39. Duel

It was a saturday night in the Slytherin Common Room, so naturally, a group of surly second year students were duelling and trying to kill each other in the corner of the room. Draco knew that he should probably tell them to stop before they caused permanent damage, but his spot by the fire was very comfy and he couldn't bring himself to get up. He also doubted they'd even be able to give each other blood noses with their disastrous wand work.

Tuning out the thuds and bangs, Draco turned his attention back to his Transfiguration homework.

75. Yodel

A stormy sunday afternoon meant the students were stuck inside trying to entertain themselves. In a corner of the Slytherin Common Room, a fast and furious game of truth or dare was taking place. Leading the game was the seventh year Lucius Malfoy.

He selected his next victim from the assembled crowd, a second year named Severus Snape.

"Severus, truth or dare?"

"Dare" Severus replied, grimacing. He certainly didn't want Lucius asking who he had a crush on - Lily Potter, a Gryffindor.

"I dare you to Yodel at the top of your lungs"

Severus did as he was told.

25. Sorting Hat

Severus inhaled deeply as the doors to the Great Hall were flung open. Peering above the heads of the other first years in front of him, he took in the sight of the hall and the 4 house tables it contained.
In that moment, he recalled the final argument his parents had before he got on the train. If Severus had cared about what other people thought of him he would have been embarrassed by their row.

His eyes flitted to the Slytherin table, the house his mother was in. He knew the sorting hat would place him there.

92. Chocolate

Ugh, the one downside to being Slytherin Prefect - people assumed you cared about your house and signed you up to help with some stupid house spirit event. Draco had tried to get out of this particular event several times, but Professor Snape had ended up insisting he participated.

A mud-wrestling party for pete's sake! How horribly undignified and incredibly lame. If perhaps it had been a molten chocolate-wrestling party, then at least it would have been slightly less horrendous. Pansy had resorted to bribing Draco with chocolate for him to get him to attend the planning meetings.

55. Egg on

Blaise caught a reflection of himself in a mirror in the Slytherin Boys Bathroom. He looked good. Leaning in a little closer, Blaise ran a cautionary hand through his hair to attempt to make it look more uniform. He was so engrossed with his appearance he didn't notice the door to the bathroom open, or see Draco Malfoy slip into the room, clutching an egg.

Indeed, he didn't notice Draco at all until he heard him laugh, then a split second later the raw egg collided on his head.

"That Weasley girl is right, you are a poser"

76. Zap

It was time to take matters into his own hands. Winning the Quidditch game was paramount, showing those smarmy Gryffindor gits who were the rightful quidditch champions at Hogwarts.

Miles took his chance one afternoon in the library, he spotted that Alicia girl working alone at a desk near the door. The library was far from empty, but Miles was confident he would escape retribution.

He snuck closer to her, then pulled out his wand and with a zap, casted a jinx on her. He waited for a moment to observe her eyebrows, which were growing longer by the second.

14. Hogwarts, A History

The sunshine was teasing Draco, streaming through the library windows where he was stuck doing revision for his O.W.Ls. Feeling suddenly vampirish, Draco got up and moved to the back of the library away from the windows.

While Draco's attention was occupied trying to find an empty desk, he tripped over a book lying on the floor and fell face first into a shelf, smacking his nose.

He slumped to the floor and glared at the book that had maligned him, blood pouring from his nose.

Hogwarts, A History... Mudblood Granger's favourite book Draco thought to himself.

57. Gape

All Montague could see was swirling water and hear was faint voices. His head throbbed painfully and a foot was still trapped in the bowl. He sat up and twisted his foot free, where it fell with a splash to the bathroom floor. Trying to sit up again, he was hit with a fresh wave of nausea and lay back down, resting his head on the tiles.

The door to the bathroom opened and someone let out a yell. Montague turned his head slowly in the direction of the noise and opened his eyes.

Draco was standing there, mouth agape.

31. Dress robes

Pansy walked from the girl's dorm to the common room slowly for two reasons. One, she wasn't the best on high heels and was trying to get used to them, second, she wanted to keep Draco waiting for as long as possible. She was so excited to be going to the ball with the hottest guy in Slytherin, but she didn't want him to know that.

