100 Drabbles for the Half-Blood Prince - Sa13+ Hi there! :hello: In case you don't know me, my name is Brigette and I am a HUGE Severus Snape fan (in case my username didn't give that away :P). This is my second attempt at writing 100 drabbles, and hopefully I will be able to fully complete this one since they're about my number one favorite HP character :D Disclaimer: The wizarding world of Harry Potter and the characters within belong to the totally awesome J.K. Rowling. So though I like to pretend Snape is mine, he truly is not. :( 1. Herbology 2. Muggle Studies ~~~~ {90} Present January 9, 1960 They said she couldn’t do it - she would see the error in marrying “that Muggle” - she would come crawling back, begging to be accepted into their magical home again. They were wrong. She was here in St. Mungo’s about to hold her newborn son. She’d had a rough, severe life, but she was here. She was happy. “What are you going to name him?” She had given this much thought. Her son would be great, she knew it. A great, powerful wizard, like the emperors of Rome she had studied about in Muggle Studies. “Severus. His name is Severus Snape.” |
{3} Transfiguration September 1971 “I can’t do it!” Severus threw his wand down in frustration and crossed his arms. He glared at the match that, no matter how hard he tried, just wouldn’t turn into a needle. “You can, Sev,” Lily encouraged gently, standing beside him. “You’re just moving your wand wrong.” She picked up his wand and handed it to him. When she grabbed his wrist to guide him in the exact wand movement, it was fortunate for him that she wasn’t focused on his now-slightly-red face. He said the incantation as she directed his hand… …and the match changed into a needle. |
{25} Sorting Hat September 1, 1971 Severus felt nervous as the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. “Ah, I see lots of ambition in you and a great thirst to prove yourself. Slytherin would suit you well... But what’s this? A great amount of bravery deep down – Gryffindor would help you develop your hidden courage, my boy.” Gryffindor. Lily had just been sorted there. Uncertain, Severus’s eyes moved to the Lion table, searching for his best friend… The boy with the dark hair and glasses caught his eye instead. His skin crawled. NO! Not Gryffindor! “No? Well no matter. I say you belong in SLYTHERIN!” |
{91} Future Late August 1975 “What’s your favorite name, Sev?” Lily asked suddenly. “What?” “Like… What do you want to name your children someday?” Severus looked over at Lily, puzzled. “I dunno. I don’t think I’ll have kids.” “You don’t want kids?” He shrugged. “What about you?” “I do, and I’d like to name my son Harry. I like that name.” “Harry?” “Yeah. Is there something wrong with it?” Severus shook his head slowly. “No. It’s a nice name, I guess... I’m sure you’d be a great mum.” Lily smiled. “You could be a great father, Sev. You wouldn’t be like yours.” He looked away. |
{38} Patronus May 1977 Today’s DADA lesson was about casting a Patronus. It was incredibly interesting, at least to me, but it was also rather boring as the professor wasn’t planning on letting us actually try to cast one. I wasn’t the only unhappy one though as I could still hear Potter and Black obnoxiously mumbling their complaints on the Gryffindor side. A soft “shh,” often followed, but I didn’t dare look at the red-haired prefect it came from. “You need a strong, happy memory to conjure a Patronus,” the professor said. I chanced a glance at the Gryffindors. She noticed… then looked away. |
{9} Defense Against the Dark Arts Ghosts are transparent. Around Late March/Early April 1997 …How was Potter still in school? Dumbledore, clearly. But surely it wouldn’t hurt to hold the boy back a few years if these were the answers he gave. It was clear Potter’s brain came from his moronic father. That was the ridiculous sort of answer he would have given, thinking himself so impressive because of his smart aleck reply. Only Severus saw him for what he was. “Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter. ‘Ghosts are transparent.’” Snape sneered at the glare he received. Author's Note: The Snape quote is taken from Chapter 21 "The Unknowable Room" in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. |
{78} Author's Choice [Always] September 1, 1991 – Start of Term Feast Dumbledore wasn’t lying all those years ago when he said the boy had her eyes. I was now seeing them for myself. They weren’t exactly the same as hers though. Her eyes were happy and kind and always made me feel like she was looking straight through me. The boy’s did that too, but these unnerved me. These eyes mocked me. They reminded me - not that I needed reminding - of my biggest failure and mistake. It’s your fault she isn’t here. She never would’ve chosen you anyway. She always hated you. I could not deny any of it. |
