100 Drabbles for the (mis)Adventures of Carter's Cooties - Sa13+ Portrayal of Cootie by Destiny Welcome, welcome! This is a set of Drabbles featuring Carter's cooties (as made famous by Destiny Shepard's lovely artwork). Disclaimer: The Harry Potter characters and universe belonging to J.K. Rowling. I'm not cool enough to make up such things. Also, the concept of cooties (and the idea of Carter having them) is also not mine. In case someone thought I was cool enough to invent those as well... Table of Contents -------------------------------------------- 35. Pureblood Carter's cooties were born with the ability to sniff out magic. Thus, they knew Carter was a wizard before he ever did. However, they found it unnerving the amount of muggle girls he knew. They vowed to fix that problem. Carter's parents thought it odd that they never heard him be interested in a girl growing up. Carter didn't notice. There were lots of boys his age that didn't like girls yet. However, when he got to Hogwarts his affinity for girls overloaded. You see, the cooties decided Carter would just be interested in blonde pureblood girls. Hello Malfoy family! |
61. Kiss Carter's cooties knew what was about to happen. They'd been preparing for this moment since discovering their master was a boy. That's right... it was nearly time for Carter's first kiss. "Do it!" they prompted. "Do you hear something?" Carter asked. He looked around confused. What did the strange voices want him to do? "Kiss the girl!" they insisted. Carter looked around confused once more. They wanted what? When his eyes finally settled on the girl... he was surprised. She kissed him! While the cooties were celebrating Carter discovered what he'd been hearing... the girl's friends giggling around the corner. |
100. Homework Carter's cooties knew that girls liked smart guys. The cooties hatched a plan. Every night they climbed into their master's ear and whispered various homework answers. After weeks the boy got the hint. Carter packed his bag full of every homework assignment he'd neglected and headed to the library. The cooties waited patiently as their person slowly unpacked his bag, arranged his books, unrolled his parchment and set his ink and quill to the side. Then Carter waited patiently for the answers to come to him. They never did. The cooties were too occupied with the Slytherin across the room. |
1. Herbology Carter's cooties always liked Herbology. It was a class filled with girls who didn't want to touch the dirt themselves. The cooties also knew that Carter had no problems with dirt. In fact... they had it under good authority that he liked it so much he ate it once. The cooties were thrilled when a girl approached Carter with the intent of asking him for help. Unfortunately, Carter had just finished unceremoniously scratching his face. The girl gave him an odd look. "What. I wasn't eating any. I haven't done that in years!" Carter exclaimed. The cooties were now disappointed. |
68. Roar The cooties did not approve of this! They did NOT approve one little bit. So what if she was a girl. This wasn't going to impress anyone. "ROARRR!" Carter bellowed. "No. More throat." the girl corrected. "Like this RAWWWWWWWWR!" Carter nodded and tried again. The cooties were growing restless. The two had been at this for HOURS! "There you got it!" the girl suddenly said. The cooties were astonished. Was that admiration in the girl's voice? They looked just in time to see Destiny give Carter a pat on the back. She was not as admiring as they had hoped. One of probably many to be dedicated to the craziness that is Destiny. |
12. Charms Carter was in charms class. They were working on cheering charms today. Carter liked the idea of cheering charms. He'd like to think if he were crazy he'd have an invisible audience in his head cheering him on. The cooties didn't really like the idea of Carter thinking. Carter soon met his partner for the assignment. After learning her name Carter replied back with his own and that he was charmed to meet her. The cooties approved of the clever word play. However, they quickly disapproved after Carter was hit with a cheering charm and found his joke overly hysterical. |
50. Boggart Carter’s cooties hated the fact that today Carter was going to face a boggart. How was Carter supposed to impress girls while being taunted by his worst fear? The cooties just hoped that the boggart turned into something frightening. They’d have to just admit defeat and find a new host otherwise. They held their breath as… Carter emerged from the closet. What was this? Their person was afraid of himself? They cringed as the Carter!clone hurled insults at the real Carter. After class a girl approached Carter. Carter was expecting this. You see, Carter knew that girls had insecurities too. |
