Hey Allison, wonderful continuation of the party scene. And about this;
Quote:
I'll admit I haven't read this one in a little while so I bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure there was either a vampire at Slughorn's party of the Ghost Nick's birthday party...can't quite remember but I thought it would be amusing to add in!
Yes he was at Slughorn's party, he kept wanting to get close to the group of giggling girls. I wonder why

And this is my favorite part of your post;
Quote:
"I realize that given the rather vast expansion in your powers that you received in such a short period of time, it was wrong of me to put you in a situation where you felt cornered," Snape responded, saying the last word slowly like he wasn't sure if that was the right term.

"Um...thank you," I managed to respond with much more composure. "I offer my apologies for...well...you know," I said, feeling myself starting to get slightly uncomfortable.

"It is alright. As such, I would like to meet with you and try and figure out why it is that your mother can get into your head like that. I'm not sure if you're aware that as you were...you know...you were muttering to yourself and the voice coming out was definitely not your own."

I was silent. I hadn't know...I had only thought her voice was in my head. In the moment I had no idea why I decided that I could trust Snape and ask him such a personal question, but I did.

"Can my mother control me?"

Snape was quiet for a moment, looking out the window behind the table.

"I do not know."
Very nicely done, and it was the perfect way to end your post. I just can't wait for your next one.
Great work Allison, I'll be watching for your next.

Wow!
So glad she put Slughorn right. This is getting really interesting with her mother.... just crazy. Glad Snape apologized and I'm happy she returned the favor. Great job!

"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."

Hey guys! My sincerest apologies for the lack of an update, but college work and tennis has been filling up most of my free time, so I am barely getting on here to RP my charries However, I am planning on getting an update up this weekend so keep your eyes peeled for that

Default Chapter Twelve: Part Four
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."

I didn't say anything, Snape making a point of not looking at my face as I tried to control the emotion that was running through me. My greatest fear was that this connection between her and I would be something similar to what Harry and Voldemort have. I was afraid that I wouldn't be strong enough to do what I needed to do, but it was a different matter completely to be afraid that someone would be able to control your will whenever they wanted without the use of a wand. Fortunately for me the opportunity to return to the conversation was stunted by the sudden appearance of Draco Malfoy, whose sleeve was being held with a rather firm grip by Filch. Professor Snape starred at Draco pointedly, whose eyes were shifted towards the ground after catching a glance at me.

"What is going on here?" Professor Slughorn asked, approaching Filch and Draco with a rather perplexed look. The scene had caused complete silence to rush across the party, leaving everyone wondering what was going to happen to the unwanted visitor.

"I found Mr. Malfoy here snooping outside the party. When I asked to see his invitation he said he had none so I thought I would bring the little rascal in to see you," said Filch with a rather arrogant and satisfactory look on his face.

"I can explain Professor Slughorn," I said, stepping forward before anyone even had time to look at Draco for a sign of guilt to this accusation. "Draco and I are working on a little homework assignment and I asked him to meet me outside the party so we could go to the library before it closed," I said with a little smile.

I had been expecting for Professor Snape to object or at least try and stop me, but from his emotion I could tell that he wasn't going to say anything, and if he did it would only be to back my claim by saying the homework assignment was for his class. I had to admit I was surprised by the gesture but it looked like he was trying to turn over a new leaf in our relationship and I wasn't complaining. It was Harry who seemed angry and perplexed. I shot him a look to say it was fine, of which he gave a small nod consenting but still not happy.

"Ahh, well, I dare say you two best be off then," said Professor Slughorn with a small smile.

"Thank you Professor," I said with another warm smile before starting to lead the way out of the room. Filch let go of Draco but rather reluctantly and not without a few scoffs of disbelief towards mostly Professor Snape whom he could usually count on to help him punish bad students.

"That was a close one," Draco said once the sound of the party was nothing more than a murmur.

"Yeah, well you're lucky that Snape is trying to get back on my good side or I wouldn't have been able to help you at all. What were you thinking lurking outside the party like that? Did you honestly think no one would notice?"

"Well I was hoping you would notice with that special talent of yours," Draco snapped with a general wave of the hand around where my head was. I shot him a look before rolling my eyes and pulling him into a completely empty classroom and locking the door. I cast a quick muffling charm over the door so that any unwanted passerbys wouldn't hear what we were discussing.

