Dining Hall & Kitchen

Dining Hall & Kitchen - First Floor

The Dining Hall and kitchen area are easy to locate for any student and no matter if it's a feast or just every day dining, students can find a variety of foods they are sure to enjoy. When the doors open the first thing that hits your eye is the tiled floor and in the center the Ilvermorny crest. The seating is set up in sections with long tables and shorter tables with full chairs. Tables may sit from four to eight students depending on the length. The sections are shown by the house colored tablecloths and each section has a mascot banner hanging from the ceiling. When it is feast time you will find students gathered at the tables and their food will appear before them. During regular dining times during the school term, students are welcome to find the areas of interest in the kitchen before heading to their tables in the dining room. Sections in the kitchens for lunch or dinner are pizza, subs, bagels, Chinese, a place to make special orders, and even a coffee counter in the far end where one can get coffee, tea, latte, espressos, and so much more. If you are in for breakfast you can find the sections with waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, cereal, and donuts instead of the lunch and dinner foods.

Tahlia was a lover of coffee. She knew it was bad, but she adored it. She tried to not drink too much though. She knew her mother would kill her if she tried to drink too much. So she just limited herself to two cups a day. She'd already had her morning coffee, and now she was going to have one with her lunch. Hopefully it would keep her awake for an afternoon of lessons. The fifth year put two sugars into her latte, before she headed off to find herself a seat at one of the tables. She'd already grabbed a couple of slices of pizza, and she was looking forward to having a good lunch.

The brunette sat herself down, and sighed. It was nice to just sit down, and not have to think about anything. She picked her cup up, and took a bite. "Mmm..." She murmured with a smile. There really was nothing quite like coffee.

Exam year was...not as crazy as Ezra had anticipated. All the Hogwarts kids last term had acted like their exams were the actual end of the world - and yet he was not at all concerned about his upcoming exams. He had never really gotten upset about taking tests - he was usually pretty good at them. Hopefully his confidence would pay off, and of COURSE he would actually study at some point...but when that was, was yet to be decided. It was still MONTHS away, after all.

He was currently reading a letter from home, as his mom went on and on about the new housing association she had joined and how draconian their views on lawn ornaments were. She REALLY needed to get out and date more. If only they had something like Incendio for No-Majs...

Engrossed in his letter, he totally did NOT notice that he was walking RIGHT towards a table, instead of in BETWEEN them as he had intended - and he stubbed his toe on the edge. Hard. Letting out a yelp, he dropped his own coffee - RIGHT into the lap of a poor girl who was sitting there, just minding her own business.

"AHHH!" he exclaimed in embarrassment - and also in response to the HOT coffee now dripping down his hands, and all over the letter he'd just spilled it over.

OOOOOH. MYYYY. GOSHHHH.

This was quite possibly the worst thing that had ever happened to him. EVER.

It's mid May and students have been busy with their classes, the sixth years stressing over exams, and the seventh years are starting to really feel their senioritis. During this time of year, there is one tradition that the Americans have held on to, Prom. Even at Ilvermorny, it has been all the conversations of who will go with who and what dress will be worn. The evening has come and the dining hall has been changed into an elaborate dance floor.

The Prom committee made sure to go all out with the decorations and set up. Tables are set on one side to have a seat, grab some snacks or drink some punch. The main area has balloons scattered, but plenty of room to dance and have a great time. A small stage is up front with the DJ making sure students have the best music to celebrate this fun-filled evening. No Prom is complete without a photo booth when you first walk in.

So stop with your date or grab your friends and make sure to get your pictures to remember the night. Since this is at Ilvermorny all years are welcome to join in the fun but a curfew for first through fourth years is set for 9 p.m. and older classmen have until 11.

Once she had finally settled on a date and a dress, Maesi was looking forward to going to the prom. At least for a little bit. School sanctioned parties were always at least a little bit lame. It was the after-parties that were always the best time.

Still, she made sure she looked fabulous before her date came to pick her up... who was way too early, btw. The fifth year could not be one of the first ones there. Nope, she'd much rather make an entrance so all eyes could be on her.

