AngryWinter 1997


Kingsley had never been an angry man but every once in a while it became necessary for him to tell the rest of the aurors that they needed to start pulling their weight in the team. It was never a pleasant thing for him to do but he did it for the good of the team.

"Look, I understand that things are tough at the moment. It's like that for us all. But that's no excuse not to turn up for work and not to even let us know you won't be here," he was never impressed with people turning up late, or not at all.

Ford Anglia
Summer 1993

There was another Order meeting that day. Kingsley quite liked Order meetings because he got to catch up with some of the friends he didn't often get a chance to see.

"How's the Ford Anglia coming along, Arthur?" he called across the table to the other end where the father of the Weasley clan was sitting.

"It's going great! You'll have to see it some time!" came the reply.

Kingsley chuckled to himself. Arthur was forever asking to show him these muggle things he would never really understand. He liked muggles. He just didn't understand some of their belongings.

Patronus
September 1996

"He said my patronus was pathetic!" Tonks exclaimed, throwing her hands into the air as she walked into the Auror office.

"Who?" Kingsley asked as he looked up from the parchment he had been writing on before Tonks had spoken.

"Snape!" she responded, her hair red with anger.

Kingsley stood up and walked around the desk, gently placing a hand on Tonks' shoulder, "Hey, it's better than his. I mean what good is a doe to anyone? Your patronus could eat his for breakfast if it chose to."

Tonks smiled a little at Kingsley, although the comment Snape had made had clearly hurt her. She knew he was right though, and so did he.

Chocolate
Winter 1995

"Any chance you have chocolate, Kingsley?" came the voice of a familiar werewolf from the corner of the room.. If he hadn't spoken at that point, Kingsley probably wouldn't have known he was there.

"Rough night, huh?" he asked, although he didn't really expect an answer. He opened the cupboard and took out some chocolate for Remus. Poor guy, he thought to himself as he handed it to him.

"Thanks," Remus said, his voice telling Kingsley that he was extremely grateful, as he always was.

"Any time," Kingsley replied. And he meant it. Werewolf or not, Remus was his friend.

Allergic
Summer 1978

His throat had swollen up, he felt like vomiting and he couldn't stop shaking. "M-Mom.." he choked out into the room, followed by a violent cough that shook his insides. Then, he passed out.

Three hours later, Kingsley woke up to find himself in a hospital bed in St Mungo's. "W-Where am I?" the boy asked.

Two pairs of grown up arms went around the boy, "You know that milkshake you had, son?" his dad began. "It turns out you're allergic to milk."

At that age, Kingsley didn't understand what that meant. He was just happy he was alive and that the nasty illness hadn't killed him.

Quidditch
Summer 1995

"Kingsley, we got tickets!" exclaimed the excited voice of Arthur Weasley, the twins standing beside him with beaming faces.

"Oh, to the Quidditch World Cup?" Kingsley asked, smiling back at the beaming Weasleys.

"Yeah!" the two twins responded, looking extremely happy with the news.

Kingsley agreed with them, although secretly he was somewhat disappointed. He had also applied for tickets and obviously hadn't been lucky enough to get some. "Ah well, there's always next time," he thought to himself.

Hogwarts, A History
Summer 1997

It was shortly after the end of the final battle at Hogwarts and Kingsley was standing in front of the remains of the school, just watching the glum faces of many of the people there. The remains of books were flying around in the wind, along with many other items, but the storm that had been brewing for years was finally over.

One page from Hogwarts, A History, came and landed in front of him and he smiled faintly. "I guess it's probably for the best that those books were destroyed... History has been changed forever now."

Sorting Hat
September 1981

"Shacklebolt, Kingsley," came the voice of Minerva McGonagall.

The eleven year old boy stepped up to the sorting hat rather nervously and sat down. He hated feeling like everyone was watching him. He had never been the most confident of people. He just wanted to get through life unnoticed.

"Hmm, well you're a smart one, aren't you?" a voice said from somewhere. "I think Ravenclaw for you!"

Then, a louder voice that sounded much the same as the first shouted, "RAVENCLAW!" into the room and Kingsley quickly headed for the Ravenclaw table, glad the whole ordeal was over with.

Owl
June 1981

There was a sudden tapping on the window and Kingsley turned away from the book he had been reading to see an owl tapping it's beak on the window. He let it in and untied the letter attached to it's foot.

He was just about to take the letter to his dad when he realised the letter was actually addressed to him!

He opened it up and saw that it was a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He knew he was a wizard but he had always been scared of not getting his letter. He didn't need to worry any more.

Spell
September 1981
Having arrived at Hogwarts, Kingsley was sitting in class with all of his classmates learning a new spell; wingardium leviosa.

It wasn't like it was the easiest spell in the world for an eleven year old to learn but then he seemed to be doing just fine. His book was currently hovering in front of him as he was using the spell on it and he felt like he had some sort of power and like he was able to do something good. And it felt great to know that he wasn't a squib; that magic really was a part of him.
