Muggle

In a world of magic with creatures blessed and changed due to such a beautiful thing, what was the point of Muggles? They had crazy inventions that really had no point, they killed the world faster than they thought with their pollution and fought over silly things. Voldemort hadn't an idea how the Muggle world still lived. In Voldemort's time alone, there had been two wars. If it weren't for wizards interfering every so often, the entire world would have been blown up by now.

Now, however, it was Voldemort's turn to do a little damage to the opposing world.

Patronus

Third year Defense Against The Dark Arts; learn how to master the patronous.

It was ironic that it was in the criteria since more than half the school new they would never need to know it, but that's what schools do; they make you learn things you'll never truly use in the 'real world' after school.

Tom Riddle, however, paid keen attention to the professor, ignoring the slapstick remarks from the students around them as they controlled slithers of silver wisps from their wand. Fate would likely have it that he, of all students, would need to know the charm.

Animagus

While Avery and Wilkes tried night after night to master their animagus forms, Riddle kept himself busy with mind exercises. It sounded like an idea a shrink had thought up, but he noticed the more he exercised his mind, the stronger his control became. He could now hold up objects, no matter their size, for over an hour, even after breaking eye contact with it.

A loud commotion from the boys' dormitory stairs distracted Riddle and he lowered the objects, glowering directly at the stairs entrance. Instead of seeing two boys run down the stairs, a pig and donkey emerged.

Duel

Every so often Lord Voldemort would lead one of his own Death Eaters astray, only to kill him in battle a few hours, sometimes even days, later. Fighting Aurors was fun for only a short matter of time, but fighting Death Eaters that held Lord Voldemort in the highest of respects and idolized him, well, it just made the Dark Lord feel giddy inside.

Barthilda had been a DE for only a few months now and had been injured in every fight she'd been in. She had to be taken care of and stupidly accepted Voldemort's duel invitation.

Stupid woman.

Torch

Dungeons were meant to be cold and dark, but when you couldn't see two feet in front of you with a torch in each hand, it was ridiculous! The Dark Lord threw down the torches and summoned white balls of light from above, illuminating the staircase. He walked down the rest of the stairs before coming to a large room.

A locket, a book and his precious Nagini were all lying on an old wooden table, three stones and a bowl by each of them.

Voldemort approached the table and slide his hand over his pet's scaly skin. "It's time."

Boggart

They'd snuck into the office over an hour ago and they still hadn't opened the chest.
Who was to be the subject of ridicule this time?

Rodolphus and Riddle eyed one another before they shoved Avery forward as Antonin flung open the chest.

At first there was nothing then a large squid floated forward. It wasn't an ordinary squid, no. It was bright pink with lavender spots.

Everyone burst out into laughter, except Avery who whimpered and stared bloodshot at the boggart.

Riddle managed to lift his wand and mutter out Riddikulus! before collapsing back into a fit of laughter.

Zap

Avery was gone, taken home due to his whacky aunt finally dying. This left Rodolphus and Riddle to find someone else to terrorize for their entertainment.

No one else had the nerve to talk to the two young men, so their searching failed.

"It's all your fault," Rodolphus claimed.

Riddle raised a brow. "Pardon?"

"If you had whacked the hag during break, Avery would still be here."

Riddle grabbed his want and pointed it at Rodolphus.

"How's this for a whack?" he mused, his wand lighting up and zapping Rodolphus directly on the nose.

Rodolphus grabbed it with a whine.

Slap

"What are you doing?" yelled Tom.

Avery was holding Nagini, pinning her to the counter. She writhed about hissing, but could not break free.

Anger surged through Riddle. Reaching with his mind, he grabbed Avery and brought him directly in front of him. Nagini slipped from his grasps and wrapped around one of her master's legs.

Riddle reached up and brought his hand across Avery's face.

The man whimpered and tried to look down in shame, but Riddle held him in mid-air, forcing his gaze to be met.

"If you touch her again, I'll rip the flesh from your bones."

Spell

"Now, class, raise your wands just like this," the Professor said, holding his wand firmly in his hand. "Now, on the count of three, lift your wands and create an S-like symbol in front of you. The size does not matter!"