"So I am assuming you have something to tell me?" I said, letting out a little sigh.

"Yeah, it's about your mother."

"What about?" I said, my body instinctively tensing.

"Okay, so you know how they want me to kill...you know...well from what I have gathered it seems like You-Know-Who wants your mother to kill you."

"Thanks...I had deducted that much for myself already," I said with a gentle shrug.

"No, no, but it's more than that Abby. You-Know-Who is working on something I feel it. It's almost like he's setting up the game pieces so that you'll have no choice but to try and kill her and she'll have no choice but to try and kill her. That's why you can't bond with Harry Abby. You can't let him set things up the way he wants to."

"I already told you I won't bond with Harry," I said, expecting Draco to have more than what was already a know fact.

"Yeah, but you say that now but I can tell you that they are going to do everything in their power to make it seem like there will be no way to save Harry unless he has your magic to help him. I don't know what exactly they're going to do, but I need you to stick to this Abby."

The look in Draco's eyes screamed desperation, so I gave him the firmest answer that I would not bond with Harry that I could. "So what exactly is he after?" I asked Draco, taking a seat at one of the desks. Draco sat down at the desk in front of mine, sitting sideways so that he could look at me.

"I don't know. He's trying to get something," Draco said with a small shake of the head. "He only talks to Bellatrix about these matters though so getting information has not been easy. Not to mention the pressure I am getting to complete my responsibilities."

"But you aren't going to do that, right?"

"I don't know if I'll have much choice!" Draco said, frustration coming through. "They won't kill me if I fail...they'll kill my family and I can't bear having that guilt with me the rest of my life."

"Draco, your parents made their beds when they chose to become Death Eaters before you were even born. You can't hold yourself responsible for the consequences of their choices."

"But this would be a consequence of mine," Draco spat back. "It's been given to me as my duty, and my failure will result in their deaths."

"I won't let that happen Draco," I said, extending my hand and grabbing his arm. "We'll figure something out."

"Yeah?" Draco said, not completely convinced but willing to cling to my mere suggestion of hope.

"Yeah...I think I may have an idea."

Great post!
She is definitely lucky Snaps wants back on hergood side otherwise she would have had no chance. Malfoy is definitely making me curious. It makes me wonder what Goldie wants to do to try to get Abby to do that bonding thing. Great job!

Hey Allison, very intense! I don't know what kind of advice I would give her. She is caught in between too many rocks and hard places to be able to give her sound advice. Bonding with Harry is suppose to make him be able to have enough power to kill Voldemort and survive, but then Draco makes it sound like it would be in their best interest if they did bond, so she shouldn't bond with him.

I wanted Abby and Harry to be in love, but Draco does seem to need her;

I'm always for the underdog when they are able to hope.
Quote:
"Yeah...I think I may have an idea."
I've been checking to see if she has come forth with this idea, but so far she hasn't. I hope you can post soon.

Default Chapter 13: String of Hope
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."

Hey guys! I am soo sorry that it has taken me this long to get a reply up! My school/tennis has kept me feeling none creative outside of RPing, but I finally have a reply for you guys!

It had been a few weeks since Draco and I's last meeting together, and it had been rather difficult keeping the contents of that meeting from the pestering Ron, Hermione, and Harry, who didn't understand why I needed to keep the whole thing a secret from them. In all honesty it was because I knew they would never be okay with my plan, and the last thing I needed was their doubts and hesitations knocking away what little courage I had to complete this task in the first place. Thankfully today was the trip to Hogsmeade, and after convincing them that I needed to stay at Hogwarts since Dumbledore was still hesitant about Death Eaters trying to grab me, and that they would be fine going without me, they departed with the large group of Hogwarts students.

I had waved goodbye to them from the steps, Hermione turning around a few times to give me a rather meaningful glare. Once they were out of sight I went back into the school, walking a ways by myself until I reached the famous Room of Requirement. I looked around a few moments, making sure no one was watching me, before I walked back and forth, thinking exactly as Draco had told me to. When the doors appeared to me, I pushed them open before safely closing them behind me. I turned around to find Draco already there, taking a bite of an apple as he observed the wardrobe in front of him.

"So, that's the vanishing cabinet is it?" I said, eyeing the cabinet with an unsettled feeling.