Ugh. Maesi peeked into the party area from the doorway. Honestly, could they have picked a lamer place than the dining hall? And just as she thought, hardly anyone there yet. At least the music was somewhat acceptable. Moving back into the hallway, she gave her date a bright smile. "Just need to touch up my lipstick!" Pulling out her compact mirror, she slowly tended to her lips, making the most of her time before they could actually make their entrance.

Bazinga 11-20-2017 02:59 AM

Was it all looking alright? Though she had left the dining hall hours ago to get ready Madelyn was already back double checking everything and making sure things were going smoothly. She took her job seriously and on the Prom committee, she wasn't going to let the seventh years have a bad last dance. Especially, Will and Khalil, they meant the most to her and she would do anything to make sure tonight was special. Though was Khalil even coming? Yes, of course, he would, she didn't see him missing a party at all.

Madelyn looked around as she danced a bit knowing Will would be there shortly, but before he had come she noticed someone else walk in and then walk out. What was her sister doing? She headed that way, "Maesi lets get some pictures together. Mom and dad will love seeing them. They might not be the closest two sisters, but Madelyn still loved her little sister and wanted to have some fun with her tonight.

Aurora/ Lissy! <3

Jeremy stood coolly by the entrance as he waited for Aurora. His girlfriend. Yep, it was official since a few weeks ago but he still liked thinking of her as his girlfriend. Dressed in a formal suit minus the tie (because he was too cool for one) and with his hair neatly styled, he fidgeted with a balloon that had somehow found it's way away from the rest.

Jer kept looking around, obviously searching for Aurora. The first time he wanted to do when she got there was to dance. Maybe afterwards they could get pictures together and then something to eat.

Grey, plus Reed/Lea (and mention of Jeremy)

No matter how awkward she felt knowing that there weren’t a lot of people she really knew that would be there, Kayleigh hadn’t actually had the thought of not going to the prom. People meant stories and she liked those. Not only that, but she liked her dress. There might have been an awkward moment of realizing she’d been pretty much on her own in picking it out since she didn’t really think Grey was a good person to ask and she was even more certain that Uncle Finn wasn’t an expert in dresses, but she’d managed it. Plus, it was her favorite color, practically her trademark color, which made it that much better.

Still, she’d waited outside the entrance, shifting her feet as she wondered how long it would be until her brother got there. Giving Jeremy a smile as she saw him waiting too, but otherwise staying quiet for now. Not everyone wanted to hear her theories after all, so she’d started keeping them to herself. Actually, she’d taken to writing them down to show her uncle after they were out of school for the summer, in case they would give him trip ideas.

MunchyBubbles 11-22-2017 07:06 PM

Lil, and whoever else we are with! Haha

Cam hadn’t really given much thought to the Prom, seeing as he usually kept to himself and the only one he really talked to was his sister. Public venues with lots of people weren’t really his thing, but when Lil had asked, he could not say no. So here he was, black suit, grey tie and all

He adjusted said tie and looked around as he walked in and the corners of his lips turned up in a soft smile as he saw his twin there.

“You look good Lilac.” He said rather stiffly, the boy wasn’t super used to giving compliments, especially to his sister, but the soft tone of his voice gave away his sentiments. His green eyes looked around for a moment before settling back on his sister.

“Are we meeting someone here Lil?” He had thought she had mentioned something about dates? But perhaps she had been hungry and he hadn’t fully been paying attention..

Oops?

Pictures. Sure, she wouldn't mind getting some pictures. She did love taking selfies and having other people photograph her. But she couldn't get any pictures yet! She had even made her grand entrance yet!

"Fiiiine, but in a minute. I can't just slip in unnoticed, you know. Besides, I need to get some pictures with Brandon... I mean, Braedon, first." She glanced over at her date who was standing there looking hot, but also awkward. Probably because Madelyn completely ignored him. But he'd get over it. She sent him a coy smile and wiggled her fingers at him.

Turning back to Madelyn, she said, "Look, can you get the DJ to play some sort of show stopping song so we can make our entrance?" She was on the prom committee so she had complete faith in her. Then she could do the pictures and all.

Aurora always loved a good dance - it was a great excuse to get all dressed up and try out new hair and makeup products. Single or with someone, she was always sure that she dressed her best so she could be the center of attention. She WAS a Chae after all - they didn't give less than 100% on anything, ESPECIALLY when it came to outfits.