With one last slight stumble she entered the common room to see Draco, looking spunky in his black dress robes.

"You look good" she said, smiling.

Draco frowned. "Lets go"

68. Roar

I wish they would all just shut up already...

Draco glared at the stands at the far end of the pitch, a mass of gold and crimson that reminded Draco of cat sick. As he sped along on his broomstick he spotted Loony Lovegood wearing that ridiculous lion hat. It roared loudly as he zoomed past.

Draco wished he could just cast silencio on it, or even that whole freaking section of stand while he was at it. It was so noisy he couldn't concentrate. Indeed he was so distracted he didn't see Potter zooming for the snitch.

1. Herbology

Tom yawned as Professor Pritchard started rattling on about the benefits of using Mooncalf dung as fertiliser. He'd only chosen to take Herbology at N.E.W.T levels so he could learn about venemous plants and poisons, not which fertiliser worked best on colour-changing roses.

Tom looked around the class for a victim to terrorize while he tried to stay awake. He picked a Gryffindor girl, and started to flick rose thorns at her.

She looked around, like she was going to tell him off before she realised who it was and turned back around quickly, looking terrified.

2. Muggle Studies

Draco sat stiffly at the Slytherin table. He never felt comfortable when he had to sit on the side next to the Ravenclaw table. Sure this year it was emptier than ever, but he still had to hear them talking about stuff that didn't even matter.

"They cancelled Muggle Studies? I suppose they can't teach it til Professor Burbage turns up" one Ravenclaw said.

"I hope she's okay" another replied.

Draco's memory flashed back to seeing Professor Burbage suspended in the air, rotating grotesquely above him before she died. An involuntary shudder passed down his back.

3. Transfiguration

Severus sniffed. His nose was still running from this blasted cold. He knew he should really go to the nurse to get a pepper-up potion, but instead he sat in the library writing his Transfiguration essay.

Hunched over his parchment, Severus wrote very quickly in tiny writing, his quill a blur. He paused for a moment, looked up and sneezed.

A thin, freckled arm appeared out of seemingly nowhere, holding a tissue.

"Thank you Lily" Severus said quietly, taking the tissue and looking up into the beautiful face of Lily Evans.

She smiled and walked out of the library.

4. Ancient Runes

Studying outside did have it's advantages, when Draco tired of reading his Potions textbook, there were plenty of younger students to terrorize by the lake.

Looking up from a particularly boring page about the uses of bubotuber pus in potions he spotted the mudblood Granger. She was heading straight for him, and was alone, which was odd. Draco promptly ignored her and went back to reading. He expected her to say something when the reached him, but instead she dropped a note into his lap and left.

A note written entirely in Ancient Runes, which Draco didn't understand.

5. Astronomy

Vincent struggled with most classes, and this was widely known to the Slytherins thanks to Draco Malfoy. Draco liked to point out Vincent's flaws to make himself seem more important. Vincent often wondered why he was still friends with Draco, but Greg seemed happy enough to follow Draco's lead so Vincent went along with it. Most of the time anyway.

One particular Astronomy class Draco spent the entire lesson telling anyone who would listen how Vincent had failed the potions test.

Vincent threw his telescope at Draco while his back was turned. It missed him by two inches.

93. Chicken

Draco wouldn't normally go searching for Crabbe and Goyle if they dissapeared after dinner, after all he knew they usually ate til they were fit to explode. But tonight was different, Draco needed to get something off his chest. He needed to tell someone, anyone, before he went mad.

He quickly made his way to the Great Hall. He noticed inside that all the lights were dimmed and the room seemed empty. Draco's eyes adjusted to the dimness and spotted two dark shapes at the Slytherin table. Crabbe and Goyle had fallen asleep, their heads resting in chicken casserole.

65. Ooze

Draco stood there, arms crossed for a few moments as he watched his two supposed best friends snore their way through their chicken. A thick glob of gravy dribbled off the table and oozed onto Vincent's lap.

"UGH" Draco said as he prodded the two sleeping uglies with the end of his wand. "Wake up you useless bags of Dragon Dung" he added.

Eventually, Vincent and Gregory extracated themselves from their dinner and looked sleepily at Draco.

"Huh?" Crabbe groaned.