"Yeah...I still haven't gotten it a hundred percent fixed though. The last bird I sent through came out on the other side missing a leg," Draco said with a small shake of the head as he took another bite of the apple.

I approached the wardrobe, opening it and looking inside. It smelled musty, like a wooden drawer that hadn't been opened in years, and the thickness of the dust was enough to send anyone with germ phobias running the other direction.

"Are they always waiting for you to send things through?" I asked.

Draco gave a little shake of the head. "Every week at a given time I am supposed to send something through, and then they send back a letter telling me what went wrong. I am supposed to send another bird through soon. There was a jinx they had me try on it that they think should work."

I gave a little nod of the heading, looking at the cage of small birds sitting next to the cabinet with an empathetic look. "Well you better keep on schedule. It won't do us any good to have them asking questions," I said, moving out of the way. Draco opened the cage and took out one of the birds, who surprisingly didn't make any fuss, before placing the bird into the cabinet and shutting the door, turning the lock with a definitive click.

"It usually takes them a little bit," Draco said, grabbing his apple and taking another bite. I sat down on a wooden chest, sure that I was covering my entire rear end with dust but not letting myself be too concerned about it. There was silence other than the occasional sound of Draco chewing as we waited for something to happen. Eventually he cleared his throat before speaking again.

"I can't thank you enough for helping me with this Abby," Draco said softly, clearly embarrassed to be talking to me like this. I looked up at him and gave a nod.

"Well, the whole thing is a lot bigger than just you and me, so I figure whatever help I can give, I need to give it."

"But still...you could just go to Dumbledore and tell him."

"That's right...I could."

"So why don't you?"

I let out a sigh. "Because that man has enough on his plate already."

Draco gave a small nod of the head. "But there's more to it than just that right?"

I looked up at Draco again, who was staring at me with a look I had never seen him give anyone before. It was an odd mixture of admiration and affection, and the intensity of his stare made my cheeks flush slightly.

"I think he would try and talk me out of it," I said with a gentle shrug of the shoulder.

"But you said it yourself, Dumbledore knows you have to be the one to kill your mother."

"I know that, and he does as well, but I don't think he wants me going out of my way to do it like I am trying to do with our plan."

Draco gave another nod. There was more silence before Draco spoke again.
"So just to make sure I am on the same page...you and I are going to get the cabinet to work. Then at some point you and I are going to go through it, and plant some kind of listening device on Bellatrix without her noticing. Hopefully if that works then we will be able to figure out the location of your mother and get to her, right?"

I gave a nod of the head. The more Draco said it out loud the crazier the plan sounded, but at this point there was nothing better that Draco or I could think of.

"And we're hoping that we can some how convince your mother to change her ways and help us before you have to kill her, right?"

I let out a sigh before shooting Draco a look. "It may not mean much, but I have faith in you Abby. If anyone can get through to her, I think it would be you."

I gave Draco a small smile. "I am not really holding my breath on her helping us, I am just looking for some way that we can stop Dumbledore from being killed."

Draco gave another nod as more silence fell throughout the room. Before I had time to realize what was happening Draco moved so that he was now sitting next to me on the wooden chest, staring at the wardrobe in front of us.

"Can I ask you something?" Draco asked.

"Sure," I said, slightly nervous by how mellow his demeanor had gotten all of the sudden.

"Why Harry...I mean...what made you love Harry?"

I couldn't bring to look myself at Draco, and I could tell that he couldn't bring himself to look at me as I tried to answer the question. "It's hard to explain...I just...well...I just knew. I don't know if there was a moment specifically when I could tell, but I just knew that I loved him, and that I couldn't live without him."

Draco was silent for a few moments before he turned to look at me. I looked at him, waiting to hear why he wanted to know. "He's a lucky guy Harry. The luckiest guy in the world."

Hey Allison, great post! I like that you created an atmosphere of suspicion for Hermione. It's right on for her to react the way you wrote.

I'm so nervous about this plan they have of using the vanishing cabinet; things could go so terribly wrong! A question about the cabinet; Are they just sitting in the room to be together or are they waiting for a reply? I mean if they're waiting for a reply how would they be guaranteed the message gets to Draco what with the cabinet being broken?

This is my favorite part of your post. Sooooooooo wonderful!