She approached Jeremy with a grin, kissing him on the cheek as she came up from behind. "I like that you skipped the tie. They're soooo overrated," she told him matter of factly. It was true - who wore TIES anymore? Seriously.

Mentions of everyone!

Why did she know Maesi would make a big deal out of pictures. It was always a production. Couldn't they just blend in and have fun.
As for her date, she looked at the boy and gave a smile to him. "You look nice." Speaking of dates, where was her own? She looked around to see where Will ran off to. Probably with Khalil somewhere, which was scary all on its own.

"I'll see what I can do with the Dj, but not making any promises." She wasn't even sure she'd ask the DJ, this was the seventh years night, not hers. Speaking of seventh years they were lacking a few. Hopefully, they'd be coming soon. "Just find me when you are ready. I'm going to go find Will and Khalil."

She turned and headed back into the area. It was gorgeous how they decorated it. She was so proud of her committee and so excited to look so pretty and get to do all the prom things. "Oh wow Aurora you look beautiful and Jeremy love the suit." Maybe she could get a dance later.

She turned to see more coming in and gave a wave to Cam and Kayliegh as she walked towards the DJ booth.

Even though she said she wouldn't she was going to talk to the DJ.

SarcasticStrawberry 11-28-2017 12:22 AM

Hi if anyone wants to grab her

Dang… She was looking way too good to be heading to this prom solo. Who knew a girl could take this long to get really to try to impress not a single boy… Well not a specific one anyway. After the year she had with her gymtastics injury and everything. Positive that everyone was already downstairs having the time of their lives.

Blakeney fluffed her hair one more time before entering the Dining hall. Did everyone have a date but her? Ugh… Well in that case she would just have to make a grand entrance all of her own. Or… she could just slip in from the back and get table. Yeah that’s what she was going to do.

She should probably find Madelyn. Where was Langley and Jayce? She would have to find them. Since this would be their last prom together. Also was her twin there somewhere? Hopefully mom didn’t send them the same dress. That was so 5 five year old Crabtree twins. They were way to old for that now.

Jeremy stopped his fidgeting with the balloon the instant he felt the lips pressed against his cheek. He dropped it to turn his full attention on the most gorgeous girl in all of the world. His heart did some sort of a flutter the moment he set eyes on her. Who says guys didn't get all weak and vulnerable when they saw their girl especially all dressed up like Aurora was?

"Forget about me. Look at you. Beautiful doesn't even cut it.'' Man, wasn't he lucky to have scored her? In return, he moved in, kissing her on her lips. "Want to dance?'' Jer asked when he reluctantly pulled away.

Of course Madelyn was acting like a cheerleader - as per usual. Aurora would be shocked if she HADN'T been handing out compliments like candy at the front door. Although she wasn't complaining about it this time. Aurora LIVED for people telling her she looked amazing. She smiled happily at the girl and flipped her hair over her shoulder.

"Why thank you Madelyn, you look very nice as well," she added. And she actually DID mean it, too!

Inspired by Madelyn's upbeat greeting, Aurora found herself looking over at another girl - whose name and house Aurora couldn't tell you, to be honest - walked in, and she felt the desire to pay it forward. You know, being KIND and all that. What had gotten in to her this evening?

"I LOVE your dress!" she called out to the girl as she walked by. And she didn't mean that in a backhanded way either. She really genuinely did!

Why was she so giddy? Perhaps it was the whole idea of PROMS and getting dressed up and having boy candy on her arm - it was a nice distraction from JARVEYS and making her absolutely giddy! Weird.

She grinned and blushed before she kissed him back. "Of course! Also, is there any food around here?" she asked as she took his hand and gave it a squeeze. "I've been doing some stress exercising to help get my brain off JARVEYs so I have TOTALLY earned the extra calories," she pointed out. Plus, she was wearing shapewear under her dress, so she could afford to stuff her face a bit and not feel like a bloated nightmare in the tight fitting number.