51. Act The cooties were annoyed. How come Carter had to spend his one free afternoon catching up with Josh? "So... are you excited?" the Gryffindor asked. Carter nodded. "Of course. It's what I've been wanting to do for years." Josh laughed. "No... I meant for the girls!" Carter tilted his head and gave a bewildered look. "You act like an idiot sometimes mate." Josh replied still laughing. "Who says I'm acting?" Carter asked. "Really Amy? Really?" The cooties called in to the open air. "What? We've known he's an idiot for years." The cooties nodded. They've known this for years too. Dedicated to one of the many twitter arguments that Carter and Josh have. |
33. Classroom You enter the classroom. You are dismayed to see the only available seat is next to a certain Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. You hesitantly take the seat. He leans over and says, "I saw Destiny eat some dirt today." He doesn't specify if he is referring to the person or the turtle. You could picture it happening either way. Then you spot something odd... in the boy's hair. It looked oddly like a flailing bug. You blink a few times. Then you hear a small "HELP ME!" You plan on dropping the class as soon as possible. Potions makes you hallucinate. |
5. Astronomy The cooties knew that Astronomy was the perfect excuse for getting close to a girl. All Carter had to do was invite someone to study at the tower. The cooties had faith that that was simple enough that even he couldn't mess it up. Oh little did the cooties realize that Carter could mess anything up... You see... Carter did exactly what he was supposed to... he announced that he was looking for a study partner. However, so great was the response to be near the Captain and future star that he decided to just have a big study group. |
78. Author's Choice: Love and Destiny "Hey." Mia said helping herself to the empty seat next to Carter. "Soo..." the happy little Hufflepuff began, "I hear you love Destiny..." A slightly daydreamy look passed over the boy's eyes. "Yeah. Who wouldn't? She's so cute." Carter's cooties were freaking out about this revelation. They thought they had blocked such feelings. After a few seconds Mia broke the silence (that she most likely thought was awkward silence). "You're talking about your turtle, aren't you?" she asked. Carter raised an eyebrow. "Who else would I be talking about?" he asked. Mia shook her head. The cooties did the same. Dedicated to Mia (who still talks to Carter despite how they met) and kids everywhere that love their pets. |
66. Pace It was much too cold for Carter's usual run. This made him sad. He was once told that visualizing was an effective training method. So he settled into a spot in front of a window overlooking the lake. Here he pictured himself running. This brought back memories A little more than a year ago he was down there running... and Caroline decided to join him that day. He could still see her running ahead of him taunting him. "Pick up the pace!" she'd encourage. Carter never did. He liked letting her win. The cooties liked the view. Both missed Caroline. Dedicated to Cartoline and how cute they were. *misses them* |
14. Hogwarts, A History "Tell me about Hogwarts." Anya said. She'd just gotten her own letter and was eager to hear all she could. "Well... first year... I met Marilyn and Mina. Marilyn and I were working on an assignment -- racing chess pieces for Transfiguration. I met Mina in the Forbidden Forest." "The following year I met Marie... and started hanging out with Slytherin." "Then... a few years later I met Caroline after a quidditch match." And so Carter continued talking. The cooties rolled their eyes. This wasn't the "Hogwarts, A History" Anya was expecting. |
34. Parseltongue Carter zoned out once again. Why was it that his classes were so boring? Or, perhaps a better question would be: how did the girl in front of him get her hair to be so shiny. It was hypnotizing. The light shined here. The light shined there. Back, forth, back, and forth. Carter let out a yawn. "Have something you want to add Mr. Phillips?" he Professor addressed Carter. Carter blinked. "Uhh... it sounds uncomfortable..." "Speaking like a snake?" the Professor inquired. "Oh... I thought you said parasoltounge..." This was when the cooties realized their hold was too strong. |
