4. Ancient Runes

Ancient Runes, one subject that everyone should be interested in, according to the thirteen year old who clearly loved the subject because she bought about three books regarding the subject, even that one titled Ancient Runes Made Easy just to make things clear when the first class began, which wasn’t so pleasant for the teenage drama queen.

Paloma was blinking because she didn’t know anything, because she hadn’t read the announcement at the board about the lesson plans. At the end of class, she stormed out to the dormitory, picked up her copy of Spellman’s Syllabary, taking notes where possible.

98. Pajamas

Edith came into her house, excited to show her daughter something that she thought Paloma would definitely love, something she could use for the pajama birthday party the six year old was going to attend to celebrate her best friend’s happy day. “Pal, baby, come downstairs!” She called her daughter.

Pal ran out of her room, wondering what her mother had bought her, and when she saw it, she blinked and sympathetically smiled, “Oh cool, Dora the Explorer…” She said looking at the pajamas that seemed to fit her perfectly, although she imagined wearing plain pink pajamas at the party.

36. Muggle

The long run from platform 1 to 9 was the longest one Paloma could have done in her life, and it was obvious she was two minutes away from the train to depart away to Hogwarts. If only she was allowed to use magic, if only she could be seen doing it. But no, she was underage and everywhere she looked, a Muggle would be staring at her strangely at her and her left hand.

Who wouldn’t? Her wand was seen by maybe hundreds of them, some maybe thinking that it was a knife or that she was crazy. Great.

19. Wand
(as for continuing for last drabble)

Immediately, she took the wand in, hoping they wouldn’t notice her nerves as she finally arrived to the special platform for her to cross, one minute away from being super late and maybe not even able to attend Hogwarts that year.

But why was everyone still looking at her, like waiting for her to do something? Paloma just shrugged and made herself oblivious about it, and the rest came along, she was able to cross the borderline and get on the train thirty seconds before the whistle announced the Hogwarts Express was leaving to Hogwarts, where she’d be deeply safe.

28. Timeturner

“If only I had that little Timeturner in my hands…” She whispered, thinking about the many things Paloma would be able to change from the past week whilst eating her bagel.

Miranda, her best friend blinked at her and even passed her hand through Pal’s sight. “You’re totally kidding, right?” She asked, and worried about that last idea of Pal to place a dungbomb on one of their dormitory mates, leading them to detention as soon as the little jokes were discovered under Paloma’s bed.

“Forget about it, we are in enough trouble.” Paloma said shaking her head, forgetting everything.

84. Angry

Her fist trembled; her eyes clearly represented a cascade of tears, smudging her simple though perfect make-up. Paloma was indeed angry and it was his entire fault; James was the cause of her heartbreak and emotional outbreak. There was no way the seventeen year old would get out of that cupboard and show everyone that she wasn’t fine about being disillusion regarding her long time school crush.

“Pal…you’ve been there three hours, I am sure you need some air…” Miranda said worried, carefully knocking the door as she tried to open it. No luck; Paloma had locked it with magic.

6. Divination

Her smile faded when a pile of about eleven books stood in front of her, most about the subject she clearly didn’t want to avoid: Divination. And for that, she was going to need to stay late, in order for her to learn the many forms she could predict the future, see ahead and open her mind to the signs, as she remembered reading some small notes from older students.

But apparently, as many books as she tried to read, there was nothing coming inside her mind, nor making it feel open to conclusions; she became more confused than ever.

15. Room
for Star-Lord

Nothing was better than a room decorated with Peter Pan drawings on its walls. Apart from her boyfriend’s, Jun Kim’s bedroom was her favorite. It made her think of her own, surrounded by clouds and London’s Clock Tower, memories of dreams of flying, just like Peter.
Paloma could only awe at the beauty the room and think about the story, know that the person whom it belonged to was probably the most fit for the place. She giggled and approached the piano, sat on the stool and began to play a tune commonly used for the play in theater performances.

39. Duel
for Star Lord

“Ready? Take defense, offense…” The professor called out to the students, Paloma and a fellow housemate. This was Paloma’s not first time in the duel room, but she was not used to hit people with spells, she was trembling there, hoping not to mess up and end up turning the boy into a walking fire ball or popsicle, or her being tossed off the dueling arena up in the air.
She gulped, made instant eye contact and a clumsy sudden wand and arm move, had muttered the spell earlier, so instead of hitting her opponent, she felt a heart punch.