"Great!" Grinning, Jer pulled her towards the dance floor. Without hesitation, his moved to put his arms around her. "Lots of food by the looks of it.'' And he nodded towards the section with the dishes. "All you can eat.'' He would be joining her in this but not because of JARVEYS or anything. "We've got to take pictures too. Lots of silly ones.''

This was going to be a fun night!

"Oh, I'm sure you can work your charm," Maesi told her sister as she said she couldn't promise anything with the DJ. She'd totally do it herself, because she knew that she could probably get him to play whatever she wanted, but that would sort of defeat the purpose. She had total faith in Madelyn. "Okay, byeeee!"

Maesi turned back to Braedon and fixed his tie, then grabbed his hand to pull him towards the doorway again and wait for their cue to enter. She was sure she could count on her sister to come through for her with something amazing. She was always good for that type of thing. She glanced at a few others that were so self-absorbed that they didn't even say hello to her as they arrived. Ugh, so rude! Maesi tossed her hair over her shoulder, gave her best smile to her date, and turned her eyes towards the party area. She was ready!

Ali/Jeremy!

Normally Samara was a tea drinker but this afternoon she was in the mood for coffee. An orange mocha latte to be exact. Maybe a bacon cheeseburger as well and some fries. Not that those things would go all to well with a latte but she didn't really care. It was time to indulge in something she wanted despite her slight lactose issue, which she was taking potions for to help with the symptoms.

Entering the kitchen she headed straight for the coffee station. Selecting a large cup she went about fixing herself her desired drink adding just a hint more orange flavor to it. With the steaming hot latte in hand, Sammy moved towards the food after getting a plate, napkin and utensils. The goal in mind being that cheeseburger, hopefully with bacon. Mmm bacon.. how she loved it so much!

Right there in the center of one of the tables was what she was looking for. Right next to th- ... hotdogs. Her twin brothers favorite. For a brief moment she contemplated getting both food items just because. There was no reason to though, she wouldn't eat all of that food by herself. With a soft sigh she reached for the burger instead setting it on her plate.

Hotdogs were the only reason Jeremy had been to the kitchen that afternoon. He had been craving the snack for practically the entire day but among studies, lessons and the girlfriend, Jeremy hadn't found the time to fix his favourite snack. Not until that moment when he was putting two dogs together. His mouth was watering as the delicious scent wafted to his nostrils. However, at that moment (when he was about to dump a generous amount of grated cheese on them) he happened to look up.

"Sam!'' he thought wildly.

Ugh.

He was in no mood to talk to her!

Without much of a thought, Jer dove under the nearest table in the hopes of avoiding her altogether. You see, it was too late for him to dash for the door as Sam was already there. He pulled his knees up to his chin and wrapped his arms around his legs, watching Sam's feet parade around the Kitchen.

Kolyander 06-28-2018 01:50 PM

Jer!

It was just as she was reaching to pick up the tongs so she could add some bacon onto her cheese burger as well as other fixings that there was a loud sound behind her. It wasn't ear splitting, no, but it was loud enough in the near empty kitchen. Not only had it made Sam jump but her plate went up into the air and then down onto the floor at her feet shattering into pieces, her burger hitting the floor as well.

"Oh, come on!" she groaned stared at the mess at her feet. Blue eyes shifting around to find the cause of whatever it was that had startled her. Sure there was glass and food everywhere but at least it hadn't been her drink that would have been bad.

With a deep sigh she pulled out her wand to clean the mess. "Something doesn't want me to enjoy my lunch this afternoon..." Grabbing a napkin to wipe a bit of ketchup off her shoe that was when she noticed him. Beneath a table. What in the world was he doing? It didn't appear to her that he was looking for something... no it seemed like he was hiding. There was a deep nagging feeling in her chest and the pit of stomach telling her that he was hiding from her. Jeremy avoiding her was one thing, him hiding under a table to keep from being near her... hurt.

Sucking in a slow breath she forced her feelings into check. No crying. Not a word was said. Grabbing another plate she went about fixing lunch once again. When her burger was to her liking and she had some fries on the plate as well she set the plate down beside her latte. Picking up another plate she went ahead and set two hotdogs on it with the fixings she knew were Jer's favorite.