Riddle sighed, but did as the professor instructed. All they had been doing for the past week were going over the motions, but never the spells themselves. Most of the motions weren't even for a spell! They were "just in case" as the professor called it, whatever that meant.

Sighing, Riddle began outlining a foul curse in the air.

Past

It had been seven years now since Riddle had thought of his family, least alone acknowledge that he was born into such an abomination. His thoughts had always been preoccupied with thoughts of killing and destroying the world that caught his eye. And yet, somehow his horrible family had worked their ways into his thoughts.

The moon had just risen and the pale light shone through his room. He paced back and forth until the moon disappeared and the sun shone bright.

However, sleep deprived and angry, his family was still on his mind. Why couldn't he escape his past?

Sweet Tooth

At least once a year the Dark Lord would disappear, sometimes for a matter of days, leaving unfinished business to be sorted by his moronic followers and prisoners to be tortured happily. No one knew where he went and no one asked. It had just become expected that they couldn't rely on the Dark Lord all the time and soon learned to handle matters with their own hands.

While his followers busied about their evil days, Voldemort watched from a mountain in the sky invisible to the world below, sweets in his hand and a misplaced smile on his lips.

Daring

As it was known, young Riddle was always getting into trouble. Whether he caused it, was the cause of it, or planned it, he was always involved. Teachers had learned to simply ignore it so long as he continued passing their classes with the highest of remarks and students obviously couldn't do anything, not that they wanted to, enjoying his pranks, even those that made the Headmaster pale.

Soon young firsties looked up to Riddle, nearly idolizing him. They were mad, of course, but thought them obnoxiously cute and couldn't help but smile when he heard of their copy-cat pranks.

Snappish

Professor Langdon was possible the most mental professor in all of Hogwarts teaching history. She taught Ancient Runes, but didn't know the first thing about them. She believed the carved lines were the key to understanding the stars. Where was her bloody head?

"Look at the lines, Tom! The lines!" she scolded him one day.

Tom bit back a glare and stared blankly at the lines.

"Put your heart into it! Feel the lines! Don't stand there like-"

"Woman!" Riddle bellowed, throwing a handful of runes at her. "Do you feel the lines, Professor?" he snarled, his left eye twitching.

Angry

Young Tom Riddle had a temper. He was, after all, still a teenage boy. But he was also a powerful wizard in the making and his temper tantrums were ten folds worse than anyone else in all of Hogwarts. Instead of slamming doors and screaming, Riddle shot a line of fire from the palm of his hand, sometimes even from his wand, taunting everyone around him. He tried to seclude himself, no need to get expelled, but sometimes people simply followed him, putting themselves in front of his line of fire. It was their fault and he felt no remorse.

Thestrals

They weren't supposed to come near the castle. The Headmaster had banned them from being allowed on the school grounds after three students were attacked last year when they suddenly had bloody noses during the lesson.

But they were here.

Could no one else see them?

No one understood why the fourth year had paled and dropped his wand. Most didn't even notice. Actually, only Rodolphus saw the act and clutched Riddle's shoulder to snap him from his fear. Darting his eyes toward the closest thing he had to a friend, Riddle nodded his head and picked up his wand.

Portraits

Paintings. Riddle didn't understand them. If you wanted to be remembered, it would be done through your actions, not by a silly picture.

He detested walking down the halls where he would be talked to by ghosts that were long gone. He always ignored them. Of what importance were they? Obviously not much since they were lodged in a picture. He had tried telling them they were all completely useless, but their shrieks annoyed him.

Riddle promised himself he would never allow himself in a portrait, no matter the cost or reason. He would be remembered for better, greater things.

Headmaster

"You're one of our best students, Mister Tom Riddle," the Headmaster said. "However, I fear that your studies are beginning to drop this term and I would wish you to get a tutor."

Riddle stared. A tutor? His face paled, but not in fright. In anger.

"Pardon me, sir, but I have responsibilities as a Prefect and it is only common that my grades will ... slack but I assure you a tutor is unneeded. I will my grades up on my own."

