Amelia was trying so hard not to laugh right now. She had actually covered her mouth with her hands; still, snorting sounds were escaping. She was so mean, but she couldn’t help it. Her boyfriend was so incredibly adorable and silly at the same time.

It was bad enough that he had thought sundials were some kind of muggle phone application, but when the Astronomy Professor looked at him like he was Muggleborn, she laughed even harder.

Amelia knew that Zayden would flip when she told him. She was terrified. So terrified, she actually contemplated not telling him at all. Maybe he wouldn’t notice… until she started showing. Oh dear. Not really a good idea then.

You can do this, Amelia. It’s not like he’s going to leave. He would never do that to you.

She took a few deep breaths and steeled herself. She was a Reinhart, and Reinharts weren’t cowards. Her legs shook like jelly.

Zayden was devouring the cupcakes on the platter like there was no tomorrow. He wanted to make sure that he got all of them before Ellie stole them from him. They were HIS cupcakes.

When Amelia appeared out of nowhere, he gagged on the cupcake he had just placed in his mouth. She was looking at him as if he was some kind of monster.

“Sometimes I wonder why the Sorting Hat placed you in Slytherin. Then you do something like this... It makes perfect sense.”

Zayden opened his mouth in the middle of chewing and just stared at her.

Zayden was incredibly worried as he waited for Amelia to come out of her Common Room. What was taking so long?

Patient. He needed to be patient, but darn it he was concerned!

Whenever Amelia was sick or hurting, he felt like he had to do something...anything to make her better. It was in his nature, how he was. Protective. Very protective of the person who meant more to him than anyone else in the world.

Just when he was about to see if he could get another Hufflepuff to extract his fiancee, she had appeared. “Thank God, Amelia!”

Amelia couldn't believe that it was already almost time. She had all the dresses picked out, as well as the flowers and other decorations. Of course Zayden had helped her, and so had her friends.

Her mother had offered to assist her as well as her father... but Zayden had been way too proud and inflexible to let them pay for everything. He was so subborn.

With a smile on her face, she finished filling out the last wedding invitation before putting her quill down. Zayden would mail these when he got home from work unless he was too tired.

Amelia had given up. Brain cancer was quite a slap in the face to anyone, but still... Witnessing the love of his life like this killed Zayden.

He had decided that he would tell Amelia the gender of their baby. Picking the most romantic way possible, he left her a note telling her to meet him where they had their first date.

Hoping she would come, he smiled and laid down pieces of paper through the park in a trail for her. They said things like: 'I love you' and 'You are so beautiful'.

Amelia knew that the Abrams were stubborn people… but it never ceased to amaze her how badly Zayden made her want to bang her head against the wall.

“It will taste good, I promise,” she lied as she held the flask out for him. “Mmm. Yummy potion.”

But of course he was not two, so that failed and earned her a scowl from him; which she deserved.

“I made it in Potions class and tried it myself. It isn’t poison and it will help you with your allergies.” Which would be perfect for when he bought her a Unicorn.

It was all so unreal. After nine months of waiting Isabel was here. Zayden was filled with both happiness and fear as he looked down at his baby girl.

“Isabel, I love you so much and I promise that I will always be here to protect you and mommy.”

Speaking of mommy, he cast a glance at Amelia as she slept in her hospital bed. Yes, he couldn’t ignore his feelings of uncertainty… but he knew that he loved his daughter and wife with every fiber of his being. He would be there for them always.

Amelia was practically begging her oldest son now; if he didn’t come it wouldn’t be the same.

“I can’t mom. I have a date tonight.” With some girl he had met at a club a few days ago. He had forgotten her name already, but that didn’t matter. It wasn’t the important thing. Neither was the fact that it was Mother’s Day.

“Later, mom.”

Ignoring the fact that she looked as if he had given her a slap to the face, he turned and walked off. Not like dad couldn’t make her feel better. Or he actually cared.