59. Ignore The cooties were going to try something new. They figured if all of them collectively thought something then it may get through Carter's Today was the perfect day to test this theory. "Ignore it." the cooties thought. Carter twitched and scooted his way toward it. "Ignore it!" they said again. But Carter was still getting closer and closer. "IGNORE IT!!" they collectively thought!yelled. It wasn't working... Carter was going for it. And he made contact!!! (With a slice of cheesecake that had been taunting it.) "What took you so long?" someone asked. Carter shrugged. "Dunno." The cooties sighed. |
91. Future The crowd's cheers was deafening. Carter was surrounded by happy teammates. There was a small little girl with blonde hair in pigtails sitting on his shoulders. The little girl held a trophy high over her head. A short distance away, the most beautiful woman Carter had ever seen was smiling and waving. She was holding the hand of a little boy giving a thumbs-up. "Wake up." Josh said shaking his friend awake. Carter woke up with a huge grin on his face. "Good dream?" Josh asked. "The best." Carter replied. The cooties had no idea Carter was such a romantic. Dedicated to the fact that I really want Carter to have a happy ending... despite how horrible I am to him. |
81. Depression Carter found himself by the lake skipping rocks. Skipping rocks was oddly relaxing and Carter desperately needed to calm down. You see, he'd just found out that Marie was engaged and Caroline was dating a Hufflepuff. He knew he should be happy for them... but he just... wasn't. All he felt was a taunting in his head of how it wasn't him... how he wasn't good enough to make either of them happy. He threw another rock... which instantly plummeted to the bottom of the lake. He threw another with all his might. It didn't help. He was still depressed. |
94. Allergic "Go ahead. Try one." Cassie encouraged. Carter raised an eyebrow. "You sure?" he asked. She nodded enthusiastically. "Of course. Besides, you need to test drive them before you actually use them." "Okay." He thought for a moment. "Lumos couldn't match the brilliance of your smile." The cooties rolled their eyes. "Sorry, I'm allergic to cheesy." Cassie answered with a smirk and a playful shove. He frowned. "Hey, at least it was better than your last one." she offered with a reassuring smile. Carter thought that 'I think I belong in St. Mungos... because I'm mad for you.' was clever too. Dedicated to Dav and the lovely Cassie. Hehehe. Even if Cassie just likes to tease Carter. |
11. History of Magic "Carter. The point of us studying together is that you actually do some work." Mina said rolling her eyes. "But it's History of Magic." Carter complained. "Stuff happened. People blew up. We pretended to learn something from it. It's seriously all the same." The Ravenclaw hit him on the top of the head with some rolled up parchments. "Let's try this again. Who was Wendelin the Weird?" "Some weird guy named Wendelin obviously." he replied with a shrug. "It's a good thing you do well at quiddtich." she said shaking her head. The cooties agreed. He was a lost cause. Dedicated to everything Mina has put up with during the years. :D |
24. House elf Carter fell out of bed when he heard a very loud scream. He ran toward the kitchen pulling on a shirt at the same time. After missing the door... several times... he laughed at the scene unfolding in front of him. Destiny was standing on top of the table armed with a spoon. "Carter! Keep it away!" "I just asked her what she wanted for breakfast." Tinka said with large tearful eyes. "Oh, it's fine. She just doesn't like house elves." he said trying to keep from laughing hysterically. Carter's cooties knew letting Destiny move in was a bad idea. Dedicated to the many adventures that Carter and Destiny are still to have. :D |
41. Thestrals "What do they look like?" Marie asked. Carter hadn't even realized that he was staring off into the forest. But Marie seemed to know what he was looking and thinking about. "They look exactly like what you'd expect something that only someone who has lost someone would see." He frowned. Today was Miguel's birthday. "I'd imagine they look incredible. There's not that many things that leave you speechless Phillips. Especially not the deep kind of speechless." she said. "Don't stay there all day." Carter stood up. "He'd want me to have cheesecake." The cooties were proud. Carter was growing up. Dedicated to the fact that Carter and Marie have managed to not hate each other after everything they've been through together. Well... they don't usually hate each other. |