53. Chase

“Kitty, Kitty! COPITO!” A twelve year old Paloma yelled from the corridor in her house into every room. She was worried, Copito wasn’t like that.

The white cat had disappeared hours ago, hoping to get some peace and not be part of the pet chase going on outside with the child and the other two pets, a mini pig and the dog. He was old, couldn’t run as fast, nor jump at every ridiculous move made by the little girl who always dressed as a ballerina. Suddenly, he just closed his eyes into a deep sleep unaware of the screams.

5. Astronomy

She looked at the professor, and around her. She was blank. Astronomy was probably the easiest and most entertaining classes but talking about the Earth’s layers and how the gravity laws of the sun, the movements, that it was all related to the whole humanity not being frozen to extinction was probably the only thought she could put through her head.

Those thoughts were soon dribbled on the sheet in front of her, with a little extra of animation of the Earth on an orbit around the sun, the seasons and then, a handclap waking her up of her daydream.

14. Hogwarts, A History

After ballet practice, and no Arithmancy lessons, Paloma searched for her Hogwarts, A History copy. Her head needed more clues of what she could expect the next year when she finally attended Hogwarts. She had already heard of the Mermaid People invading the school, she had already heard of Werewolves being around it from her sister and cousin.

So, she began to read: Muggle technology…cannot be used within the grounds…She blinked, she took a deep breath. How was she going to play her music? Did she have to take her guitar, and what about her piano practices? What a nightmare.

91. Future

Glance after glance out the curtain, Paloma kept gulping. This was going to be her first time dancing as Odette, in the Swan Lake, performing for the National Ballet Company. More shows were to follow, they had been rehearsing for weeks, and everything was perfect while then, so why was she nervous?

One more peek out to the audience and she finally smiled when she saw His face, his smile, this future that went far more than expected, that everything was worth keep going despite all time, pressures and anxieties.

“Paloma, it’s your turn in three, two, one…” Curtains up.

8. Potions

She walked down the hall, sneezing as if she had sniffed a bunch of dust. But no, this wasn’t dust, this was a cold, the most terrible Paloma had ever had in her life. And the weather wasn’t helping; it was humid, cold down to the bone. She was sure a fever was coming.

Finally, she heard Jun’s voice and ran towards him. “Please, please…tell me you have a spare bottle of Pepperup Potion, or any other Potions that could help.” She pleaded and sniffled. She exaggerated, she knew it. This was a wakeup call: Pay attention in Potions Class.

8. Care of Magical Creatures

She was following every instruction from the Book of Monsters, every written note from Care of Magical Creatures lessons. Why was the crup still behaving like mad? Paloma made sure that Vader, the terrorizer was not around, and that she was giving the small creature the right amount and type of food.

With a sigh, she stared down at the crup and shook her head. “I give up, little one. Every time I try to pet you, it’s a scratch or a murder attempt." And maybe, it was time to give up the dream to become a magical creature caretaker.

24. House Elf

Paloma nodded, even motioned saluting to every instruction the House Elf made to them as she walked into the kitchen. They had to be careful with all glass containers, to wash and clean every spot they used while baking those frog shaped cookies.

“No te…” She began to speak in Spanish to the confused House Elf and shook her head, “Ugh…don’t worry. I will make sure this kitchen is as spotless as you…” And soon after, they heard a crash from around the kitchen corner. She spoke too early, Vader had already put his claws in to break the rules.

23. Telescope
For Awarlesta Black

Staring through a telescope towards the stars was turning too much of the little group’s habit, just to maybe hang out at the Astronomy tower and joke a little about the day’s activities. And Paloma was so hooked on this, that it made her upset that Declan pulled her out of her staring and calling stars name game. She eyed the boy, passed her finger through the peek glass and smirked. “Ay, okay…go ahead, your turn, Declan.” She said, giving him that innocent smile.

Minutes later, Declan looked up from the telescope towards the group, gallantly showing a black eye.

[to clear up, she gave us permission to play a prank on Declan]
