spin-off from the point of view of Gaston's father, Raoul Marchand. Most content will focus on Raoul's adult life, but there will be some insight into his younger days.
I'll be using all Disney songs for this challenge, including those from animated and live action movies, sequels, PIXAR, tv shows, and Broadway musicals. If it has the Disney label somewhere, anything goes!  Disclaimer: The Harry Potter universe and characters belong to J.K. Rowling and the songs used in the track list to their respective owners. Someone’s shaking me. I look at the clock; it’s not even dawn! “Alex, it’s Saturday!”
I turn away, but he yanks the blankets off. Now Paul’s jumping on the bed. Ugh, brothers! “Alexandre Marchand, If you don’t get out –“ Then I see the look in Alex’s eyes.
Something’s wrong. Why don’t I hear Father watching tv? Or smell Mother making breakfast?
A car crash. Our parents never made it home. Is this a joke? It’s not funny! “NO! You’re lying!” I pull away as Alex and Paul hug me but eventually dissolve into sobs. Now what’ll happen to us?

I don’t like this place! It’s crowded and loud… not like our house. Some guy takes our things – what little we were allowed to take – and leads us to a small room.
“Do we have to stay here?” Alex nods. “But you’re almost eighteen! You could take care of-“
He glares. “Hush, Raoul! They were kind enough to help us. We’ll just have to make the best of it.”
Easy for him to say! He’ll be gone soon, but Paul and I are stuck.
I look back at Paul and squeeze his hand. He looks as miserable as I feel!

I half-listen as Alex and the lawyer discuss our parents’ final arrangements. I don’t like what I hear. I offer an alternative, but it’s rejected. Twice I defend my idea; twice I’m ignored.
I look to Alex for validation, but there’s none to be found. Fine, I’m done fighting! “Raoul-“ Alex begins, but I storm out. However he wants to justify it, he let me down when I trusted him to back me up.
Alexandre Marchand, you made the dumbest decision of your life. Someday you’ll need me on your side like I needed you, but I won’t be there.

I stand between Alex and Paul in the receiving line. People congratulate Alex on the beautiful ceremony. I look down to keep from rolling my eyes. Every compliment makes me feel more betrayed.
No flowers, no announcement, not even a proper stone. Alex says our parents wanted something simple, but everyone knows he didn’t want to spend the money. I hope the money is worth losing my trust forever! While he’s soaking up praise, I break away.
I’m sorry, Mother and Father. I couldn’t stop this travesty, but I promise to make it up to you somehow. I’ll make you proud

Weirdo. Freak. Cry-baby. I’m too raw from the funeral to react to the taunts. I sit on the bed, staring at a photograph of happier times.
Someone yanks it from my hand. “Give it back NOW!” The bully laughs. I grab one end. He still has the other, and… it tears in half.
I tackle him, fists flying. “Raoul?” Paul’s shocked voice says. A sterner voice calls. “RAOUL!”
Alex pries me off. “You can’t keep getting so emotional! What example does that set for Paul?”
I have nobody to turn to. Fine. That’s the last time anyone sees me vulnerable!

Two more years, and I’m out of here… if I get a scholarship. Loud voices distract me from studying for tomorrow’s math test. I slam my pencil down. Two of the girls are fighting - I have no idea why!
“Keep it down!” They don’t hear me. I grab my books and leave. I’ll get more done outside!
I’m absorbed in my work when - BANG! I groan, ready to tell someone off, but nobody’s around. A funny-looking cat jumps out of a fallen trash can. Meow! I pet it as it rubs against me. Poor thing! He’s all alone like me.