"I wanted to tell you something very important... something life changing, and you're barely conscious!" Draco said, dramatically.

61. Kiss

Smoke filled the air, and Severus looked around the crowded train platform trying to find her, knowing she would be around here somewhere - if only he wasn't so short, maybe he'd be able to spot her ginger hair in the crowd.

He craned his neck and spotted her.

"Lily!" he cried out, and started to run towards her. His progress was abruptly halted by a firm hand on his shoulder.

"Oh no - how dare you try to leave without saying goodbye to your own mother!" the woman said, before kissing him on both cheeks and embarrasing him entirely.

29. Pensieve

Lucius strode into the Headmaster's office for the third time this week. Once again, some little snitch had ratted on him to Headmaster Dumbledore. Sure, he sometimes pushed around the younger students, but really, wasn't that his job as Prefect to keep them in line?

And that Potter kid had asked for it, touching his hair - even if he did protest it was an accident.

A glimpse of light caught Lucius's eye. Inside a cupboard was a basin filled with a shiny silver liquid. Lucius wondered if it was some kind of special conditioner Dumbledore used.

72. Vex (for AutumnSun who picked the number)

Severus looked on in disgust as the students butchered yet another easy potion. There was not even a speck of competent potion making ability in the entire class - he had hoped that maybe, just maybe, one of the Slytherins would have shown some promise at least.

Draco Malfoy kept trying to suck up to Severus, and this was also vexing him. Severus made a mental note to inform Lucius that his son was useless at potions.

Snape called the lesson to an end, and just in time - Goyle's cauldron had started belching blue smoke, while Draco's was overflowing.

87. Plaid (For Nubs)

Robes. Annoying, itchy, heavy, unflattering robes. Pansy wish she was good at occlumency, she'd convince that nutter Dumbledore to let her redesign the outdated, ugly uniforms.

For the third time in as many minutes she pulled the woolen cloak away from her neck. Anything would be better than this. Even that horrible plaid pantssuit her mother owned would be more comfortable.

Pansy sighed with relief as she reached the common room, pulled off the cloak and unceremoniously dropped it on the nearest first year. She ignored his cries of protest as she flung out her arms in celebration.

56. Fight ( For Ama)

Lucius grinned, baring his brilliantly white teeth. The image in the mirror grinned back. Lucius turned his head to the side, trying to decide which side was the best.

His decision making was rudely interrupted by two third years who barged into the bathroom, apparently engaged in a fist fight / wrestling match.

Lucius stood at once and backed away from the brawling twosome, but not fast enough as a hand reached out and pulled his ponytail.

"Oh, you did NOT just pull my hair, you little cretin" Lucius cried before diving into the rumble and hitting anything he could reach.

6. Divination

The fumes were giving Pansy a headache. She tried to focus on what Professor Trelawney was saying, but it seemed like she was a mile away.

Her eyes slid out of focus and she found herself daydreaming again, but not of Draco like she usually did.

He was tall, had bronze eyes, bronze hair and seemed to glow.

Daydream Pansy found herself asking the tall boy his name.

"Edward Cullen" he said solemnly.

"Lovely to meet you Edward" Pansy said, holding her hand out to touch his arm.

"My dear, are you in the beyond?" Professor Trelawney asked, snapping Pansy out of her reverie.

11. History of Magic

An ancient rusted doorbell jingled as the tall, imposing man entered the shop. He made a show of looking at a couple of garish trinkets before heading towards the cowardly looking short man in the corner. Half-goblin the man thought with disgust, but he was the best jeweller around.

"I need you to make this locket for me" he said, his voice subtly sinister as he rolled a piece of paper out on the counter. On the paper was a detailed sketch of a locket. A locket with a prominent 'S' in the center, surrounded by snakes.

16. Dragonhide gloves

Another long day of teaching over. Severus was convinced the intellect of students was decreasing at an exponential rate over the years. Not even in his own house of Slytherin did he see anyone who had even 1/8th of the potential he himself had when he attended Hogwarts. What he wouldn't give to discover a real talented potions protegee to pass on his knowledge... before it was too late.

He shook his head and focussed on the task at hand. He pulled on his Dragonhide gloves and set about cleaning the aftermath of today's potion explosion.