With the plate in hand she walked to the table he was sat under, knelt down and silently held the plate out to him. Samara tried to lock eyes with him even for the briefest second if he allowed it. She missed him more than words could say. He didn't have to say anything, if he accepted the plate of food that would be something.

Jer frowned. What had been that noise? It was sad to say that he could not investigate, given his current position. He hadn't jumped at that sound but the shattering of the plate. Jeezums! That was loud! The damp smack of some sort of food hit the wall or the floor out of sight. Sam was causing quite the mess. He remained silent, still huddled under the table. There was no way he wanted Sam to find him. Was there some how he could crawl out of here?

Yes, crawling out unnoticed would be a great idea.

If the twin hadn't noticed him.

He met her eyes and quickly looked away. Then he let out a breath that he hadn't realised he was holding when her face disappeared. Now was the perfect time to make his escape.

Yet Jer was still sitting there.

He got a surprise in the form of a plate with two hot dogs sitting atop it. His stomach rumbled loudly at the scent and look of it. But his stubbornness refused to let him reach for it. She could go feed that guy instead. Zeplin? Zepper? Whatever his name was. And the stupid baby.

Jer continued hugging his legs to himself and looking anywhere but Sam.

Kolyander 07-05-2018 12:27 PM

Jer!

Sam stood there holding the plate of food out to him, a peace offering in a sense, if Jer was willing to take it. Any flicker of a smile that might have tried to form on her face was gone. Not only did the plate of food go ignored but so did she. She had heard his stomach growl and yet nothing.

She set the plate of hot dogs down on the table. "How long is this going to go on?" Sam asked quietly kneeling down on the floor in front of the table. "At least look at me, Jer. Say something. Anything." Her tone had been calm but slowly her voice rose as she looked at him sitting there underneath a table just to avoid her.

"Avoiding me is one thing... but sitting under a table? Am I really that bad to be around... to talk to... to even look at anymore?" Her voice cracked as tears threatened to fall. How much longer was this going to go on? Them not hanging out, teasing one another, talking... it just wasn't right. "Say something, anything. Yell at me if you want.. anything is better than your silence."

Damn it.

Those dogs smelled so good. Maybe he would just take the plate? No, too late for him. Sam set it out of his reach.

Damn it.

Jer sensed her still there but he refused to look in her direction. Not even when she spoke did he turn his eyes on her. He could hear how her voice rose as she spoke and for a moment her wanted to reach out to her and crush her against him.

But the moment passed.

Jer simply rolled his eyes to himself. Yes, he was quite happy to remain silent under here. Why did Sam care about him? Didn’t she only care about herself? Didn’t she care about her new family? Wasn’t she happy she had hurt their parents when she went and got herself a kid? Didn’t she care more about Zeplin now?

The seventh year blinked when he realised that his eyes were suddenly filled with hot tears. What even? Rapid blinking happened. Jeremy Elijah Dawson did not cry.

Jer!

Stubborn.

Why did her twin have to be so darn stubborn. Her love for him ran deep and nothing would shake that bond that they had always had. At least not in her mind. Then again she hadn't thought them not talking would last this long and yet it had.

Sam sniffled hastily wiping her arm across her cheek when a tear slipped past her eyelashes. "Jer... at least come out from there?" she asked softly ignoring the next tear that slid it's way down her cheek. He was her brother, could he not see how much she missed him? How hurt she was too? This wasn't about Zephyr or her son or anyone else. All that mattered right here and now was him and her. Jer and Sam.

If he wasn't going to come out...

Sam crawling beneath the table to sit beside him, tucking her knees to her chest just as he was doing. "I can sit here for as long as it takes for you to talk to me."

More tears were threatening to come. But you know what he thought of? Sam replacing him with Zeplin and that midget. He wasn’t sure which of the two he hated more. Those thoughts were enough for him to stop tearing up. And to glare at Samara with so much hatred when she suggested that he come out from under his table.

Who was she tell him what to do? Wasn’t she satisfied enough to boss her new favourite people around?

Despite hatred and the rage now bubbling up inside of him. Her own tears did nothing to move him.

His eyes did narrow dangerously when she slunk under the table with him. Jer, with his stomach still rumbling, scooted immediately away from her. He wasn’t sure what kept him there instead of making an escape.
