Thunderbird Common Room
|
September/October ish 2103 TL :3 come plaaaaaaay? It was after dinner and Joana found herself pacing the common room with her two-way mirror clutched tightly in her hand. She had never gone this long without speaking to Jacob and the initial fiery onslaught of irritation and anger had given way to concern and fear. Why wasn't he picking up? The magical phenomena that had taken Hogwarts several years back never struck in the same place twice, so her boyfriend didn't have the excuse that he was stuck in a time warp this time. The papers and WWN would have reported on that by now if that were the case. So then WHAT was his excuse? What was going on? She had the time difference between Ilvermorny and Hogwarts down pact and she KNEW he was always back in his dorm at this hour. They had...agreed upon it. ...so then why...wasn't he...answering her? After what felt like the hundredth attempt in the past hour, the seventh year flopped down on the floor in front of the fireplace and just stared up at the ceiling. |
Diana Rose had a pile of homework she did not want to do, so she decided to see who was in the common room. She spotted Joana on the floor. She looked...upset? She paused, unsure whether to interject. "Hey there, Joana," she said with a soft twang as she took a seat in one of the chairs near the fireplace. "Is everything all right?" Of course she knew the answer was no, but this way Joana had an out if she didn't want to talk about it. |
Joana had grown a fondness for the younger Thunderbird's manner of speech, as well as the girl herself. So she was sitting up with a small groan and trying to appear less disheveled and dramatic about her whole personal situation. "I don't know," she sighed and ran her fingers through her thick brown hair. Her scrunchie must still be on her nightstand, which was inconvenient. "Just trying to get ahold of my boyfriend..." she sighed again and held up her two-way-mirror, international communications model. "... and he isn't answer and it's not like him." Not at all. In fact, Jacob was more often than not the one who was initiating calls. And now there was just...nothing. |
Oh. Boyfriend problems. Diana Rose nodded sympathetically, though she had noooo clue what to really say about it. She eyed the two-way mirror. It was totally possible that her boyfriend was sick or had a family emergency or something... That wasn't helpful, though. "Well..." she said, beginning her sentence even more slowly than normal. "Is it possible he's just busy? Maybe something came up." Look at her, being helpful. She smiled supportively. "Maybe if you find some distraction, time will go by more quickly and then before you know it, you'll be talking to him!" |
Possible? Sure. Probable? No. Which was essentially her contradicting herself in the same thought but this was Jacob and it was so unlike him it was more practical to think of him as being dead than to busy to contact her. Was that vain? Had he spoiled her entirely too much up to now? The answer was unequivocally yes, Jacob had spoiled her with his attentive passion...so maybe she just needed to take a few breaths and calm down. It was NEWT year, after all. "I don't know...the last time there was this prolonged silence was when that magical storm engulfed all of Hogwarts and suspended it in time," she sighed as her hand reached for the thin chain around her neck and lightly dragged the promise ring along it, twisting it here and there as well. "I just have a bad feeling...something has happened..." Again. But still, she smiled at the younger Thunderbird. "I could paint more. I haven't quite taken my watercolors out of their bag this term." |
That reference to the magical storm...didn't seem like an indication that all was well for Joana. Diana Rose hmmed while she thought of what to say. She didn't want to give her housemate false hope, but at the same time...surely there was some reasonable explanation or something else the girl could do to get reassurance everything was alright. "Do y'all have any other way to contact him?" she suggested. "Or check in with his parents? Maybe he's just feelin' under the weather or swamped with classwork." She perked up at the thought of painting. "That's a good idea," she said. "I can join you if you'd like some company." |
eep. maybe wrapping this tl up since the broadcast happened and such :3 Joana frowned a bit more, deeply so, and took a bit of her hair to idly twist and release for no reason other than to have something to occupy her hands with. "They haven't heard from him either...owls come back to them with the letters still attached to their talons..." It was...unsettling. She knew her cheeseball so well he was like an extension of herself. Something that was only natural considering they had grown up together, even down to the fact that their mothers had changed their diapers side by side. Giving her hair a break, her fingers traced the thin chain of the necklace around her neck but cease from going too far and touching the ring tucked under her shirt. "Suppose the only logical thing is to remain calm seeing as nothing has been reported in the papers or on the WWN." Maybe it...really was just NEWT studies... "Tomorrow maybe? After class. We can meet on the grounds somewhere." Fresh air, even more than usual, was necessary. |