The Headmaster eyed him then nodded his head, as if against his own will. "Yes, of course."

Ford Anglia

The attack happened at dusk.

With a group of forty Death Eaters by his side, Lord Voldemort marched into the center of London and scattered hundreds of people from the streets with a wave of his hand. Most died instantly, all the others injured critically.

One by one, stores ignited with bright flashes of light, combusting from the inside out. He did the same to a car in his way and nearly blew off Rodolphus' head, who glared at his master once the car landed. Lord Voldemort ignored him, though a smirk lingered in his mind.

The war had begun.

Dungeons

While students went outside to enjoy the bright sunny day that had magically appeared after three weeks of a snow storm -- including even the most unlikely Slytherins--, Riddle remained inside, doing homework, practicing spells and relaxing. It was rare for him to enjoy his dorm all to himself without having to force others out. It was peaceful. His gut told him to enjoy every second of his tranquil time in the dungeons for there would not be many in his life. He obeyed and didn't step foot from the large room, having House Elves bring him his meals.

Portkey

Professor Fitzwiggen wasn't allowed to teach porkeys until the end of the year. At four days from Halloween, he was bouncing in his step, reading his horrendously vague notes allowed from the board.

"You want to make sure your portkey is secure. There are few cases where people have actually gotten stuck inside them," he preached.

Riddle and Rodolphus watched the balding man with quirked brows, shaking their heads together. "Idiot," Riddle murmured and right as the Professor dismissed them to test their magical stool, they were off, appearing in Knockturn Alley to blow off the rest of the day.

Leprechaun

It was rare that full-blown arguments were birthed inside Riddle House. Normally they were finished quickly, but tonight was different.

"The angle makes no sense! We're better if come up from the north end of the building," Rodolphus argued, his long brown hair falling into his eyes. "You're going to kill all of us if we just walk right in."

Riddle stared at him with cool, cold eyes.

Silence hung in the room for approximately nine minutes.

"Rodolphus, you don't have to be in charge of this attack. If little green men terrify you so, just say so, you coward."

Yule Ball

As Head Boy, Riddle was expected to attend every event the school threw, including the blasted Yule Ball. He had avoided it ever since it fourth year before he was given the duties of Prefect, but then it became another assignment for him to do.

He met Amelia Sulzet at the top of the stairs, giving her a hard smile. She'd tricked him into going with her and he hadn't found a way to get out of it. If he killed her, everyone would know, so he had no choice but to go with the ever so large sixth year.

Act

"You must be quick on your feet!" shrieked Professor Isht. "You will be killed if you move that slow, Avery! Move!"

They were practicing actual dueling today with spells that could cripple them all. Riddle was paired against Avery and was having a ball. He would purposely corner the poor ole chap then blast him with a ridiculous spell that Avery's shields could not block. He chuckled every time the Professor scolded Avery instead of him.

Amused as well, a singed Rodolphus approached Riddle. "Why don't you just kill him already?"

"I'm being a good little student today, dear Rodolphus."

Chase

"Give it back to me!"

Avery was at the bottom of the long winding staircase of the first floor. Riddle stood on a moving staircase on its way to the third floor. Grasped in his large hands was a pink stuffed bunny. In the center of the creature was a red pillow, Avery's name prettily sewn in.

"Never!" Riddle cackled, dangling the bunny.

Avery shrieked, his hands flying to his face. "Don't drop Mr. Snuggles!" He hopped on to a staircase already in motion, nearly falling off.

Riddle threw his head back and cackled, flying up another flight of stairs.

Bore

Riddle had never fallen asleep in class before. He had always been the one to nudge Rodolphus, Wilkes or Avery when the Professor began to question their slumped heads. He had always been on top of his notes and never had any questions about the lesson and finished his homework without having to double check his notes.

And yet, during Muggle Studies, he found his eyelids drooping, anvils on his poor eyes. He tries, struggled, to keep them open, knowing there was a pop quiz the next day, but he could care less about the Muggle Monuments cherishing drunken men.
